Woo, best sword boyyyyyyy

Considering the nature of Talentium, tournaments, especially upscale ones, would be monitored rather heavily, both to protect participants and audience. You're talking about superhumans duking it out when they don't even necessarily have the durability to stay alive, after all. I think it'd make more sense if something went wrong in a crusade in Talze Utera rather than a fighting tournament.

To confirm, does Brave Lodall and Ecva's Love increase his physical attributes on top of the boost he gets from Talentium? Or not? Cause it's sort of a case where if not, he's REALLY weak, and if yes, he's REALLY strong.

Also, to further elaborate...

Sword Skills are techniques, not just straight up buffs or stuff like that. They're special moves that have obtained the ability to warp reality for the sake of a singular desire. If you go full animu reference, if someone really wanted to cut down a swallow, they'd obtain the ability to strike three times simultaneously. If someone really wanted to be able to launch anyone in the air with an uppercut, they'd have an uppercut that can unconditionally launch any enemy, no matter how unreasonably massive.

On the other hand, the physical boost they get from Talentium is in line more with their image of what 'strength' is. People who imagine that 'strength' is the ability to endure would get their physical boost skewed towards durability, while someone who imagines 'strength' as the ability to beat down those in their path would get their physical boost skewed towards striking power.

So yeah.

Lodall's Band sounds pretty evil. What's up with that? XD

Guess this could serve as a visual sample of just how crazy fights can get?

Probably not that much property destruction tho.

Alright let's dive right in.

Well I saw Banor (the swordsman using Talentium) as a interloper. Kinda of a renegade that simply attacked the winner for no-reason besides wanting to prove himself stronger. Brave Lodall and Ecva's Love is how few the different aspects. Lodall was physically strong being, an ideal to admire, so it meagerly boosted his strength to notable but not incredible heights. Ecva's Love is more pure, powerful, and emotional. We all know how emotions can strengthen a person's resolve and determination. So that's more of a devastating change.

I'm guessing you don't have a problem with Relena's Left Arm?

I wasn't too sure on how the Talentium boost worked. To me it was a bit subjective so if I had to place it, I would say apart from Brave Lodall and Ecva's Love (which are facets of his ideal of strength) the Talentium would empower him somewhere in the middle-area. He'd probably be bit more swifter.

As for Lodall's Band, well I figured he was a powerful swordsman in his day. Had some pretty dope adventures, befriended some oddities, made enemies of some oddities. I'm guessing the band came from some x adventure in some x place. Some artifact that he liked and looted. Ecva just called it his band because he wore it almost all the time. Just so happened he stopped wearing it a few years back for unknown reasons.

Mimicry will be fine.

Just note that she'll be a super glass cannon for now. Females don't get Talentium buffs to their physique, so if she gets hit, that shit's gonna hurt like hell.

@Lemons
Should be doable? Give me more details though.

Indeed. I will never deny being a horrible person. It's an image I've had saved for a while, too bad I had to ruin it.

<Snipped quote by ERode>

If someone has a whole lot of slaves, one trying to escape might give the rest ideas. A permanent and very visual message would get the point across. Since she was less valuable afterwards then it also wouldn't matter if she were treated badly and given harsher punishments.

<Snipped quote by ERode>
Natala is free now and has worked hard to earn that. In her eyes other people are less important, having been born into freedom.

<Snipped quote by ERode>
I guess it's more of a talent for mimicry. If she watches something done just a couple of times she can replicate it. With a language though she could repeat phrases flawlessly but wouldn't have any idea of the meaning or syntax unless it was explained. This ability would apply to anything she is physically capable of and is how she learned to use a sword to begin with.

<Snipped quote by ERode>
That's right. In hindsight it might be a little below the power level of others but it does have plenty of utility.

So it's something that happened after the tournament already concluded, not during the tournament?

And there's probably going to be a limit to Relena's Left as well. Sounds like you can just charge it up to obscene amounts by hitting fodders until you get to x100, but conceptually, it's not that terrible. Talentium battorus are usually more centered on dodging and parrying anyways, due to how powerful the attacks exchanged are.

As I stated before, being able to multiply the power of an already present buff afterwards is pretty stronk. If he moves at the speed of sound, for example, dropping Ecva's Love would then make him go Mach 6, which is sorta...yahhhhhhh. I'd say give those two buff thingies a time limit or have him sustain intense physical damage when he activates these things.

If he was a powerful swordsman back in the day, he would have been in the military and then, in the war. Not much room for adventuring and all, between trying to survive being on the frontlines against the Empire and trying to deal with rift-beasts without Talentium and crusading against the menagerie within Talze Utera. If he picked up an artifact there, it'd be more likely that it'd be destroyed to sent off to the church for purification rather that just being something he wears.

Probably Dansila or Talze Utera, but Talze Utera is more like demon-worshipping and all that. Illiserev just believes in money.

@ERode Mhm to the first sentence. Also that's understandable, I could definitely add in a time-limit to Brave Lodall's and a draw back to Ecva's Love.

I'll scrap the band too, that was one of those "bold steps" I had taken.

I was thinking a monster called an Ashphol, which is essentially what happens when wild lightning comes into prolonged contact with Talze Utera. They are born full-formed from pure elemental lightning, but only live for four years, at the longest. They can freely manipulate their own lightning, but doing so drains directly from their essence, slowly reducing the amount of time they have to life. That cool?

Right so what's sketchy about a dog? Also keep in mind it's not a regular dog, he's a pc on the level of everyone else except in dog shape.

Also you never did answer my question on how this game can do bards.

What do you mean by prolonged contact? As far as I know, natural lightning strikes occur in an instant and then disappear?

And if they're made out of pure elemental lightning, then can't their bodies be manipulated by other magical people?

I phrased that very poorly. Not so much the lightning itself having prolonged contact, but a storm in which lightning is present having prolonged contact. Think of it like saturation; if enough lightning strikes in a short enough time, an Ashphol forms. And yes, the body could be manipulated by magic users. But it's not like obviously made entirely of lightning; they have a basic humanoid form. Feel free to shoot this all down if you're not a fan.

It's like you didn't read up on anything at all in the first post and decided it was better to copy information from TheFake's CS instead of look at the actual CS template that has specific instructions about various things.

You're out.

@SilverDawn
Astopolian colors are blue and white. That's a color code for him to aggro onto.

Dude's a hell of a tsundere though. Goddamn just make up your mind.

If he uses his spears as a weapon, can other people also grab onto them? Or not? Essentially, are these spears physical? Magical? Intangible?

A curse that curses you with immortality and regeneration AND keeps your sanity in check is not a curse. Let's say that he gains this auto-regen ability by passively sapping the life force of those around him, as well as interfering with healing magic. A curse that ensures solitude, perhaps.

@Lemons
I'll say that these Ashphols can recharge their essence by absorbing more natural lightning, because having only four years of life is sorta annoying, cause it takes time to learn shit as well. Would the basic human form look totally like a human?

Also, would an Ashphol be considered a living being? Or is it just an elemental with a mind?

@Jerkchicken
I dislike the idea of a dog, even a magical one that can speak and shit. Doesn't seem to fit the setting I have in mind and it sounds too outlandish. Essentially what Click said.

Bards exist. They're singers and musicians. Magic that comes from song is also a thing, but it's too slow to properly incorporate into combat that can go supersonic. Buffing up other individuals is possible, but, like healing magic, Talentium only increases the amount of people that can be affected, not the potency of the buff.

T E E N A N G S T

Yea. That's one of the weaknesses of his curse. Anyone can tear out the spears if they get behind him. They can even use the spears on him, if they feel like it. Hell, they could even kick him in the jaw and take the spears away from him while he's using them. The spears are the curse solidified, so to speak. While they're inside of him, they're intangible magic. While outside, they're physical with a bit of magic power to sip life.

Shit dog, that's a great idea. Now I feel bad for not thinking of it.
