I'm not sure when I'll have a post up today, but I'll do my best to get one up. Luckily, Nathan isn't one to go out of his way to converse with people, so it'll make the process a bit easier for me.
Name: Kyra Valentina Image: http://dreamself.me/full.php?fg=0&ffg=0&bg=0&back=0&hat=10633132&accen=0&face=10537243&hair=10355902&accef=0&pose=0&top=10345816&coat=0&acceh=0&bottom=1032281&shoe=10349084&bodycolor=17000193&action=change&id=0& I'd say Kyra is about 4'9". She smol. Age: 16 Gender: Female Orientation: Pansexual, but leans mostly towards females Mage or Familiar: Familiar Ability: Partner: Personality: Kyra is a rather shy girl, but is passionate. She is quiet and may seem introverted, but is really quite the opposite. Once you get to know her, you can see just how happy she is sharing love with others. She-- in her words-- ‘loves to love things’, which therefore multiplies her love ‘by a factor of seven’. A lot of love packed in a petite 16-year-old, I know, but you gotta love what you do. :3 She sees herself as a little bit too rushed in everything she does-- which does happen pretty often… she can also be overbearing, naive, gullible… she’s a little too trusting, and fairly easy to manipulate. She’s also very afraid of puppets. Biography: Kyra was born into a very average family. Her mother and father both had stable, average income jobs, and her older sister- Lina Valentina- had graduated years ago. As a young child, her mother and father pressed her into trying different things, when all she wanted to do was help other people. As a young child, at first it seemed like she wouldn’t go much of anywhere in life, but her desire to help people became apparent with age.. While her mind grew, her body fell behind, and she is still rather small for her age. Being small has its perks, but when everybody has teased you for it? It’s a little surprising she still has this much passion and hope when she’s been pushed around all through school. Other students calling her a baby, boys and girls alike rejecting her for ‘not being cool enough’- average enough, I know, but when they also steal from you, openly lie to make you get in trouble, and lock you in bathrooms, it’s not as average. She still fuels her days with love, though, for she feels that if nobody gives love to those who need it, then how are we still here? In order to actually join the academy, she had to scrape up the money by doing (more than) a few simple side jobs- babysitting and stuff like that. Her parents helped her out, saving money ever since her sister Lina had graduated, and giving it to Kyra to help her get to the acaedemy. She feels that the more she learns, the better she can help people, and feels that helping people is her purpose. Likes: Sweet foods, puzzle games, helping other people, cats Dislikes: Unnecessary rudeness, loud country or hip-hop music, puppets Points: 0 Proficiency: 4 Intelligence: 3 Athletics: 3 Misc.: She has pupaphobia (fear of puppets). Name: Ngiwan Ziajk Liep, Vyvyan Imperial Image or Description: 1.64 metres tall when standing straight, or about 5 feet 4 inches. Vyvyan is thinly built, effeminately so. His longer hair and soft voice only contribute to the girlish impression. Age: 15 Gender: Male Orientation: Heterosexual Mage or Familiar: Familiar Ability: Partner: Personality: Frugal despite—or perhaps because of—his background, a product of education by parents who earned their wealth. Vyvyan is timid in person around those he is meeting for the first time, but can warm up to others, classmates he meets daily especially, within a month or two. In writing, however, with the time to think, he is more bold. He is quite self-conscious, fearful of making a bad impression or gaining a poor reputation, to the point where some might even describe him as pessimistic, though he tries his damndest to keep an optimistic outlook. Vyvyan tends to downplay his own achievements, and gets flustered easily by praise, as pleasing as it is. Biography: Son of a Prydainian and an immigrant, Vyvyan is a true-blue city kid, his only experiences with population density below four digits before coming to St Fortuna being parks and nature reserves. For much of his early life, he was doted on by his brother and parents, not helping his naïveté and inexperience, though given his spastic diplegia, he finds it difficult to fault them for being a bit overprotective of him in his first dozen years.
The pressure to perform was still omnipresent, however. Fortunately, Vyvyan was able to meet both his and his family's expectations. At the end of every year, his report book was stellar, sometimes literally when his younger self did decoration. As a primary schooler, he was placed in special academic programmes for the gifted, and participated in various competitions of as many subjects, maybe creative writing, or music, or instead the sciences and mathematics. Passing through his primary education with ease, Vyvyan spent a significant amount of time reading beyond his textbooks and curriculum, pursuing out-of-syllabus matters that interested him, and even more advanced material.
Vyvyan did not neglect non-scholastic activities either, being an alto in his prior school's choir and a saxophonist in the symphonic band, though he is far less athletically-inclined, having relied on enthusiastically helpful classmates and family until receiving an electric wheelchair. Every now and then, however, he spent his time, recesses most often, playing frisbee and casual table tennis, in addition to physiotherapy. His diligence, both in academics and co-curricular activities, earned him acceptance to St Fortuna with a scholarship. It had taken quite some persuasion, as well as adjustments in order to fit their criteria, but Vyvyan managed to obtain parental approval to board at St Fortuna. Likes: Chicken rice, meritocracy, orchids, rain, A grades, greenery, reading, singing, playing the saxophone Dislikes: The cold, gum, uncleanliness, drug dealers, smoke, restaurants, being given preferential treatment due to disability, overspending Points: 10 Proficiency: 1 Intelligence: 8 Athletics: 1 Misc.: Vyvyan's speech is only slightly slurred, and he retains control over his upper body, albeit weakened and not as coordinated, but he can only manage short distances out of a wheelchair. He usually speaks a much more colloquial dialect with friends, and has an odd accent even in formal situations, no matter how hard he may try to suppress it. For example, 'Prydain' often comes out more like 'Brytain' at best, or sometimes just 'Biten'. Quiz Answers: What is your character's greatest regret? I don't really regret many things... yay, sheltered life. I suppose it would be when I got 60-something for Higher Mother Tongue for my mid-year exams once. I disappointed myself most of all with that, though I'm not sure what I had expected, considering how I slacked a lot on that, and as a result, got my just desserts. I bucked up after that, though, so... I suppose it's actually a good thing? I hope I don't sound too arrogant or stuck-up. Sixty, though...
Your character is home alone after watching a horror movie and they hear a strange sound. What do they do? I'm not usually home alone, and if I were, I probably wouldn't be watching a horror movie, unless I'm trying to torture myself! But if it sounds like an actual threat, something serious, and not just bumps in the night, I'd make my way to the neighbour's door and ask for help. If it isn't, or I'm too petrified to move that far, I'd hide in a corner, phone in hand, ready to call 999, until I've convinced myself that nothing's out to murder me horribly, or resign myself to my fate. Though, I suppose such fears would be justified in other cities and places, like Erridún.
Two of your characters’ friends are fighting over something trivial, and they want them to stop. How do they go about this? Implying I have friends... I do, but they're all back home, unfortunately. First, I'd probably do a bunch of research, since I don't have much social experience, I'll admit. I'd also need to see if anyone else they know is trying to do something as well, so we don't clash or anything. Then, I'd try to get a grip of the background and the situation, from both parties, so I'm not just interfering blindly. Eventually, I hope that they can be convinced that the matter isn't important at all and reconcile.
While your character is on their way to class, they realize they forgot something crucial. They’re already on the verge of running late. What do they do? Head on to class anyway, accepting whatever punishment comes. If someone I know, a friend, can help me out, I'd be glad so long as it doesn't inconenience them, but otherwise, I'd probably miss half the class if I tried to go get it back. I'd also remember to actually pack properly next time, preferrably with a note in blood or ink. Wait, do you change classrooms for different periods?
If your character had the opportunity to turn into any animal, what would that animal be? Another H. s. sapiens. Truly putting myself in another's shoes. Wait, is the change permanent? Ah, I'd stay as I am, then.
If your character’s house were on fire, and they only had time to save one thing from their room, what would it be? In all honesty, with that much time, I probably wouldn't be able to save myself, let alone any other things! Anywho, I'd choose my brother. He's using my room now. I know he's five years older, serves in Armour, is currently in OCS, and is damn fit, but still. If not him, then my phone. First, I'd call the firefighters, and then warn the neighbours.
What season does your character like best and why? Summer! I don't cope well with the cold, so the warmest season's the least horrible for me, and even then, I sometimes wear jackets in the sun. Stuff tends to be cheaper, too! If I really, absolutely, need shopping done, the summer sale tends to be a good enough time to do so.
Vacation! You character gets to spend a week anywhere! Where is it and what do they do? Heaven! Where I will learn about things I wouldn't be able to in this world! Subject to the locals' willingness. That, and I'll talk to everyone I can, if it won't bother them all too much. Maybe get some singing tips? Password: Wanton noodles
@SorrelmystWhenever I see someone use that DreamSelfy thing I get the urge to see if I can make my character in it too... and sift through the millions of different options.
Dammit! Now my next hour is gonna be spent wasted trying to find the perfect hair or something.

like both your characters btw
I have the exact same problem! ... and definitely not an entire album dedicated to my various characters as dream selfies...
First off, some issues with your character’s personality. There’s not a whole lot of it. Can you expand on how she’s selfish? Not only that, but selfish and loyal tend to be on opposite sides of a personality wheel. A loyal person is devoted and goes out of their way to help and stand by those they’re loyal to, even if it puts themselves in harm’s way. Selfish people, on the other hand, look out for number one. They protect their own interests above all else. Please either elaborate and reconcile these two traits, or pick one over the other. Also, pessimism contradicts pragmatism in a number of ways, the first being that pessimistic people see only the depressing points of life, and thus aren’t as thoughtful or logical as true pragmatists. The word you might be searching for is realist, who sees life without the “filters” of pessimism or optimism. In all, please include more of her personality in general.
Now for her history. Expand on her parents. Why was she raised by a single mother? What was her relationship with her mother? Was there anyone else in her early life? You make it sound as though a single mother working multiple jobs is neglectful, and as many people raised by single mothers will tell you, this is not the case. How did she relate with the neighbor, as that’s the person she spent most of her early life with? Please elaborate some more on her early life and give more reason as to why this would make a 5 year old bitter.
Why would she have no good prospects in her town? Rural life is not a deep appalachia dead-end. What are her ambitions? Why does she feel trapped? Why does she want to leave? There is no real motivation or driving force in her backstory. Also, if her parents are divorced, how does she know nothing of her father? It would be one thing if she was a one-night stand baby, but her parents were married! You can’t erase a marriage certificate. Please clarify again on the backstory with the parents, because this does not make sense or match with previous characterization. Additionally, there’s just not enough here on her motives to attend St. Fortuna’s. She might have the grades, but why does she want to go? This is a very prestigious, very strict, academically intense boarding school. It’s not something you decide on a whim. Please give her just more drive and ambition in general. As it stands, this character simply feels too apathetic. That might be because of the confusing and lacking personality, but I have no idea as to any of her motives.
All in all, your character is an outline. It’s a good start, but it needs more, well, character. Flesh out her personality, pick traits that are more coexistent with each other, and beef up her backstory. Clear up the mystery of her father and fix the contradicting details, and give her more drive and ambition. It can take a lot of moxie to leave a helpless situation, and your character is rather lacking in moxie. Once these changes are made, we would be glad to review your character again. :)
Thanks for clearing that up. And now, *trumpets sound* Great news! You’re accepted! We’ll move your character to the waiting list ASAP. You can post your character sheet in the characters tab, and we’ll give you your partner and power soon!
Much better, thank you for making those edits. *Trumpets sound again* Congratulations! You’re accepted! We’ll move your character to the waiting list ASAP. You can post your character sheet to the character’s tab, and once a new mage is accepted, we’ll partner you up, give you a power, and then you can join the IC with your classmates! Until then, please don’t post in the IC, and if you’re on the waiting list for a over a week, we’ll work out a new arrangement for you. :)
@Invader Len Ah...so many posts since i last looked here last night. (@__@)
Trying to read over the posts to get an idea, but in the meantime....anyone have a quick summary about what's happened so far? XD
Students are getting off the train, grabbing their luggage, and heading to the school. We've had about 5 centers of action thus far, and currently our centers are:
Center #1: Nancy, Felicty, Monty, walking to school and chatting.
Center #2: Janine, Delaney, and Henri converging and throwing Koreey some shade catching up.
Center #3: Regis bugging Ruby, who is trying to avoid the awkwardness by helping Korrey with bags, and meeting Anelise.
Center #4: Richard and Beatrice struggling with a gigantic suitcase, and meeting Talia, whom Richard knows from gaming exploits online.
Center #5: Two bears viciously maul a scared innocent child to death, ft. Clyde as the child, and Lilac and Leo as the bears.
There are other characters sprinkled here and there, doing their stuff, but these are the current conversations going on. Everyone's ultimate goal is to eventually get to the school, where the next big transition will happen, and Y'all will get your partners.
Finally got my first post up, just a little something to try to get things moving for Elena!
Though if Clyde is transformed into "Clyde Brand Bear Chow", he should probably invest in some "bear repellent". He could also play dead or climb up a tree, as maybe those things could work too. XD
