I hear Skylar running to catch up with me, and I would have proceeded onward with her in tow, but her hand caught my sleeve abruptly, and she told me it probably wasn't a good idea to follow the creature. Apparently, it's a child. Well, uh... huh.

'Well, jeez, that would be awkward, huh? Two random adult humans following a... cake... monster... child...?' I muse. Now, thinking about it, I can't imagine anyone would think well of us for following said cake child. On the other hand... 'But I mean, what else can we do?' I ask Skylar quizzically. 'We don't exactly have anywhere else we can go, do we? That cave from before wasn't particularly navigable, and I only see one other exit from this room on the other side of that there bridge.' I point to emphasize my statement, first at the entrance behind us, and then again at the doorway on the bridge's opposite end. And since we're on the topic of the bridge...

'I think we have to go that way, whether we like it or not. Especially since our guide's already halfway across the chasm. HEY, EEEE!' I yell, trying to catch the ghost's attention. Can't let him wander off on his own, right?

'its eeeeeeeeeeee!' he calls back. 'also, sorry about that! hurry up though, this bridge needs to be bridged by you humans, and if we don't go over the- wait, talking too much again! sorry again!'

Nina listened as Ash explained how it was ok to fight the pillow. ”So, it’s more like a wild animal than a person. This is the same as if we were being attacked by a bear, or something...” Nina could understand that, and with a potential dilemma out of the way, she could actually fight now.

Fluffy Pillow – ATK 2 DEF 10
Stuffed full of feathers and magic. Surprisingly sturdy!

That’s a lot of defence for a pillow… although considering the whole “punch a pillow when you’re angry” thing, they’d have to be strong. Of course pillows aren’t alive on the surface, so what’s logic got to do with anything here? Ash’s attack was about to land, and Nina felt another pillow hit her, on the leg this time.

HP 4/28

”Really?!” Nina tried to grab the little monster before it could get away, but couldn’t. She couldn’t move at all. Just then, the pillow Ash had attacked was sliced open, and shot out feathers in every direction. Her mind went blank for a split second, if she couldn’t move, she couldn’t doge. It looked like at least two of the feathers would hit her, and that would be enough to kill her at this point.

She closed her eyes and waited.

And… nothing. She opened her eyes to see Ash in front of her, holding a couple of the quills that had hit him… Quills that would have hit her. Ash glanced at her before asking about the trap she’d set. ”Probably? I’ve never not been able to dodge an attack like that before.” She paused for a second and thought. She could only place one trap on each of her turns, so it made sense that if one didn’t get used it would just fade away and she’d have to re-set one on the next turn.

She took a moment to look around. Ash’s saw had caused a counter-attack, sure, but it did do damage to the pillow monster. Now that they knew what the counter was like, they could dodge it by ducking or jumping instead of trying to move to the side and getting hit anyway, then the pillow would be at a disadvantage. Some of the feathers from the pillow’s attack had hit other pillows in the background, and she could see them starting to move away, probably so they don’t get hit again.

”Yeah, it got messed up, but it doesn’t really matter. May I have the quills you got hit with? I’ll throw them back at the pillow, and you can use your saw again. Just don’t doge to the sides, but rather duck or jump to avoid the quills this time.” As she finished speaking, she felt the immobility wear off. She set another trap on her grid and readied herself to dodge, keeping an eye out for any more pillows that would try to hit her.

♥ Ash

Ash nodded his head and roughly ripped the quills from his bones with a grunt. Though things weren't going well originally, Nina seemed to have a plan, so Ash went with it. Even if he wasn't normally the kind of guy who followed orders, she was about dead and he wasn't exactly in top condition. These trying times forced even him into uncomfortable positions. What could you do? Oh yeah, kill the thing that put you in said position!

Ash roughly threw the quills of the beast he was about to slaughter back to his partner, before aggressively spinning his blade, building the momentum and getting into the perfect position, before ATTACKing and letting the thing rip its way through more pillow. This time, the both of them would avoid the wrath of the fluffy abominations.

The monster child stopped frequently to look between the three before it, before circling the small area before the bridge and pointing a tendril off to the side, "Bu buh bububu..." Itching the side of it's head with the same tendril, and then looking down thoughtfully, it finally went real close to the edge and pointed down.

Nearing the City

One of the pillows punctured by feathers seemed to cartwheel with some difficulty, but it seemed to fall in sync with a less damaged pillows attack, both cartwheeling to the monster from different directions...though this time they had no element of surprise, and further more, Ash's attack on another pillow sent more quills flying, throwing off the damaged pillow entirely.

A larger, floppier pillow with a handful of feather's embedded in it just flipped and landed smack dab on one of the laid out traps--

"Oh NO!" A loud neigh...a horse-headed monster, standing way away from this fight, was pointing at the attacking fluffy pillows...particularly, one of the undamaged pillows that seemed to have changed direction from entering the fray, and instead seemed to be heading straight for him.

Nina easily caught the two quills as Ash threw them to her, and she took a breath before tossing them back at the first pillow like darts. Her attack and Ash's landed at about the same time, so she didn't have much time to dodge. She had noticed another pillow starting to head towards her, so instead of ducking like she was going to before, she jumped and stayed suspended in the air for a moment by her Web-like trap grid, avoiding the pillow and the quills that Ash's attack had caused again.

The pillow flopped right into the trap she'd set, allowing her to pick it up and take the quills that it had been hit with. Adding them to the few quills she'd also caught from the most recent spray, she had 6. She threw two of them at the first pillow that had attacked them before hearing the loud neigh from somewhere not too far away.

She looked over her shoulder to see the horse-like monster watching a Pillow come towards himself, and wondered for a second what to do. She could ignore it, perhaps horse-man can get out of his situation on his own, but that didn't really seem right. With a quiet sigh she turned and tossed her remaining four darts at the rouge pillow, hoping that'd slow it down enough for the guy to get away.
