Turning to Good - Someone steals his car, sending him on a mission to find the crooks and stop them. This kickstarts his turn to good and vigilantism.
Nemesis - He finds a villain who will stop at nothing to end him. Derek needs to stop and defeat the villain.

The Huntress
Birth Name: Helena Bertinelli
Birthdate (Age): December 11 1994
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Concept Abstract:

Bruce Wayne, if the family business had been the mob, and he'd been kidnapped and raped before watching his family blown away. Fanatically driven to the point of identity suicide; there isn't truly a Helena Bertinelli under there. It's just the Huntress. Everything else is either an act, or the sad attempts of a vigilante past the point of no return to feel something else in their existence--even if briefly. Here Helena disappears at an early age under the care of her infamous assassin great uncle, more or less not reappearing until it's as a business and investment young star. Relationships and work in the old country proceeds Helena's, and her great uncle's, plot for her to commandeer the American italian mafia get Helena heavy influence in the American mob.

She is uniquely positioned to fight crime from within, and she will even if it means giving up her life to do it. It isn't until her great uncle's death years later that the Huntress first sees the night, itself influenced by other vigilantes. Other vigilantes that typically play by rules the Huntress disregards in total if it means accomplishing her goals. The character is a big dreamy sigh for Helena Wayne of yesteryear.

Plot Mock-Up:

Helena feels threatened as a human, and goes about acquiring the means to leveling the playing field. While she awaits resolution of that long game, she moves into NYC and sets up shop. Originally her shop is entirely legitimate, but a NYC power struggle quickly sucks in Helena. Spider-Man showing up to question her cousin, the criminal face of the crime family, in her home enrages her. Helena reveals to Spider-Man who's really in charge, and promises him that she will have his identity soon in retaliation. What she does with that information may well still be up to him. The ultimate goal of the plot is a Huntress/Spider-Man team up as Helena retreats to reconsider her attitudes on metahumans.

Notes:

Despite being a nod to Helena Wayne, no real ties to the Batclan set up right now. Unless you count her family estate down the street from Wayne Manor. That'll show up from time to time.
