The dragon had feared the worst when the gargoyle’s weight shifted toward him. He fell back upon the floor and closed his eyes, turning his head and tensing as though he was waiting for the worst. When the gargoyle’s clawed hands slammed to the right and left side of his head, the dragon jumped a little in startle before he opened one eye to see the gargoyle grinning triumphantly down at him.

You struggled!

The laughter that followed made No’s pupils thin in rage. He had every urge to breathe a fiery enraged scream into the gargoyle’s face when Jezebel barged into the lounge from the kitchen.

“What’s goin’ on ‘ere?” she questioned, and then her blonde brows rose and blue eyes widened at the two men she saw on the floor. One was, to her perception, apparently pinning the other in some sort of erotic display of forbidden love. The wench brought a hand up to her lips, her cheeks flushing pink before she giggled. “Oi, big boy, I didn’t know ye walked t’at path. Wit’ ta’ night ye gave Boo-Boo I woulda’ neva’ guessed. I tin’ I needs t’assess me gaydar. Ah’m usually good at pickin’ ‘em out.”

“What?” No exploded before he quickly rolled out from under Kerylun. He sprang to his feet and yelled, “It was a test of strength!”

Jezebel turned her cheek to hide her amused smile. “Ah’m sure.”

No growled, “You hag…”

“Dun ye ‘ag me. Ye finish t’is floor? Ye nae questin’ t’ill it done.”

No bowed his head, baring his teeth at the floor as he imagined burning the woman and the tavern down. He then turned his back to her to hide his humiliation.

“I finished it…” he muttered.

“Eh?”

“I said I finished your stupid floor!”

Jezebel glanced around the room through narrowed lids. She saw several dust piles scattered about, but she didn’t mind cleaning those up.

“Aw’right” she agreed. “Ye kin quest, but ye’ll be helpin’ me clean dishes tonight. ‘Cuz ye put Boo-Boo out, ah’m gonna need some extra ‘ands.”

“Ksh!” No scoffed.

“What was t’at?”

“Nothing. Whatever.”

“Kay, dun go dyin’. Ah need ye ‘ands.”

Was that the only reason why? No then grumbled, “I’m out of here. Let’s start this damn quest already.”

The warrior marched out of the tavern into the street to await the rest of the party.

Stolen Daughter

Her name is Analia. She is my only daughter. I sent her to buy some exotic herbs from the markets and she never returned. I tried to ask around, but the townsfolk ignore me. I feel that they have been paid to keep their lips sealed. Not even the Bridgewater guards try to help me. All they ask for is coin or a date with my daughter. How corrupt! Please, someone, if you read this scroll, please bring Analia back to me!

Start: In the markets, she was last seen trying to purchase Rump Root from an imp.

Luanne sat comfortably on the cushioned chair she had 'acquired' from another patron earlier, swaying her ample bosom in his face as she giggled at his every word. After complaining that her back was a bit sore, making sure to rub her lower spine while still offering a great view of her swinging breasts, the gentleman had stood up and offered his seat willingly.
A quick thank you and a wave of her hand had the fellow off looking for another seat as Luanne stretched her mighty frame out. Wearing little more than a bra and some tight pants, it was easy to tell she had done this bit before. Standing over a foot taller than most had its advantages too.

"When the hell are we gonna get some action going?" She mumbled to herself as she scratched her stomach idly.

Oh well. Luanne was patient when it came to waiting for a chance at making some coin, and she wasn't picky about how it happened. Go out and kill some monsters? She'd go. Explore a cave for a missing girl? Of course. Get frisky for a few gold? Still in the realm of possibility.
If you're gonna dress to get attention you might as well have some fun while you're at at, right?

Out of the corner of her eye, Luanne caught the dragonkin ready himself and head out the door. A glance through the window would reveal that he was indeed waiting.
Which meant it was time to go to work!
Luanne sprung out of her chair at full speed, colliding bodily with another patron to send the fellow hard to the floor after getting a face full of her chest. Emerging from a rented room a short time later with her armor and weapons on she grinned the entire way across the tavern and out the door.

SLAM!

Katherine stopped on her tracks. She had been just about to enter the tavern where she was supposed to meet her party when she heard a loud crash coming from inside. Her fox ears twitched as she honed in on the sound. Oh boy, that can't be good... She thought as she reached for her spear mounted on her back. It's too early in the morning for this kind of commotion in a tavern, specially the tavern where I'm supposed to be meeting up with the other... err.. Her train of thought derailed as she questioned for the first time the kind of people she was supposed to meet. ... Mercenaries..? ...Anyway, this can't be good, unless...

You struggled!

Laughter broke out from inside the tavern. She sighed as she came to the realization the commotion might just be her party. What's going on in there? She wondered.

What’s goin’ on ‘ere?

Katherine shrugged off the convenient question. She placed her spear against the wall next to her, just in case. She then leaned her back against the wall near the entrance to the tavern, and listened in on the conversation. She covered her mouth to hide her amusement as she listened.

I’m out of here. Let’s start this damn quest already.

And there it is. He mentioned a quest. That's all the proof I need. She crossed her arms and waited there, leaning against the wall, as the man's marching steps grew louder.

Finally, her ally came into view. A pleased smile beamed across her face as she looked at what she considered a behemoth of a man that would serve as her perfect meat shield for their quests to come. "Morning, big guy."

Bridge Rat Infestation

Enemies

From left to right: Willards (mini-bosses); Plague Rats (minions); Rat King (Boss)

Objectives

  • Work as a unit to kill all the Willards to reveal the location of the Rat King.
  • Discover where the Rat King is hiding.
  • Save as many innocents as you can.
  • Destroy the Rat King and save Bridegwater.

Rules

The rules are simple. Everyone is free to destroy as many rat minions as you want. I did not set a specific number to rat minions because regardless if I did with how many people are in this game, people will wind up killing 100+ if not 1,000+ rats any way.

1. Mini Boss & Boss. The GM will reveal when a Willard has appeared and control the Willard. You may notice the behavior of the rats change when the Willard is present.
2. The Rat King. The Rat King won't appear until all of his officers are destroyed, ie. the Willards. It is unknown how many Willards there are. Basically, as many as the GM sees fit to create the right amount of drama. Currently, the Rat King's presence is unknown.
3. Civilians. The GM may manifest an innocent. You do not create innocents to save. The GM will. If a team ignores saving a civilian or fails to save the civilian from the rats, then it may bring about a consequence that may not affect the current mission, but the story and how the NPCs perceive the heroes.
4. Read these rules. Some of you may need to read this slowly, thoroughly and more than once. These rules are here for you to refer back to. If you follow these rules, then there won't be any problems and you will enjoy a fun scenario. Be advised that more rules may be added.

The Fat King

Other Aids

Objectives

  • Protect the Queen and Princess.
  • Discover who the Bridge Lord impostors are.
  • Apprehend or kill if necessary the Bridge Lord impostors.

Rules

1. Servants. This scenario is mostly challenging because the players do not know who is the impostor and who isn't. Unfortunately, there isn't that much action in this scenario. This scenario challenges the psychology and the characters' abilities to discern friend from foe. Players can utilize NPC servants if necessary for their posts, but there will be servants who play a key role in the scenario controlled by the GM.
2. Decisions. The decisions your characters make in this scenario can dramatically effect the game. The correct decisions are not going to be revealed or given to you, so you'll have to do your best. Whatever happens happens.
3. Explore. Feel free to explore the castle. Characters may uncover clues.
4. Bridge Lords. The Bridge Lords are aware that the king hired some mercenaries to protect his castle and family. They know who you are, but you don't know who they are. Be careful traversing the castle alone, they may take advantage of an opportunity to catch your character off guard and end his/her life.
5. Read the rules. Some of you may need to read this slowly, thoroughly and more than once. These rules are here for you to refer back to. If you follow these rules, then there won't be any problems and you will enjoy a fun scenario. Be advised that more rules may be added.

Shama looked around with castle with a big smile on her orcish face. She was in the right place , a knight's true home. In a castle near his monarch. This particular king was not her monarch but sometimes you don't get everything you want , do you ?
" Ok. Kerylun and Gwendolyn , yes ? Do you have any plan on how should we do this ? I don't think we can torture someone here for information on the vile criminals. My opinion is for me to protect the Queen and princess , after all I'm the knight and you two go ask around. I am not ordering anyone to do anything , it's just a suggestion. Gwendolyn , you don't have a mind reading spell or something to compel people to tell you the truth in your repertoire , do you ? It would be great for this mission. I don't think you can learn one now , but if you can...Please do so " Shama said with a grin on her face.

Kerylun could see that his little comment and his accompanying laughter had provoked No. Well, that had been intented. Something told the gargoyle however that No was on the brink of exploding, and given that he had been able to lift his 1000 pounds, who knew what came next ? So the creature was glad that the tavern's owner managed to get the hidden dragon back to normal... Or at least busy enough not to bother him any further for the moment.

The gargoyle stepped out, not caring about the claws on his feet descending back to the ground once there was stone instead of wood underneath them.

The man didn't seem to notice Chino talking to him at first but eventually turned around as she went on about wanting a coffee. The man was pretty shy it seemed since he didn't particularly reply back at her since he only send a shot of the eyes at Chino but instead was working on his emotions towards her. He snapped his head back forwards almost immediately, likely trying to hide his emotions on being so shy towards the girl. Chino found this pretty cute. A big man not knowing on how to reply back to others just like a shy maiden.

Just like she thought he didn't master facial expressions either. He must have had a rough time working here. She could sense him just started working here and after numerous times was forced to clean the floor instead of actually serving the customers, poor guy. He asked her why she thought he worked there. She simply glanced at his apron for a few minutes in silence before losing him. He dashed off towards the table ripping of the apron. Chino gasped for a moment catching the apron mid air.

She herself shot up and wanted to get over towards the man again to give him back his apron that he dropped but she then could see that he wasn't there anymore. He perhaps had sprinted off towards the back of the shop or outside. He must have fled not wanting to be any more embarrassed talking to Chino, poor guy.

Chino gave a somewhat weirded out look but sat back down on the chair again. She had her face towards the bar again and eventually could see someone noticing her. She was treated like a small child by the bartender woman but she didn't even flinch at it showing that she had already gotten used to it a long time ago. Eventually Chino got her coffee and blankly stared at it. She looked back up at the bar tender who gave her a somewhat confused look but eventually figured out the stare Chino gave her. She got a pot of sugar right next to her which made Chino stand out a prompting smile to the bar lady now.

A table behind her made her ears twitch for a moment. She definitly heard job. They had found a job here which could get them money by killing?! Was this such kind of tavern. Chino turned around with the coffee at the side of her still on the bar. She spotted Keith talking about all this and saw he wasn't all to far away from her. This situation made her able to casually keep sitting at her comfy seat and work on her coffee while talking. She slid a 'few' spoons of sugar in her coffee while talking.

"Where are you going? Where did you get a job from?"

Gwendolyn smiled at the orc, "Sorry, but no. I'm no mind reader, at least as of right now. This will have to be done the hard way then. Your suggestion is good to watch while we investigate, but first," The elf looked around to perceive if anyone was listening.

Then she whispered on," Maybe we should all check on the queen and princess's current accommodations first. If they're separate at all during this time, one guard won't work. If the king gives us full carte blanche to guard them, then we might want to smuggle the queen and princess out of the castle entirely and keep them in a secure place with you watching them, the official explanation being they went to a cousin or something and us three being the only ones who know where the two actually are, and the two royals once they get there and maybe the king if he insists. Then Kerylun and I can sneak back in and scout around the castle together. I can pretend to be a new maid and you, no offense, could blend in among the gargoyle statues, give a bird's eye view of the what's going on and maybe overhear if anyone whispers in the rafters, a secret passage goes through the top, or something. If the king doesn't agree with the idea, then we might have to improvise and make sure the princess and queen both are guarded 24/7 while also taking any chance to seek the imposters though you, Shama, would still be the only obvious guard while we disguise ourselves as we would if the first plan had been implemented."

Gwen then paused, ""Any questions or suggestions? Is the whole idea bad?"

Keith took a moment to unfold the map that had come with the job scroll, rolling it out on the table in order to get an idea of just where the trouble areas were and give himself a chance to plan out their plan of attack. There was a lot of red on the map. So engrossed in the act of planning was Keith that he largely ignored the actions of those around him; If they weren't on his team then they didn't matter to him and if they were on his team they should have been getting prepared for the task at hand. Sure they were disposable meat shields as far as he was concerned but even meat shields could be useful if used correctly.

Keith's gaze lingered over the shipyards and the slums that surrounded it for a moment, entertaining the idea of simply setting the slums ablaze in order to deal with the infestation that no doubt plagued it; Slums were not known for their ability to withstand fire and if anyone living there could provide the city with any service of actual value they wouldn't be living in a bloody slum to begin with so no one who actually mattered would really care.

However, the proximity to the shipyard made the plan too risky; While human lives were a largely free replenishable resource, a shipyard cost time and money to rebuild and he doubted that the powers that be would be happy to do so. Tapping his hands on the table as he looked over the map, Keith saw several possibilities... but all of them started with the same opening move. With his plan of action decided, he looked up... and noticed that there seemed to be a couple of new faces who were now in his party while a couple of old ones had already slunk away. No matter.

Looking at the new girl who asked him where he got the job from, Keith simply answered "Mission board. Welcome to the party. " before giving a sharp whistle to get the attention of everyone else who was meant to be listening to him. "Alright people, we've got a plan of attack. We're dealing with some kind of 'monster vermin' infestation that's plaguing several areas of the city. Since we don't have a full idea of what we are up against, we're going to be going to the nearest infected area as a full group and learn the best way to murder the fuck out of whatever we're dealing with. By happenstance the closest infected area to us is the market/dock area. Anyone not ready to go now, please speak up or die horribly later."

Alexander walked full confidence with the note in his pocket. A common abduction case, that’s all it was to him. Though the father sounded desperate enough. It would be some easy profit for him. Though Alex wasn’t entirely sure why the old man required exotic herbs. Was he an alchemist too? If so, the sorcerer would definitely ask for a recipe if the old man had time to spare. Of course, only after he returned the apparently beautiful daughter. Would it be unprofessional to date her if he rescued her? Maybe unethical? To the hells with it! He’d just do it! One should beat the iron when it’s still hot.

He eventually reached the imp. Such devious people. Near demons. Just not big enough. He often wondered why they were allowed inside the city walls. Then again, they had a way of acquiring the occasional strange things. Dubious as they wore, the still had a role he guessed. Though when the old man suspected that the guards and the town folks could be bribed, Alex knew that asking immediately for the girl wouldn’t get him far. Instead, he decided to follow the trail. He reached the imp’s stall and asked: “I heard you’re the one I should approach in case I’d want some Rump Root?”

"I have everything I need right here" he said patting his sword, which he honestly rarely used but was good with nonetheless. She thought to herself. She's dealt with a lot of beasts and people, but that's something new to her.

The huge creature seemed to be somewhat amused about the idea though. It was very... creative. Out of the box thinking, though delivered in a very blunt way. However honesty was something he could value.

"I could carry you onto the roof. With my wings you two could perhaps reach areas that remain hidden for most people's eyes. Also I find the idea of getting the two royals out of harms way altogether quite efficient. Shall we begin immediately with introducing ourselves to them ?"

The girl was silent after Keith has spoken his words. She blankly stared at him while giving a sip of her coffee without losing her gaze onto him. It didn't appear this man had much interest in what her profession was or how good she was in it. He just simply wanted to take her along. This guy seriously has trust issues. The different kind that is. He accepts others waaaayyy to quick. She quietly mumbled to herself sitting in her chair a little puzzled.

"Oh..."

"You must be in serious distress to ask such an amazing girl for her help, but it was to be expected that you would ask only the best for such a difficult mission you have at hand. Luckily even I will make my schedule clear to help the weaker ones! I would happily assist you in your task!"

She grinned a little as she began to speak and slowly stood prouder and prouder of her own words. It wasn't any other way was it. Chino took another sip of her coffee before folding her legs over each other with her body half on the chair faced forwards at the table the plan was being explained. She quietly listened along and looked around if there were any other people joining the party of Keith.

"Oh my name is Chino by the way. It might be easier to get each others attention like that."

Snoh had been sitting idle this whole time in that stereotypically dark corner of every inn, watching and waiting like a patron of dinner and a show. His breakfast had been last nights leftovers, the black burnings from the bottom of the cookpot didn't bother his palette as it was smeared over two day old bread. He finished his mug of old flat 'all sorts' (a barrel filled with half a glass of whatever is left behind by anyone else.) and came to the table once he saw the others start fading from sight as he was queued to this group.

"A good plan, perhaps we should do a quick round robin and pop off our names and our specialties. It will make it easier for us to 'murder the fuck out of whatever we are dealing with' if we aren't tripping over each other or the like. I'm Snow, I'm a hexblade, I prefer to attach myself to a ranged character or caster and be the meat shield so they can do their job. I also have my Hex to lower enemy stats if you want to pair me with someone for flanking bonus on the big bruisers. A minus to them is just as useful as a plus to us."

While talking, he equipped his armaments, rather than just dropping his pants like a barbarian. Knee high boots got bronze shinguards attached to them as his vest was replaced with a large gapped chainmal shirt and bronze bracers rested on his wrist. Just as he finished speaking, his face was covered with a mask as he took up his tower shield and longsword from its katana-space. All in all he was looking a bit like a 300 spartan but with pants and most of a shirt on.

"We would of course have to ask the king's permission if we were to take the queen and princess completely out of the castle." Gwendolyn replied. "The two main problems that we'd need to deal with if we aren't given that permission is that there are duties for the royals to perform separately at the castle and one guard cannot be in two places at once, and that the imposters know the turf better than us and probably know the forgotten secret passages which probably would have at least one lead to whatever room we kept the three of you in most the time. Then, they could complete their objective while the other members distracted you with a frontal attack. Taking the two royals out of the castle would take away the imposters' turf advantage and could help lure out some of the gang by forcing them to search for the queen and princess. If we could be absolutely sure that the queen and princess would stay together during this time and that whatever room we used for the three of you did not have any hidden passages to it, then there would be no need to remove them from here. She sighed, "But there's no way to absolutely guarantee that.

"First things first, meet up with the royals and make sure none of them have already been kidnapped while we've been planning here. The royals know there's three of us, so we might as well first assure them that we all three came. Then ask the king if we could either take the queen and princess within a bird's flight away from the castle so that Kerylun can fly us to you if we need to warn you or converse with you, thanks for the offer by the way, Kerylun, and to say that the queen and princess are visiting the queen's family at this time or to place the queen and princess within a room where he can be absolutely certain that there is no secret passage or something of that sort.
