@Kafka Komedy
The three who've been accepted, or three of the total applicants? Because my character was/is a knight, not a guard--I don't think we actually see any knights in OoT, but there's a difference I'm pretty sure. Guards are like policemen, knights are like soldiers. There's some overlap, especially in a middle ages society, but I'm pretty sure they're still two very different positions.

@Zeroth Three total applicants. Gowl, you, and Sombrero. And I guess "Positions of power" or maybe "worked in the govt." might fit better, but it still is a weird coincidence. I was honestly expecting a Goron to pop up pretty fast. Also not expecting another Deku, so good on you @Sombrero. Dekus4lyfe

Sir. I was a City Guard not a Castle Guard. But pedantic comments aside, Sibela probably did not think much of Daurin.

Ok, I think I've got enough for this to be considered 'finished' if a bit light. I'll add/change things with feedback of course.

HEY! I STILL GET DIVERSITY POINTS FOR MAKING THE SECOND BUSINESS SCRUB!

I did consider making Daurin a Goron armor salesman instead, (Almost but not quite an anagram for "Darunia", because it was the most zelda-ey name I could think of at the time) but the idea of having a "stealth" Goron, (using a bow, no less!) struck me as more than a little bit difficult to take seriously... I also thought it'd be funnier if I based him on one of the guards that was actually in the game.

Hmm. I feel like "Mercey" is a bad name for a Deku. I was thinking about chainging it to something more fitting like Koku or something. The only issue is Dekus are never given a name in game, just titles. Im not really sure what a Deku name would be.

I’m just not convinced that the Castle/City Guard (one of us has to change this to not have this gaping lore inconsistency) would be like “Oh, you were a poacher? But swore loyalty to the King? Yeah you can be a guard – we won’t distrust you entirely for doing that!”

I also feel like having overlap is kind of concerning? But not the GM so this is just a player’s thoughts.

I remember it being mentioned that the King totally did stuff like that in OoT. First time you talked to Zelda i think. But either way, it would be nice if someone changed. I also think we have a few too many courageous heroes and not enough wise ones, but thats just me.

So @Double will we ever see those Triforce fragments the PCs dont have? Itd be cool if we fought some people with them.

EDIT: I also understand if neither of you change. Creating a fully fleshed out character with backstory is a lot of work.

I feel the need to point out that I haven't actually accepted Daurin yet. I'm kind of waiting for the second character before I make that call.

And @Zeroth is absolutely correct, there is a significant difference between Guards and Knights. They both do soldiering, but the difference between them would be like the difference between Cops and SWAT, or Sailors and Navy Seals. One is clearly considered the more elite of the two forces, and probably better trained and paid more handsomely.

And @Gowi, it's entirely possible for Castle Guards and City Guards to be two entirely different divisions. Castle Guards are obviously more trustworthy, hence why they're allowed in and around the Castle, while City Guards stick to patrolling the streets and catching criminals. The difference between them could be as significant as the difference between the Police and Secret Service.

And finally, yes, there is a noticeable trend for having Courage Fragments, but honestly, I was fully expecting that to be case, Courageous heroes tend to be more memorable than Wise ones. Not that I actually agree with that notion, but I can see how others might come to that conclusion when making characters. Oh and yes, I have a rather dastardly plan for what I will do with Fragments that the PC's don't possess. Won't spoil it, obviously, but I will say you guys are in for a tough campaign. In fact, let me just warn you now, I don't plan to pull my punches in terms of controlling the villains, they will be smart, they will be planning, and if you take a wrong step you could very easily end up in a bad place, or even with a dead character.

One more thing, I've found a Co-GM. He hasn't popped into the OOC yet but he's working on a character.

Let's keep in mind that Hyrule is a very small kingdom, the King is usually assumed/portrayed to be an all around "Good Guy"/fatherly type, and this is a very loosely fuedal system/psuedo-utopia where thievery and vandalism is virtually ignored in most cases. Poachers aren't necessarily violent criminals in a world where there could easily be bandits and other dangerous highway types put there. And hey, they don't exactly hire the most trustworthy guys to begin with, (One of them is an obsessive looney who thinks he's a clock, another one says he wants a mask "For his kid" but stands there for days on end wearing it just because?... Of course, there's the one that encourages you to break all those pots, and then there's the guy you can straight-up bribe to get past the gate. Yep, 20 rupes just to let your visibly armed self into the capitol building where the king is) which leads me to believe that guardship might just be community service for criminals who aren't quite up to death-penalty levels of heinousness.

I'd be cool with that if this was not contested from some bits in the CS:

"As a castle guard, he had little else to do but stand about being bored and angry. Occassionally, he was called in to investigate crimes and settle disputes,"

Fair point. But the games are source of reference and not absolute concrete. Like is there really slums in Castle Town? I assume so even if we never really deal with them, so it's part of Sibela's character for example.

Crap in a hat guys, now we're gonna fight bosses and giant monsters that have been given godly Wisdom. They're hard enough when they're just dumb brutes.

Thanks for the accept, I'll copy the details e characters tab when I'm not on my tablet... It does not like the internal scrolling on reply boxes when trying to copy.

I was also pondering making some sort of magic-item crafter, with a wisdom shard. If we are allowed multiple characters I might toss her in for some background details, or supplyimg the party with healing potions. If only she could get hold of enough bottles to supply everyone...

Fake edit: A boss with a Wisdom shard may be smart enough not to expose it's glowing weakpoint every few attacks.

I was not aware, during the writing of the CS, that there was a difference between town and castle guard. I took it to mean that he was a guard within the walls of the castle, not literally guarding the castle castle itself. Whatever his title, I meant to say that Daurin was one of the guys stationed in the poe shop/pottery warehouse, so his duties and jurisdiction was mostly just his post and the marketplace on the occasion that somebody of lower rank/experience could do the job for him and something of import was going on.

Hah, I had a feeling Keaton Guard would get involved at some point. I just meant to say, most of the guards you can have dialogue with aren't exactly normal, and some them are downright strange, including one that's corrupt. (Or maybe he just thinks it's funny whenever they throw Link out. I'd probably do that too, honestly.) It seems that otherwise upstanding citizens that were met with circumstances unfortunate enough to drive them to commit not-extremely-serious crimes would also be allowed in.
