Appearance description: With her height of 6’1/185cm Ylva is fairly tall for a girl. She is a fit girl and her physique displays that as it looks like that of people who participate in fitness competitions yet it does not harm her feminine looks. Her skin is fairly pale yet not in a sickly manner.
Ylva’s eyes are something special as they have a very odd colour which is almost gold-like. This is something that is not natural, as this has been done by her catalyst. She is not the only one to have this however, as all of her clan has this colour of eyes because they too underwent the same trials as she did. However, due to some events which happened in the past most of the clan, including Ylva, wear coloured lenses to conceal their eye colour. In Ylva’s case, they’re blue.
Ylva is not bad to look at. She has a pretty face though she usually doesn't have a very joyful expression on it. Her expressions usually are neutral and hard to read, sometimes easily confused with disinterest or annoyance. She has a very soothing and clear voice which she uses to sing in very rare cases. She also has a tattoo under her left eye which marks her as a member of the Harkon clan.
Ylva’s hair is also another striking feature as it is as white as snow. Her hair is pretty long and reaches up till her lower chest/shoulderblades. She often keeps it hanging loose when she isn't planning on doing anything special, however she’ll put it in a braid or ponytail when she has to concentrate and thus not be distracted by all that hair.
As for clothing, Ylva uses very practical and everyday clothing. No fancy dresses or high heels for this gal. A hoodie or normal t-shirt combined with trousers and boots/sneakers are what she usually wears.

Magic:
Prima
Ylva has the ability to manipulate both Ice and Lightning. She is able to conjure up many things with a great attention to detail and precision. Ylva’s magic is not as “epic” in scale as that of many other magic practitioners. Instead, she focuses on practicality and perfect execution.
Lets first focus Lightning. Ylva uses this ability mostly as a way of intimidation and combating people at range, either by blasting bolts of Lightning or by conjuring shock fields to block someone’s escape. That being said, Lightning magic is also very effective in close quarters. Ylva can envelope her entire body with an electrical field if she would like, which would make it quite hard for a lightly armed individual to hit her in close quarters engagements without getting themselves zapped. However, the important part is that she does NOT become the pure energy, instead she just casts the electrical field around her body as some sort of armour.
Now on to the second element, Ice. Ylva is able to create and manipulate ice at any time, as long as there are water particles nearby. She is able to create different objects with the ice and can let these items either dissolve or splinter violently on command, giving her an effective ranged crowd control ability. Ylva is also able to encase her body in very strong Ice, giving her an effective armour against anything bludgeoning attacks, yet not so much against sharp stabbing attacks like an ice pick or anything like that. Just like with the Lightning it should be stated that it is not her body that changes in Ice, but that she encases herself with it and due to the magical properties is still able to move.
Due to her control over Ice she is resistant against extreme cold and heat, as all she has to do is focus her magic on her own body to cool herself in hot environments while she is resistant to the cold because of the exposure of her catalyst. This is also why she can feel really cold to the touch, because she is. She’s also able to pretty much provide clean drinking water anywhere, as long as there are water particles in the air.
Finally, Ylva has one other school of magic up her sleeve:
Circum.
This is a fairly taxing spell but it is probably one of her most effective. This one offers her a sort of sonar like awareness of her surrounding up to a 20 meter radius. It’s very taxing on the mind and unless it is uncast, she is unable to use her other magic abilities.
Strengths:
Ylva is a jack of all trades, but master of none. She is able to cast protective spells on herself as well as fairly effective offensive spells for both range and up close and works as a good scout. Her ranged attacks are dangerous to any unprotected human as they can cause serious injuries.
That being said, her strengths are definitely in close combat. She likes to use her magic to create a close combat arsenal. The ones with which she is most skilled are scyte-like Ice blades which form around her wrist, form sharp Ice claws out of her nails, whips formed out of lightning which she casts from her hands and a very sharp, yet barely visible needle which pierces from the tip of her index finger and can easily go through flesh.
Weaknesses:
As said above Ylva is a jack of all trades, but master of none, and this is very true indeed. While her energy shield might injure people who are unprotected and might short-circuit electronics, a piece of rubber is all it takes to nullify this. So if she was hit by the swing of an object which does not conduct electricity, well, then that energy shield is useless. The Ice armour is a bit more resilient but it limits her movement and is still just made of ice which is far from bulletproof and an icepick will do a number on it.
Then there is the ranged abilities. While they are very damaging to a person who does not wear any protection, it’s nearly harmless to anyone who does. Someone wearing non-conducting materials would have no problem absorbing the energy blasts and using a shield would render the sharp ice darts next to harmless.
Finally, the spatial sonar ability. This one is easy to counter if you’re able to block off sound waves or hide your presence in some way or another.
Other Skills:
Glima. A Scandinavian martial art which is focussed around quickly dispatching of an opponent instead of using stylish moves like in professional martial arts.
Parkour and acrobatics. These skills were essential for her family’s line of work and they have allowed her to approach targets from difficult positions.
Participating in this many physical exercises has made Ylva a rather strong and lean individual… For a human at least.
Learned in the anatomy of many different species. Her family thought her this for… reasons.
She is also very good at hiding and blending in with the crowd. Purely because of practical purposes of course and totally not at all because she is nervous around people… Nothing to read here.
Catalyst:
From a very young age, Ylva’s heart had been artificially fused with a magical crystal which has been in possession of the Harkon clan for centuries. The crystal and her heart have basically become one due to an ancient magical procedure that the 12 Clans have been using ever since their creation long ago. This is also the cause of her odd eye colour.
The crystal feeds off of Ylva’s life energy and in return it pumps mana straight to her heart, which then passes it through her blood, giving her incredible control over her mana. However, the downside is that she must always be careful with how much energy she expends on her spells. Because if she uses too much she could faint… Or worse.
Inventory:
Codex of the 12 Clans.
A ring bearing the markings of Clan Harkon.
Familiar: None as of yet.
Personality:
Ylva is a pretty normal person. She is not overly narcissistic or a saint in anyway, she’s just normal and rather cheery. Maybe even a bit shy of other people and quite laid back. She tries to be polite to others, especially to those who are older or have authority. Though she is easily offended and winning her respect is fairly hard. But when you’ve won her trust then you’ll have an ally which would go to hell and back for you. She is very much bound to honor and pride which makes her detest lying. (But not mentioning details is not considered lying)
Speaking about hell… If Ylva’s trust is broken or the person has wronged her or her family in any way. Ylva is vengeful and highly competitive with people she dislikes. And that is putting it lightly.
Backstory:
Ylva was born 17 years ago in the Norwegian mountains close to Narvik. When she was only 4 months old her heart was fused with a magical crystal which gave her the magical powers that the Harkon clan was known for. Aah yes, the Harkon clan. One of the 12 clans from the Scandinavian Magica Pact formed after the rift between the Scandinavian charter of the Sacred Magical Order back in Rome in the late 16th century. Clan Harkon was one of the smallest clans at the time and it still is. Their task is quite simple: To dispose of any enemies of the 12 clans through shady means.
Anyway, back to Ylva. Her youth was much like that of any other girl. From her birth she has been trained in the ways of clan Harkon, teaching her to fight, to blend in with her environment, to observe and to kill. At the age of 6 Ylva made her first kill. It was a low risk mission and who would have expected that this innocent little girl would electrocute a person? Ever since then Ylva has been working for her clan while also continuing to strive for greater skill in her clan’s mission. What was that? That isn't the normal youth for a girl? Ooh.
But being in this environment does not build a proper personality and the clan knows this. That is why the clan always sends its younglings out into the real world when they reach their 17th year in life. In the past these people were sent on a pilgrimage of knowledge, but ever since the creation of institutionalised academies for magic users the clan had decided that it is smart to send their members to these institutions, yet never will two members of the clan be present in the same academy. It just so happens that by pure chance Ylva was sent to Montagne.
