Eientei

The long haired girl dipped the brush in the ink, before carefully writing on the large sheet of paper before her.

Her elegant brushwork did not stop even as one of the sliding doors opened and closed. Eirin sat a respectable distance away, waiting for the princess to turn to her. For a while there was nothing but silence and the sound of the brush moving across the paper, before Princess Kaguya finally set down the brush and turned to Eirin.

"What did you think of them?"

"Rude, uncivilized and brash, Princess." Eirin replied, bowing slightly.

"I see." The princess picked up the brush again, dipping it slowly into the inkwell. "Then?"

"Yes?"

"Why have you written an accord even so?" Kaguya moved the brush in a broad controlled stroke, frowning slightly before continuing. "The Eirin that I knew would not have suffered fools lightly."

Silence once again, stretching out for what seemed like an eternity, before Eirin finally answered. "I have come to realize the inevitable. Of what those soldiers are, what they represent, and what they mean to our existence."

Sighing, Eirin finally gave in to curiosity and asked. "Princess, what are you doing?"

"Ah, this?" Kaguya held up the paper, bold characters written upon it. "I've been thinking of holding another exhibition for our collection. What do you think?"

"I... do not think many would show up. We are not in Gensokyo after all."

"Is that so?" Kaguya seemed to ponder that for a moment. "What are the Inaba doing?"

"They're having a Lunar Festival. We had not any moon for quite some time now after all."

"Then, shall we join them?" Kaguya stood up, dusting off her clothes as she did so.

Outside the mansion, the rowdy bunch of rabbits pounding mochi, feasting and drinking was already well into their revelry. Burst of colorful lights, and pellets flew around the air in intricate patterns, looking very much like a fireworks display. If fireworks had two people flying about dueling each other that was. A typical danmaku duel, where the patterns and being flashy mattered more than simply shooting people out of the sky. They didn't need such slow moving bullets and elaborate patterns if they really wanted to kill each other after all.

Flying directly into a pellet, Tewi flinched as it hit her, leading to an entire barrage of pellets smacking into her directly. Dizzied, she crumpled into a heap by a group of rabbits, more due to all the sake she drank than the pellets hitting her. Even Reisen was flying in a slightly uneven pattern.

Now joined by Eirin and the Princess, as well as a fresh batch of alcohol and food, it did not seem like the party would stop any time soon.

Drok'Rah moved to each of the designated locations his Queen had ordered him to. Leaving a Small group of Warriors at each point, accompanied by a trio of Lictors for scouting, and a rabble of Termagants for support. After each team was set up, a few dozen Rippers were sent out to begin their biomass collection. 'Rah had never seen a world before and this one was a special one to be introduced to. So many different Biomes were so near each other. The transition was uncanny, almost entirely fake. While his kin knew nothing else but to feast, he found beauty in the World. He would be sad to see it be turned to a empty shell, but it just meant he could see more worlds in the future.

Sadly, this world's inhabitants were hard to break down in the Digestion pools. Providing less than half of the Biomass most organisms can can provide. The Queen of course couldn't had known this. It was her first time ever actually controlling the Hive itself with out the Hive mind for guidance. She was making her own decisions now. She had destroyed many worlds before she had turned to this one and remembered them quite clearly. Only hoping her lack of true experience leading wouldn't be the end for Her and her children.

Once each of the 'camps' had been established for scouting, the Queen did something very risky. Birthing every single last children she controlled, the Brood nests popping open with acidic goop. Dropping the sleeping Tyranids to the floor. In less than an hour they were all organized so that each of her few warriors maintained proper synapse with the smaller forms. She sent them off to a Dark treacherous land. Anything One hundred meters out was invisible to the naked eye as a thick Fog laid on top of the wet soil and the shallow murky water. It mattered little to the Swarm. The wildlife could be heard all around, mostly insect and frog like creatures producing noises for mating. Soon only a still quiet shall remain. Cypress trees sprouted out high, carrying multiple Birds of prey species. It was all for the taking.

Drok'Rah was at the forefront of the Invasion of these wet lands. Gargoyles flew into the sky, massacring all other flying animals and Avians with deadly proficiency. Letting their corpses fall from the tall Trees the were once their breeding grounds. Hormagaunts slashed and tore everything and anything that came to their path. From large reptilian beasts, to Giant four legged mammals. While the swarm was just a shadow of it's possible strength, all unintelligent life was just an open buffet to them. Hundreds of Rippers were at the most back of the Invasion. Some of them eating the carcasses of the Animals that were already Slain by the frontal forces. Others Rippers were mutated with a Proboscis to drain the hundreds of Pools of dark water that made up the land, not only for the consumption of the water but the millions of insects and microscopic organisms that inhabited them. Nothing was spared or wasted. All would be consumed.

It only took them several hours to clear out most of the Swamp's life. While the Dominatrix was more than happy with the results, there was still so much more to do. This was just the very beginning until they can establish a connection with the Hive Mind. She wasn't sure what was the true next step. Only that another node must be captured...

A VOLCANIC MEETING

(GALACTIC EMPIRE X TERRAN RAIDERS X DUMMY SQUAD)

As the Scout Troopers began to get closer to the droids, they suddenly see three other armored soldiers coming from the opposite side of the canyon. Falon squints to make out the armored men, only to recognize that they weren't one of them. He can also hear them warn both the droids and to them from a distance, requesting their identification and that they were under the territory of the 'Terran Dominion'.

"Blast..." he sighs as he lowers his blaster, "Looks like we weren't the only ones interested in the commotion."

"I'll get em'" Hunter raises his carbine almost as if he's going to fire, only for the barrel of his gun to be shoved down by his partner's hand rapidly.

"No! Hold your fire!" Falon hisses as he looks at Hunter dead in the eyes, "Do you want to get yourself killed?! We don't know what these guys can do. Let's be professional about this and not stir up any trouble."

It was just then when the other armored men began repeating their warning. Hunter obliges Falon's request with a nod and lowers his weapon. The former slowly raises his left hand up to identify themselves as not a threat.

"Don't shoot, we're friendly." he calls out to the Terran Marines, "We're from another faction that just so happened to be scouting here. We mean nobody here harm."

The CPU was rather surprised by the sudden appearance of two more armored humanoids who had, it appeared, made use of camouflage to sneak up on them. This was rather rare where it came from to make use of camouflage as it was bad for business. When someone uses your products to take control of an area you want their defeated adversaries to know what company had manufactured the victors army, thus convincing them to buy it too for their next endeavor. The manufacturer of the scouting party, with their use of bright blue on the armor of it’s units and it’s emblem clearly printed on their shoulder pads, clearly understood this marketing strategy.

The CPU was rather pleased that everybody’s first reaction had not been to start a firefight and so stopped its 7 Dummies where they were, as instructed by the Raynor's Raiders’ soldier, which ended up being about halfway between the node and the basin’s walls. After a few moments it remembered to make the Diplomacy Dummy stop waving as well.

”relieved: It is good to see there is someone on this anomalous station that is willing to talk. I am the CEO of Dummy Tech and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. ”

The CPU was rather perturbed that it could find no mention of this Terran Dominion on the databanks of the Tradstar it’s node was linked to. The fact that something that could speak english(and therefore presumably had some interaction with humanity) had slipped by humanities obsessive archiving of everything struck it as rather odd.

Harold kept his aim steady, focusing on the one who had identified himself as the CEO of some company called Dummy Tech while the Ghost, unseen due to his cloak, kep his rifle on the pair of armored humans. "Alright, both parties have stopped, but the armored pair avoided the question. What's your thoughts?" Silence initially greeted the marine while the Ghost debated on how to approach the situation. On the one hand, neither of these groups was wearing anything that was remotely familiar to the group, marking them as obvious potential hostiles. But on the other hand, no one had shot at them yet, so he didn't want to anger the Commander by just opening fire on the pair. Finally, he sent a response to the designated spokesman.

"Wave the bots over, but ask the two men for who they're with again. If we're going to end up fighting with their faction later, at least we'll know who we're killing ahead of time." Transmitting an affirmative, Harold carefully stepped over the sandbags and pointed at the group of bots before turning his loud speakers on again.

"Alright, mister CEO, you and yours have permission to approach. Any sign of hostility, however, will be met with lethal force," he then pointed at the two men and continued speaking, "But you two need to ID yourselves or vacat the area now. Some of my boys have itchy trigger fingers and are awefully bored."

The Scout Troopers paused as soon as the Terrans pointed at the two. Ah of course they wanted to know where they were from. It would be easy to identify themselves as part of the "Galactic Imperial Empire", but judging by these guys, they may take their whole "Empire" thing a little too hostile anyways. Hunter slightly turns his head at Falon for orders.

"We can't just tell them we are part of the Empire...'" he suggests nervously while whispering, "What if they take us too~"

"We won't." Falon replies quickly, "Just follow with what I have in mind...

With that said, he replies to the Marine's question.

"We're from the Galactic Republic." Falon replies with a confident tone, "We're scout troopers."

He points behind him in the direction they came.

"We've just parked our speeders outside the basin wall. We're only scouting out the land, nothing more.... we just so happened to be attracted by the 'Dummies'."

Hunter nods in confirmation with Falon's explanation.

”Your terms are acceptable.”

The Dummy squad then resumed their approach, The CPU lowering the volume on the speakers in preparation. What became abundantly clear as it got closer was that the rather featureless basin it had misjudged the scale of the Raiders, as it’s robots had to look up at the bulkily armored warriors. Getting a better look at the symbols on them wasn’t helping it’s data search, nor was the fact that the Galactic Republic the scout troopers belonged to wasn’t showing up either.

The talking Dummy joined the marines down near the node, while the escorts stayed a little way back, their weapons held nonthreatening at their sides. Having exhausted readily available and affordable data archives the CPU decided to simply air it’s confusion in an attempt to gather data which it could use/sell.

”I don't mean offence, but I have not heard of either of your groups before, nor can I find any reference to them in the readily available data I have from the Tradestar I was operating out of befor I was sent here. This strikes me as odd, particular how a ‘galactic republic’ could be missed. It would help to know what species are you both and from where in space you originate?”

Harold narrows his eyes at the scouts and radios the Ghost. "Thoughts?" Once more there's no immediate response from the Ghost, and the two Scouts fell a tingle down their spines as the Ghost probes their minds lightly. The sensation is faint and gone almost immediately as he pulls his mind from theirs.

"They're lying about who they're with, but only out of fear of misinterpretation. Let 'em over." Sighing, the marine waves them over and the Ghost disembarks from his sniper perch, reaching the camp's edge where the Dummy CEO and two Scouts were being kept. As he approached, his helmet opened up at the face to reveal a young man, no older than 25, with blonde hair and azure colored eyes. His gaze is even and behind it lays a coldness that only a hardened war veteran normally has. His arrival is timed well with the Dummy's question and a rather quizzical look from Sergeant Harold, who's faceplate remains down, like all his marines.

"That's likely because your humans never have met us and, for their sake, never will. Our exact place of origin is not something we're at liberty to share. And we're Terran, or human, just born away from Earth is all. Now who are you and what are you doing here?"

The Scout Troopers seemed confused at this whole 'being from Earth'. Afterall, their galaxy doesn't have such a planet called Earth, yet these people are human, just like them. Falon looks at the young ghost-trooper through his helmet before unhinging his faceplate and revealing a slightly older man, perhaps in his early thirties, with deep brown eyes and a scar on his left cheek, which comes from under his eye to near the mouth. His hair cannot be seen due to the black jumpsuit covering his head, only revealing the front face from the lips to the middle of his forehead. He has a very grizzled look to him, showing that he's been through some reasonable shit, even as a measly scout. He looks to Hunter and jerks his head up, signalling him to open his face plate. Hunter does this, revealing a younger tanned individual, perhaps in his early 20s, who also happened to be blonde, yet had green eyes instead of blue. He looks way more innocent compared to Falon, due to him being a newish recruit. Falon continues eying the ghost straight in the eyes.

"Like I said," he states, showing no fear as he looks at him, "We are from the Galactic Republic. We've arrived here after a hyperspace malfunction warped us to this universe, yet recently found a way to get back to our own galaxy. We too also have an origin point that we cannot reveal under the Chancellor's orders."

He pauses as he points back to the basin again.

"Our speeder bikes are parked over the edge of the basin." he repeats again, "We were tasked in surveying the nearby land. We found this volcano, scaled up it, and found these droids. We had no idea we were coming into your territory but regardless we mean no trouble. I assume you have trust issues... can't say I blame you really, but if we were hostile we would've shot you on site or ran to our bikes to call for back up. Yet we stayed here. Don't worry though, we'll be out of here once we figure out what's going on in this basin. I suggest we don't get into bad contact with one another in the meantime. Do I make myself clear, sir?"

The CPU was not unsurprised to find Human faces under the helmets, the human body was a somewhat standard template for clones these days, but what they spoke of was confusing. The Terrans might have been some long lost human sleeper colony ship, but basicly everything the scout said was utterly bemusing. It also felt a little left out as it had no helmet to dramaticly remove, so instead the blank faced Dummy simply stood awkwardly between the two humans, utterly expressionless.

”This... Universe?”

The CPU decided it was perhaps best to soldier on with what it had originally come here to do, namely establish peaceful, mutually beneficial diplomatic relations, something which the two sets of armored humans seemed to be doing their best to avoid with their somewhat antagonistic tones and militaristic demeanor. Part of the CPU's consciousness was cornering onto the fact that these pupets where acting more animated than was to be expected, but took this to mean that perhaps they where being remotly piloted by multipul people. The concept of sentients actually fighting wars was archaic and foreign to its experiences.

”What I am here on the Array for is to research it’s tecnology. For example, whatever powers that.” The Dummy points at the Array ”Could bring me great wealth back” the CPU paused in its typing and searched for the right words, then simply adopted the Scout’s terminology ”in my galaxy”

”What I am doing here specifically is scouting, with the intention of finding amicable groups like yourselfs with which to engage in mutually beneficial relations. Namely, I wish to establish some clearly defined regions of territory and clear lines of communication between us so that events like this whole blundering in unannounced into what you consider yours situation does not happen again. Also to facilitate trade, either with you or with other groups beyond your land.”

The Ghost's gaze hardened when the scout ended his sentence the way he did, and his let hand tightened slightly around the grip of his C20A Canister Rifle. "Just remember that good First Contact isn't my concern, and ensuring the safety of these men is." He then turned to listen to the robot, frowning when it mentions wanting to research it's technology for taking back to it's own universe. While the Opertive knew that Stetmann, the Raiders' head scientist, found the nodes fascinating, he had no desire to risk letting the Zerg, even if they did have some kind of peace treaty in place, getting their claws on it and using it to consume the whole of the Koprulu Sector.

Allowing the bot to finish, he glances at Harold, who very subtlely shakes his head against the notion of trade, he goes into his own monologue of sorts. "Trade is of no interest to us. Commander Raynor knows the tech we field and trusts it completely, as do we. We also have no desire to hand off any of our tech to anyone. Communication is likely to also be a no go, at least for the time being due to various security reasons, but I will inform you we've got patrols all across the desert on the other side of the river, along with various outposts. So just skirt that side of the river, and I imagine you'll be left alone. I'll formalize the arrangement with the Commander on our next check in. As for others beyond us, you're the first groups we've seen since the original battle upon our initial arrival."

Falon's face still stood still and unmoving after hearing that reason. Again, he couldn't blame him for that either. He's seen many of his fellow comrades and friends die back in his galaxy... Where the empire is fighting the Rebeliion. One of his long time friends from military school got blown up by a terrorist mine on Jedha as they were patroling the city. Debris shot out everywhere from every direction, yet from the rubble did only Falon survive. His friend had perished, with debris stuck in his chest, with evern a leg being missing. It was a brutal sight to behold. He also had another friend that was shot during a skirmish on Lothal just a few years prior, and a bunch of his friends and fellow colleagues were vaporized during the destruction of the Death Star over the gas giant Yavin and it's moon Yavin 4. There were probably others who perished in battles abroad, but he either never heard of them or wasn't necessarily close. Regardless, he knew how it felt to loose good men. He was no commander, but he definitely knew the feeling all right.

The droid began to explain his situation here as wanting to trade and research for technology, as well as scouting. He also had valid points in avoiding situations like this in not happening again. Overall, he was a nice droid. Looks like the Terrans didn't agree to this trading deal, but allowed them to have territory on the otherside of the river as long as they didn't cross their boarders. Furthermore, they also explained that they were the first groups since the original battle upon their arrival. The Scout Troopers hadn't heard about this battle, mostly because the Empire was still in deep space during the first week. Regardless, it seemed surprising to see that they've been here rather recently, or so it's highly presumed. Falon simply nods his head.

"Likewise." he replies to the ghost, "We'll be sure to keep that in mind."

He then looks over to the bot.

"I'm interested at what you offer, CEO." he says curiously, "The Republic may have an interest in what you are selling."

If the CPU could frown it would have, getting almost anything out of this the terran was proving frustratingly difficult, displaying a high level of insularism and paranoia. It wondered what had burned them in the past to leave them like this. Space was certainly full of strange and hostile dangers, perhaps they came from a region infested with threats like space amoebas or other hostile lifeforms. The formerly earth based humans from which were part of the Orion Spur Amalgam, from which the CPU itself had emerged, had been rather fortunate in that their immediate contact with alien life had at worst only resulted in a rather unappealing nickname from a fuingoid species that means something along the lines of "How is this thing even relevant?", with undertones of indifference and confusion. It was only after the invention of the TradStar and subsequent corparate domination of locla polatics brought humanity to importance within the Amalgam that more hostile entities had been encountered. Perhaps if the humans that had accidentaly made it had immediately encountered something like The Xenophobic Silicone Alliance then their outlook would be similar to these Terrans.

At least it knew now that the desert across the river was not a viable place to look for customers. It took a few moments to reroute it’s scouting parties up to the central ocean in order to skirt past the desert region entirely, in order to check out areas further north instead.

”I appreciate what information and assistance you have given me. I shall restrict my operations to outside your desert regions across the river. If you are not willing to engage in long range communication I shall leave these units nearby incase your commander wishes to speak during your check-in”

The dummy then turned its attention to the Scout and retrieved small tablet from it’s hip which operated similarly to a 21st century design only it’s casing was garish orange and it could be operated without skin contact, a vital trait when you're using robots or meat puppets wearing gloves to operate it. The tablet display a shopping catalog as well as a list of services (as shown in the 0-th post and the faction sheet). The Diplomacy Dummy offered this to the closest scout trooper.

”excellent. I offer a number of goods and services that might interest your group. Might I ask where, generally, you consider your operational area? I assume further west? I am operating out of the lightly forested and desert areas just to the west of here”

If the others were not giving exact locations of it’s headquarters it did not feel like it needed to either.

As the scout and the Dummy begin to speak, the Ghost opens his mouth to ask them to leave. But before he can say anything, the sound of a trio of Hercules dropships coming in can be heard approaching and his helmet seals shut as he once more turns his attention to the two groups. "I appreciate your lack of hostility, but I must ask you to vacat the area if your business here is concluded. We've got an outpost perimeter to set up and you're just going to be in the way." With that, he about-faces and heads back towards the lab equipment around the Node, looking for the man who was in charge of the eggheads while Harold turned back to the two groups.

"Right, well, he's the CO here, so I'll reinforce what he said. Appreciate not trying to kill us, yada, yada, yada, get going. You know where to avoid and where we don't care. Hope something doesn't eat you." He then turns and starts barking orders to the other marines and the marauders as the Hellbats begin making rounds along the perimeter again, the former two splitting into two groups, one starting to clear the sandbags away and the other, which was where all but two of the marauders were, also making rounds along the perimeter once more, with one potentially glaring at the two groups without moving, meaning he was to make sure they left.

Before Falon had the chance to speak towards the dummy, he hears reinforcements came to the Terran's relief which would already force them to leave. With a light nod, almost without anything else to say, he lowers his face mask begins walking out of the area and heads back to the bikes. However while he left, Hunter stayed behind for only a bit to fill in the dummy on some much needed information.

"We're uh... by the riverlands to the northwest." he whispers to them, "Literally connected to the savannah and the light woods. It's not too far of a hike but I suggest you stay a bit by the savannah. We'll take a look at them there."

With that, Hunter begins catching up with Falon as they head to their bikes. They slowly disappeared behind the basin and began hopping on the speeder bikes.

"Well those Marines were fun to deal with..." he replies as he grips the handle bars, "You think it would've mattered if we said we were an Empire instead of the Republic? I mean what if the dummies~"

"It doesn't matter. replies Falon as he revs up the engine, "The dummies will have to wait. Let's just report this back to the officer and take it from there."

Hunter agrees as the two began zooming down the mountain and back to base.

The CPU sighed internally at the Terran's continued abrasiveness and then also took its leave. It sent it’s 7 Dummy squad back up the sides of the basin to join the main force, and then sent them all back down to the craft. Instead of returning home however it instead sent the group only a short way away into the nearby woods, where they quickly dug a small hidden observation outpost to watch for whether it’s new neighbors decided to come further west.

GENESIS OF THE DALEKS

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

The howling, frozen winds of the northern glaciers at the dawn of a new day. The Daleks have finally finished the cloning facility, including the necessary equipment that will create new Dalek casings. Four cloning vats remained empty, but not for long, their gene extrapolators stand ready, awaiting Dalek DNA. Dalek Sec, Dalek Caan, Dalek Thay, and Dalek Jast took turns opening their casings, exposing themselves to the extrapolator needle. The design of the device was new, but the concept remained the same. The other Daleks operated the machine, and the Dalek being cloned would stay in front of the Gene extrapolator. Once their genes are extrapolated, they would be processed, analyzed, split apart, and arranged into haploid and diploid cells, allowing for a genotypically and phenotypically different organism; the organism being cloned is genealogically speaking, both biological mother, and biological father of the clone.

At this point, all but one of the Daleks have been extrapolated, “Dalek Sec, you are the last to be cloned, long live the Daleks!” Dalek Thay shouted in praise. The Daleks’ domed head rotated their eyestalks, whirring as they go, fixating their gaze on their new Dalek Supreme.

Dalek Sec hovered over towards the extrapolator station of the cloning facility. New Dalek casings components were strewn about on the walls, awaiting to encase a new being born of hate. Dalek Caan shouted a status report, “Gene Extrapolation in thirty rels!” Dalek Sec opened the top half of his casing, a hiss of hot air, a mixture of gasses from both the reactor exhaust and the different machine cooling systems escaped out the different gaps as the Dalek shell opened itself. ”Gene extrapolation in fifteen rels!” Dalek Caan continued.

The cloning vats were filled with a protein soup generated from the megastructure, sufficient enough in feeding the newly spawned Kaled mutants. The Daleks have a mostly protein based diet, nothing else, other nutrients aren’t needed for their development, this is why when other civilizations crumble under Dalek supremacy, they usually also end up as a food source, this was however a secondary need; a Dalek within its casing would not need to eat, its vitals sustained by the life support system until it can find a viable food source. A soldier that didn't need to eat, sleep, or drink, it was an efficient design.

Dalek Caan began to count down, ”Gene extrapolation, in ten rels, nine, eight, seven…” and continued, all the while the extrapolator’s thin needle drew closer to Sec’s unprotected, mutated body until finally, ”One! Beginning gene extrapolation procedure!. Dalek Sec chanted repeatedly, increasing in intensity, almost screaming, ”The Daleks, survive through me! The Daleks survive, through me! THE DALEKS SURVIVE, THROUGH MEEEEE!!! The sharp needle pierced the flesh, drawing in different samples from all over the Kaled body. ”Extrapolating cells! Gene sequences being isolated! Cloning process, beginning!” The Cult of Skaro monitored the procedure and made sure that everything was working as designed.

”Witness the Genesis of the Daleks! The Daleks. Will. SURVIIIIVE! The Cult of Skaro watched, as their supreme was tortured by the painful procedure. The extrapolator needed a sample of every cell in Sec’s body, the needle would come out after taking one sample, then move towards another part of his body and insert itself, the samples themselves were the size of a thumbnail. The pained screams of a Dalek echoed throughout their base and out into the frozen wastes, Dalek Jast quickly cited ”Dalek Sec’s vitals are weakening! He may not survive the procedure!” Dalek Thay was not so quick to worry, to him the Dalek future was secure, having calculated that Sec would most likely survive the procedure as they have; ”Dalek Sec will survive!” The procedure continued and a long hour passed, by the end of it all, Dalek Sec was weak, he closed his casing and went to rest.

”Alert! Large power fluctuations detected towards the west! Multiple life-signs disapearing towards the south simultaneously!” Caan reported, ”Designate these area's inhabitants as THREATS TO THE DALEKS! Jast shouted in reply, they continued to monitor long range scans. They could almost feel the stench of humanity and everything else on the array make their Dalek equivalent of a stomach, churn in repulsion. They worked tirelessly, all for the sake of reinstating Dalek supremacy, Dalek purity. Dalek Thay assessed the situation, ”Negative! They are not threats! They are PESTS! The two Daleks, whirred as they turned their bronze colored domes to look at Thay, ”And they will be EXTEEEERMINATED!” The Daleks chanted their war cry, almost religiously, ”Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!” The Daleks felt their plans come to fruition, with more Daleks the next phase of the stratagem can begin. Exploration will become a necessity, assessing the enemy, finding their capabilities and limits, and ultimately crushing the enemy, that was their goal, complete supremacy.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

TWO HOURS LATER

-Phase two begins-

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

The Daleks prepared, they prepared for the weeks to come, they continued to build the rest of the facility and a circular perimeter was formed, in the middle of the perimeter was the void ship. The void ship in its inactive state, had no atomic weight, had no mass, had no volume, had no temperature, had no emissions, it theoretically shouldn’t exist at all. It is said that the void ship's presence upsets people, because they’re looking at something that isn’t possible; the feeling is described as deeply unsettling, even foreboding. The Daleks felt no such thing, as when the Daleks are encased, their memories are regulated, their emotions are kept in check, their souls ripped away. If a Dalek could be much more, it did not show; their greatest enemy, the most compassionate, wise, and intelligent man could not even think of a way to save them, to change them for the better. They are the scourge of the universe, and if one were to leave them unchecked, unopposed, they would butcher it.

An eerie silence fell on the base; only the whirring of the cloning facility and the sound of busy Daleks whistled along the cold, frozen breeze. The Daleks then receive another transmission, they’ve been receiving rouge transmissions in the past, however, they weren’t anything of import, this one was somewhat different.

To anyone who might be out there, for the love of whatever god is listening I hope you get this and get it fast! We've been on the run this past month or so, fuck knows I didn't keep track. Soldiers, monsters, hell god-fucking-damned sorcerers showed up in the mix! It's been a shitshow from the start and we were caught with our pants down. Despite it all we managed to make our way south, us and some other folk we found along the way. Then met up with some... well tribals I'd guess you'd call them, said they were gods or some such bullshit. They were camped around some huge generator or something, I don't fucking know. Anyways, for a while it seemed like a safe place, they were strong, stronger than any of us that's for sure. But out of the blue a bunch of Road-Warrior rejects showed up and set the place ablaze. Some of us fought, most of us hid while the tribe went to meet them in force. It didn't take long for the bunch of savages to get ripped apart by the bastards.

We ran as quick as we could when the chief's head was cleaved off his shoulders and dashed on the rocks. I ain't fucking around man, these psychos got all sorts of weird grimy-lookin' tech on 'em. Big guns, mechanical arms, blades and spikes all over 'em. Hooping and hollerin' like a bunch of dumb animals as they wen't round rippin' out innards and quartering bodies. It was about a a day and two nights before they were done, and we heard their buggies and trucks roaring behind us. We scattered, different folks from different groups spreading out so some of us could try and make it out. Not many of us made it this far, found some big ass fort and locked it up tighter than a virgin in Gomorrah. Wasn't long before they found the place and now they're beating down all the fucking walls around us. Don't know who's out there, if anyone is, but help us out and we'll owe you, big. Sending coordinates out, and just gonna hope something worse than those bastards doesn't come a knockin'. Fuck it.

It was a call for help, a distress call, it gave them vital information just from the description of the encounter alone. The distress call came from the south east, across the lake. The Daleks, with no means of transport, couldn’t help even if they wanted to. It was quite a shame, they would’ve made as an excellent key to the Ark, then later on, a slave force.

”Strategic and tactical information archived!” Caan stored the information, and proliferated it through the use of the path web, a secure Dalek system, the timelords themselves tried cracking the path web and failed, they concluded that unless you were a Dalek, or were part of a Dalek, you were not getting into the path web. It was almost an empathic link between Daleks, except instead of a telepathic field, it was a network of information being shared across the entire Dalek force, a Dalek internet.

The Daleks were devising a strategy to open the Ark, something drastic, something needed. Usually, at this point the Daleks would've attempted time travel, determine outcomes, predict the future, however, the Array was Time Locked; that meant the Daleks could not time travel even if they wanted to, that didn't mean they couldn't use temporal manipulation, but that would require more resources, resources that Daleks don't have enough of as it is. The Daleks schemed further, planned thorough, and calculated their rates of success. They were determined to open the Ark, a supernova would open the Ark by force, but the strategic importance of the array made it difficult; they did not want to damage the array in any way, especially if they didn’t know how it worked. If and only IF their stratagem works, the Daleks will rise to power again.

Dummy Tech
We have revived your call, a technician will be with you in a few hours

day 31, Early evening

After it had rerouted it’s 2 eastern scouting parties up to the coast in order to avoid treading on the toes of Raynor's Raiders, the CPU ended up encountering an SOS signal.

Of particular interest to the CPU was the mention of a generator (perhaps reference to a Node or some other kind of mega structure) and of the fortification the group where hiding in. The CPU hoped that continued research of the various structures of the Array would bring it to a greater understanding of the Station and the fortification was the first instance it had heard of something that could be lived in and thus might contain records or simply clues about the creators of the massive artificial space habitat.

It was fortuitous then that, as the rockets and fighters skimmed above the waves just off the coast of the ocean, that the desert it was trying to avoid gave way to a brown rocky badlands. It’s rocklets, lacking any kind of mechanisms like wings to allow for a banked turns, decelerated to a stop and then launched themselves southeast, across the badlands hex separating the distress signal from the sea.

To the south was the territory of Raynor’s Raiders with whom it had had a brief encounter earlier today. Small columns of dust could be seen rising from the vast sun scorched expanse, indicating where the patrol routes it had been warned about where rolling across the sandy terrain. In it’s encounter with the Raiders they had come of as rude, no nonsense insular military types, whose presence and expansion so close to it’s own facilities worried it greatly. Of less of a concern, in it’s mide at least, was(what it believed to be) the Republic to the west. They had come of as amicable, in its brief interaction with them at least.

Speaking of the Dominion, between checking back on the progress of their construction of a base around the volcano top node, making sure that the new Dummies and equipment that were being constantly manufactured were being put to work, that the huge number of craft and troops that were currently being put together into it’s central occupation task force weren't crashing into each other, doing experiments on the node, slowly scouting both the underground around it’s node and the surface around its fortress, the CPU was swamped with tasks. It was like having so many tabs open in a browser that even the small icons indicating what the tabs where for had become non visible, making switching to them a laborious and wasteful task as it kept tabbing it’s intelligence to the wrong group.

It really had to find someone to delegate tasks to, either clients or employees. It had primarily made use of pioneers buying it’s equipment to spread it’s influence and gain wealth previously, but so far there had been a distinct lack of buyers. Also it desired an actual military/research presence on the Array in-order to learn it’s secrets so that it could sell them and thus become more secure in it’s continued existence. Thus, it would need subordinates, something it had avoided previously for the sake of ensuring it’s location remained secret, now that looked like the only way to increase it’s multitasking ability. It would have to decide where to get it’s hired help, either it would have to be from home, or from here.

A question to consider later, for now, it’s 20 craft were approaching the site of the distress signal, just as the sun was going down. The CPU looked around at the region below and found a nice looking plateau to set down upon, there it would build a strike base from which it would launch its investigations into the source of the distress signal come morning. a slower moving harrier, along with two gunships, was launched from it's base back in the south, carrying a bunch of communication equipment it would be using to contact the distressed people in the morning and some heavier Units. For now, it would make do with the tactical information it could glean form it's sensors on arrival and of what it could see from it's vantage-point of the surrounding area.

Raider's Base

Jim was back in his room in the command center after a busy day of dealing with various day-to-day base operations that required his attention. Word had reached him that Rave, the one Spectre he'd met who he trusted absolutely since he'd known the man since he was a Ghost, had gone to retrieve Terra from a predicament. While he didn't necessarily like the female Ghost, since it had been her who'd dropped him on the prison ship Kerrigan had rescued him from, he didn't hold a grudge and was willing to give her a second chance. About five minutes after he settled in to just listen to some of his favorite tunes, the coms officer ran in, her face one of both triumph and surprise. Sitting up from his reclined position, the commander began to open his mouth when she spoke. "Sir, you need to hear this!" Without waiting for a reply, she plugged a flashdrive into his computer and loaded the file before hitting play.

Jim stared for a moment before he pulled up a map based on what they'd already scouted. The area was close to where they were settin' up an outpost, but he didn't have the manpower to spare to mount a rescue. He then remembered the broadcast from those Richter's Rangers the day before and grinned. "Coms officer, patch me through to those Ranger fellas. I'd like to have a word." She nodded and rushed back out his door as he turned to his communications console, when it flashed at him that it was ready, he spoke. "Richter's Rangers, this is Commander James Raynor of Raynor's Raiders, a Terran Dominion combat force. We recently picked up a distress call and find outselves in the unfortunate position of lacking the manpower ourselves to go help. You interested in some work?"

Contract acquired

Meal time for the rangers, Carolyn and her crew were enjoying a change of menu. With a chance to actually explore, Carolyn had decided it would be better to hunt and forage for food than to dig into their continually dwindling ration supply. Thanks to that, there was now fish and stew made with venison and some things that looked like vegetables(and seemed safe to eat). It tasted surprisingly good and no one seemed to be having any issues yet.

Carolyn found her meal cut short by an intrusion. Pauline had something to say it seemed, given the fact she took a seat across from Carolyn and began to speak. "Hey, Boss. Sorry to interrupt, but it seems someone wants your attention. Kurt sent me to get you."

Carolyn stood and let her aerospace commander lead her from her office and down the hall toward the bridge. As she followed Pauline, she asked, "What do we know about this attention seeker?"

"Says his name is Commander James Raynor of some Terran Dominion, and he has a job for us, Boss. Has something to do with a distress call, probably that one we heard a little while ago."

"Okay, well lets see what he has for us," Carolyn said as she tapped some buttons on the holo tank and the image of the dropship vanished again, replaced with information about the connection. "I'm sorry to keep you waiting, Commander Raynor. This is Carolyn Richter of Richter's Rangers. We would really like to hear the specifics of this job and pay before we agree."

It was about a ten minute wait before he finally got a response, but the former rebel didn't mind. After all, making the contacts needed to get a revolution going wasn't a quick deal and hiring mercenaries back home was never easy either. "That's quite alright ma'am. My offer's simple, you help us out here and help us with scouting the surrounding area, and I'll offer food, lodging for as long as you need or want it, and salvage rights on the bodies and gear of any battles you have with us, along with the materials you'll need to repair your heavier units. How's that sound?"

Carolyn looked back to her gathered council to see what they thought. No words, but they all seemed to think it was a good deal. She turned her attention back to the comm and said, "That's a rather generous offer, Commander. We accept, assuming you're willing to share what you know about this station we're stuck on."

Jim chuckled. "Don't mind at all, miss. But we don't have much more than our base location, another Node across the nearby river and where our side of the river meets both the ocean and some badlands. I have the coordinates for the fort that SOS came from if that's of any help."

"Thank you, Commander. I'm happy to be of help, and I'm glad we could come to an agreement so quickly." Carolyn looked back to her subordinates, "Gather everyone up and get ready to lift. We're going to need to be ready to drop someone before we land to get an idea of what's going on."Send those coordinates. We'll make short work of this and get back in touch with you once the job is done."

A few hours later, the equipment was all packed up, the crew and mercs secured. The dropship was ready to lift off and Carolyn was ready to get the mission underway. With the thrust of its powerful engines, the orb shaped dropship lifted into the air, bound for the badlands from the heavily wooded forests she had been hidden in.

It was this message that had sent a large force of the Grineer (led by Sargas Ruk) meeting up with Vay Hek's scouting party. The forces were now heading toward the coordinates that had been sent in the message. The Grineer had finally managed to get some aerial units up and running. The force (which consisted of 20 soldiers from every military class, and some elite Eximus units (1 Energy Leech, 3 Arson, 3 Arctic, 2 Leech). There were also 3 Prosecutors that were part of Vay Hek's personal guard. An additional 2 Bombards and 2 Bailiffs were a part of Sargas Ruk's guard. There were also 5 Shield Dargyns and 5 Lancer Dreg's accompanying the troops from the Sky. Lastly, Vay Hek was in his Terra Frame. When he had to walk on the ground, his steps caused the ground nearby to shake. All in all, the Grineer marching were a fearsome sight to behold. They had yet to build any sizable transports, but were fielding some personnel carriers. The vehicles weren't equipped with any weaponry, but were much faster than the marching they'd had to resort to up to this point.

In the personnel carrier that housed Ruk and Hek was exaclty in the center, the most defensable position. Ruk picked up a communicator. "Eg gwuwhuzi zupizus" ["See anything suspicious?"] he asked. One of the Eximus units replied. "Noh aktovitoi te reporta." ["No activity to report."] They were sticking to Grineer vernacular as much as possible, to avoid their transmissions being entirely understood. It was still another day's travel to the coordinates at this rate, and Ruk was antsy. He had only assembled this force on the order of the Queens. His tactician's senses were telling him something was off with this whole situation.

After Hek had found every single inhabitant of the primitive tribe dead, he had reported back and been ordered to join up with the forces. He and Ruk might differ on some points of view, but they both loved their Empire, and wanted to see their Queens rule over all that lived. At least the general had brought his beloved Terra Frame along. Still, he felt the same unease about the situation as his compatriot. He was just a bit calmer about it. Years of politics helped with that.

C.I.C.
Battlestar 'Lysander'

On the bridge of 'Lysander', a shout went up from the Battlestar's comms station. Snapping her head up from where she had been looking at the positional map table, CDR Cunningham inquired, "Yes, Ensign?"

"Transmission intercept from the surface, ma'am." the fresh-faced officer replied, twisting a dial to try and get better reception. "You better hear this."

That got the Commander's attention. With her XO nodding to her to accept it, she ordered, "Put it up on speaker, Mr Evans. Channel 1MC."

With a click from the speakers, the somewhat garbled, rambling transmission filtered in over the bridge's tannoy:

The tail end of the transmission dies with a crackle of static and Ensign Evans killed the line. Sighing, Cunningham paced her end of the table, examining the still sketchy terrain dradus map that had been compiled by her pilots over the past month.

"Co-ordinates for that transmission, Mr Evans?" Stephanie gritted.

"Dradus bearing 484 canum 159." Evans rattled off; he hastily jotted down the latitude and longitude before passing it up to Cunningham's XO.

"Ma'am, that grid places us within several clicks of Base Alpha's location." the Major added, passing the slip of paper to his superior officer. "But Varrnes' men won't be able to make it on foot. Not in time, if this is anything to go by."

"Agreed, Major. I want a Marine platoon and a flight of Assault Raptors scrambled. Get Green and Red Squadrons off of CAP and have them escort the birds in."

"Yes, ma'am." Major Paulson replied, reaching for his tannoy receiver.

Cunningham reached for her own receiver and, once the brief 'ping' of white noise died, her voice boomed over the ship-wide tannoy, "All hands, go to Combat Alert Level 2. Scramble Blue and Grey Squadrons for CAP. This is the commander..."
