Just to clarify something so I don't mess it up in the post - what time of day are we? The meeting started in the late afternoon, so am I right to assume we're around sunset or thereabouts?

@JbcoolI don't remember this question being asked, so I'll ask: How are we gonna handle combat? Narrative based or dice? If you've already answered it can you link me the post, please?

I haven't, but what would you prefer?

Narrative is always easier, but I could do a mix of the two - you write about going for a strike, I roll to see if it's successful etc; it's just what 'the people' want, really.

Well, that took longer than I expected, but I finally posted. Apologies if it's a bit long, just didn't have it in me to chop it up into two posts.

I'm fine with both. Personally, I enjoy dice rolls because they offer an element of luck, which can sometimes foil even the most well-detailed plan. It's an interesting challenge from a writing perspective and makes it more realistic. And I say that as the guy who usually gets all the 1's

The counterpoint would be that luck can fuck you over completely. Like, my character, who isn't much of a fighter, can get lucky and have some high rolls and be successful in combat. However, Baranor for example, a seasoned warrior, may have a streak of bad luck and end up failing in situations you wouldn't expect considering his skills. I guess you can offset that by adding some modifiers, but then the whole thing risks becoming too "game-y" /shrug

Anyway, I'm easy, up to you guys.

I feel so bad for putting this off. Expect a post tomorrow. Hopefully the story has not progressed too far.

Don't feel pressured, not much has happened - we've yet to gather by the gate

It also brings me to a question, @DrunkasaurusRex you say Baranor is heading to meet Gweluon, but the way I read @Jbcool's post I thought we were going to do it on the following morning? That or my reading comprehension sucks, if so apologies.

@Vor@JbcoolI am with Vor on the combat subject. If we go for the dice perhaps it'd be better to avoid modifiers somehow. But both options are fine.

@Sigurd@POOHEAD189@Vor@BCTheEntity@DrunkasaurusRex

Okay, to clarify, I did mean the following morning - as in everyone should get some rest, before we mosey on out.

It would appear that most of our characters are heading toward the tavern anyway, so if anyone wants to get some character development in before we set off for the East, now would be as good a time as any.

Sapeth will, of course, be escorted everywhere by a cadre of armed guards at all times....unless he decides to apologise to the King, maybe.

As for the dice-rolls, I could probably set up a rudimentary system that would add in some flavour if/when it comes to combat. Probably will avoid modifiers, just for ease of use and simplicities sake.

@Jbcool Faaack I still need to post. Distractions of varying sorts have delayed me, and I'm very sorry about that. Expect a post within the day. And, well, I was under the impression Saptheth would be escorted everywhere by armed guards anyway, because they sure as hell weren't that courteous to him before he insulted the king. As for dice vs plain RP, you said yourself that dice rolls might skew things in a way that isn't strictly accurate to a character's skill in battle, and I'd rather avoid them if possible.

@BCTheEntity Your opinion is noted on the matter of dice. :)

Let me just tell you how much I dislike Sapeth, and that is quite a lot, which is a testament to your skill as a writer to make him ooze so much arrogance that I actually don't even like reading about his up-his-arse attitude.

Of course I'll read it though, it's written by you and I need to know everything in my RP, so well done.

@Jbcool To be honest, I quite like him, mostly because I enjoy writing him. He's certainly a gigantic dick, if one who thinks his actions are all justifiable in some way or another, and I'm glad I've managed to make him evocative enough to make people actually dislike him. Maybe I should get into writing books, if I can only get my brain off its arse long enough to get myself moving.
