@Red Alice

you mention in the initial post allying a weak char with a faction that gives them upgrades, is it possible to take this a bit further and combined 2 factions together in a similar manner? My idea was to combined the Allies from red alert with over-watch, mainly to add more hero chars to the former and a supporting military force to the latter. They have the same slightly kooky future tech style going on so I think they mesh pretty well.

Well someone already claimed the GDI from C&C and they thematically are quite similiar, along with sharing a universe(though it diverges) so I would discuss that with Frater Jeremiah over PMs or here. Allying with other factions/players was more or less to create cool new ideas. Such as, for example, Admech and GDI allying which could yield really interesting results(As a simple example).

However either faction is definitely fine on its own.

You are Approved.

Threat Rating 2, with no PP.

@DracoLunaris Um, the concern about Overwatch not having backup military forces is misplaced. Overwatch had plenty of ground forces, that aren't heroes in your definition. They had a full conventional military, including an air force.

Problem is there's not that much info on it, so writing a proper battle, even as the background, would be a little tricky, without knowing what the actual composition of their forces are and how they would deal with stuff like, say, Mammoth Tanks or whatever.

I'll see if i can think of something else in the mean time, maybe aim to be the first threat 3 char so all those PP aren't pointless

We already have a lot of high powered characters. What we lack is mid or low powered factions, around Overwatch level.

Well, The Warriors Orochi series is an example of mid level characters and high powered factions. I'm interested in something like that.

Its interesting. For example, the GDI being played by our good friend Frater Jeremiah has quite strong faction features, but their leaders are actually more or less just normal humans.

@Black Alice

a threat 3 char is described as:

Dangerous beyond the material level. At this rating, they are considered to be equivalent to a nuke in threat, though not necessarily destructive force. In otherwords, a living WMD that can potentially equal biological or nuclear weapons(and worse things). God level characters are designated threat level 3 automatically. Any fight against them without super weapons, WMDs, or other Threat 3 characters is a fight without chance of victory.

as of yet non of the submitted chars are that scale

I'll probably end up making an alchemist belonging to a fantasy world faction in a verge of alchemy revolution. No magic and non-human races, just alchemy.

Um, so I actually don't know if this was why the GM attached this threat level, but consider for a moment our resident Sith Lord.

He's Threat 2. Soak that in for a moment. This is a character who can drain planets of ALL LIFE. He can mind control entire populaces, and block light sabers with his bare hands. Force Lightning is incredibly strong, able to one-shot most characters that don't have special forms of resilience.

So, here's my interpretation: He is a Threat Level 3 character, being nerfed by circumstance into a Threat 2 (much like whats going to be happening with my leader).

The ONLY reason the Sith guy isn't a Threat Level 3, God-tier threat, is because of one simple fact. This isn't the star wars universe, therefore the force isn't omnipresent. Many signature force powers can't be used, because the force doesn't really exist outside of his body.

It has been approximately one month since the mass abduction. Only a fraction of the original people and organizations remain. The titanic clashes that characterized the first week after the spiriting completely wiped out nearly 3/4ths of all those who originally arrived. The remaining abductees and factions have licked their wounds and have gotten their initial bearings on this new world.

Oh boy, what are these clashes? My faction is small and isn't exactly fighter types. And 75% mortality rate?

No worries. There were roughly 75% causalities, but it's possible for a faction to completely avoid the fighting by circumstance or chance. In otherwords, your entire faction could be within the 25% of survivors.

There'll be a "starting situation" in the faction sheet dealing with this, but that sheet will come out with the OOC.

I'm a bit confused how the factions work. AT first I thought it was going to be that there would be a single faction for each alignment, and the characters would just fall under the faction with their own alignment but there are multiple factions with the same alignments. So, does that mean everyone's going to be from their own alignment, or are there just going to be a bunch of factions... Which would make things kind of messy, right?........

(I'm sorry if I'm missing something obvious. I've been up since five AM, it's 11:12 pm now, and had my first full shift in three months so I'm a bit out of it.)

There'll be as many factions as people apply. They aren't limited to one faction per alignment, that's just a quick way to see if they're people your character(or faction) may want to deal with.

There'll be a lot of factions fighting and dealing with each other, but if you just want to play a Hero that won't affect you much. The point of factions as a whole is to give a good framework for you to participate in the RP with. This is a big theme in the opening post guides.

For example(Not a prediction)- Lets say the Sith Empire declares war on basically everyone. A coalition of good-aligned factions form a last alliance to stop the Sith Empire from gaining enough Nodes to drain the lifeforce of everyone on the planetoid. Your character can totally participate on either side of the conflict or forge their own path within it. Or you could totally ignore that and worry about a new asteroid that somehow entered the stations orbit with buildings on it. What could be in there? Characters are lining up to explore it, and you can participate in that.

That's a good example of what I intended to do with this roleplay. If you apply a character, you can totally just tunnel vision whatever you want to participate in and enjoy that.

Leader: King Ancent The Fourth
Faction Name: The Kingdom of Ancent
Alignment: Neutral Good
Universe of Origin: The Fantasy Land of Marchen
Their original world had roughly a late medieval era level of technology and culture, but with magical tools and objects created by alchemy that greatly helped the populace. So instead of the industrial revolution happening, an alchemical revolution happened instead, thanks to the efforts of a certain genius alchemist who helped with the development of the kingdom.

Other than alchemy, the kingdom only had soldiers and adventurers with no magicians amongst them. But some of them do have superhuman feats of strength, especially if their equipment is enhanced even more via alchemy.

It's interesting, but I'm not sure I'm up for controlling an entire faction. Though I do greatly enjoy Raynor's Raiders from Starcraft...hmmmm. I'll see what I decide. Great concept though mate.

@Red Alice I don't feel it's likely that anyone else would be using my chosen faction, but I'm throwing out my claim for the sake of the record.
