I never write unless I feel like writing, or if I've promised to write something (which is rare) by a certain time. When writing becomes an obligation, there's no fun in it. And if there's no fun, what's the point?

I see these statuses in the sidebar talking about how their RP partners are lurking and spamming the OOC forums, but not writing posts. Like, who do you think you are? Are they required to devote every second to you? If they have a modicum of free time, MUST they do it writing posts to you instead of chilling out and relaxing? It's a lot easier to spam funny memes then to dig in creatively to write some post for some demanding jerk.

Go to hell. If I'm on the site, I'll do whatever I please. And if you get a post from me, you should be delighted, not placated.

(Disclaimer: This is not in relation to any RP I'm currently doing, I don't feel pressured, this is just my violent reaction to status bar messages and my RP partners of yesteryear who can totally go to hell.)

I simply cannot hover over an IC thread making continuous responses :p my roleplaying mode is very, very different from IC mode, and it takes a small union of circumstances for me to be "into it" at a given time. + life affairs, whichever ones are relevant at the moment.

Part of why I don't like chat roleplays, and especially lower end roleplays with several players where some just barge by because you took 5 minutes to make a post. Like, what the fuck?

I feel your pain. I tend to get bursts of inspiration late at night. It'll be 11:30, I'm about to go to sleep, and then a great idea pops into my mind. Either I ignore it and the steam is gone the next morning, or I spend two hours writing in the middle of the night and I'm a wreck the next morning. There's no winning.

Maybe I'm a were-author. Inspired writer by night, incompetent scrub by day.

I always get my inspiration while I'm teaching. Something a student does or says, or the material, makes me think of a really great scene. And then I'm stranded there, because I can't very well say "alright kids, work on your own while I start writing a post." Then after school, I'm too tired to actually write. It's a shame.

It's 2017. Work at many schools or one of the vast majority of colleges in America, and you can do just that. :p

'twould be a rare sight, and gratz if you are competent :p I've met a couple teachers in the past few years who are mind-numbingly ignorant.

This is kinda personal thing and doesn't really have any basis in sense, but for some reason I just cannot stand people that only ever join their own RPs, never going into anybody else's. I don't know why, but it drives me nuts.

On the opposite coin, I have been RPing for 16 years. I have already been through the phases

-First phase you start a fandom RP, Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, Yugioh
and while I enjoy those RPs, I don't want them to be the only RP I ever experience

-Then you do a school based RP, often an academy with something mysterious to it

-Then you join someone's Original RP

-Then you create your own Original RPs

I just like different stories. I don't want to always be in a fandom RP or always in a school RP. And I don't always want to be in a fantasy world RP either with trolls, elves, and stuff.

I want a RP that's creative. Story driven. Unique. Now I am not saying that all of my RPs are original or that I am better than everyone else.

But I am simply not interested in the ideas I have heard before.

I am a creative person and I have a passion of telling stories. So I have a ton of ideas for RPs in my head. I don't necessarily always have a character in mind for other people's RPs. Because I in RL I am an author and write my own novels. And online I write RPs. So I have done a lot of characters. A lot. It becomes difficult then to ask yourself "what haven't I done". Because I have done a lot. There hasn't been something I haven't tried before.

TFW someone starts an RP painfully similar to yours, gets triple the players, and kills your confidence as a GM.

What's up with the majority of new/rarely seen people on the Guild (old account, low post count) becoming self-entitled bastard GMs, and very incompetent ones to boot?

I mean, being a serious/harsh GM is one thing, being a downright idiot who has no respect for anyone/doesn't understand how forum RPing normally works is a completely different story. The worst part is that the Guild is full of them these last few months. I may not be particularly acquainted with some of the older members around here, thanks to my own preferences and style, but at least I feel that there's a sense of respect between the veterans.

These new kids, they just suck...

Maybe because standards and expectations don't change? Maybe that's how they always GM on every website?

That's asinine. Standards and expectations are intended to change per website based on what the users of the website have laid out the rules as, otherwise they'd congregate on a single platform with uniform standards. You can't steamroll every corner of the internet to lofty or guttural standards, though if one were such as to roam from sight to sight doing so, they clearly are unsatisfied with what they are doing and should reconsider their approach before someone is obliged to explain the definition of Madness to them.

Expecting legible grammar? Yeah, that's fine to hold as a universal standard. But beyond that it's all fair game and a matter of the grounds you go stomping over.

While I agree on a technical standpoint. I am also on the spectrum. I have a greater difficult time changing and adapting as others do. And when there is one incident that happens, even on a new website, I tend to close off and become more rigid because I tried to be flexible and members steamrolled over me.

I have certain expectations and those don't change because of the website. But those expectations are not personal expectations. They are technical. How the sheet is written. How the character comes across. How much effort or how much was read of the OCC. How much understanding of the information is laid out. I don't think that changes from website to website. As those are good fundamentals of RPing and writing in general.

I enjoy my roleplay. I really do. But I'd like to take my mind off it and get the creativity flowing in another realm. Unfortunately I can't find a good 1x1 partner, most roleplay are not introspective enough for me to join. As I can't roleplay just to do it. I use roleplay to improve my story telling not to be in a story. Unfortunately even the few roleplay I have joined are fucking dead. It's like I'm the only GM I can find who takes his roleplay with a modicum of significance.

Those RPs, oh-so-common, that have their GM leave without saying a damn thing. Goddamn.
