While waiting for posts and replies I had a thought regarding items. While I love writing item descriptions and seeing what pops up on rolls, they tend to end up as big blobs of text with pictures attached. I figured these might be a pain to copy-paste and can be kind of inelegant. Which can end up a problem when we're supposed to keep track of what our characters have.

So I got to thinking of a solution and it struck me.

What if I make item 'cards'? Like this:

I make a template in GIMP for the various item categories, weapons, armors, general items, misc stuff, ect and I can just fill it out as things come up. Everything is neat, organized, well presented, and in a easy to link picture form.

How does that sound to everyone? Would you like me to start doing that?

Took a little procrastination, but I finally got a post up. I've been keeping up with the posts and stuff over the past few days, but didn't really have anything to contribute, but here we are.

Also I have a question for everyone: Should I condense my posts at all?

One of my worries about this roleplay is that how I've set it up makes it rather...slow. And when players are waiting for a while to post they gradually lose interest which is very bad. So please tell me if any of your are unhappy with the pace things are going at and I'll do my best to resolve them.

I interpret the slow pace to be part of the nature of play-by-post games. I personally enjoy the amount of effort that you put in the posts, and I'm usually prepared for the posts taking a while. I'd love to keep seeing them, but if you are really concerned about the pace and want to condense your posts, that'd be fine b

That sounds really cool. As long as it's not too much work for you, that might be a way slicker way of handling inventory stuff. The image seems to be down right now, but I did catch a glimpse of it earlier and I am a fan of the format.

@agentnumalolProcrastination strikes everyone Agent, so I appreciate the effort you took in getting your post up despite that. Marston's suggestions are more then helpful. Plus just the fact a cowboy is planning on landing a headshot on a glorified dinosaur really gets across the beauty of this this roleplay.

Hearing how much you appreciate the details in my posts is really nice and it is a relief to hear you have patience in regards the pace of things. I don't intend to trim down my posts at all (unless a situation demands it) but that doesn't mean I won't look for ways to improve or streamline things for the convenience and enjoyment of everyone involved here.

Making the cards isn't that difficult. Once the work goes into making the general template and most I have to do is write and add a picture to it for each individual item. Which isn't that different from what I've been doing so it's no work at all :)

Also Baron was also having issues seeing the image. I changed the hosting site so let me know if you can see it now or not.

it's working now. and I have to say, that is a really nice way to record inventory items. I am really impressed with all the work you put in for this, it massively adds to the already excellent writing of your gm posts.

I like the card idea. It's a nice way to get all the information from the descriptions down into just a paragraph, some choice words and an image.

Also, I don't know if this is a problem for everyone else. I can never remember what shade of green I use for Snake's dialogue. I remember I made it darker than the shade I used for the header but I can never remember exactly what it was.

Also I might have Snake acting a little rashly in my post but honestly that is how I play him in Metal Gear Solid 3. (In other news I die a lot in Metal Gear Solid 3) I kind of imagine that that is what he would do in a cutscene, it's just that in game it's a lot harder to make that work and in cutscene Snake eliminates everyone with extreme precision

@glwgameplayerJust look back to your previous posts and click the top right corner of your post that says 'raw'. You'll be able to see the raw coding for the post and what color you used previously. After that it's just a matter of copy and pasting. As for Snake being aggressive, he seems to have a fairly sound plan. Aggressive would be more bull rushing things.

@agentnumalol In unrelated news, I found a song that reminded me of Marston a bit.

Believe me, when Marston gets the chance, he'll find a way to gun down a group of baddies with a burst of Deadeye. Save the town. Honor +50, Reputation +10.

Speaking of which, I was actually considering building the reputation/honor system when building John's character, where I would stick to the good gunslinger bit and people could help me out every now and then at the cost of being hunted down by gangs seeking revenge. It would have been neat, but I didn't quite want to keep track of that stuff. Plus I probably would have liked to abuse it with bandanas.

You can't tell me what to do.

@agentnumalol
personally, I think part of the fun of crossovers is figuring out how the powers and systems would work in other worlds. and it doesn't have to be story stuff either it can be as simple as Snake's food going down quicker because that's how it works in MGS3. I love little nods to gameplay and story in stuff like this

Although I admit that the honor system might not make sense since the world got torn to shreds and stitched back together by someone who has no idea how a needle and thread works. Although since we are building a town he might get his chance later anyway.

@agentnumalolHahaha. To be fair Marston's actions in the roleplay as they are will probably earn him reputation. Killing bad guys or turning bandit and robbing a surviving town would have different effects. So you might still get your wish, just without the bandana abusing (or maybe with the bandana abusing if you can find or make one XD).

Also I just put up a second interest check for another roleplay I'm starting. Don't worry, I won't be neglecting this roleplay. I just figured I'd post it here and share. If you aren't interested or don't want to overload yourself with too many roleplays that is fine~

@DracoLunarisI understand Draco, its fine. Thank you for posting and putting your usual charm into Lily and Julian's replies. :)

Right now I'm recovering from surgery. Stuck in bed at home and crocked on pain pills. They didn't find any cancer so that is good, but I have a wound in my rear end and can't sit down to use the toilet.

I'll go harass Lavul and Kaiser to post while I check my notes to see what else is in the 'starting' area Lily is in.

@lavulmanNah It's perfectly fine Lavul! Thanks for posting. I've bugged Kaiser and I'm sure he'll post in a bit and then hopefully Red. I'm working on the post in the meantime so I'll be able to get everything up in one nice motion.

How is everyone doing? Any plans or thoughts regarding the holidays? Or just general stuff you want to share?

Ah man, it's been a while. Good to see there's still a little bit of activity going on. I can practically feel the pressure of Marston's finger against the trigger at this point.

I'm not bad, @Crosswire. It never really hit me that the holidays were coming up until my sister started screeching Mariah Carey today while driving. It's actually been a while since I've turned on the radio so I haven't heard Christmas songs in forever. It actually feels refreshing rather than annoying, but we'll see if that remains in a couple weeks. Hope y'all are doing well yourselves.

@agentnumalolYeah don't worry I and the other players are definitely still around! I just need to smack Kaiser and RedBaron on the bums to get them to post and we'll be good as golden rain.

I'm glad I'm not the only one whose started to actually enjoy Christmas music again. I can't remember the last time I heard a proper Christmas song so now that the holidays are approaching I've been legitimately wanting to hear some. In fact I watched Rankin Bass's "Jack Frost" which did not hold up nearly as well as I thought it would, I remember their other specials being great.

So I'm doing well myself. Still kind of drugged and slow in the thinker since the surgery. However that is clearing up.

Glad to hear you're surviving well Agent!
