Calm * Depressed * Intelligent * Powerful
Sexuality: Homosexual (strongly)
Relationship Status: Single
Personality: Nimue is a calm, composed character on most occasions, even in the middle of battle, though this could be said to stem from the tragedy in her life that has worn her down enough to be able to handle herself like this. That being noted, she can express emotion and carry on a conversation like any normal human being could, though always seems to have a slight depressed nature about her tone of voice. She is a mind of great intellect in regards to magic and magitech, to the point that in her time she was most famous for being a mage, and even in the myths of her in current time she is best known for being a mage and magic user for these reasons. However, when it comes to romance she enjoys it while at the same time feels slightly depressed about it as well. One can call her a bit "hopeless" in that the one woman she loved never returned her affections....in essence, she was on the "losing" end of an unrequited love in her lifetime. This does not mean she wouldn't be vying for her love right away or even at some point after being resurrected, however.
Nimue also has the tendency to be cautious in her plans, if possible, though when push comes to shove she will act, and will act with force if she feels the need to in a given situation. This could be in battle or in life otherwise.
A listing of skills, such as horseback riding or cooking and abilities or magic. You can have a total of ten, but temper them to not be overly powerful - except one can be noticeably more powerful, usually the one skill/ability/magic/item that makes them recgonizable.
- Arcane Magic (Master): Ever since she was a young girl, she has been learning and using arcane magic in her life, even applying it to magitech as well. She can be considered a true "master" in several areas of Arcane Magic, specifically Evocation, Enchantment, Necromancy, Abjuration, and Transmutation. She has only moderate skill in Conjuration, minor skill in Illusion (mainly in just dispelling them at that, not in casting them), while possessing no skills at all in Divination and Illusion.
- Swordplay (Expert): Though not a master of the sword, she has expertise close to the level of mastery. This means someone like Morgan, who is a master of swords, would be able to beat her, though Nimue can still put up a very good fight for her level...offensively or defensively.
- First Aid (Expert): Due to having traveled a lot in her life, she has a high amount of skill in first aid, though she cannot be considered a "doctor" or a "surgeon" by any means.
- "Vergo Mateus": This spell of hers is a Conjuration spell recalling an item or thing she possesses to her hands or to her location in general. This includes her familiar.
- Aldebracht (Familiar): This dragon is her familiar, once being a great monster who ravaged parts of Camelot and threatened to kill more villages if not payed gold by the king. Nimue used her skills to bind and subdue this dragon, making it into her familiar as a mage. Aldebrecht is a "fell dragon", known for its dark power, great stature, and ebon-colored hide and ebon colored dragon breath of very intense heat. However, he is not exactly a small being, and most of the time he is too stubborn to shrink himself to fit the situation.
Being among the longest lived species of dragon that can easily live over 5,000 years, many have been killed off due to...rampaging, kidnapping women to care for them, and stealing hoards of gold. Yet even after over 6,000 years Aldebrecht is still alive and hiding out in a cave, likely taking an absurdly long nap. He has born many children in his time, but for the last 50 years has been taking quite the siesta. Of course he is still bound to Nimue, so using the above conjuration spell would still be able to call him over in an instant....even if he doesn't like being called over like that.
Then again, due to his size and might, unless size-altered by his own power beforehand he is not useful in every situation....especially if it involves being in smaller quarters like fighting within a building. That and he can at times be a stubborn, grumpy dragon, though he does have that soft spot for Nimue, being able to communicate with her mentally at any given time (two-way connection between them for instant mental communication).
Aldebrecht's Appearance: - Calibrann ["Caliburn"] (Artifact): This Artifact is a divinely crafted magical blade made by the god, Vis, under an alias to give to the ancestors of the Pendragon family. This ancient blade outdates even Nimue's own legend and the dragon Aldebrecht himself, but its craftsmanship is visibly overworldly and made from an unknown metal. Its blade is not normally glowing when sheathed, but when used the blade will glow with a radiant blue light.
Other than being an unbreakable and eternally sharp blade able to cut spirits and otherworldly beings, it was once a symbol of kings for the Pendragon family, and bears a unique "destructive power" if called upon for it. This "destructive power" is the sword's ability to fire great beams of accelerated magical energy capable of piercing and harming even spirits and otherwordly beings with ease, much less being able to wipe out buildings. However, this attack is powerful enough at base that its use is limited, though were one to face an army on an open field this would be absurdly useful in that case.
However, this highly destructive attack comes at a cost. It forces the blade to enter a mandatory "cooldown" period from using such a potent attack so it can regenerate its own reserves and such, which "cooldown" period usually spans a few hours at least to a few days at maximum depending on how power an attack was launched by the blade at the time.
Beyond that the blade seems suited to mages, being able to provide additional magical energy to the wielder if needed and acting as an immense but definitely not infinite replenishing reserve of magical energy in the process. Indeed, this sword's reserves were once attempted to be calculated by a wizard who wanted to examine Nimue's grave using magic, only for the wizard's brain to fry from the feedback from the sword.
Compared to the likes of Excalibur, this blade is more useful in large-scale battles and in magic usage, but lacks the same "mysterious magic" that Excalibur is able to wield.
Calibrann's Appearance: - "Enercio": A spell created from combining Transmutation and Necromancy, it is only able to be used on the bodies of living things. It is able to be used as a "pseudo surgical tool" by the wielder, and can be used for "healing" by transforming decaying tissues and damaged flesh into fresh tissues and flesh, or do things such as converting poison into harmless water in the body. However, if the target of this spell is not the mage who is casting it themselves, there is a chance the body of the target will either reject the tissues, or will not register the new tissues at all and cause the new tissues to rot and die off....or even turn a poison into a far more lethal toxin by mistake even. This spell was something Nimue created on her own, and is what was used to extend her life by a great deal of years more than the normal.
- "Windus Formanis": A spell of the Evocation that creates a small tornado. The more magical energy put into the spell, the larger the tornado can be. A relatively potent but simple spell that relies on magical power to determine its strength.
- "Gaiana Upsaris": A spell that molds earth or earthen substances into spikes quickly, aiming to stab enemies or other targets in the vicinity.
- "Magicu Missilu": The stereotypical "magic missile" spell for mages, it allow for the firing of projectiles of magical energy at targets, which can vary in size and shape depending on how much magical energy the wielder puts into this spell. Good for small or medium sized engagement due to its simplicity as a spell, and this is how all mages tend to use it. Save for Nimue, as if combined with a large reservoir of magical energy can put out large attacks that can be used against armies or armed squads of the "large" size category.
- "Lingwus": A general translation spell that allows the wielder to understand, speak, write, and read foreign languages. In other words, your average, magical translation spell for a mage on the run. Especially useful considering there are a lot of old heroes being brought back to life.
Backstory: The hero-mage Nimue is a figure in the history of the land of Camelot whose very legend is both her own and intertwined with those figures who she was around in life. Indeed, Nimue too was one of those heroes who as a bit of inhuman blood in her veins. You see, her great-grandmother was actually a resident fey of the heavenly-like realm of Avalon. An assistant to the queen of the land until she migrated to the human world to see what it was like, Nimue's great-grandmother eventually married a human she fell in love with and settled down with him. Thus was the origins of Nimue's bloodline, and her "fey" physical features she was born with.
Nimue herself, however, was born to her part-fey mother and a human father, who both worked for the king of Camelot: Uther Pendragon. Her father was working for the king as an engineer in charge of helping to maintain the castle and its fortifications, whilst her mother was a powerful mage who worked next to the king day and night as his Royal Advisor. Both jobs were important to the castle itself, and as such her parents both lived within the castle...albeit normally in separate quarters due to their differing jobs. This meant that Nimue herself lived in a part of the castle to be near her parents, sometimes with her mother and sometimes with her father, though never was around royalty as her mother was every day to her younger self's dismay.
The young girl dreamed of what it would be like to meet a king, a queen, or even a princess at that. However, she settled for learning magic from her mother, being a sort of prodigy in the art, and learned some about technology from her father. Yet when an accident left her father dead from a fall from the castle's walls, and herself without legs, the young girl combined her skills and proved to be as smart as other believed when she created a pair of enchanted magitech legs for herself so she could walk again. In fact, the legs themselves also allowed her to fly in the air with a sense of ease via a spell they were imbued with. Safe to say, this left quite an impression on her mother, though grieving at the time, and even the king when he noted her skills. This was such that she was lined up by request of the king to eventually take over her mother's position as Royal Advisor one day.
From here, however, unbeknownst to Nimue her mother began an affair with the king, as his own wife had died a time ago after giving birth to his beautiful daughter, and the kingdom's princess, Ovelia. Yet Nimue was still continually trained in magic by her mother, and in her own time spent effort creating magitech when she had the personal time. Yet even this new life with her father being gone would not last for as long as she would have hoped.
Eventually a witch named Mordred came to the kingdom and seduced Uther Pendragon, resulting in Nimue and her mother being locked away into the dungeon as a result along with the king's daughter and others. Here they toiled in the cruel conditions of the dank, dark depths of this forsaken place, until finally the door was once again opened for them. And who would be there to save them, but another hero whose story would become intertwined with that of Nimue herself: Morgan, the wielder of Excalibur.
It was at this time that Nimue felt her heart skip a beat, and a heat flush to her face upon looking at the savior of herself and so many others. She...fell for the strong beauty that was the hero Morgan, and these feelings would never cease after that time. However, her status in life would be elevated, when Nimue's own mother was married to Uther Pendragon after their release. And in the efforts to make his new wife and daughter "legitimate" members of the royal family, Uther granted each of them a present, a valuable item of the royal family that signified and cemented their new statuses as royalty. To Nimue's mother was granted a beautiful ruby amulet once owned by the former queen, enchanted to magnify the wielder's beauty. To Nimue herself, however...was granted Calibrann. Calibrann, also nicknamed "Caliburn" by some of the castle inhabitants, was a great magical sword, passed down through the Pendragon family line from ancient times, forged by the might and power of a god who had gifted the divine blade to Uther's ancestors as a boon. It was a sign of royalty in and of itself, an object that was legendary in its own right just from its age.
And indeed, the visibly un-ageing and immaculate sword would remain in Nimue's hands from that day forward, even as she went out to become a stronger mage and budding magitech engineer in her own right. Her exploits as the "Wandering Princess of Camelot" were legendary, from the slaying of a clan of man-eating giants, to the three separate instances where she killed dragons, and her skills as a magitech mage became even more famous than that when she built a flying airship for the kingdom that could move through the skies as gracefully as Nimue herself could with the power of her magitech legs. However, as she also became wrapped up in a great many of Morgan's own adventures as well, some of her exploits were at the time overshadowed by the more famous "Queen of Knights"....yet these things were recorded and indeed not forgotten in legends later on.
Yet Nimue's story was, inevitably, to bear tragedy continually. For after she had met Morgan, and fallen for her, she pined after and tried to genuinely gain the affections of this hero-knightess who had saved her in the past. How many a time she watched her from a window, or tried to find some manner to make her love for Morgan unrequited...but alas, it was all for naught. Morgan was wooed and romanced the king's birth daughter, Ovelia, some legends say it was the other way around, and eventually the two were married despite protests from the king's council. Indeed, as much as she cared about Morgan, as much as she had become close to her step sister Ovelia, her chance at love was dashed upon the rocks as her love became a "sister" and seemed to only treat her as a sibling in Nimue's eyes.
Even worse for Nimue's already tried and throbbing heart was when Morgan eventually died, sealing away a dark evil beast. Employing her magic, despite her broken heart, Nimue enhanced the seal and placed several more over it to help keep the beast locked away. She watched on as her step sister, whom she had to watch mourn at the funeral, began an relationship eventually with Uther's knight Lancelot before finally marrying him years after Morgan's death. Nimue would watch on as Lancelot and Ovelia bore a male child, with him being named "Morgan" after Ovelia's first and only wife. And to herself, Nimue vowed to help oversee the child's growth and learning, the least she felt she could do for "her" Morgan even after the end.
And so she helped raise this "Morgan" from a baby to a young lad, and from a young lad to a budding adult of 21 years of age. She tutored him in swordplay, a tiny bit in magic, and other general studies, even as Ovelia and Lancelot took the throne and insisted that Nimue did not have to go to such lengths for them and "Morgan". Yet while her intentions were good, Nimue's history of tragedy continued to build as her charge, this male "Morgan", fell in love with her over time. Indeed, the man who was the crown prince of Camelot had fallen for his seemingly age-less teacher, from her lovely chest to her beautiful eyes and her personality. Alas, she was treated as his aunt, and he was unable to marry her no matter how much his heart yearned for her dear warmth and company within his bedchambers and in his life as a whole.
So "Morgan" came up with a solution. Searching for another witch in the kingdom in secrecy, he gained from her a love potion for a price in gold. This potion was placed in the drink of Nimue when he invited her to a personal banquet held to "thank her" for her years of helping raise and teach him. One potion and a very long "one night stand" later, and this male "Morgan" fathered a child by Nimue whom she named "Galahad". This illegitimate child would be raised by his mother, Nimue, with love and advice gained from her many years of life, before eventually being adopted by his father formally as a prince of the kingdom. After this, unable to take the heartbreak any further, Nimue left the castle of Camelot and took to wandering the land, wielding Calibrann, magic, and her magitech in more adventures that would mark the late period of her life. Notably, she tamed a great fell dragon named "Aldebracht" and made him her familiar, and he would follow her the rest of her days in her adventures as well.
She would, however, always return to where Morgan had sealed the beast, ensuring it would never escape its cage again while she herself lived.
Eventually, tired of living this prolonged life via her magic and such, Nimue retired to a small town near the sea, near the place she knew was near the place "her" Morgan had been buried after having sought for it. Here she lived her last days, removing the enchantment that had prolonged her so, and dying after assisting the town in several ways, such as making an eternal, fresh water spring that would never run dry for them. Out of respect for her legends, for her service, and the tragedy she had seen in her life, the townsfolk buried her under a beautiful imported cherry tree in the town square. Since then, this tree has been kept alive as the ages have passed, and having been imbued with some of Nimue's magic it has become abnormally strong as a tree as well as gaining a few magical properties, even becoming sentient at that. It's fruit, so the legend goes, can heal many ailments, though beware if one were to attack or try to kill it....for a tree like it can defend itself and will do so if attacked.
But now, with the revival of so many heroes that lived in days of yore, Nimue, the Archmage, Magitch Engineer Extraordinaire, Wielder of the Legendary Sword Calibrann, and former royalty of Camelot's lands....has also arisen once more. It is also said that her dragon, who hid away after her death, might arise as well in this case...
Myth: Nimue is said to have been a mage of mysterious background and immaculate talent, who gained the blade Calibrann from the king as a gift for saving him from a great illness and bearing him a child. She is famous for chasing off a great dragon named "Aldebrecht" who had been terrorizing part of the Kingdom, and killing at least one other dragon in her travel about the kingdom. This wanderer eventually became a companion of the infamous hero of Camelot, Morgan, and helping both Morgan and Ovelia find and slay a terrible dragon. Morgan was terribly wounded in the process, before being sent off to Avalon, whilst Nimue herself as a great mage stood guard over the seal of the shadow beast that Morgan had locked away using Excalibur.
Other myths about her around where she was born tell of her bearing a child to a later king, and that her bloodline is still within the royalty of the kingdom today. This is also a legend that the royalty of Camelot have held onto, mainly because they have hidden records to show that it is indeed true that they are descendants of Nimue herself.

Theme Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZS_pqPYjcMAnything Else: She is actually the one who helped Aldebrecht find his first mate. True story. Embarassing for Aldebrecht, admittedly, but at the time she even admitted that 'dragon romance is a very,
very strange thing to learn about'.
