As someone who hates education in general, it might seem confusing that Biff enjoys research considerably. She enjoys being the smartest person in the room full of sheep when it comes to her chosen subjects. Who cares about algebra or anatomy when someone needs to help a ghost pass on, or when a demon comes knocking? Biff respects those who have their own expertise, so long as they listen to her when it's her domain being discussed. If nothing else, she hates being ignored almost as much as she loves being right.

A sharp tongue and quick wit support Biff in her endeavors as a performance artist. She has a flair for the dramatic. Every act of escapology must be delayed until the audience is on the edge of their seats; every card trick drawn out to create the greatest of mysteries. Biff is a good showman and revels in holding someone's (or several someones') attention for a period of time.

Biff rarely feels strong emotions. It is difficult to manipulate her, or alter her emotions through unnatural means, because she does not act upon them. She is not easily guilted, appeals to her better nature go unanswered, and soon enough everyone (even her own mother) will realise that she is just like her father in her stoicism. It goes without saying, Biff finds it difficult to keep friends once made, because she's a ball of witty one-liners constantly keeping others at arm's length, playing the 'hard man'.

Then again, she does care quite a bit about those who do stick around, even if she's too deadpan for it to show.

⚜ Sleight of Hand – It's not just a matter of hiding extra cards up her sleeves during poker or performing a few "magic" tricks. Biff's deftness also extends to pocketing small objects of interest without their owner noticing, or concealing a weapon.

⚜ Escapology – Like the great Houdini himself, Biff enjoys escaping from handcuffs, locked chests, ropes and restraints in her free time. It's not really clear how she does it, only that she enjoys baffling others whenever possible.

⚜ Knowledge of the Occult – Studying for school isn't really her thing, but there is a sense of wonder in just researching the unknown. Biff has spent a lot of time immersed in the craft, and now she has a near-encyclopedic knowledge of many of the dangers she might face.

☠ Physical Activity – Biff is not able to sprint a hundred meters without coughing up half a lung. Short bursts of exercise are as much as she can manage, as a smoker and someone who avoids working hard in Gym class like the plague.

☠ Psychically Open – Since her psychic connection with Nergal was muted, Biff has had issues with closing herself off. She herself is not telepathic, but those who look into her mind will easily see the irreparable damage that has been done and read her like an open book. Still... there are things that lurk in the corners of one's mind when they've been touched by a demon. Fangs.

☠ Doesn't Know When to Quit – Biff is as stubborn as an ox when she sets her mind to something, and nothing – not even the strongest emotions, like fear, or love – can make her change her mind about it.

Shortly before Biff was born, her mother left her father, citing his unwillingness to leave the dangerous life of the occult behind. Maybe it was fair, maybe it wasn't, but there was no denying that John Constantine did not follow the easiest of paths. He had already died (and been resurrected) twice-over at that point. His name had become synonymous with 'great' in the circles he encountered. His name frightened demons. He made deals in fractions of his soul, because he'd sold it so often.

That path is the one that Biff wanted to follow. Living briefly in most of the major cities in the UK (including Belfast, during her early years) it didn't take long until Kit Ryan took her daughter to Liverpool, where some of her father's friends still skulked about. One uncle-figure taught her card tricks. Another taught her the runic alphabet. All of it was done outside of her mother's watchful gaze, and it took very little time for Biff to become a dabbler herself, chasing all the leads the internet had to offer.

Kit Ryan, of course, was beside herself when she found out. She had maintained contact with John throughout the years, particularly when Biff's Nergal-induced nightmares became too frequent to maintain a normal life, but since that problem had been solved, she swore never to have anything else to do with the occult. Unfortunately her daughter disagreed, dropping out of school in Liverpool when she was sixteen to hunt down the elusive magician, with a little help from his network of contacts.

There was no chance of travelling with him, not being so vulnerable to psychic assaults, and so she was sent away after the first (violent) mishap... to somewhere safe.

Biff has some talent for forseeing the future, mostly in the form of omens and mysterious symbols in the waking world. Occasionally, she has prophetic dreams – faces and names and places all flash by her, and she is forced to scramble to connect the dots when she is awake. Purposeful rituals and trances allow her more control over this talent, turning it from scattered flashes into something more akin to astral projection, scrying into the past, present, or future.

Like any good dabbler in the occult, Biff is familiar with an array of defensive and offensive spells and they are no mere parlour tricks. Her go-to form of magic is anything involving fires, specifically fireballs which she can light from a cigarette or a Zippo lighter – a trick her father's friend taught her when she was much younger. She also has passing knowledge of voodoo (the 'easier', bad luck hexes), due to a fortnight spent in the company of Papa Midnite while tracking down her father.

What would John Constantine's daughter be if she didn't follow in his footsteps, mirroring his own mistakes? Biff has intimate knowledge of the unsavoury side of her father's occupation, and is mostly self-taught in this aspect. She has not summoned anything yet, let alone something as powerful as Nergal. Because of this, she is also good at combating demons through Biblical means or otherwise.

Just as John Constantine has the taint of demon blood running through his veins, a gift from the demon Nergal, so too does his daughter. Biff's blood heals her own minor wounds, but can also be injected into another person so as to aid their recover, though it also taints the recipient. A resistance to aging is another side-effect. This trait did once psychically link her to Nergal, causing terrible nightmares; however, the connection has since been severed.

Leonard takes after his mother, which is not surprising, given that she is the only parental figure he's ever known, however irresponsible she may be. The most important lesson he ever learned from Selina Kyle was to be independent at all costs, to embrace freedom and its consequences, to love whomever he chooses but become trapped by them. He learned how to take care of himself (and others) at a young age, mostly by necessity, and as a result absolutely hates being hen-pecked or mothered himself. Left to his own devices, he'll usually come back.

He likes the finer things in life – fashion, wealth, jewels – and like a magpie with a particularly shiny bauble, he often takes what he wants. His love of the 'high life' extends to his attitudes to people: he loves beauty, and not just the superficial. Kind hearts are as rare as painite, as far as he is concerned; something to be prized. Leo considers himself to be, if not kind, then something equally special. People who don't want to treat him as he deserves (which, ideally, is like a king or queen) aren't worth his time.

⚜ Tricks of the Trade – Leo was gifted his first lockpicking set when he was just a child and told that it was okay to go and play. The tools of petty crime are second nature to him, and breaking and entering without detection is something he is more than capable of, if he so desired.

⚜ Body Language – Observation of the way people act is important when it comes to learning a mark. Leo knows the subtle micro-expressions that denote disgust (or lust); the way a mouth moves when someone is faking a smile; the importance of eyes in lying. Outside of interpretation, he can adjust his own body language to create a facade for someone else.

⚜ Calm Mind – The meditative techniques taught to him by his sensei are of great use in combating telepathic assaults as a mere mortal. He might not have any natural defenses, but even Leo's mind rarely lets slip any weaknesses he might have, or betrays a difference between thought and action. When he acts, he acts whole-heartedly. This calmness makes it easier for him to compartmentalise pain, physical or emotional.

☠ Vain – Leo dislikes receiving visible injuries and looking anything less than stellar. He vehemently protests to doing anything that is 'low' or 'lesser', not because he's afraid of getting his hands dirty, but because that's a job for other people.

☠ Amoral – Betraying friends and family isn't difficult if it's in the name of short-term gain. Loyalty is an interesting concept for Leo, because cats (and his mother) don't see things the same way that humans do. This often causes friction with others, much to his indifference.

☠ Thrill of the Hunt – Leo can lose himself too easily in the pursuit of pleasure or pain. He is innately short-sighted, living in the moment, and is generally unwilling to participate in long-term plans, even if they will eventually benefit him.

Leonard was left to his own devices as a kid, dumped off with friends of friends when he was too young to care for himself and later making his own breakfast as early as he could reach the countertops. Selina Kyle wasn't absent, just busy, and in this world there are few who understand her need for independence as well as Leo does. He feels the same urge to be alone, and took what few moments of affection that he could from his mother.

Catwoman hasn't given up her grand larceny, but she did allow for her identity to be revealed in order to preserve the world – sort of. The only thing connected to the name Selina Kyle was her son, and with him now outed to the public, a target was placed upon him. It was safer (she decided, all on her own) to 'convince' him to spend time at the Academy, knowing that he would hate being so trapped after only a short while.

Leo is just a bit bitter for that, but she bribed him with shiny things, and he loves shiny things.

Leo is extremely agile and a competent acrobat, with almost Cirque du Soleil levels of talent. With both strength and speed on his side, he finds urban exploration easy, and his nightly runs are done on rooftops, not sidewalks. He is double-jointed, flexible, and can twist in ways that might seem superhuman – or cat-like.

Selina Kyle wanted any child of hers to feel safe in Gotham, and the only way to achieve that is to train them. With some training from her former mentor, Wildcat, Leo learned the necessities of street-fighting and boxing, though he never showed much of an interest in it. Later he would learn Capoeira on and off direct from his mother.

Leo has a sixth sense for staying undetected. He is acutely aware of how to avoid line of sight and following a mark is as easy as breathing. He isn't quite as ambitious as the other burglars of Gotham, snatching only what is nearby, so he uses this talent most often to find himself some breathing space.

Cats really like him.
