Doll’s Inner Spirit - Sanctus Magic - With this magic, Katherine stuffs one of her dolls with a spirit of the dead. Wandering Spirits. It is a typically synergetic relationship giving the spirit a chance to live again (in a sense) and in return the spirit will listen to it’s new master as well as give power to the doll. To keep active in combat with Katherine they must be tethered to her with her catalyst rings. The cutest thing about these dolls is that they walk around and do things even while Katherine is asleep.

Doll Armitization - Alchemy - Using the power of Alchemy, Katherine changes her dolls limbs into weapons such as swords or spears of such and turning them back to how they original shape. In addition, when a doll is to be utterly destroyed she can activate a mass of chemicals inside the doll starting a great self-destruct sequence causing a decent explosion (Though she abhorrently despises doing as such as she loves each and every one of her dolls)

Strength of the Masses - Immuto Magic - Activating through her magical tethers, Katherine can increase both the strength and durability of the dolls by hardening their bodies and making them much less fragile to breaking.

Strengths: Katherine’s greatest strength is her strength in numbers with her dolls. As her most prominent skill, her control over her dolls is her signature ability so to speak.

Weaknesses: Her dolls can be so very powerful, however strike at the source itself, Katherine, and they will drop instantly. Her magics will most typically be focused on her dolls and not herself. Not that she is stationary, but she isn’t as tough as her dolls.

Catalyst: Rings of Tethering: Katherine wears a magic ring on each of her fingers. These act as a catalyst for her magical power as well as a magic container for one of her dolls. They also act as a tether to one of her dolls, allowing her to have a mental link with her dolls. In the case that the ring would be destroyed, the doll connected with the ring would have a horrid feedback attack, knocking the spirit out and shot out for miles.

Other Skills: Katherine is skilled at sewing, able to make the cutest little dresses for her wide variety of dolls. In addition, she has skill in actually making the dolls.

Familiar: No contractual Familiars, in a sense her dolls are much like a familiar but not as such.

Personality: To put it simply, Katherine is sly and playful. Death is a concept she understands all too well and pretty much a great part of her life so she doesn’t fear it like some people do. Death is necessary for her to make her dolls act after all. She doesn’t mind weakening herself to play around with something before ending it (though she has only killed creatures in the forest that posed a threat to her). She enjoys a good fight, but is also a little bit of a coward. She’ll dodge attacks where she can, but if someone would back her into a corner, rather than continue and take a shot she’d rather give up. She has little pride or honor when it comes to pain.

That being said, she isn’t a horrible person. The ones she likes, she can dote on. People she can appreciate she’ll treat as equals. Those weaker than her, well. . . It depends on how they act to her. If they challenge her superiority they will be berated (should they not best her), and if they acknowledge it, she will treat them gently. If they don’t mention it, she’ll easily treat them as one would a normal person.

Backstory: In her youth something happened to her and her parents and Katherine became separated from them. Luckily for her, she was picked up by an aging Magic user in the woods.

As the years passed by the old man found that she had latent potential and taught her many tricks he knew, such as how to put spirits into artificial bodies, some traces of alchemy and a few other things. When asked why they lived in the middle of the woods he told her that they were in the middle of the Fae Woods. An easier name to remember than the original he told her. It was a place that made magic easier to handle and learn as it felt like it was a different world. He then told her how he found her when she was little.

It made sense to her and explained most everything to her, except who her parents were. The old man had no idea, nor any solution to who they were, leaving her clueless. As a suggestion, he mentioned they were likely Magic users of some sort and sent her out into the English country visiting various towns trying to gather information. She met with an old friend of the Old Man’s and he suggested trying Montagne Academy. Where those who studied magic gathered, and even referred her to the school. Before going, she told the old man her plan where he wished the girl the best of luck.

Katsumi is an alluring woman without even realizing it. She has been praised on her appearance more than 100 times in her lifetime but that doesn’t mean that she agrees or likes these compliments. Her lips are pale pink and are always moisturized. Even though her hair is just a simple black color, there is something that stands out about it. Soft to the touch and as silky as silk itself. She almost always has a flower ornament to go with her hair if it is up. Her bangs are pretty long and perfectly frame her pale skin that is without blemishes.

Her looks manage to enchant people around her. Her black hair is extremely long without giving off that “I don’t bother cutting my hair.” vibe. It flows gently behind her and her expression is usually serious and mysterious when she’s not with someone at the time.

Her eyes are a splendid blend of colors that manage to captivate many. Her eyes give off a gentle feeling but at the same time they don’t look alive much.


Her clothing mostly consists of traditional kimonos that are black and white and are made out of soft fabric. She can’t really stand wearing bad quality clothing. Her skin is sensitive and she tends to feel uncomfortable. A few black and red kimonos are mixed in there and a small amount of everyday clothes such as a pure white dress, a blue dress, and a soft black sweater and the such. Of course, she also has a full kendo suit.

She doesn’t wear them all that much though. If ever.

Strengths: Over the years, she has seen many things and she knows what that can do to someone. She made it so that all of this was transferred into usable power for herself that she can use against someone. Watching a massacre unravel in front of her eyes helped this cause greatly.

After she transfers it into something that she can use against someone, it accumulates in the form of ashes around her. These ashes don’t mean anything and are not used in her battles. Rather, the power of the sins manage to create something that she simply calls "sin mana". With this, she can practically crush the willpower of the person that she is fighting and makes her attacks stronger.

If you are someone that has many sins, she can use this to her advantage greatly.

Weaknesses: Homing spells. This power pretty much fuels off of her misery. Things that she rather not remember will flash into her mind as well as wounds from the past physically opening up. However, it happens after she performs the spell but it still isn't good at all. Also, it uses up a lot of her mana so if it succeeds, she might not want to see anyone for up to a week. She'll honestly feel disgusted with herself afterwards.

Her strength, balance, endurance, and especially her reflexes are about 5 times enhanced. Over the years, she has found that she could stack up her physical properties over the years. Every time she got stronger, she would also get 2 times better in another field. However, she was already strong so nowadays, this doesn't affect her much and has simply made her as strong as she is today.

This strength that she has could easily punch the ground and crack the layers. Not that she would do such a destructive thing. Probably.

Catalyst:

A beautiful katana that she holds dearly to her heart. After a while, her power grew overwhelmingly strong and it was tough to maintain it. She discovered this katana that became her catalyst and holds much of her power. It has been passed down her family for generations. The Katanas power all depends on the user. It has extreme powers stored inside of it that she cultivated herself and uses when she does not feel like fighting with her powers. She is extremely graceful with the katana and accurate. A simple strike into the ground with a reasonable amount of arm power can cause a shockwave where ever she is. This is simply where everything goes silent for a while, followed by a high frequence hum.

She usually has it reappear when she needs it and keeps it in a pocket dimension most of the times. When it does appear, that isn’t usually a good thing. Unless she simply wants to practice.

Other Skills:

Katsumi’s concentration skills are stellar. Once she focuses on something, it will be hard to take her out of that trance and you won’t be greeted too kindly if she doesn’t know someone is around her.

Reading. She can read a book very quickly. Well, she loves to read. Adores it. Escaping to learn about the world through mere words. It's like another world for her. A lot of times, she'll pick up a picture book and start reading it out loud. A habit I suppose. The youngest did love to hear her read.

She can cook wonderfully. Most of her meals have the sense of a “family meal.” that she made but never really enjoyed herself. Simply watching her siblings enjoy them was enough for her. Her cooking is either simple and elegant or cute and delicious for the younger ones. Traditional Japanese meals are her personal favorite.

Her voice is extremely soothing and it always manages to calm children down which was very useful for her. This resulted in a beautiful singing voice that she uses to, well, sing when she’s bored and alone. Or if she needs to sing a lullaby.

Inventory: Her katana, though it is invisible. A black vintage kimono bag which always has at least 3 books, one story book and the other ones are whatever she felt like bringing. A full on safe aid kit, and whatever she felt like putting in there. If she doesn’t have the book, she’ll just have her katana and maybe a book with her.

Personality: Katsumi has an air of elegance and prosperity that apparently follows around her. She grew up taking care of her siblings and never actually having a childhood. Friends aren’t something that she has actually had. Unless you count the occasional tutors that came to check up on her skills as well as possible marriage partners that she never had time for. She has never thought about friends but if she were to be around a group, she most likely would. Caring, and selfless are two words that most describe her usually. She doesn’t think about herself before thinking about the others around her that it would effect and has never thought of someone as a horrid person. At least, that's how it was for her siblings.

She can't really be around people that are too kind and always wear a smile. They make her feel like they're planning something since her parents were the same. Of course, this doesn't mean that she won't treat them with utmost respect. She just might not want to be around them for too long.

Don’t expect her to show her true emotions. She is pretty straightforward with her thoughts but she has never. And I mean never shown actual fury in her life. She may have expressed it with words but a lot of the times, you can’t even tell that she is angry. Bottling up her emotions is a habit but she does her best not to destroy herself with it. Also, she does not like to show much weaknesses to others. A habit I suppose. Plus, she doesn't have much people skills since she was isolated most of her life.

Backstory: Katsumi grew up in a strict household where it was either excel or be punished for being a failure. She was the 3rd youngest out of the 10 children living in her home but soon, she was the one taking care of them the most.

Her parents were a noble couple that tried their best to have their children be the absolute best and they did not like failures. Even with this, she never quite knew what her parents did for a living. She just knew that it involved killing people, ordering others around, and receiving money. A lot of it.

She didn’t take much notice to this until the day that her father had the 2nd youngest executed for being unable to cast a certain spell. It was devastating. Not being able to do anything and having to watch your sister's head be mercilessly cut off without a thought. Being only 9 at the time, she simply stood, stunned and shocked at what was happening. She couldn’t understand why it was happening but she understood one thing: Become perfect. Don’t fail. Don’t underestimate your parents cruelty.

Soon, her parents were growing in wealth greatly while Katsumi was locked in her property, studying and studying and trying to become a successful daughter. She didn’t just study magic however. She studied human relations, medicine, math, science, languages, artwork, cooking, and the like. Of course, she made sure to teach whatever she could to her sisters and brothers, not wanting them to fall behind. This wasn’t a situation of “All for yourselves” this was a situation of helping each other survive and not fail to impress her parents. Impressing her parents didn’t necessarily mean following laws and being kind all of the times...

Her parents favored Katsumi because of how much she was excelling. They always at least somewhat listened to her and this resulted in only 3 other siblings getting killed when it would have been 6.

Her magic improved greatly and she soon became a great demon that her parents could brag about every day and that was all that she wanted. However, her siblings thought differently. Even through all of this, they thought that she was planning to surpass them even more and let them get executed since they were of no need. With this, she was devastated. The thought that they thought of her as a monster hit her hard. However, her parents came in at the perfect time, suggesting she become an even better mage at Montagne Academy. She would have wondered if they thought that she wasn’t enough but all she wanted to do now was leave so that her siblings could maybe feel… even just a little bit less stressed because of her.

Alchemy - An accomplished Alchemist, although most of his skills are concentrated into making elixirs, and not so much as active transmutation.

Strengths:
Nicomedes magic, when used in the right situation, is extremely difficult to counter, even with conventional weaknesses. Moreover, most of his magics gain strength the more emotional turmoil his targets suffer. His magic is designed to break bonds and weaken friendships, while at the same time becoming more effective the more isolated his targets are.

Weaknesses:
If proper conditions are not met, then his magic becomes ineffective. Also, a major weakness of all of his Mentis magic is that it requires physical contact to work. Above all, person with immense emotional strength can withstand his spells.

Catalyst:
Leather gloves with runes drawn on them. The gloves are heavily enchanted and can be used to block or redirect magical projectiles. They also increase the strength of fire magic.

Other Skills:
Despite his slim looks, he's a highly competent fighter in close combat, capable of fighting hand-to-hand, or using weapons. While he's competent with most conventional weaponry, he excels in fighting with a sword or a baton. He is also a confident speaker, able to project his voice across a crowded room, and is able to compel people to listen to him using his voice alone.

Inventory:

  • A notebook, filled with cryptograms and codes. The notebook contains sensitive information that he was able to gather on students and teachers alike.
  • A retractable steel baton, enchanted to be extra durable.
  • A handheld digicam.




Personality:
Sadistic, manipulative, and ultimately, a teacher. These three traits define Nicomedes. He is a man obsessed with other people's pain and suffering, and is cunning and charming enough to enact the plans he needs to witness these desires in reality. However, he does not enjoy pain without purpose; he lives by a motto that all the best lessons are those hard won by trudging through trials. He believes the best students are those that learn through fire and brimstone, and he enjoys the destination equally as much as the journey.

Backstory:
A man who grew up into magic, he was irritated with the the incompetence of his instructors. Still, he found there was a certain kind of thrill as he watched his fellow students struggle with their lessons under the guidance of substandard instructors. Behind the backs of his teachers, he taught his classmates magic and also encouraged them to skip classes and ignore the other teachers.
Soon enough the teachers were put under mounting pressure as they lost more and more students. Their jobs were in danger and they were forced to put effort into their teachings. Nicomedes watched with delight as they struggled and panicked and ultimately, those teachers that managed to improve their lessons once again found students attending their class, while those that remained incompetent found that they had lost the patronage of the kids families, and consequently their jobs.
This was the way Nicomedes conducted his life, up until he entered Montagne Academy, after the school he previously worked in closed due to the director committing suicide due to 'work-related stress'.
Needless to say, he looks forward to his time here.

    Meruin can cut off a sense of the body. The process is akin to an operation without anesthesia, and requires about half an hour to do and constant contact to the body while underway. Reversing the effects takes the same amount of time.
  • Alchemy:
    Long Distance Transmutation:
    Meruin can transmute objects from a distance, so long as it is visible to her, and inside her area of effect. The speed of her transmutations changes depending on the size of the object she is modifying. For objects weighing less than 50 pounds, she can do an almost instant transmutation, on or at that weight, however, the speed drops to approximately +10 seconds per pound added. Also, while Meruin can only transmute an object if she knows what its made of. She is not able to transmute living objects unless, for whatever reason, their magic resistance is nullified.

    Potion Maker:
    Meruin makes drugs, ranging from recreational to poison to medicinal uses. Depending on the simplicity of the potion, Meruin can transmute and create instantly, so long as the necessary ingredients are gathered. As the complexity of the concoction increases, Meruin must do the making by hand and with the necessary tools.
  • Sanctum:
    Contract Summon:
    Meruin can contract with demonic or nature spirits and request for their assistance.

    Contractual Possession:
    Meruin has four spirits under her contract that she allows to possess her body. Said number can increase if she finds interest in a spirit. Even if the spirits possess her body, they cannot do anything her body is not capable of.
    • Heather - the spirit of a 35 year old porn star that was murdered by an obsessed fan.
    • Dino - an American scientist and physicist that helped design the atomic bomb that landed on Japan.
    • Donna - a German psychologist. She irritates Dino.
    • Publius Scipio Africanus - her favorite contracted spirit. A roman military commander and statesman that drove off Hannibal Barca during the Second Punic War.


Strengths:
The two greatest strengths of Meruin's magic is subtlety and absoluteness. Her spells do not look obvious and give no indication that they are being cast - she does not even need to chant for them to begin taking effect, merely concentrate - and can quickly take effect without notice. Even better than its subtlety is the strength of its hold once it takes effect. Also, her wide range of spells allows her to compound the effects for greater utility.

Weaknesses:
All of her magic, asides from her alchemy, has a long cast time and strict requirements for them to be effective. Also, they are easily broken by influence from those outside the area of effect of her spells. Meruin can only pick a number of people to target with her spells, and in order to include new people in her area of effect, she has to undo and redo her spell. Her spells are also individually inflexible, barring Hazy Moon. The fact that she has a wide range of spells to cast from only hides the fact that her spells have very limited usage, and in order for them to be of any use in combat, Meruin has to be both insanely meticulous in her pre-battle preparations, and efficient with the use of her spells.

All of the weaknesses of her magic can be summed up with a simple explanation: Meruin is primarily a researcher, and her magic reflects that. She just so happened to learn how to use it for battle as a necessity.

Catalyst:
A silver ring with a single sapphire embedded on it, and and a large collection of ceremonial and ritual daggers made from varying metals. She has one notable daggers: A large, serrated, obsidian dagger of Mayan descent/. All her daggers have been modified to serve as catalysts for her magic.

Lastly, Meruin uses amulets and seals as a means to increase the range of effect of her magic.

  • The obsidian dagger, "Artful Sacrifice", stores all the blood it has ever drawn, until Meruin releases it. Also, wounds from the dagger cannot close via unnatural (magic) means. It is Meruin's primary tool for ritualistic magics. It measures at approx. 13 in. in length, and 4 in. in width.


Other Skills:
An excellent cook, though she seldom has need to show it. Likewise, she is also a talented singer, even if she speaks little - unless it comes to her research. She can also paint and sketch accurately and beautifully - if directed. She herself has no actual artistic sense.

Inventory:
Her catalysts asides, Meruin regularly carries a satchel around with her, containing a handful of concoctions - magical or otherwise - with varying uses. In general, she carries restoratives, hallucinogenics, or poisons, although the effects could change drastically depending on whether she mixes them or not.

Familiar:
None, so far.

Personality:
Meticulous, silent, and observant.

Meruin is a researcher to the core, and uses any and every method all in the interest of new discoveries. She is aware of social norms, however does not care for most of them, preferring logic and directness over propriety, however, she is aware that some things are not touched on. She understands the personalities of different people, but lacks empathy as she does not care if it does not concern her. Still, she values relationships highly, despite - or even because of - her personality.

She is obsessed with her research and can even forget to eat in her obsession. She is not a fighter, however, she will fight if it is necessary to push her research forward.

Backstory:
Meruin's family, much to her surprise, came from a long family of mages. Once, they were quickly on the fast track to becoming a powerful and renowned family in the world of magic, however, the birth of a certain man in the family quickly crushed that rise. Among the family, he was black-sheep, unable to cast even the most basic of magics. Rather than give up quietly or try some other method, the man decided to start a revolution within the family - that is to say, he managed to somehow convince half of the family that magic was unnecessary to them and a simple detriment to finding a happy life, and that it should be forgotten entirely if they wanted to be truly happy.
His radical notions started a civil war within Meruin's family, causing its most gifted and magically capable members to die out rapidly. By the time the conflict was over, the remaining members were either inept or disinterested with magic. Such as Meruin's father. He grew up mediocre and encouraged his kids to be the same, telling them that being great was just simply cause for conflict.
And Meruin hated the man that she called father to her core.
Meruin hated her father more than anyone in her entire life - he was the first and only person she could actually say she hated - and cursed him and her mother and siblings for buying into his ideology of leading a mediocre life. Meruin felt that if she really tried, she could become great - no, not just great, but singular. A special existence.
And that was when she discovered she was magic.
Her father was aghast of course, but Meruin was ecstatic. More than just being magic, it seemed Meruin was a throwback to when the family still had mages with prodigious magic reserves. Despite her fathers efforts to stamp out her magic, to dissuade her from practicing it, Meruin still managed to contact her uncle - the only one she knew was still an active mage, even if he wasn't very skilled. The uncle managed to secure her a place in Montagne Academy via a contact of his, and Meruin said goodbye to her family on board a boat to the Academy's island.
She has not looked back since.

Pesonality: Adrian is a soft spoken and often troublesome individual, with a penchant for mischief and a fetish for eating clothes nobody has worn in a long time. Socks? Delicious. Underwear? Maybe not. Old sweaters? Savored forever or until caught. Though that isn't so say he goes out of his way to make trouble, not usually the case, but feels strongly that 'the family curse' plays a crucial role into his behavior patterns. Curiosity describes him in most situations as he thoroughly examines everything and anything remotely interesting in a non-violent but very creepy way, touching and feeling anything with his antennae or on rare occasions extending his tongue to lick it.

Backstory: A rare creature by far, the Mothman has been a mystery to humans for years as both myth and confirmed legend. Unlike other 'mythical' creatures named so by the humans, the moth creatures are unconcerned with being seen and often are. They cannot control the need to examine what they find interesting and has often led to acts of violence against them by scared or 'courageous' people over the years. Adrian is not aware of the day he was born, his parents having simply vanished on the winds the same way he did, but did not bother to search. Perceiving his was likely the last of his kind did not make him any less afraid for his life either.
The academy in Montagne academy noticed him after what Adrian was told was likely twenty or so years of age and taught to control his impulses and natural gifts of paralysis while warning him of the dangers. Many masters have tried to bind the elusive Mothman Adrian but none has kept his respect or interest longer than a few weeks and now lives a something of a novelty, an unbounded, but still respected in squads for his unique ability to petrify and paralyze victims of his gaze.
