Supreme Senpai Senpai will never notice you!

Hey guys! I've just started up here, so I suppose this IC will serve as my introduction to the site as well. Though, I'm sure you guys would like to read more about the idea, so I'll keep it short and sweet. I've been RPing for about 10years now, I have plenty of ideas that I'd love to share with you and hope you guys enjoy, and I look forward to Rping here with you guys! Now.....

-The Idea-
The idea behind this RP is very simple. Esports are still growing in today's world. Basically I want to fast forward to a timeline where VR games are possible through something similar to nervegear from SAO and where gaming (Esports) has evolved to the popularity of sports like basketball and football. The story will take place in one of the top schools for gaming, in Japan, where some of the worlds elite gamers have graduated from. It will follow our characters as they not only strive to climb the ranks within their school, but also struggle to conquer everyday real-life problems, such as bullying, romance, etc.

What can you expect?
-School Ranking System
-Gaming on various platforms (MOBA, Mmorpg, FPS, Racing, etc)
-Guilds/Factions (Should your character choose to join or create one)
-Tournaments (Both within the school and against other schools)
-AND MUCH MORE!

Should all go well, I plan for the story to continue to another arch. Which I'm thinking will be set like SAO, where our characters will be trapped in a video game, trying to find a way out. Let me know what you guys think and feel free to ask questions! :)

UPDATE:
Just found out how closely related this idea to Video Game High School. I definitely encourage anybody who doesn't understand the idea to watch at least the first couple of episodes or just read about it, if you don't know about it.

Special thanks to @JackalopeLove for bringing this to my attention

How would this work exactly? Like how do we show off multiple games going on? I assume the characters will not participate in a game besides what they enjoy. Like an mmorpg fan would play the mmorpg and not some shooting game. Forgive my ignorance on how this would work.

Good question and you're absolutely right! Everybody won't be an absolute beast on every platform. Each player will have their "MAIN" preferences. To show case each player at their absolute best, I believe it's best to think of it like sports. We will have "seasons" and "off-seasons". There will be specific times that certain platforms will be played, during which all others will be on their off season. This will allow characters who are participating in the current seasons platform to show case their skills and have their friends cheer them on, but will also allow for the off season platform players to train and recruit for teams. It would technically also be possible for players to participate in multiple platforms, should they be that good xD Also, it's possible for players to play in different platforms, even if just for fun. Maybe you have a friend that loves FPS and you'd like to show them your world in a mmorpg :) hope this helped

Well thanks for the interest anyway! :) I'm sure it sounds a little confusing right now, though essentially it's just school, but rather than wrestling or basketball teams, they have FPS or MMORPG.

If others find the concept too confusing or feel like it wouldn't work with multiple platforms, I'm more than happy to focus on just one and I will hear you guys' input on which platform we should play

VIDEO GAME HIGHSCHOOL!

Ok geez, I stumbled on this post and it was like hardcore Dejavu then when I came back to look again it slapped me in the face. I have no idea if you are trying to recreate that show but it sounds a lot like Video Game Highschool.

So yeah, I am totally in and I completely understand what you are going for.

Honestly, i was mostly inspired by watching the Esports series with CS:Go, a little while back, and League of Legends tournaments. Though, if there is already something similar out there, I'll be sure to check it out. Maybe it'll be easier for people to understand with a good reference

This is the first episode on youtube. It's got three seasons I think, I saw it on Netflix last year it's a cool show and I like the idea of playing with it! But yeah this is a perfect reference for what you seem to be going for!

Three seasons? I know what I'll be doing with my day off tomorrow haha. Thanks for the link :) I'll definitely check it out and likely add their wiki page or something to the main post, so others can have a better understanding. This will surely help

@JackalopeLove
Thanks again for bringing Video Game High School to my attention. After watching the first two episodes, this is definitely the best reference to have.

Side-note I'm totally loving the principals character. The things he had said so far are hilarious.

"...you do not study art, you study the art of war. You study biology by bathing in the blood of your enemies..."

"What the frag are you doing?"

Haha I died

@Leoven@JELDare@great_hellup

Thank you guys for your welcomes, first of all. I tagged you over here, just so you're aware of this threads existence as well. Thanks for your interests! :)

So far, if everybody stays, we've got six. I think that's a pretty healthy number to start considering working on an OOC already. I'm definitely stoked, but since the thread is still relatively new I won't jump the gun just yet. I'll wait till probably about sometime tomorrow after noon to see if it generates more interest. Then I'll get an OOC dropped for you guys

If I'm understanding the question correctly:

-Players will be able to play in whatever platform they'd like, for fun, but there will be rankings in each platform for the serious players. For example; A person who mains FPS will have to keep up with there rank on said FPS, but can play a MMORPG for fun, with friends and whatnot. These players won't suffer penalties because it's not a platform they play often or are even ranked in. It wouldn't be fair to punish somebody who isn't playing in their respective field, for losing, right? Though I am thinking of a way for people to register in more than one platform to obtain rank in multiple games (Which would obviously be riskier, having more people able to challenge you)

-Secondly, I'm thinking of having "Seasons" and "off-seasons". During each season, specific platforms will be compete in team or individual tournament, try to make it to championships, move up in rank, or flat out get kicked out of school should they fail to have a higher than a specific (undetermined as of yet) ranking. Needless to say, the heat is on and nobody maining said platform in season is safe. "Off-season" players will basically just be training for their upcoming season, recruiting, so on and so forth. Like sports

Hope I was able to answer your question

Edit: As I mentioned earlier in this thread, if people feel more comfortable with playing just one platform, then I'm down to hear you out and we'll decide on one:)

>.< Got sucked into work on my day off. I should be able to get this ball rolling a little bit more tomorrow, but first I'd like to know how you guys feel about having multiple gaming platforms.

Do you want to roll with it or do you think it will get a little too confusing and we should focus on just one game? If you'd like to focus on just one, what would it be?

I think it might get confusion but that depends on how well you can manage it. If it will be just one my preference goes out to mmorpgs but thats more because i think its a bit easier to write about and around.

@great_hellup Yeah; thinking about it, it'd take a considerable amount of work for multiple platforms and even then confusion is still a possibility haha. If we change it to one platform, I have my chips on FPS or MMORPG. Since, I believe, they are among the top competitive platforms along side MoBA's

I would put my interest with FPS because it seems to be much more competitive than an MMORPG but I could understand how that could work I just wouldn't want to roleplay to be sucked into a fantasy world instead of the school. I am totally fine with either though I just prefer FPS for this idea. (I might be biased because of VGHS)
