You should at least give them something to go up against. Yes it's not pinned down to any type, but you should throw matchups at everyone. Put some more effort into GMing man. Just that little bit.

When you play a game, deciding yourself the full details of what happens next is... Not really fun. Especially when you have to play it out all by yourself. I'm literally trudging through this segment now so that I can make random encounters for other people's groups, with a chosen party, and since there is a loss state for these encounters, they're going to be done as a PvP.

Think about it this way, when you play a game, you don't know what may happen next, and that is in large part of the fun, and the reason repetitive design is considered bad, because it's not interesting and because if it's repetitive, we already know what's going to happen or what we're going to have to do.

@Sho Minazuki That'd be cool. Go ahead and send three at me. My team is fighting triple battle style no matter who they face.

This post was a bit rushed, as I was low on battery power. So... consquently, an already battered and exhausted Treecko gets smashed... and thus here comes round 2... which will be soon. Tomorrow hopefully.

Alright, I'm writing a post right now. Expect it soon. I'm really glad we aren't doing showdown for this battle though. Magnemite vs Sneasel? *laughs nervously*

I think even if Nexus' Pokemon aren't tied down to any type, they'll still use what is common, so we should see a repeat of ones like Poochyena and Zubat.

@Sho Minazuki Yeah, with grunts at least. Just like how team rocket had Zubats Ekans or Koffing.

That fight can actually go either way. I dislike showdown because everyone specs pokemon for perfect everything. When in reality, the game's randomness made everything fair. This meant that tiers were pretty much done away and it took a bit of luck and player's guessing to win. Without that, it was just numbers.

@Tangletail Perfects stats or no, Sneasel is kind of a wet paper towel defensively. Against a steel type attack, assuming it's close to the same level, it's almost guaranteed to lose.

I did a mock battle on Showdown to test how a battle like that might go. Stick eviolites on both of them and see if he falls, though I doubt it'll take one attack. Even if he does, this isn't the game. Sneasel is much faster than Magnemite so it wouldn't be unrealistic to have him dodge an attack or two while getting some attacks in :P

@Sketcher My thoughts exactly. I love using showdown for some Pokemon Rps, but it does raise an issue when you hit a solid wall just because of typing.

I think for RP it should go based off of how they do it in the anime. It's not as fun and pretty restrictive if we go with just whatever mechanics the game gives us. There are more ways than one to use a Pokemon's attacks after all.

@Sho Minazuki I think that it's situational. Sometimes it's nice to throw a challenge into it, and showdown isn't an awful way to do that. When people only have 1 or 2 pokemon however, skill just isn't enough.

I actually plan on doing it similar to how it's done in the Manga's. Where as long as the trainers do not directly interfere, pretty much anything goes.

On Round 2, (now that I'm fully caught up story wise), I'm going to have Maple trip the Machop up by yanking a floor mat out from under him, and start smashing on his limbs one by one. Machop anime wise has muscles that don't tire and pretty much a formidable endurance and fighting technique. So... you sweep the leg, keep him from using most of his fighting styles. Mess up another leg and an arm, and suddenly he can't fight back.

It's underhanded... but come on. The treecko was hurt pretty good long before the fight.

Tail Whip is also an offensive move in the anime, so you can use that to trip Machop too.
