I hope again I don't come off like an asshole. I really don't understand why everyone chose after Korra. As I talked to the GM there was so much more material wise in ATLA, then there is Korra. Where do you actually go from after Korra? To me, and I mean this in no offense [I still want to be a part of the RP], there is little you do after Korra.

There was the time and era where people learn from the great masters, after the first avatar. Wouldn't it been cool to play the Sun Warriors before the dragons went extinct? There was the time when Aang vanished, and think about how these people managed to fend off the fire bender and fear the Avatar would never come.

There's even the time before Korra as the world begins to gain more traction and modernize and those struggles. To me I felt the show Korra was too forced in the first place. And the RP seems to be repeating a lot of the stuff we've seen in Korra, again not meant to make anyone upset.

I am not asking to change it. But it's hard to conjure a history that would work in this era. Beyond the fact that we lose out on all the beautiful Eastern style of clothing for more modern biker wear and trench coats.

I am not sure how anyone had troubled being inspired before ATLA and more inspired by Korra. When I find Korra the least to be able to draw inspiration from.

Beyond the fact that I'd like to add something. Pulling from the real world, how functional is bending in a world of technology anyway? You have cars, trains, and automobiles, computers, and other technology that makes bending obsolete. Bending use to be the main source of technology. Why is it necessary in daily life now?

And what's the motivations and goals of the Avatar at this point in time? Tbh, Korra did nothing, but mess up her city rather then help it and was no more than a glorified ambassador. Tbh, Korra caused more problems then good

-She made Amun more powerful because she was afraid of him. She acted irresponsibly and immaturely.

-She helped her uncle open up the spirit realm. That could have outright destroyed the balance of the world because she believed it the right thing to do.

So, another Avatar whose role is not so defined? We have this Red Lotus people. But isn't that the police job now? Not the Avatars? Isn't that what some of the argument was in Korra when Korra impatiently tried to deal with something and didn't give respect to the proper authorities?

I'm just not necessarily understanding the premise right now. And I hope I am not stepping on anyone's toes. Or you're going to throw me out just for voicing some opinions.

Think of it like Japan or China. The cities have modernised, but the culture still runs strongly in the people and the rural areas are almost unchanged. Rosai's people are practically the same as they were in Aang's time, let alone Korra's. You have people, youth, who are embracing new styles and technology, but you also have the old or more spiritual people, who maintain the traditions.

Air nomads still fly on bison and glide in wing suits/traditional glider staffs. The Earth Federation, despite their political changes, are still varied between farmers, cityfolk and others. The Fire Nation would have changed the least, and the Water Tribes have probably established a trading route or tourism industry through the spirit portals. Only the United Republic would likely have enough infrastructure to support modern tech and vehicles as we know it.

And don't forget the influence of the spirits on technology. Dark Spirits in LoK destroyed mecha and snowmobiles, so a spirit portal and wilds in the middle of the biggest city in the world probably slowed down technology to the point where a computer might be more of a risk than it's worth developing. There's no space programme, so no GPS, no internet, no satellite phones, and no intercontinental warfare. You want to beat someone's face in, you still need to be able to see the bloke. Hence, bending.

In our case, bending is not obsolete, but nonbenders can match its power easily with chi-blocking lessons or tasers. That stops or restricts bending triads from exploiting nonbenders. An Avatar was never a military or temporal authority, but a balancing factor. If there's one person capable of stomping battleships into pulp or worse, war suddenly becomes a lot less attractive even if you're overwhelmingly stronger. Rosai may even be expected to learn the "fifth" element of chi-blocking or "nonbending".

So you're worried that the Avatar world is too similar to the modern world to be interesting? I assure you, it's close enough that we don't need lessons on imperial China to roleplay properly, but it's different enough that we aren't going to worry about Google Earth giving away the Avatar's position to hackers. And anyway, the Avatar is the target, not the solution. That's why there's a Team Avatar.

All though this goes for everyone. Woman in Japan and Woman in China still wear the clothes of their culture. Kimono in Japan. Or Cheongasm, and Cheongasm have very modern looking designs. Shit some people wear the shirts that imitate the chaingasm style with modern pants.

I mean, I thought the punk style fit fine with the era, like @candlelitcraft mentioned. I can see how I might need to tone down Roku, but Mae-Lin? Aside from the septum piercing, she doesn't look out of place. As far as Roku, I'd remove the piercings as well and the spikes on the jacket. If the majority wants it this way, I'm fine with it, @AngelofOctober.

@Xandrya, both of them are more or less alright. I just think having metal in your clothes would be odd outside Republic City and an outright risk given the availability of electrical weaponry.

But, if he has has a leather jacket and a motorcycle, Rosai will probably go all weak at the knees anyway just due to shee coolness.

Still working on details, don't have anything written down yet, but so you know I'm actually working on a character, I have a name, image, and general idea. :3

Only sharing the name and image for now, because I'm still working on the details for myself, and don't want to share one thing, then change it before I'm done with the character. XD
