Also @Peaceless good character sheet. I was only wanting human characters, but if you are dead set on being a gnome I guess that's okay. Very good sheet. Add to the character list and post whenever you are ready.

I was looking for a race limitation in the OOC and couldn't find any, so I just assumed everyone's making humans out of personal preference. I am pretty sure I can make Harm a human or a half-human without much impact on her story. Will edit and post.

@Arkitekt, I don't know if I will ever get a chance to post. :(
I have considered giving up this hobby, which truly makes me sad, but I took on a job this year and my free time has been minimized.

@Peaceless Thank you for understanding. I set this up as a mid-fantasy rp, in which that some magic and perhaps some mythical beasts might exist, but I didn't want to go full on LOTR with 10 different races. The magic and beasts and things are going to be very minimal, so that most of this would be kept within the realms of possibility.

@Genbor that is a wonderful character. Very well thought out and like Angry Goat I think that being mute is a fantastic thing to have to work around.. and I can definitely see how rituals and superstitions could easily get in the way. Awesome job. Go ahead and add to the character list and post whenever is convenient. There is no set turn in which anyone posts. Just try and make sure that you don't step on any toes when doing so. Maybe once the main plot idea gets rolling we will decide on a turn hierarchy but as for now I'd like to leave it open so that those of us who post more often wont be stuck waiting for someone else to post.

Also if everyone could mock up their character sheet like mine or like Icarus' sheet with the name and currency, as well as ammo at the top that would be great. Placing everything else in a hider makes it easier and quicker for myself to access, as well as everyone else. Thanks.

@Gunther I'm very sorry to hear that. I wish that you could participate still, however I completely understand where you are coming from. We have two special needs children I the home and it can get very crazy around here, on top of jobs and everything else. If n othing else please stop by and keep up with the story if you'd like, and maybe in the future if you have the time I can somehow implement you back in. Very sorry to hear that you can't make it, but focusing on what's important is definitely not something you should jeopardize. Thanks for coming out none the less.

Everyone is clear at this point to post whenever. My character and Gail are getting together for the first bit of the story, so we will be caught together. Once everyone is caught and Jailed I will bring the group out in front of the king to start the main plot drive. However you decide to end up in shackles is up to you, and if you could do so in 3-5 posts that'd be great. Trying to get everyone together so that we can get started on the main story first.

Just a quick question about the Skill system. I understand this is not supposed to be a tabletop type of roll the dice for every action. That said, I don't think I quite understood the mechanics. I understood that the more successes means the better execution of the task at hand. Could we get a bit more elaboration on that?

From what was written, it seemed like if I have a Skill of 3, I roll 3d2. The success was a bit vague on that. What would count as a success in this case? A d2 = 2 for success I assume? So does this mean if I roll a 2 = success, if I roll a 1 = failure?

On that note, what advantage do we get for having a higher skill? For example:

[Case 1]:

Pickpocket: 4

If I attempt to pickpocket, I roll 4d2. Would rolling a single 2 be counted as a success, albeit a sloppy one? And if I get four 2s that means I performed spectacularly?

Or do I have to match the average? So I need to get an overall result of 4 or higher for the success?

@Genbor Wonderful question, and yes you got the jist of it fairly down pat, and as you mentioned it is more like a guidelines system for us to incorporate a bit of spontaneity in our posts rather than just forming them coherently in our minds. As far as what you wrote above you would be correct. like on a 4d2 roll with two successes hat would indeed be a success, and again, it would've been a bit sketchy, but still a success. Anytime that you have a skillset that ends up with a roll of one you can either assume that is a failure, or a very costly, or shotty success. A one is generally considered to be a failure because no zeros can be rolled.

If you get all successes in a pickpocket roll it then changes the roll for the payout, to a d20 instead of a d100, and pays in gold coin instead of bits.. All successes is like hitting a good scratch off.

Again, this is just a guideline model for allowing a bit of our writings and posts to be a bit beyond our control, nothing more. Also when fighting or what have you, you don't need to roll for each blow or attack, one roll should suffice for the whole ordeal, if that makes sense.

@Arkitekt

So how would a Pickpocket of 4 compare to a Pickpocket of 1? If out of the 4d2 only one roll is a success, would that be comparable to a single success from a simple d2 or would that still be a failure? (Skill levels of 4 vs 1)

Would 4 successes out of 4 be comparable to a 1 out of 1?

If not, how would they be differentiated?

@Genbor good question. I would say that the skill level would determine the outcome more than the roll. Say for instance you only have a skillset of 1, ad you roll a success then you still only get a d100 roll in bits due to lack of skill... whereas having a skillset of 4 and rolling all four successes is much better than a single roll from a skill measured so low, if that makes sense. These aren't exactly set in stone and didn't follow any conventional gaming style either (though it is a loose representation of White Wolf and WOD, or masquerade) and it hasn't been fully employed to work out any kinks. I would just use your better judgement and the situation to determine the outcomes as you see fit, but naturally having a higher skillset will most often do much better than a low one, and even shotty successes can still be successful, but come at a costly price, or ends up causing a bit more trouble than normally intended.

Alright thank you for the answers, they do clear up some confusion I had toward the system. My last question would be whether to document the rolls in our posts, maybe in a Hider at the bottom?

Anyways back to the topic, I know it is trust based, but I think I read that with successful use we could upgrade the skills (whether we had them during Character creation or not) we used. So would that help in keeping tabs?

@Genbor Absolutely.. I think that is a fine idea. I was going to leave it up to everyone whether or not they wanted to document them, but I think a hider at the bottom would be a fine way to do so. And yes, if a character shows a skill often enough it can eventually be upgraded.

Either way is fine. I was going to maybe meet up with you and offer you a portion of the job she has coming up, but since @Genbor posted about the mansion I thought maybe we could go to the same one, or that would end up being the job she had planned. I was going to go to the docks but I think this would be an epic way to get this done as well. Once we are there we notice that someone has already entered but decide to go ahead anyway. The patrons are already afoot so it would most likely end in the three of us getting caught at the same time.

I was going to meet with you @The Angry Goat anyway to get a bit of dialogue between them and then be on with it, but whatever you guys think. Not sure what is going on with the other two.. I can add in another character if need be.

@Peaceless, @SantosGabriel77, @Icarus, I'm hoping you guys are still interested. Would love to see your characters in action.

@Arkitekt @The Angry Goat

I can hold off the ending to Lautrec's misadventure so we can weave the whole thing together and get caught some other way than what I had planned. Just let me know if that's what you want to do or you're going to do your own things so I can plan accordingly.

@Genbor @The Angry Goat, Either way is fine by me. I'd love to hear Goat's idea as well, but I think the mansion ordeal would be a very suitable way for everyone to get caught at the same time. It'd also make for an awkward happenstance if they ran into each other as well. Both of your characters are fantastic, and I can't seem to tell you guys that enough. Hoping to hear something from the others soon too.

I will add a second character once the plot comes into play, that should add a bit of filler. Maybe a Lackey for the Emperor or something like that.. You guys can add another character if you'd like as well, not sure how much time you guys have to spend on this, just letting you know the option is there if you'd like. Anxious to get the whole thing rolling, but no need to cut out good posts to do so.. As long as we are moving forward there isn't any need to rush anything. I'd hate to cram everything into one short post just for the sake of getting on with things. I very much like to see a good story, above all else.

@SantosGabriel77 Fantastic. Very glad to hear that you are still on board. Not trying to rush anyone, just wanted to verify that everyone is still around. Getting close to the introduction of the main opening to the plot. Just wanted to make sure everyone is flush when this happens. Looking forward to seeing Eravon's debut. Many thanks!!

@Arkitekt I've been hoping to finish editing the sheet on the weekend but it's been a little crazy here. Hope to finish it today. It's harder than I thought to change race, so I'm gonna take the easy way out - invent a kingdom where people are short and like industry and "me pot o' gold".

Whatever works for you @Peaceless. I said you could remain a gnome if you were dead set on it. Either way.. I just didn't want this to resemble a LOTR type environment with all sorts of races running around. Either way it is up to you.. I'd prefer them to be all human, but I can overlook it if need be.

One thing I would maybe change would be the Firearms skillset. There is a -2 modifier for flintlocks that is to be rolled by everyone who uses them, sort of a standard thing. Also when using a flintlock everyone rolls a standard d10 just like an attack roll so I'm not entirely sure that you'd benefit from having it anyway.

However I do like the idea of a such a place where little people dwell. Pygmies..
