Name: Normad Ventes
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Height:170cm
Weight:58kg
Personality: At first glance, Normad is seen to be a rather happy and care-free individual, always smiling and in a positive mood, no matter the situation he finds himself in. Even in dangerous situations, Normad will make light of the situation or act as though it is far less serious than it appears as a result of prolonged usage of his quirk. Though he may act carelessly, Normad is always analyzing the undercurrent of a situation and is more than willing to act suddenly and brutally. Though this surface level personality is ‘true’, it’s mostly used to cover up his more shattered psyche that lies beneath. When he suffers injuries (especially ones due to his quirk), Normad can very quickly lose his calm and care-free persona, revealing that of an infuriated, unnerved and almost insane murder.
Additionally, due to his Quirk’s ability to ‘shrug’ off constraints of reality, Normad is often quite willing to ignore rules and orders if he finds them inconvenient. At this heart, Normad simply wishes to have the freedom to do what he wishes, seeing rules that are in place as nothing more than a challenge to be broken or circumvented. Those that help him reach this goal he is more than willing to treat as friends as long as they do not then get in the way of his freedom.
Background: Born to a middle-class family as the middle son, little was expected of Normad. To the oldest son were all the responsibilities and hopes placed while to the youngest was all the pampering directed. As a result, Normad was often free to do as he wished and often spent his time drifting both without direction and without restriction, often getting himself into trouble as he attempted to see just how much he could push against the rules that defined his life.
While in primary school Normad became aware of his Quirk, and he could not help but experiment with it to push the boundaries in his life further, as if he could bend the rules of reality surely he could find a way to bend the rules of society to suit him. It was during one of these experiments that one of his ‘instances’ from his ability experienced a fatal injury, when the instance managed to slip off the roof it had been exploring and fell multiple stories. While Normad was able to return to an alternate instance, the memory of that pain and the feelings associated with it still burned in his mind. Both encouraged by the way he could avoid such fatal situations and morbidly curious from the experience, his experiments to understand the capabilities of his ability took a darker turn.
These morbid experiences effectively warped Normad’s mind, and his desires for freedom only grew stronger. He began to clash with law and enforcement in increasingly aggressive ways, willing to take risks as he now had a way to avoid some of the consequences and in return the heroes and laws would take increasingly aggressive actions. Unable to continue the pretense of living within the confines of the law, Normad struck out with a life of villainy, the prospect of the freedom it offered all too tempting for him to decline
Motive:Normad see the regular constraints of society to be quite burdensome to someone of his nature, and unfortunately attempts to ignore those bindings has the habit of drawing attention from heroes and other would-be do-gooders. These do-gooders like nothing more than to attempt to place him back in their structured society or lock him away in jail.
While this desire for freedom alone would not normally lead one to full-on villainy, after all the experiences of pain and near-death Normad has endured from his quirk he has little regard for life in general. All that matters is his freedom to do as he wishes.
Quirk: Reality Ripple - Emitter
Normad has the ability to temporarily distort the fabric of reality around him, allowing him to ‘exist’ in multiple parts of the reality at the same time. Once Normad actives the ‘ripple’, he can create additional instances of himself that are able to move independent of each other. Each of these instances are able to occupy the same space and cannot collide or interact with each other. After a short period of time the ‘ripple’ will begin to fade and Normad will bound to the rules of reality once more, at which point Normad is forced to pick one of the active instances to become his reality. All other ‘instances’ will cease to exist and the picked instance will be the real Normad once more.
While the instances cannot interact with each other at all, all other interactions with other people and objects are permanent, and do not disappear when the instances vanish. Additionally, after picking an instance to resume reality, Normad must wait a period of time before he can use the ability again. When Normad creates the instances of himself, each one will be wearing and carrying the exact same objects he had at the time of the ripple, and the rules of non-interaction apply to everything that is part of the instance creation
Limitations/Weaknesses
Cooldown Period - Normad cannot use this ability in quick succession, he MUST wait after he finishes it use
Number of Instances - Normad can create two instances quite easily, three is manageable but taxing. Anything more than that is very difficult for him
Duration - Normad can keep the ‘ripple’ active for a short period of time, after which he MUST return to an instance. He can end it early if he wants though
Mental Damage - All of the Instances are linked to Normad’s mind, so if one takes a wound and he picks another instance to return to, Normad still has the memory of the wound. Particular painful or gruesome injuries can deal mental trauma even if the wound no longer exists.
Talents: Normad loves logic puzzles, or more specifically being given a set of rules to work in and breaking the intent of them without breaking the rules themselves. This is helped by his odd and creative way of approaching problems
Normad has developed a decent understanding of how the human body works. After feeling all the ways it can be broken, you begin to get a good idea of how to break other people’s body
Normad has a high threshold of pain, regularly injuries only serve to feed his anger though particular brutal ones can be especially effective at mentally shocking him
