Jin is quite bisexual, but keeps this a secret. I figure she'd enjoy looking at men and women, but I understand how it could make the balance of the RP confusing. So she'll just think everyone is sexy without really pursuing anyone.

Added ship name for Rhea's sheet.

@Juno I'm guessing pirate hunting wouldn't be a big concern for the city guard, as inland as it is?
@deyinger Could I bother you to put a small settlement in one of the Shimmering Sea's bays? Vagrant's Rest or something. Just a small hidden spot for smugglers to lay low.

Yeah, my interpretation of things wasn't necessarily that there are no LGBTQ Marked, but that we just weren't playing them for game reasons because it would have made matching up even pairs completely impossible. Seriously, we're having enough trouble getting as many girls as guys anyway, now imagine half of said girls are only interested in other girls - RP would never have gotten off the ground.

But again, that's just my interpretation - the Mother/Father explanation is also a good one.

@Tackytaff Their duties would likely be confined to the city, so at the very least it's not a priority as there's criminals operating closer to home to look out for. However, if they were fencing stolen goods in the Royal City itself, it would maybe be something to stamp down on, and even something for actual-terrible-guardsman Faolán to be involved in.

...which might also be of interest to @Thorn, too. What if, in the run up to the Festival, there was an effort to crack down on all this Definitely Illegal Activity? I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but there could definitely be a side-plot around here somewhere, assuming the characters aren't all busy finding their One True Heterosexual Love and making out in broom closets.

CSI: Orewyn.

There's more to this thread than broom closets. Darius, for example, is going to be brooding in corners, reading in corners, observing people from corners, and making awkward conversation whenever someone tries to approach him in his corner. Occasionally slipping off to other places like the garden, the library, a basement, or MAYBE a broom closet for a change of scenery. All that, and geeking out with Arthur.

...

I'm actually joking. He will occasionally approach some people - other loners like him, or people who he has already met. He just won't have an amazing introductory line.

@Not Fishing

Not too different from Faolán, then, who's also a broody wallflower that does not want to be there and would rather be, I don't know, dealing with violent drunks or people loitering on the street or something.

No lollygaggin'.

We should stop editing our posts, demmit.

Darius opens a broom closet with history tome in hand, looking for a quiet place to read and think, away from all the dancing and singing.

Encounters Rhea and Nora vigorously making out.

Darius: ...

Rhea: ...

Nora: ...

Darius slowly closes the door and walks away.

Roleplay needs more lady-love, fanservice for the female gaze =]

I do wish I'd stuck with my female character idea, which was Brienne of Tarth a Kristen Stewart knight, but I just can't do MxF pairings playing the girl anymore. Squicks me out.

@Juno Um... I'm not sure you used 'The Female Gaze' correctly... might just be me, 'cause it's been a while since I've dealt with the fe/male gazes, but it doesn't fit correctly for me, at least.

@CollectorOfMyst

You're absolutely right. What I meant to say was: 'We need more lady-love in here. Fanservice for the female gayz.' Got my homophones mixed up. ;)

@JunoThere's enough Yuri on this site. Mostly with female writers and male writers writing for females. Yaoi is the rare genre.

@Tackytaff KnightofDoom will work on a female.

@Holy Soldier I think that the GMs already explained this. Because it's the Mother and Father, it'll be men and women. Though there's been no consensus on the actual presence or acceptance of LGBTQA+ people, we can assume they're probably present. They just aren't wingmanned by the gods.

That's entirely accurate! There are LGBT people in the world, though specially in Orewyn and Galinas they're really looked down upon. It has most to do with the fact that their religion focuses on a husband and wife. The Mark is supposed to reflect this relationship, too. A lot of the prejudice against same-sex relationships in this world is due to both the Mother and Father's opposite-sex marriage, and the fact that two Destined are always opposite sex. But as @Sisyphus said, the biggest reason we went for heterosexual pairings is because we figured it would've been a headache to pair every one evenly, and it might've come to narrowing down who you could've ended with. This way, the mistery is spread evenly.

That said if you guys want to go that route, you're absolutely more than welcome to! BUT that means that you will not find your Destined and will lose your powers.

@Tackytaff Done!
