(Creds to つくぐ)
"To follow, without halt, one aim: that's the secret of success"
-Anna Pavlova
(Stands at 5' kawaii as hell ladies and gents)

Name: Анастасия Алкаев (Anastasia Alkaev)

Nickname: Red

Age: Seventeen

Gender: Female

Race: Human (Russian)

Personality:
Anastasia's personality is an elusive thing to chronicle. During her time as an assassin, putting on a pretty face as a facade was a common occurrence. Now what the world sees is a girl who is cheerful as she is scary. While most would expect her to be a scatterbrain or a gung-ho Russian Little Red Riding Hood with a few grenades in Granny's basket, they couldn't be any more wrong. Though she may have a lax demeanor, her actions are calculated and scrupulous, paying the highest attention to the ever-changing scenery. The girl can make you laugh until you're in tears, or beat the daylights out of you for the same result. Get close to her, and you'll find an individual who can switch her character on the time, kind of like a switch. Bite at her, and she'll bite back. Be affable with her, and she'll be a loyal friend.

Her grandfather always told her to never get used to killing. A ceased life is something that should be seen off with a haughty laugh. That's somebody's kid right there. Somebody's legacy, forever severed. People should be respectful to the deceased.

She also has a soft spot for fluffy things. Kitsunes beware.

Abilities:
  • Metal Manipulation - To put it simply, the control over metallic objects and can alter their kinetic and potential energy. In laymen's terms, she can fling shit around and stop it on a dime. Now this sounds pretty broad so let's clarify on what it actually entails. Her ability itself only has a total range of 25 meters, and the larger the entity the quicker she tires out. Even though she's red a fair amount of manga (a prime and reliable source of reference) to become versed with Japan's culture, she is quite aware that her powers are finite. A good rest suffices to recharge her stamina, but her ability is not something she uses loosely or recklessly.

It's safe to say that her capabilities clock out at weight equivalent to a steel beam. To clarify, metallic alloys and malleable metals provide optimal resonance, meanwhile on the total opposite end of the spectrum are Earth metals, which she downright refuses to deal with. Also, metal that's already been integrated into the foundations of infrastructure are practically impossible to control. So don't worry, Anastasia won't be toppling skyscrapers and glorious Capitalism anytime soon. Maybe the latter. But since the ability can be tiring, she tends to only use in between a bear and a hard place, or only for small objects she can use as projectiles at a moment's notice.

Propelling an object isn't something she can instantly, unless if she intends for its speed to be somewhat slow. To send something flying or whizzing, she needs to charge and build up potential energy, then launch it.

Another useful perk of the ability is that she can control her guns. This isn't implying that she can direct their fire while they're afloat. A good assassin never blind fires. Instead, she can just grab on and "fly" with it.

Skills:
  • Marksmanship: - Though her dominion over metallic objects may provide assistance to her in hitting whatever's on the other end of the barrel, hours of training and critiques, coupled with her innate accuracy has made her far exceed the esteemed title of crackshot.
  • Guise - Expressions and personalities are something Anastasia uses interchangeably. Though she may not have any mature or generally considered alluring qualities, putting on a bright facade can instantly ease somebody right where she wants 'em.
  • Quick Thinking - Adaptability is one of Anastasia's strong suits. Evolving or evolution are terms used for the development of a species over time by the expression of traits that provide leverage in certain environments. But time is not a commodity Anastasia has to leisure to relish. When assignments go haywire, it was her ability to swiftly process changes that got her out alone.
  • Fisticuffs - Don't get in a fist fight with her. Or a bar fight. Russian bias too stronk.

Equipment:
  • VKS - A straight-pull bolt-action sniper rifle developed to replace the inadequate VSS, fires a 12.7x55mm subsonic round. She has the tendency to casually walk around with it slung over her shoulder. Tends to scare people shitless.
  • PSM(Pistolet Samozaryadny Malogabaritny) - Communism's little friend. Compact, concealable, and chambered in 5.45x18mm, Anastasia has used this pistol on many occasions when curt acting and small time frames were involved.
  • Brass Knuckles - Fisticuffs time.

Backstory:
Our story begins a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far awa- Wait a sec, isn't that the intro to some movie? Star, Star something... Oh right! Star Trek! Erm... let's see if this wo-

NAAAAAAAAAANTS INGONYAMA BAGITHI BABA Sithi uhm ingony- Дерьмо! We're going to get copyrighted! Okay, okay, just tell the story. I have to go clean my sniper rifle. Now where did I put it...? Pretty sure I hid it under the dog...

Surely most, if not all of you have heard of fable known as Little Red Riding Hood? A tale that dates back all the way to the 17th century which revolves around a young girl, dubbed for her cerise apparel and petite stature. It’s a story told with an endearing and mollifying voice by the bedside, intended to solidify the antitheses of the safety of the village and the dangers of the forest. Chances are even you were graced by the events of this aged story. Much like wine, a tale ferments and gains flavor overtime. What you remember from your younger days was most likely the sanitized version, the one safe for youthful sheltered minds. You surely recall Red’s iconic series of innocent and painfully naive queries, yeah? ”Oh grandma, what a deep voice you have! Goodness, big eyes you have! Oh how bloody blind I am because I can’t tell that this is obviously a damn wolf” And all the while granny is restrained in the closet and a nearby hunter saves Red when the wolf made its advance on her. Thus another happy ending bearing a valuable life lesson that we’ll surely use as a crutch later on.

But as already stated, that was the lighter version. Another depicts Granny and Red consumed by the wolf, who then takes a snooze shortly thereafter. This time around, the hunter cuts open the wolf’s stomach and after he frees the two unharmed victims fills it with stones. When the wolf awakened, he made an attempt to flee but soon collapsed and died. Sure that just made you go “holy shit” and laid a steamy one right on your childhood. Let’s not even talk about the 17th century French iteration. Now that’s a pretty messed up story. Little Red even unknowingly cannibalizes her own grandmother!

But let’s just say for argument’s sake it was little girl in a red hood instead of a burly man with a hatchet. And instead of a wolf, it was a corrupt politician more right-winged than Hitler. And rather than a serrated edge, a 12.7x55mm SC-130VPS subsonic round traveling at three-hundred meters a second, permeating the parietal bone, lobe, and left femur of a close passenger.

The story of Little Red Riding Hood was just one of the many Anastasia’s grandfather gifted her to fill the void of frozen Russian nights. He bequeathed unto the girl many fables by the mollifying hearth, a fair amount revolved around himself and his service in the war. There was the time in the midst of the East Prussian Offensive he disabled a Panzer IV(H) with a RPG-6 and executed the tank’s Untersturmführer with his own luger. Or the series of events that could plausibly be called happenstances that lead to his position in the Solntsevskaya Bravta, which he operates in with his normal demeanor, unlike others who live two-faced lives. Personal anecdotes and fairy tales alike were loved by young Anastasia. Even at her age she knew fully well her grandfather wasn’t a lawful man. But he was a dedicated man, one who would do anything for his family.

It was at an ordinary dinner that Anastasia’s lurking powers surfaced. Her grandfather, as lovable and conscientious a man he was, he couldn’t tell jokes for the life of him. So when he attempted to crack an abhorred ”In Soviet Russia…” pun, he found a steak knife flying straight for his nose. He couldn’t even breathe in the time that it took the knife to traverse the distance. The man was surprised not by the speed of the silverware, but by how abruptly it stopped and nonchalantly floated in open air. Needles to say he and every soul at that table was left in awe, all the while innocent Anastasia continued to indulge herself in veggies.

Anastasia’s parents were horrified, and that’s putting it lightly. But as a man who has truly seen some shit, her grandfather saw potential. A seed that needed to be cultivated and cared for properly. Since her parents enjoyed the bliss of normalcy almost as if it was a drug, they happily shoved custody over to her grandfather. She had already spent so much time over at the senior's house that the change was almost seamless.

If people really, really, really don't like other people, then even one's life force could by quantified by a price tag. The Solntsevskaya Bravta, being the largest and most influential Russian crime syndicate, spend a majority of its time on the dark side of the spectrum. Racketeering, trafficking (both human and drug), prostitution, gun running, laundering, organ trade of the illegal variety, you name it and they've at the least dabbled in it. The brotherhood has of course been involved in murders, or rather, assassinations. Anything to retain their bearing with oligarch. Sometimes there are hurdles you must overcome. Rather than waste the effort and resources to leap over it, why not pay somebody else to knock it down entirely? And that's where little Anastasia comes in.

It would be feasible to say that she inherited both her grandfather's consummate perception and his vibrant wit. With the man as her personal trainer, he mentored the girl with a kind yet blunt tone. Even though this was a grandfather training her family member to be a living, breathing gun, last thing he wanted was for the girl to slip up when it truly mattered. Whenever she fell short of expectations, she was met with a silent nod of acceptance and told to try again. And if she fell short again, she would try again. It's not only practice that makes perfect. It's also having an experienced hand to guide you the right you that helps. Though her missions were not many at first, after a while she knew that each one entailed another life she would have to extinguish. She devoutly served the brotherhood and always made sure to get the job done, because she knew that no matter how much her grandfather loved her, one hiccup and the Brutva would cut off all ties and any affiliation.

It was shortly after her grandfather's unexpected passing that she did just that. She messed up. The private military force escorting a certain politician didn't find her, but that didn't mean the Brutva wouldn't tie up loose ends. As long as she was alive, she was a liability.

So she ran.

Her grandfather made sure the girl knew what she should do if things went south, and now that they did, she fled with her lessons and a reliable amount of cash. She enlarged the gap between the Brutva and herself so much that she wound up in the Far East. More specifically, Japan. Yep, good old Nihon! Making the trip was a piece of cake for Anastasia, save for the few encounters and skirmishes she had along the way.

It was at a desolate camping ground that it happened. The warm Japanese nights starkly contrasted with those she knew like the rifling of her VSK. Sleeping outside was a cinch for her. Her would have slept until sunrise and continued on to a nearby city, had her acute senses not picked up a couple presences mid-slumber. From the perch of a tree branch she peered down upon two women, nondescript and with no distinguishable characters. Until they broke out a handful of convenience store rice balls.

Anastasia, for the first time in over a decade, lost faith in the perception of her eyes. The back of their skulls split and contorted to form an arrangement of lips, teeth, and a mouth that unhinged with a petrifying crack. Futakuchi-onna. Youkai. Though they referred to by a different name in Russia, Anastasia had some pocket knowledge on beings that roamed the Earth alongside humans. Silent and unnoticed, the girl listened in attentively as two rear mouths gouged on food chock full with preservatives. It was obvious that they were on a journey due to the sizable bags. In her eavesdrop she picked up the location "Imaginary District" a few times. The two yokai had enough of living under a face. Anastasia could respect that, not wanting to live a two-faced life anymore. The place sounded pretty safe, a haven almost from how they described it. Finally the little Russian descended from her perch and held them at gunpoi- asked them nicely to go into more depth, and more importantly, if she could tag along. Needless to say the two Youkai complied after seeing a floating sidearm.

She never anticipated the wonders that awaited her.

Obviously Anastasia isn't in the killing business anymore. The innovative girl has found other ways to support herself. At the moment, she is a student of a local high school, but is surrounded in mystery.

Name: Sho Baba
Age: 23 (look 17)
Gender: Male
Race: Demon
Appearance:

Personality: Sho is exceptionally friendly, excitable, eager to please and perhaps a little on the vapid side things. He easily forgets things and has a tendency to lose his train of thought. More often than not, any work space he has becomes a refuge for forgotten projects and piled up comic books, to the frustration of coworkers. Still, he’s fearless when it comes to meeting new people (even when it would probably be wise) or getting into a good old fashioned street brawl.

Abilities:
Golden Fleece: Sho possesses a durability that rivals some modern tanks. Sho is hearty enough that you could drop cars on him all day and he’d walk off with only a few bruises and cuts worse for wear (provided you were nice enough to lift the cars off of him). He is not shy about taking advantage of this trait, often looking for high places to drop from for elbow drops, or actively throwing himself into blows as a form of 'blocking'.
Demon Muscles: Bog standard increased strength and agility over humans. Boring but useful.
Skills:
Brawler: While Sho lacks the discipline and focus needed to learn a proper martial art, he’s become quiet adept in hand to hand combat and has made a small name for himself as a street brawler.
Street wise: While not exactly brilliant, Sho is well verse in petty street crime tactics, at least on the criminal end.
Equipment:
Knuckle dusters: For adding a little more punch to his er….punches.
Cell phone
Brief Backstory:
Show grew up in one of the poorer neighborhoods of Miura City, his father eking out a living on paychecks almost too small to support himself, much less a kid. Not that either seemed to mind much, his dad was a man of few words and even few house visits and Sho seemed content to busy himself with school or the literal horde of other kids that flooded the streets. It was a happy, if boring existence. The worst it ever got was when they argued about school, Sho never being able to do better than barely pass.

As he grew older, Sho eventually got involved with a minor street gang. School was largely a waste of his time, after all, and he doubted anything he’d learn in his senior year would stick. Nothing else had. The group spent most of its time menacing arcades, restaurants, or getting into fist fights with other local gangs. A nuisance, to be sure, but a minor one that the I.D.P.D often turned a blind eye to in favor of bigger menaces. Sho, for his part, didn’t do much to rock the boat, enticed by free food and games (and only having to occasionally knock some jerk on their butt when they came to the wrong set of streets). It barely registered as a big deal to him until one day a back alley brawl grew out of control, spilling over into the streets. Random passer-by were pulled into the brawl, and began desperately throwing blows in an attempt to escape the hellmouth he and his companions had unintentionally started.

He’s still not sure how he ended on the business end of the truck going forty, but he remembers that it hurt like hell. He, as did the rest of the thugs involved in the fight, scattered like roaches, there being few things that can stop a street brawl than attempted vehicular manslaughter. The next few days were…weird, to say the least. For one, he was still reeling from the fact that he was not dead( hell, not even hurt that badly). That was, in and of itself, cause for some concern, albeit better than the alternative. Another matter of pressing concern was his rapidly greying hair, greater strength, reddening eyes, horns, ears which became floppy fuzzy bastardizations of their former selves, and a disturbingly increased urge to bleat occasionally.

If his dad knew what was going on, he did not say for the first few days of the transformation, watching as Sho struggled with perhaps the worst phase of puberty known to man. After a week, the transformation stabilized and Sho had the pleasure of being introduced to his mother for the first time in seventeen years of life. The buxom elder sheepie Demon did not match the image he had in his head of the person his dad had told him had walked out on both of them long ago. She explained his true nature (and uncomfortably the union associated with his birth. A remarkably mundane tale of online dating ) before shepherding him to the Imaginary District.
It has been six years since then, and Sho has adapted incredibly well, given the situation. He grew into his new abilities quickly and is barely phased by even the most bizarre yokai. Though his experience in street crime had led to his powers awakening, it had still left a bad taste in his mouth, and joining the M.Y.O seemed like a good way to make up for all that he’d done when he was young. That, and it seemed like a good way to kill a couple of hours outside of the house. Win win right?

  • Name: Kuro Tamagi
  • Age:157 (Old enough to have a good grasp at youkai abilities, young enough to be a smug idiot)
  • Gender:Male
  • Race:Baketanuki
  • Appearance: Kuro can take many appearances, but his actual, most common appearance is that of a young, 5'10'' dashing young man, dressing in an immaculate white suit with a brown striped tie, expensive italian shoes, and black gloves. His short black hair is combed backwards, and he has dark bags under his brown beady eyes. Like all tanuki he also has sizable junk. His TRUE appearance also includes round-shaped racoon ears, a bushy ringed tail, rings around the eyes and also sizable junk.
  • Personality: Kuro is an ambitious raccoon from the Tamagi clan, who has grown tired of the stale old ways of a lot of youkai, and has reinvented himself as successful, yet ruthless and self-conceited businessman. Kuro puts a lot of emphasis in his personal benefit and wealth, and he's not above tricking people for his own ends. He also dislikes other kinds of shapeshifters like foxes and mujin, and in the case of foxes, he also envies their other magical abilities and overall better standing. He also seems to know the importance of caring for one's underlings, even if he truly sees them as disposable pieces. Deep down, he's just someone with deep insecurities, and that hides his own weakness behind his money making skills.
  • Abilities:
Transformation Master: As a tanuki, his transformation skill surpasses that of foxes, and can take any humanoid form or shape without great effort, and somewhat inanimate objects, being able to fool almost all mundane detection devices. Although this is only apperance wise, having none of the durability nor skills of the people he copies. Almost all his transformation have a flaw, though, as they retain his raccoon "attribute" (which is shown "elsewhere" in the case of female transformations). He can hide this flaw, however, but only for limited periods of time. His mastery is such that he can even fool supernatural detection means, but like with his flaw removal, it can only be done for a short amount of time.
Tanuki Illusions: Like foxes, Kuro can create vivid, longstanding, multisensorial illusions which are quite realistic and hard to shake off. However, unlike more elder tanukis and foxes, he does require a sizable material component (IE: leaves) in order for them to work properly. Without them, he's only limited to personal illusions or short-limited ones. As a skilled illusionist, it's pretty hard to trap him into one too.
Animal Senses and agility: Kuro has heightened smell, hearing and nightvision. He also can move more deftly than an average human.
  • Skills:
Aikido: Since Tanuki are usually non-confrotational beings, Kuro isn't the best fighter out of there and he has learned aikido in hopes of redirecting opponents attack against him. It'd probably not work on good martial artists, however.
Information SkillsAs a businessman of the ruthless sort, Kuro is good at deducting things and finding secrets about rivals, in an effort to overturn the situations with better intel. He's also decent with computers too.
Midas Touch: Like foxes and other tanukis, being a spirit of good fortune actually makes Kuro a good money-raiser. He instinctively knows which are the best ways to get money and funding, and he is imbued with great luck in gambling and business endeavours.
  • Equipment:
    Suit
    Cellphone
    Bag of Leaves
    His junk
  • Brief Backstory: Kuro was born in the forests of rural japan, although he came to witness the rise of the industrial revolution. Thus, the young tanuki learned to adapt quickly to the ever changing eras, and he wisened up enough to actually survive so many changes in such short time. However, he grew arrogant and confident, and usually clashed with the elder's more conservative dogma of not trying to interfere too much with human business. Kuro was fairly confident that such a thing would eventually lead the tanukis into a rocky spot and thus raised a concern and a rebellion among the Tamagi clan.

His voice and modernized manners attracted some of the youths, but it wasn't enough. Kuro wanted more. He had become embezzled with the bright, modern world, and he entered the spiral of consumism and materialism like a child greedily eats an ice cream. The Imaginary district, the intersection between the two worlds is a perfect ground for his plans and machinations, and he has ever since set up home in there, waiting for the business chances to make him a top figure in both worlds.

  • Name: Ricardo Caballero "Rickie" Ph.D.
  • Age:30
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Hooman
  • Appearance: (OOC: Can't find a decent pic) Rather tall and broad- about 1.85 m (that's 6ft for non metric), with a certain pudgy appearance. Brown eyes, olive tan skin, an awesome bandido moustache which some people ridicule and scruffy short hair. He has a cut scar in the side of his forehead. Ricardo usually dresses in comfortable shirts and jeans. He also carries a longcoat with lots of pockets to hide foodstuffs and various notebooks and implements.
  • Personality:Ricardo is a guy who likes his personal space, so he doesn't like crowds, and excessively pushy people. He even hesitates when he has to adress strangers. He possesses slightly depressive traits and low self esteem, however he is kind and usually takes jokes well, and often makes japes. Ricardo is a big fan of science, as well as mythology, with a side of history and tales of chivalry. He is also a man of honor, and upholds his given word as much as he can even if that would go in his detriment. He suffers no cheaters nor liars and despises malicious people. However, Ricardo also houses a darker side when angered and he can be pretty vindictive with people that try hard at crossing the line.
  • Abilities:
Affinity:Unknown - He still has to discover it.
Mimicry: Mimicry, the ability of imitation. Ricardo awakened to this ability recently. It allows him to discern and replicate mundane skills and knowledges after seeing it only once or twice. It also works on supernatural spells aswell. Although this doesn't means that he'd become a master in martials arts after seeing one. One thing is to know how it works, and the other do the actual worked. Hencefort, not all the actual spells and skills he can copy would be able to be employed by him, as he probably lacks the body conditioning or supernatural nature (even though he has good reserves of mana) . Even successful copied abilities are shoddy and cobbled together when first used, but they can be quite the trumph card if used well. It's specially great to learn new languages and technical skills, tho.
  • Skills:
Basic Forever Alone Life Skills: Yup, he can do his own chores acceptably. His food is "military rations" grade, though.
Scientific Method: Being a Ph.D. in Physics means that Ricardo is actually very knowledgeable about the human science, and ever since he awoken his mimicry ability, this is rapidly expanding into chemistry, biology, medicine, and forensic science. He's the go-guy for techy talk.
Tech Whizz: Similarly, his computer and electronics skill seem to go by hand with the previous statement. He can not only hack and disable electronic and computers, he can make them. And Improvised Explosive Devices too but you'd really need to make him angry by stealing his manga or something.
High Threshold: Rickie has a remarkably high pain threshold.
Drunk Karaoke Master: The guy is just that good with the alcohol and mic in his hands. For human standards. And only on western songs. Um. He's not that good.
  • Equipment:
    Notebook and pen
    Lighter
    Small switchblade
    Chocolate Candy Bars
    Cellphone and wallet- Currently Stolen
  • Brief Backstory:
Ricardo Caballero was once a somewhat bright student in Physics in Europe. He studied hard, was a total D&D nerd, had good grades and brilliant dreams, and travelled half across europe. But the academic world was not what it seemed, and he was backstabbed by his own project director, in order to keep the status quo. Ricardo took a blow to his personality, and decided to travel a little more, see more places to forget about the distasteful event.

It was then when he met his girlfriend, a fellow french scientist named Jeanne, and he seemed to be happen to mend his life little by little. Although Jeanne, one day, somehow, seemed to change, and became more paranoid and obsessed with a certain something. That she'd not tell to Ricardo. She even slammed the door on him and told him to get out of his life, effectively ending their relation. Ricardo was hardly the only one hurt and concerned about it. Jeanne's parents had confided that she was involved in strange meetings, that reeked of a sect.

So, not heeding his girlfriend's last words, he tried to enter the building. After a few embarassing attempts getting stuck at windows, he finally managed to do so.

He should've turned his back and stayed home. The place was crawling in literal demented demon worshippers, who chased the poor man's chubby ass throughout the entire mansion. In the wild goose chase, Ricardo stumbled upon a forbidden ritual, designed to actually bring a demon forth. And his ex-girlfriend was standing in the middle, in a species of trance.

His words never reached her, as she plunged a dagger into her own heart, dark energies crackling. The ritual was working. Ricardo was cornered, desperate. He had to run away. He was the only one who could tell the tale. But he couldn't, as his pursuers closed on him. He wanted to curl up in desperation, as the beast manifested, toying with her girlfriend's now limping corpse as if it was some kind of grotesque doll.

It didn't help that it also had a beatiful singsong voice, and was actually singing freaking nursery rhimes.

Ricardo snapped. And in that moment, he knew. As if yawning from a never ending dream, he got up. Something had changed. He made a dash for a ritual book. He skimmed through the pages. Flawlessly, like it had never happened before, the knowledge flew into his head. He knew. He understood how to do it.

Mana.

Magic.

It was real. And so was his magic aswell. The spell of banishment was half baked, and took it a couple of tries, in which he was stabbed and tossed across the room, but he eventually succeeded. The demon was defeated. And he survived. But... he had changed. He now knew. He now was learning so much more in so little time. His own world had been turned upside down.

And he ran once more, trying to soothe his heart. Towards the least likely place, Japan (thanks to his fast-learning of Japanese). He picked the city at random. And its name was Miura city.

¿Did I mention that he has not the best of luck?

  • Name: Honami Aoi
  • Age: 15
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Satori
  • Appearance: Aoi has pale green hair and matching eyes, with a light skintone. She usually wears white dresses. She's under five feet in height.
  • Personality: Aoi is a sweet, sensitive girl. She's well-attuned to the feelings of others do to her fundamental nature as a Satori. The ability to read people, even restricted as it must be due to her surroundings, allows her to more easily understand the feelings of others. She's highly energetic and eats a lot of food(to the point of some questioning where she puts it all given her small size and slim frame), and has a deep affinity for things she finds cute or endearing. Cute children, cats, dogs, birds, even some fish fall within her area of "cuteness". Aoi is also quite friendly and sociable, especially if someone is willing to feed her. Or if they are small and cute. Of course, being smaller then Aoi likely means you're an actual child, or an immortal one, as she's quite small herself. Aoi does not like her "ears" touched by surprise, as they are highly sensitive and doing so is likely to make her jump.
  • Abilities: As a Satori, Aoi is capable of reading the minds of others. Due to living in a highly populated area, Aoi's abilities are restricted so she may avoid being overwhelmed. In order to get clear thoughts from a single person, she must touch foreheads with them. In order to read many individuals at once, she must get up to a high location where it's "clearer" and she can cast a larger range. Her maximum range is quite wide, but processing so much information at once is difficult. As such, it's ideal to have some kind of specific information in mind when doing so. As she uses her ear-like "antenna" to read thoughts, anything interfering with them will inhibit their abilities. Satori are barely stronger or faster then a human, and Aoi has no real combat abilities to speak of.
Satori can also project images to others, but Aoi cannot do so at this time and relies on drawing what she sees if she must convey an image.
    She's a rather terrible artist.
As a youkai, she is more difficult to kill then a human, but at the same time her durability is lower then most other youkai.
  • Skills: Aoi has a rather vast knowledge of food, especially traditional Japanese sweets. An excellent way to tempt her is the use of mochi.
  • Equipment: Aoi has no particular equipment.
  • Brief Backstory: Aoi was born in the Imaginary District, the youngest daughter of a family of Satori. Unfortunately, when she was very young, nearly her entire family seemed to vanish, both parents and her older brother. The only remaining family members were Aoi herself and her older sister, Masami. As such, from a young age, Aoi was cared for by her older sister. She became increasingly curious about her family as she grew up, but as of now there's still no indication as to what truly happened. Since then, she has decided to work with the Miura Youth Organization and the police department in any way she can utilizing her abilities, in hopes to help people and to discover what happened to her family.

Not gonna lie, this looks like a fun RP but I don't know a whole lot about Youkai in particular.

Any room for a half-Angel fashionista who has abandoned its' flaming sword and Guardian responsibilities after some things went bad?

Edit: Aaaaaand just realized I posted this in the wrong area. I'll take "Signs you haven't RP'd in a While for $500, Alex!"

Name: Shun Baba

Age: 74 (looks 14-16)

Gender: Male

Race: Demon

Appearance:
Despite his intimidating glare, Shun barely stands to the shoulder of his younger brother (horns included). His face HAS matured slightly since he became a demon, though he is decidedly on the ‘younger looking’ side of demonhood.

Personality: Shun is quite, disciplined, calculated, and cool in all situations. He has a reputation of being the only Baba of the trio who can do anything with any degree of reliability, as well as being the smartest of the three by leaps and bounds. However, like his brother and mother, he can be overly frank, often dipping into outright rudeness is he’s not careful. He is also nowhere nearly as friendly as either of them, though he is trying to improve on this. He deeply cares for his family, though admits to not liking being around them much, claiming they are ‘insufferably cheerful, thick, loving and intolerably dim.’ All of which being traits he is admittedly still awkward at handling, even after 70 some odd years of life.

Abilities:
Affinity- fire: More specifically, Shun has a strong affinity for detonation magic in its various forms. For obvious reasons, he is hesitant to use spells from this field to their maximum potential and has since mastered a level of control that would impress even seasoned mages. While he can cast explosive spells at a singular point, he perfers to use his catalyst ‘gun’ to fire projectiles, using a combination of finely tuned explosive spells and spells for forming rubber and metal ammo. See equipment for more details.

Keen reactions, weak body: Shun is a finely tuned machine at drawing his weapon and firing. In his more prideful moments, he likes to compare himself to a Japanese Tom Horn. However, he’s long neglected his natural demon strength in favor of speed and it shows when comparing himself to other demons.

Skills:
Gunslinger: Shun is an expert sharpshooter and quick draw. There are few officers in the I.D.P.D that he’d consider better shots (begrudgingly, Yongzheng Huang is one such officer).
Baby face: It is easy to forget that some in the yokai community can be ageless. Shun, while never happy at his circumstances entirely, has learned to exploit it, and even emphasize it, when he desires to be overlooked as harmless.

Equipment:

Catalyst ‘gun’: A modified Smith and Wesson Model 500. While the gun can no longer serve as a ‘traditional’ firearm, for the modern spellslinger there are few better examples of craftsmentship. The hammer has been removed, replaced with smooth steel etched with a series of runes which act as a ‘firing’ mechanism. When the trigger is pulled while the thumb is pressed onto the firing rune, a small explosive spell is detonated in the cylinder, propelling the ammo forward.

The cylinder is also unique tri-chamber design that does not rotate once the gun has been fired, instead requiring the user to manually rotate if they wish to change chambers. This was an intentional design choice, as it allows Shun to manually adjust the lethality of the weapon to suit his needs. He has color coded them for convenience.
Blue chamber: Runes form a rough bullet shape made of rubber. Use for non-lethal takedowns and is Shuns first line of defense. While the bullets cannot kill most yokai (save for rare circumstances), they can be an exceptionally painful deterrent.
Red chamber: Lethal force. Runes form a rough bullet shape made of copper equivalent to .500 S&W Magnum cartridge. There is nothing special about these rounds, beyond their capacity to do serious damage.
Gold Chamber: Lethal force^2. Runes form a rough bullet shape made of copper equivalent to .500 S&W Magnum cartridge, and an additional detonation spell is applied to trigger on contact with a target. Detonation is small, but shaped to cut into the target. Used entirely as a last resort, as the mana required to fire just one round is equivalent to five rounds in the red or blue chamber.
Beyond these modifications, the gun acts in much the same way as its non-magical counterpart, with an effective range of 200 yards,

Brief Backstory:
Shun was born around the year 1942 to his mother Aiko, deep in the ending years of WW2 to an unknown father. Like many supernatural beings of the era, the war had displaced MANY of the long standing sanctuaries for their kind, and Shun spent his early years moving sporadically across country with his mother, looking for stable and safe living. His mother did her best to cheer him during these years, though there was only so much the elder demon woman could do besides teach him the basics of rune magic and hope for the best. While he has no confirmation of this, he believes that the pure anxiety of his childhood (despite his mothers best efforts) may have forced his demon abilities to activate at the young age of 14. A fact which he knows his mother, while in private moments, feels deeply guilty about.

He was 24 when the Imaginary District first opened its alleyways, and it was amongst the first taste of sedentary life he’d ever had. Not wanting any young yokai(or demon) to go through what he did, he volunteered quickly to join the (then) small police force, to help protect their relatively new home. While those near lawless days are a far off memory, Shun none the less continued to serve as a beat cop up until six years ago, when his brother (a person his mother had oh so playfully NEGLECTED TO MENTION FOR THE BETTER PART OF SEVENTEEN YEARS) came into his life. Annoyed that he’d never been told about his sheepy (in all the wrong ways) sibling, Shun quickly demanded to be raised to the rank of detective, intent on taking the accompanying raise and moving into his own apartment. As of now, he’s held his position for five years. Although he is still considered green by most of his coworkers, whose decades (if not centuries) of experience he struggles to compete with.

Likes: his family, taller women (which is most), police work, cherries.

Dislikes: taller men, joke about his height, threats, his family, pointless destruction, tomatoes.

  • Name: Ryuuko
  • Age: Depending on how you look at it, she's either inhumanly old, or she's been around for about an afternoon. It's hard to pin down an exact number for how long she's been alive, as space itself doesn't have much in the way of handy reference points.
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Dragon. One of reality's handy protectors, whose fundamental basis is incomprehensible to everyone from Earth. She doesn't hold it against them, it's not their fault that they're made of so boring matter rather than the true stuff of stars.
  • Appearance: Claws, talons, a pretty dress, and a nice ribbon.
  • Personality: Ryuuko is pleasant enough to be around but lacks social awareness due to... well, never having actually socialised before. Coupled with rather a large amount of inquisitiveness at being somewhere other than space (and it has people with similar anatomy, too!) and a lot of problems lie ahead without some sort of escort. The police have managed to impress one thing upon her, though: violence is the wrong thing to do. Even if you're a dragon capable of eradicating eldritch monstrosities.
She's also scared of dogs and astronauts.
  • Abilities: As a dragon, she has the standard dragon stuff: incredibly destructive breath damage, a certain disregard for the normal restrictions of gravity, enough physical might to actually stand a chance against anything that might want to wrestle the universe into explosion, and a level of resilience that would cost Miura a lot of buildings if a serious attempt to kill her was made. She also learns languages extremely quickly.
  • Skills: Nope.
  • Equipment: None.
  • Brief Backstory: Some time in the distant, forgotten past--or at least distant as experienced by a dragon floating in the void--Ryuuko came into being. She drifted around without a pretty clear destination--space is big, after all--and often tuned out of her surroundings or slept. Maybe in the floating she actually served her purpose and crushed something that threatened reality itself; Ryuuko has no real idea what was going on whilst she was amongst the stars.
Then she fell to Earth with a rather frightful bang. At least, it was for the imaginary district's police and, after dusting her off, pulling her out of the kennels, and getting some clothes, they decided to ask around for people willing to show a dragon the modern world. Unfortunately, the Miura Youth Organisation is a bit busy, today...

Name: (Su) Mei
Age: 856
Gender: Female
Race: Huli Jing - The chinese Kitsune. No differences with the Japanese one, save culturally.
Appearance:Her appearance. She has eight tails, but she usually disguises seven of them.
Personality: An elder fox spirit, Mei does have a great deal of self-control more than the average fox spirit, usually approaching her daily life with a mixture of wisdom and patience and the usual trickery and cheekyness foxes usually are thought to have. Unlike some other foxes with several tails, Mei rarely flaunts her actual power and experience, usually content with appearing to be someone much younger and keeping a rather approachable and casual aura. She absolutely loves prank wars, and, surprisingly enough, has something of a graceful loser behaviour. She also hates being compared to one of her famous ancestors, the legendary nine tailed Daji (which is probably the reason why a lot of the chinese foxes are hated), and has a fancy about foods that contain absurd amounts of offal (Truth to be told her favorite food is human liver, but hey, those are off limits.)
Abilities:
-Foxfire: Hey, all half-decent spirit foxes can do it. From the mouth, or the tips of the tail. Packs quite a punch, but it's in the end just fancy blue mana fire. Due to her number of tails she can spam a lot of it, however.
-Transformation: She can do tricks to alter her appearance and age, and hide her tails. Don't ask her to become a guy, tho.
-Illusion: Mei, like all foxes can do illusions. However, the more convincent and vivid the illusion, the more draining, and the less can move. Each aditional sense weights more. She can sometimes stack two short lived illusions.
-Taoist Rituals: Similar to Onmyodo, Mei is a skilled taoist ritual practitioner, which can be seen in divinations (that they often fail, or so she claims), and talismans, enchantments and exorcisms (which they do not). This was an attempt on her part to drift away from the foul practices of her clan, like human posession.
Evil arts:She technically can curse people and possess them, but A- Curses have bad habits like harming the caster, backfiring and pissing people off, and B- Possession means giving up her actual body for a mortal one.
Skills:
Chinese- DUH
Chinese medicine and herbalism- Well, she has to earn a coin or two. She also knows how to make good, hearty meals.
Kung Fu- While a wispy fox spirit isn't the most durable youkai, she knows kung fu. I mean, cause, seriously, there's tigers and stuff like that in China. She's pretty skilled and nimble, but like other foxes, can't take many hits.
Master of Deception: There's probably almost to no trick in the big book of deception that she doesn't know. Incidentally she's also good at reading people.
Living history Scholar: She's read and seen a ton of stuff.
Equipment:
Clothes.
Cellphone.
Wallet.
Swag.
Brief Backstory: Mei was born to the same clan of fox spirits as one of the most (in)famous mythological figures of chinese literature. Daji, the concubine of Zhou Wang, a chinese King who got the kicks and giggles by torturing vassals in horrible manners. In fact, Mei and her family are somehow descendants of that very nine tailed fox, and most of them follow their tenets and revel in the horrible practices that give the Huli Jinn their bad repution. Not Mei, though. Once she reached a certain age, she decided to pack her meager possessions and see the wide world. Probably because of wanderlust, or maybe because she was really tired of all the evil cackles and wannabe evil sorcerous empresses that her clan seemed to have.

She became a travelling spirit, with little to no bounds. Met friends. Lived adventures. Had kids. Had grandkids. Ocassionally she also helped twarth the plans of her clan. The world changed. And decided it was getting too tired to be constantly drifting. China's environment as well was degrading quickly to the point of becoming nearly inhabitable. So she skipped the sea to Japan, having heard rumours of a city being founded with an Imaginary District, a haven of sorts. After a brief time of exploration, Mei established herself as some kind of elder scholar, lending her services as informant and collaborator with the ID Police, and also offering small time chinese remedies and lecturing those who actually managed to find her.

Plus hey, the Imaginary District had all sorts of offal to taste. And she could always mooch the donuts from the police!

  • Name: Luca and Alain Eklund
  • Age: 17
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Human
  • Appearance:
  • Personality: The twins are supremely nice, an aspect imposed upon them from a young age. They are careful when interacting with others as they can't simply know what they other person is thinking as they do with one another. Luca and Alain seek justice and are more interested in doing right by the parties involved than by the letter of the law.
  • Abilities: The twins possess a mutation of their fathers Blood Sense and Teleportation abilities. Being twins and possessed of the same 'blood' the effects that are possible between their father and any of his own spilled blood are instead applied between them. Either twin can teleport to the other and their minds are linked so completely that each one is aware of the other at all times. They can communicate through thoughts and have access to the others senses.
This is a rare occurrence in the bloodline as the trait is only present in the firstborns, so for two siblings to share it they would also have to be identical twins.
  • Skills: Both of the twins are adept at martial arts although Luca is more-so. Alain has more of a knack for interacting with people.
  • Equipment: The twins carry several ampules of blood each in sufficient amounts to work with their abilities.
  • Brief Backstory: The Eklund twins are the daughters of Swedish police officer Gustaf Eklund. Gustaf himself had the ability to track people through their blood as well as the ability to transport himself instantly to portions of his own blood. He worked primarily in his own country along with some small trips to America for additional training.
When the twins began to show interest in a future in law enforcement Gustaf began to prepare them for their future. They were both given basic training in martial arts before moving to Japan, more specifically to the Imaginary District, as exchange students. They live above a western styled coffee shop where they both work part time. Luca and Alain also volunteer with the Miura Youth organization to help people and to practice the use of their abilities.
