So, before I begin: This RP is based on things like Re:Monster, Tensei Shitara Slime datta ken, and Kumo desu ga, Nani ka? A TL;DR for them? MC is reincarnated into a parallel world!
...
As a fantasy monster, though. No hero antics here.
So, without further ado, let's begin!

Prologue

Darkness. Pitch-black darkness. Well, death was never that glamorous to begin with, but the endless expanse of nothingness was far from what you'd come to expect. Somehow, though, you're able to move. Or, well, at least, it feels like moving; you're kind of just walking endlessly on ground that doesn't even seem to exist.

A small light appears in the distance; it's meaning is yet unknown, but it seems to be the only thing different about the darkness that you've been wandering in for ages. As you near, the light grows brighter and brighter, until suddenly--!

Back to darkness. Except, this time... There is no lack of feeling, no emptiness. In fact, it could be called... Cramped. Pretty cramped, actually.

The next period of time becomes a blur; while you cannot see, you can hear. The sound of fighting, of blades clashing, of shouts, screams, and cries. And suddenly... Nothing once more.

A while longer, and you are finally able to open your eyes. Damned if you're able to move, though; you're barely able to move your eyes. Staring at the ceiling of what seems to be a cave of some sort, a few hours pass before something pulls you back into unconsciousness.

The next time you wake, things have changed... Considerably. Now able to actually move (by some way, shape, or form), you find that you're surrounded by... Creatures from fantasy stories. And... Well, not the good kind. Some of the others seem to be waking up, too; some share your reaction of confusion (to varying degrees). Others... Not so much. With pool of water nearby, your first thought (after maybe getting a drink or something), is to check the situation out and maybe get the heck away from this place before you get mauled.

Except... Well, you're one too. A monster.
What the heck?!

Summary

So. As things have turned out, you've reincarnated into the body of a monster! These creatures, colloquially referred to as such by the human population, are anything ranging from 'general nuisance' to 'threat to humanity's existence'. Your 'home' (actually the base of a race of monsters strong enough to subjugate a lot of other smaller tribes in the vicinity) was just ransacked, and the ruling group was subjugated by--you guessed it!--human adventurers. You, among with everyone else in the area, were supposed to be slaves, but their timely extermination has left you free!
...
Also fairly young and weak, but free nonetheless! Now, it's your time to shine, young monsters! Live as you wish!
...
Oh, and try not to die. That's pretty important.

Race Explanation

So, races are a bit... Different in this RP. You're not allowed to go with any of the classic 'heroic' races (things like elves, dwarves, humans, etc;), nor any of the REALLY big game-changing monsters (things like dragons or mythical beasts and the like, such as hydras and stuff). What you DO get, however, is pick of the litter from... Well, basically every other lower race. I'll be dividing these into 'humanoid' and 'nonhumanoid' for the purposes of this explanation.

Nonhumanoid monsters are... Well, generic monsters. Slimes, dire wolves, giant lizards, and basically all that good stuff that you get to see as trash mobs in a video game. As their name dictates, they really don't have any humanlike features, and thus have to fight otherwise. However, there is something unique about these guys: transformation.
Now, the thing with monsters is that their gestation period's short because they're always being hunted, and so they reproduce really fast and die really fast. If a nonhumanoid monster is able to survive (and kill) for long enough, enough magic accumulates in their body such that it transforms, changing their form into something that is... Relatively different from the one prior. Think evolution for Pokemon, except the chains get really long, have a ton of branching paths, and can sometimes end in a high-ranking humanoid monster.

Humanoid monsters are... Exactly what you'd think. Things like nagas, harpies, goblins, and so on and so forth all fall into this category. Some monsters, obviously enough, are born this way. Transformation is not as much an option to these guys, though; instead, they grow like regular humans or elves or whatever do... In a sense. The growth cycles and such of these races are much more random, and are usually different on a case-by-case basis. Instead of transforming, these races grow by becoming specialized. In some cases, such as goblins, the monster can also attain a stronger form (such as that of an ogre, for example).

As a summary of this section... You can play any sort of monster, but because of how strengths work, they'll be split into two categories and have to be run by me. Transformation works like a magic overflow, in a sense, so if you kill enough things or gather enough magic power (of a certain type; not the same stuff that's used to cast magic), you can rank up or specialize, depending on the category. There are no 'skills' or any sort of values that determine how strong or weak you are; no stats are quantifiable. I'll say when a character can perform this action, but it'll generally be to my whims. Should occur more often at the start of the RP, though, then the focus is on hunting to live and such.

Also, before I forget: NO OP STARTING ABILITIES. I know how a lot of the source series have the MC having those. We're not them. Make do with the knowledge you've got, because a smart monster is a thousand times deadlier than a feral one. THAT's your special ability.

Form

No age because... Well, you're not old enough for it to matter anyways.

Things to Note

1. Monster races are... Weird. When in doubt, try to avoid anything that originates from humans (like vengeful ghosts or the undead), mythical creatures (like those mentioned above), or... Well, things that deviate off of other things. In general, the starting power level for the group is going to be rock-bottom. Like... Beginner town level stuff. Like Dragon Quest slime level low. Humanoids will be about as weak as goblins in combat strength. I'll generally allow people to propose their own paths when the time comes, but if it gets to the point where it's too unreasonable I'll just give the choices myself. GM powers!
2. A major race that has held power over a region has just been exterminated. You've got some time to get your bearings together and group up before a power struggle breaks out. Best of luck to you.
3. Language ain't an issue; regardless of monster race, you'll be able to communicate with one another... By some way or another. Blame whatever the hell brought you here. You can't necessarily speak the language humans are speaking, though, so good luck finding a teacher.
4. Knowledge based on past life are geeeenerally what you should have. A carpenter, for example, probably knows how to work wood to some extent. That's not to say that you should NEED them, but... Hey, knowledge is power. I don't want, like, seven doctors on the squad, though. That's just plain stupid.
5. Though you may have been a human once, you aren't any more. Be ready to have your characters face a lot of moral dilemmas in this world, because it sure as hell ain't pretty.

That... Should be about it for a proposal. Any questions? Comments? Reactions? lemme know down below if I can't tune anything up.

  • Name: Ariana
  • Race: 'Delicate' Drider
  • Race Abilities: Ariana, as a 'delicate' drider, can produce silk from the more-spidery portion of her body. As is visible, from the thighs down she has a spider body, allowing her to climb walls as well. She is remarkably agile, and a excellent jumper.
  • Gender: Female
  • Personality: Ariana is a little bit shy. She can be somewhat nervous and awkward around people, especially new people. However, this does not at all hide the fact that she is also quite surly. Ariana will complain about others doing things she sees as stupid, pout, glare, and make sarcastic remarks. Her shyness sometimes makes her more inclined to retreat, but if she's annoyed enough there won't be any end to her insults. She isn't utterly uncaring, but her words can come across as quite cruel at times. This is in part because she does not really know how to handle having friends of any sort. Ariana has a very strong sweet tooth, unaffected even by the whole "suddenly my legs are a spider" thing.
  • History (Pre-Mortem): Ariana didn't really have a particularly outstanding life. She was mostly just a rather unpopular second year high school student due to her shyness and surly nature. She doesn't actually remember her death. It was so sudden that she has no actual idea what killed her.
  • Appearance:"Wh-why did I have to end up with all these extra l-legs?! Wh-who needs this many?!" She is very small, as 'Delicate' Driders are at tops four feet in height.
  • Other: N/A

I don't really have anything else for backstory.

Whee~

  • Name: Goodiva
  • Race: Slime
  • Race Abilities: Delightfully squishy and pliable, slimes are highly resistant to blunt trauma and can squeeze themselves through tight cracks without much effort. Little more than a ball of protoplasm, they "eat" simply by absorbing things into their bodies, and by absorbing water they can increase their size and strength... Although if they absorb too much they become too diluted and end up as a useless puddle until they dehydrate enough to regain consistency.
  • Gender: Female (you can tell by the ribbon!)
  • Personality: Inquisitive, curious and a little dim, really. She's somewhat shy but also easily excitable, and has a tendency to overreact to really minor things. She's pretty kindhearted, though, and always wants to help others if she can; even though she can't do much as a slime, she'll still do whatever she can.
  • History (Pre-Mortem): A kind of ordinary, boring girl with an ordinary, boring life. Nothing really notable happened and she kind of just drifted along aimlessly, until the day she died pushing a kid out of the way of an oncoming truck. Suffice to say, she didn't get out of the way on time.
  • Appearance: (only about a foot tall)

Wondering if you are still accepting characters? If so, this is a rough draft of mine.

I'm working on mine, right now. I gotta wonder, though, do kobolds count as humanoid, or non-humanoid? I mean, they're bipedal, and can use weapons... but they're also reptilian, and have a tail... hm...

Well, everyone who's already been accepted can put theirs in the Characters tab.
Vita's should be fine now, too.

Speaking of which...

Here's mine! :D

@Bruised Bananna: Well, it's fine as a rough draft, but...
The character needs an actual name, for one. And second... I don't think you'd consider scratching an ability... Unless you count punching an ability, too. Just saying.
I'll give a real once-over once a finald raft arrives, then.

Edit: To Lugia: Nonhumanoid, but can transition into humanoid very early in development.

I was honestly torn between having my Kobold be more lizard like or more like a dog, since in folklore, they are supposed to be wolf like.

Decided to go with a lizard, in the end though. Since in Folklore there are also three types of Kobolds. Ones that live in mines/caves, water spirits, and house spirits.

@LugiaGnolls are hyenas, so technically they're closer to cats. XD

Then again, they were originally supposed to be gnome/troll hybrids, hence the name. Thankfully they decided that was a horrifying concept and just made them the hyenamen we love to hate. :D

As PKMNBOY knows I have already picked out what will most likely be the entire transformation line for my monster and I think I have the option to cover a couple bases, starting with a physical attacker (with magic potential in the first form) depending on the path I can end up with a tank or air support. There was a path that focused on magic but since that was a nekomata line that branch will most likely be dropped if bruised bananna is accepted. Speaking of which @Bruised Bananna this link might give Nekomato B a third form

Name: Simba
Race: Kneazle
Race Abilities: Besides the normal abilities any overly large housecat has, Kneazles can tell if a person/monster is trustworthy.
Gender: Male
Personality: Generally Simba prefers lazing around compared to working, however convince him that something is actually important and he will help you out. Because of how he died he suffers from a minor form of Aquaphobia. Despite his flaws though he is generally a nice guy.
History (Pre-Mortem): Before dying Simba was the only child in a family of nature lovers. Every year he and his parents would go on a camping trip, something which he kinda enjoyed. While on one of those trips the human Simba went swimming and due to getting his leg stuck drowned.
Appearance (Text or image, whatever works):

Think about it this way... if you've ever played an RPG, just about as weak, if not weaker than, the first magic spells you'd get. IE: FF's Fire spell. If you didn't get any of that, I'll just write it out as I'd put it in the app.

Fire Spell: Plain kobolds have the ability to cast a weak fire ball spell. Said fire spell is more useful in making campfires than it is in combat, though, it does, at least give them an option to use whatever little magic they actually have.
