Kazu Kujo
"You better give me some pointers
Since you are the big rocket launcher and I'm just the shotgun" Name: Kazu Kujo
Alias: Little Demon
Faction: Ghoul
Age: 16
Personality: Kazu is pretty much the definition of a street punk. You can usually find her loitering in seedy areas, generally being a hoodlum. She’s the kind of person who would jump off a roof on a dare, laughing all the way down. She tells dirty jokes, laughs way too loud, and has a fiery temper. She’s a very action-oriented person, willing to fist-fight anyone who she feels deserves it. Under her very rough exterior, though, Kazu is fiercely loyal and resilient. It takes a lot to bring her down, and she can always pull herself back up, and when she trusts someone, she would go to the ends of the Earth for them. She tends to be a bit too trusting, though. When someone shows her any kindness above common courtesy, she has a habit of getting attached, making her easy to take advantage of. In a few words, Kazu is a punk with a heart of gold.
"Man, I'll kick anyone's ass. I'll kick your ass, I'll kick your dad's ass, I'll kick my own ass! I don't care."
Appearance: Kazu is a very small and unassuming person. She’s short and thin, with a young-looking face. Despite appearing weak, she can really pack a punch, taking full advantage of her strength as a Ghoul. Her hair is cut short and sloppy, often tangled and messy, hanging in her face. She pretty much only wears one outfit, a black raincoat over one of the two shirts she owns (an AC/DC crop top and a skeleton sweater), ripped jeans, and old sneakers. Kazu has a Koukaku type Kagune, which manifests as large spiked claws around her right arm. When dealing with other ghouls, she wears the hood of her jacket over her head and a full-face red and white Oni mask.
"Ugh, I never liked telling this story..."
History: Kazu Kujo was never very good at hiding things. She wore her heart on her sleeve and always tried her best to be honest and genuine. Normally, these would be admirable qualities in a person, but when you’re a Ghoul who eats human flesh to survive and your whole species is wanted by the authorities, honesty can get you into a lot of trouble. Kazu’s family had to move around a lot to stay out of trouble, and in every place they lived, Kazu ended up getting into some kind of trouble. She was often met with fear from adults and hostility from other kids, as it wasn’t hard to suspect that she was a Ghoul. Despite the immediate fear that came with one of your neighbors possibly seeing you as a food source, the Kujo family wasn’t really much of a danger to anyone. Akiko and Mamoru Kujo didn’t actively hunt. In order to keep their heads low, they got all of their food from a third-party source.
"I can't say I blame everyone for hating me. I was a pretty shitty kid."
The family’s nomadic existence ended in Ward 8, when Kazu was fifteen. It had been a particularly bad day for her and she was feeling completely fed up. On her way home from school, a group of older students picked a fight with her and she couldn’t control her anger. She unleashed her Kagune, completely outing herself and her family. There was a quiet moment when both Kazu and the other kids were frozen, processing what had just happened, and then Kazu ran. She went straight home, panicked, and told her parents about her mistake. They packed fast, but the CCG got to their home faster. Kazu managed to escape, but her parents were captured, killed, or both. She never found out what exactly happened to them.
"Yeah, they're gone and it's my fault. Don't make me talk about it anymore."
Left without a home or family, Kazu lived on the streets. She survived by doing odd jobs for whoever needed a hand in exchange for food or money, wearing a cloth surgical mask to hide her identity. She had deals with various Ghouls in which she did whatever they needed, and they saved some meat for her when they hunted. She made plenty of connections and friendships, but got into just as much trouble. A good amount of the jobs she was doing were illegal, and a lot of the people she dealt with had enemies who saw her as an easy target to hurt them. Despite appearances, Kazu was tough and a good fighter, and always managed to come out of any scuffles on top. Many called her a
“Little Demon,” and this caught the attention of a certain gang leader.
"A gang leader who I TOTALLY DON'T have a crush on."
Anri Hanazawa was the de-facto leader of the
Diamond Kings, a street gang made up of a bunch of misfit Ghouls. She had heard about a young Ghoul who really packed a punch, so she set up a test of sorts. She sent six Kings on a mission to find the girl and fight her until either side couldn’t fight anymore. Anri watched the whole brawl, and it was
really something. Kazu had incapacitated four gang members before succumbing to exhaustion. At this point, Anri came forward and offered Kazu a bottle of water and a place in the Diamond Kings.
"That was the best fight of my life! I can't wait to top it someday."
As a King, Kazu gained food, shelter, and a group of friends she would kill for, in addition to a proper mask; an Oni mask to match her reputation. Word has spread through the underground that the Little Demon has finally chosen an allegiance.
"Yeah, yeah, quite the life story. Can we change the subject now?"
Skills: - Athleticism - Kazu is strong, fast, and agile, and knows how to use these traits to her advantage.
- Underground Connections - She has a lot of scumbags and ne'er do wells who are fond of her, human and Ghoul alike; plus, she’s under the protection of a steadily rising gang. Basically, if you mess with her, she won’t be the only one you’ll have to deal with.
- Friendly - If you can get past her crassness, she’s really easy to get along with. It's part of the reason she has so many connections.
Equipment: Kazu always carries a backpack on her that contains everything she owns:
- A spare shirt and set of underwear
- Her mask (when she’s not wearing it)
- A wallet
- A utility knife
- A book (Good Omens)
- An iPod and headphones
- A burner phone
