I formally request we extend the time we have pre-time-skip to include one more day. For those of us who are planning on joining late at night, we won't be able to make any connections whatsoever, and that's assuming we have relatively social characters. Not to mention the issue of assuming that one day would be enough to establish the characters relations with each other solidly enough to jump forward a huge amount of time without someone being murdered (coughcoughAlairacoughcough). One more day would very well establish the personalities of everyone's characters and the issues that lay therein, and no one would be left feeling that they didn't have enough time to establish their characters with everyone else before they were separated off into different class schedules and such.
No, this isn't me just trying to advocate for myself. I genuinely feel this would benefit everyone in the RP, especially those of us who have particularly drunken (coughcoughAlaira...again. coughcough) characters that might not be acting in their usual fashion due to mind-altering substances, or who have characters whose personalities wouldn't be properly portrayed in this one day that they have to introduce themselves to each other (Mar, Uicle, Ssarak even, I'm lookin' at you).
Plus, you have this big event that's supposed to be occurring tonight (IC time). The jump being directly after this makes it difficult for particularly affected or paranoid characters to express their feelings towards it, and to plan for it ahead. Placing the 6 month time jump after this big moment would make it seem like everyone was really hung-up on this one major plot device (which, knowing y'all, will not be the last), and that, even though it's been 6 entire months, this issue is still on everyone's mind. And, again, what about the people that might freak the hell out and, as my friends from the old DR RP would say, fall into deep DESPAIR, leading them to do anything from leave to commit murder to commit suicide.
That's too big of a thing to be overlooked. I know this will delay the next major plot development by some time, but how are characters supposed to react to that big thing together if they're still trying to work the basics of each other out when they have to deal with it? In the time it'd take for everyone to get properly figured out, the climax would have already have happened and (again, knowing y'all) rocks would have fallen and everyone would have died, so to speak.
I understand if this can't be done, but please try to understand why I suggest it. Please also refrain from dismissing it as soon as you read it because it would be too much work to work in. If my experience writing has taught me anything, it's that the more work you put into perfecting something, the more likely it is to go off without a hitch, and I'd really appreciate seeing this project we've been working on do just that. As it stands, there are too many hitches for me to ignore, which is why I'm writing this proposal.
I love you all, and I look forward to working with you more in the future.
Sincerely,
Jarod, a.k.a. Crossark.
