@tipssyCalibrator

I'd personally say the Hunger Games one first, because the Tournament seems like an end of year, 'one true winner' thing while the Hunger Games could just be pass or fail and would maker a better mid-year exam. Plus, sit the tournament later, and the characters will have more abilities, meaning flashier fights.

On the other hand, Mako's class is purely academic so I have to think of a way for her exams to be interesting. Or maybe they're not, and the fact you have to sit an ordinary paper exam straight after a fucking Hunger Games exam is the joke.

@tipssyCalibrator I think the forest of death should happen first. It's better for establishing grudges and relationships for the tournament, and will make it more climactic. However, I'm not too keen on pre-deciding the matches for the tournament. I think if players want to pre-decide a match for dramatic flair, that can be an option to them, but I think it would be more fun to do it somewhat competitively.

My suggestion (and this is just a suggestion btw), once the fights are set up, make a single post in the IC thread with setup and introduction and whatnot, then link to an Arena thread where the actual fighting will take place. This will help prevent chaos in the thread of multiple fights going on at once. The fight will go on for a set number of posts or time limit, or whatever is decided to be fair, and then a panel of mystery judges (players picked by the GM with no personal stakes in the fight) will assess the fight and decide who should logically win. The winner then gets to write a "finisher" post to put in whatever dramatic flair is needed for the story.

It requires a bit more work than just pre-deciding the winners, but let's face it, I think everybody has their own desires for the tournament outcome, and I think it should come down to combat roleplaying ability.

Opinions everyone?

Question; How do you arena roleplay? I've never done it before.

@Silver Carrot Well, we don't have to go as crazy as the Arena League rules. Basically, if two people wanna have at it, they just make a thread and go. We can still follow our own set of rules if we want.

Alright. This does seem like the only fair way. I'm all for crafting a compelling overarching Tournament story over fighting to win, but this is the only fair to decide which half of all the entrants go out in round 1, because nobody here would want to agree to that.

Yeah, I'd prefer just letting the players decide, since that's more interesting. I mean, I know there are a lot of times where players just want their characters to win, but I can always just establish at the beginning of the tournament arc that the tournament is less about whether or not your character wins (I mean that's obviously what it is in universe, but in the meta sense it's not) and more about having a fun, exciting tournament arc

My suggestion (and this is just a suggestion btw), once the fights are set up, make a single post in the IC thread with setup and introduction and whatnot, then link to an Arena thread where the actual fighting will take place. I dunno, I feel like putting a lot of details and rules into it and getting all formal like that might make the players want to make their characters want to win over making an enjoyable tournament arc. I already have a couple of rules planned in universe for what will count as a win and all that

@tipssyCalibratorWell, if we don't want to make this competitive, then I'd like Ryuuto to have an absurd disadvantage against his opponent in round 1 so he can pull a Shikamaru. I just don't think a combat based tournament is all that fun when everything is pre-determined.

Aye. I'd like to see what players can come up with rather than predetermining anything, myself, but if two players want to make a deal on which character wins and which character loses and guide the fight in that direction, that's pretty cool too.

So, decided to make a straw poll. Figure it's a good way to see what the players want to do. For the sake of this poll, "Pre-determined" means ALL matches will be pre-determined, and "Competitive" means, players still have the option to make the fight Pre-determined if they want to.

This will be a good way to see where everyone stands on it.

I don't think it should be just one way or the other, I just want it to be whatever each player decides really. When a match comes up, the players decide between each other if they want to decide the outcome before or after and if they want to use collab posts and all that, and we'll just go by the in universe rules for the tournament

I feel bad now, Rumi doesn't have a Wavecaster to work with! )=

But! If she upgrades his eye-powers, he could technically pull off weirder and more precise throws with his shuriken, which could technically be a decent ranged attack?

The description of Black Hole says that things can be destroyed by it in certain circumstances. Does that include humans? Because if so, that's pretty OP
