@Greenie He's a married man. She lets him get away with it though, sometime she joins in.

Haha yeah, though I reread the first post because I got confused by his intrigue ^_^

@Greenie He's kind of like a less extreme Aegon 4.

@NecroKnight For future reference the character tab is for accepted sheets, applications would just go here in the OOC.

On to the sheet itself, I think it would be too easy to abuse. Making everything around her slower would mean she could basically steamroll every other character. Especially in a world focused on melee combat where one's ability to react quickly is the difference between life and death. Furthermore, while I can appreciate how a long line of bards might have mystical qualities associated with their voices, being able to slow down time seems completely unrelated to that. It'd be better to pick a different talent that would thematically fit better with singing.

I also find it incredibly unlikely that a passing greenseer, who are incredibly rare, would be inclined to basically enchant an item, which would be an intensive process, and then somehow that enchantment would tie into the person's special power. And again this isn't a setting where enchanted items are common enough where a minor house can get their hands on one. And I find it implausible that a noble House wouldn't already have a blacksmith in the castle walls.

not to mention that magic in GoT almost always requires blood sacrifice

@Masterkeun That's a matter of debate, warging for example. And the kiss of life.

Ditto. I mean, I don't like it when shit gets overtly fantastical, and GoT to me, even when it's got a lot of magic, feels very mysterious and very sort of....well, go look at Melisandre, because that is meant to be how it's executed in some ways- it makes no sense, because we can't logically comprehend it, it defies the very fundamentals that any character comes to understand...this doesn't feel like that, it feels a little too upfront, though that's my view. The Tyrells' and their greenhand (with roses) makes sense, in the same way perhaps the Starks are with direwolves and such- it's borderline, it almost isn't really magic, it's just a trait or a resistance in blood, but I can't help but feel that it doesn't really connect in really....no matter if it is OP or not, it's just, it feels to me that a female Knight from the riverlands who happens to be a one in a million on a lot of other things, is like that. I'd imagine just as said, that magic has to come with an enormous cost, or just really be scaled back- it doesn't feel at all like it's a very additive thing.

Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know, but all I can say is, from my personal view on things, I built the characters I use, both OC and non-OC as being total strangers to magic, to being deep characters I can ply and play in a political and personal sense, and that even goes for people like Ellion, which I feel is what GoT tries to tell- a very sort of intimate, close-in story, rather than looking at a reliance on a gift- which can in it's own, really turn out to be a horrid, horrid curse (reference: Thoros of Myr). It's difficult that one- but I mean, it could be done a little better, or it doesn't really add worth, to what is already a formidable female character.

@MrDidact true true, thought the kiss of life slowly kills the user and wargs get stronger through cannibalism

@kingkonrad I agree with that sentiment. The magic in ASOIAF, whenever it shows up, has to feel dangerous and otherworldly, beyond the comprehension of most mortals.

@Masterkeun Where does it say that wargs get stronger that way? Well we can see that even if the magic doesn't require a sacrifice, lots of effort has to go into it. The road to being a Faceless Man is very extreme for example; and mystics like Euron Greyjoy have to devote decades to the study.

@NecroKnight This isn't meant to discourage you or anything, I simply want everything to mesh well in the setting. Apologies if I appeared brusque.

It's curious, because I always thought the Tyrells only had brown eyes, but as it turns out, it's almost a golden sort of glint that some of them have (particularly in this canon, Alerie and Ellion do), and that is something that is a rather interesting tidbit to have. Contrasts the purple Targaryens, while being a bit different to the rest of Westeros, for some reason.

Post is coming along, it's got a lot of "N'awww" moments in it. Heartwarming shit, because I swear to god, we need this now before major lovable PCs get fucking merked in completely undeserving ways and some fade-to-black/implied sexys happen. This wouldn't be a Game of Thrones roleplay without Kleenex, let's be honest (double meaning there, haha), so I'm getting this out of me so I get bored and at some point, just let the total fucking moral decay take full hold :D

@Greenie

I almost killed my main character in my last GoT RP, and holy shit, it coulda ended up with basically having a main, Ned Stark-level of character build up and payoff just ending there (was split across two posts, so basically it left about half a week before people realised I'd actually just written it as a pretty horrible wound that made my character confined to a bed). Didn't think it would affect me as much as it did- Abe can tell you full well, but it felt fucking horrid, really fucking nilistic in actually writing anything beyond for a little while, just because I really didn't fucking know how I would carry on writing anything....killing characters like that is actually incredibly difficult, once you're properly invested into everything you've had them do, and what you'd have to do as a contingency if they went. I didn't go that far, but it felt like I could have, and came close enough to knowing what it can feel like.

I suppose that's how I know it was worth throwing as an absolute spanner in the works to pretty much everyone else in the RP, the action didn't feel pointless, it's the aftermath of it that was...well, pointless. Like death is, GoT hits us that that absence of life, we just lose our fucking minds when suddenly something goes (and often, in a really horrid, pointless and bloody way). That's what's fucking frightening- it messes with your head IRL, and honestly, from a literary point of view, you can do it too well and pretty much fuck over your mind because you really do not cope with why the fuck you did it, rather than what actually happened. I've killed a character I wrote for four years, in a totally different setting, and I always felt okay with it, because I knew the reality and the harsh facts that drove it to that point, the RP ending straight in that aftermath so it shut and cut the book a bit better. Doing that in the GoT RP was harder because I had to write a man in a bed for the next two months of that RP :D

Posted btw.

Edited by character. I completely removed her magic, and just made her a training ministrel turned knight. I assume with the amount of fighting done around the Riverlands - they might be more 'open' of having more soldiers (men and women) under arms, to defend against a next such an attack.

@Greenie Nobody is safe, not even the cats.

@Masterkeun But it can be agreed that something hinky is going on there; in the books at least.

@kingkonrad Yeah it's an odd feeling being a writer with control of the life or deaths of fictional characters.

@Asura How's your Greyjoy bastard character coming? Have you made a decision on whether you want a Dothraki PC?

@NecroKnight Accepted, welcome to the RP :)
