@DarkwolfX37 It happens. There's one RP I'm in now where I gave a character the power to simply be immovable, and the GM somehow extrapolated that she was a universe ending entropy bomb. It was a funny conversation.

I can actually totally see that. If they're genuinely unmovable then that would mess with spacetime in all sorts of terrible ways.

Which is precisely not what I had in mind. I was very much tempted to bring in that "physics kills catgirls" image that I've seen around :)

Fortunately, we were able to sort it out.

B-but... But don't kill catgirls... Physics save catgirls, not hurt them. It does, however, kill magical girls.

@AcerRo If me and Biscuits do a collab, can Brooks move over to Abi and stop being held at gunpoint? We literally can't write anymore, since we're running out of filler for posts that are essentially "Brooks/Abi stand there with their hands up." If you could just tell us OOC if Eli's going to lower his gun in his next post then we'd save a lot of time.

@Stitches Not to usurp Acer's authority over this situation like Nate did to Eli but I tried to begin to wrap things up a bit so we could move on. I didn't want to absolutely force Acer's hand though.

You guys post again. As intense as Eli is, he's not gonna hurt or shoot anyone without reason. Move slowly and don't make him think anything is going on and all will be good.

So you guys want your characters to be somewhere, get there now. My next post is gonna move things along. If your character as a fighting bone, we're gonna need it.

After holding them both at gunpoint, throwing death threats and reducing one of them to tears I -highly- doubt Abi or Brooks will even consider helping in the fight. I should actually bring this up now; neither of them have any solid excuse to remain with the group at all, let alone help them. I'm going to try and make some bullshit up to keep them around but the only reason they haven't gotten into the truck and headed out of the town is because Eli was too busy pointing a gun at them. Idk if you want to bring in your pal Julian, or maybe I can work out a way to wound Abi/incapacitate her so she can't be moved away from the group as she recovers, but we need some concrete excuse to keep these two from fleeing. Any ideas that any of you have will be much appreciated.

@Stitches Who says we'll let them leave? MWAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!

But yeah, that is a valid point. To be honest, I always thought that the only reason JJ stuck around was because she wanted answers. Maybe Brooks and Abigail are the same?

Abi and Brooks are very...practical people, I think that's the best way to describe them. I don't think they particularly want to get to the bottom of this; they really want to keep their heads down and wait until everything blows over. Given the chance, I doubt either of them would use their powers at all unless they're in a life-threatening situation. The plan was always to get out, disappear for a few years until their names are no longer on the news, then regroup and rebuild. Wandering headlong into trouble isn't on their to-do list, and so far the group's been nothing but trouble. In the collab, Abi's going to spin the situation so it's less "These people want to kill us" and more "if we play our cards right, we'll have free food, free lodging and a team of superpowered bodyguards, and we have nowhere else to run to" but even that's only going to keep them around until whatever fight AcerRo has planned comes up.

The most annoying part is the inability to use sentimental/emotional excuses to keep them around. I doubt Brooks is going to make friends at all, and Abi may be warm and friendly on the outside but she's also 100% ready to bail if things go south. They don't give a shit about the group, only each other. There needs to be an incentive for them to stay. I only know of one idea, and I want to avoid that unless I really have to use it, and that'd be blackmail; whoever Julian Guiderone is he'd probably know who Abi and Brooks really are. One quick phonecall telling them to stay put or face the cops and they'd co-operate. But...it's just a really clunky, forced way of doing things and brings in an NPC who seems far too important to delve into such petty matters.

Based on the last post so far, I think it would be safe to assume no one is going to be shot. I think enough "reasoning" has been thrown around to keep Eli from going ape shit for no good reason and to lower his gun seeing that both Brooks & Abi are cooperating.

To your point, @Stitches, I don't know why any of our characters would be mixed up this right now who isn't (in some way) already forced to. The "powered people" are being hunted by a shadowy organization that would rather put a bullet in your head than keep you around to talk it through, and I think just that threat a lone keeps everyone either moving, or sticking with a group they can trust as there is safety in numbers.

...However, yes, I do believe Eli is smart enough not to kill a couple of people who he may find to be allies in the end, so I think you are okay to post with this assumption.

My thought was that since Brooks seems to be good at "reading" people to a degree, perhaps he was able to surmise that Eli wasn't out to kill either one of them and takes point on the conversation from there. Something that can wrap this whole mess up, yeah?

I have an idea of how to possibly give them a reason to stick around, but it would require my character being introduced... I'm away from home on a phone so when I get back later I'll expand on what I'm thinking could work.

Edit: So we know a fight is coming. My idea is really just: Violet sees whoever is coming from the woods, possibly after diverting Joseph's course after seeing him use his power (depends on the obvious two factors of if @memetrash101 is okay with a collab intro and if he's okay with one involving this) and heads to the mine with him thinking that it would make a good spot to hide in while they pass. The reason I'm giving this as a reason for Abi and Brooks to stay is that Violet is going to consider anyone with powers and/or survived the gala as a precious test subject, and would forcibly keep them around (at least for the fight, since if the people she ran from suddenly showed up, she'd try to make everyone get into the mine until they were gone/dead.) She'd also be somewhat likely to throw their truck at the enemies, so there's that. That would get everyone in one spot and stuck there until the fight was over.

Anyway, if that's not plausible just let me know and I'll try to BS up another reason.

Nope, that wouldn't work at all. In fact, that's even more likely to get violet killed...if people tried to force them to stay abi and Brooks would see them as a threat and probably 'get rid of them' before running away themselves.

Also, how the heck is a 15 yr old going to throw a truck?

I just spent probably 1-2 hours trying to do the math before finding out that I have no idea how to turn the two results into a single result. ;-;

So the TL;DR is that she can A) lessen it's weight and B) increase her force. She'd really just be flipping it but throwing sounds cooler.

@DarkwolfX37 Not to mention the fact that a truck being throw through the air will probably start a civil war...

I think this next scene is being over-complicated, so for now, let's assume things are de-escalating after Nate's sudden intervention:

@Stitches If you and/or @Biscuits wants to post then go ahead. So Abi & Brooks didn't get the warmest welcome, but we all now know why were here (for the most part) and I'm hoping that @AcerRo's next post to allow us all to work together against whatever it is that's coming...

Yeah, I'm trying to diffuse the situation in our collab. Biscuits isn't awake yet but I'll pester him to keep writing, we'll see how it goes instead of flipping trucks. Atm the collab is..60-70% done and we'll finish it today, hopefully.
