J.J Stone is a rather tall young man standing at six feet one inches tall. He most certainly looks the part of a high school corner back. J.J always has a smile on his face. It is one of his best traits. It is the kind of 'Aww Shucks 'smile that could melt hearts or light up a room. J.J is not crazily obsessed with how he looks but keeps his physique by running almost every day. His daily regiment for his football training keeps him trim and in shape despite his love of eating. The oddest piece of clothing he owns is hat. The simple black felt ten-gallon hat is his most prized possession and he wears it whenever he can. The hat is rather drab looking and appears to be older than J.J yet he still loves this hat. It is not odd to see J.J walking down the hall with his hat on. It is just a part of him as much as his often-messy blonde hair.

J.J is not the obsessed with how he looks but does try and at least attempt to appear like he is put together wherever he goes. He is not exactly wearing Gucci or anything expensive like that. He is a simple guy with simple tastes.

J.J wants more than anything to be someone. J.J has a deep seat need for people to know who he is and never forget his face. All his life, people have just seen a hick and J.J wants more than that. Everyone has an image as to who J.J is but he wants to prove them wrong more than anything. J.J Stone is going to be someone if it is the last thing he does.
His short term goal is to graduate high school and get away from this whole strange world. No one cares about him here and everything he wants is in Texas. There is nothing for him in Beverly Hills.
His long term goal is to own his ranch and retire young with boatloads of cash. That is all he wants in the world right now. His plan to get this ranch is to open his own investment firm since he seems to have a knack for stocks despite his weakness with his English Classes.

Thalassophobia- He is terrified of the deep ocean. There are no bodies of water like that in Texas.
Acrophobia- He is more afraid of roller coasters more than other heights. Not exactly debilitating but he still gets the shakes.
Coulrophobia- He saw IT when he was young and it scared him silly.

Joshua Jerimiah Stone was never the most normal kid in the school. He always seems to be in his own little world and never truly feels like he belongs. His whole life has been one of constant opposites

J.J was born in the tiny town of West, Texas just outside of Dallas. His parents Doug and Erika Stone, were high school sweethearts and did as teenagers did when they were alone. After a night of passion, Erika got pregnant with J.J. Instead of running away, Doug chose to stay with his girlfriend giving up on his dreams of playing college football to raise his son. The little family was not typically normal since they always to have just enough money to get by. It was odd because Doug had no discernable source of income such as a job, yet they still had the money. It never truly bothered J.J since he was so young back then. J.J remembered his parents arguing about how he needed to stop doing “It “and J.J never learned what it was. It seemed rather important for his mother that his father quit whatever it was he did to make money. They were never wealthy, but they never owned four cars. The family lived in a relatively simple little house, but it was a home. The family lived in relative quiet while J.J was growing up. He never wanted for anything that he truly needed. The entire time he was growing up, his father would take him into their tiny back yard, so they could practice football. J.J was never any good at running the ball, but he seemed to inherit his father’s skill with defense. His father wanted his son to follow in his footsteps since he no longer could follow his dreams of playing for the Dallas Cowboys. His son would take up that dream. Doug enrolled his son in football when he was seven because “football and oil was in his blood” as his father told him that first day. J.J was a natural Cornerback just like his father had been when he was younger. J.J had the quick feet and the quick thinking required to read the field.

J.J’s young life was a happy one. His parents taught him many different lessons. His father taught him how to throw a punch like a good Texan and never to back down from a challenge. There were yoga lessons from his mother and then fishing with his father. Everything was just perfect until J.J turned 11 and his father did not come home one from whatever he did for money. That was when everything came into the light. J.J learned that his perfect father had been running drugs for a local drug cartel and had run afoul of the cartel. So, they had him disappear for stealing from them. His mother seemed frightened enough of whoever her husband had angered that she packed J.J up and fled to Dallas without warning. The move had been a jarring one, but it was only a couple miles into the city. J.J had to adjust to living in a concrete jungle as opposed to the grasslands he was used to. Since he was generally quick to adjust to changes, this was no different for J.J. The loss of his father weighed hard on the young man but he eventually got through it using his love of football.

By the time he was in high school, J.J felt like he belonged in Dallas. His mother was running her own small yoga studio and J.J was doing relatively well for the local Football team. He was gearing up to try and get a scholarship to the University of Texas since that had been his father’s dream. Then everything went south quickly. During one of her yoga classes, Erika got noticed by a rich banker on a trip. Pierce Prewitt decided that she was going to be wife number three after all his divorces. After a whirlwind romance of only three months, the pair decided that they should get married. J.J hated his mother for remarrying though he didn’t exactly understand why she had done it. As soon as the sham of the a wedding was over, Prewitt declared that he was taking them both to Beverly Hills with him. J.J believed his mother had told Prewitt that he had to bring her son with them. Now for the second time in his life, J.J Stone was moved in the middle of the school year to a place he barely understands. The people act all kinds of strange and most of them are the very people that he hates the most. The only thing that makes sense to him is the football team and even then, it seems confusing. Now all J.J wants is to be free of this school and get back to Texas and where he belongs. Still it does seem that some people who are decent in this area. J.J just wants to find some of those people to attempt to make some friends. One thing he knows is that he hates the Popular Girls of the school. There is something just plain evil about them and even J.J refuses to talk to them.

There are several first impressions you could make of Park. Shy, hesitant and reproachful. He carries a warm, pleasant air around him but he seems to hesitate behind every action he makes. He is not entirely confident in himself which shows quite obviously in his appearance. He has a young, boyish-looking face but with little baby fat, a trait he got from his ruthless exercise routines. He has a small rectangular space on his eyebrow where it looks like it was shaved off. Instead, this comes from him flicking his eyebrow way too much out of habit. He stands at 5" 10', quite tall for a 15 year old but necessary due to his fencing lifestyle. He has lithe, toned muscles and is quite a lean teenager having little interest in junk food or any sort of fattening meals. He dresses conservatively, a simple jacket or coat with jeans is enough for his outwardly appearance. He isn't the most socially adept person in the world so he wouldn't dress like he was looking for attention. And that's the problem, he hasn't made much of a name for himself due to his tendency to blend into the background. Despite anything he does, he tends to blend with the wall despite any attempt to not do otherwise. Combined with his thick accent, bare understanding of the English language and shyness around strangers, one would wonder how he could possibly survive high school. The boy honestly just wants friends and a fencing club, not much drama at all.

Park was born into existence. That's pretty much it. Some might question whether the nephew of an Olympian and the son of two hardworking (and rich) businessmen could have such a boring birth. But it was. It was average, it lasted an average amount of time, there were no complications and he was born at an average weight. He was a little taller, sure, but it didn't detract by how boring his life started. His childhood was quite uneventful as well. He didn't see much of his parents from the age of 5, his mother going back to full working hours. They left their little apartment in Seoul at 5 am and came back at 12am, often tired after a long day of meetings, calls or whatever they were doing. The little boy often didn't see his parents and would communicate through notes on the fridge. He had to learn how to cook, clean the apartment, do the dishes, wash clothes and other such menial tasks otherwise his parents would be very disappointed. He didn't want to disappoint them after all, what if they went away for longer than they do now? That wouldn't do. They'd be tired for longer and wouldn't be able to see him. It was like they didn't want him in their lives so if he disappointed them, they'd really not want him. He was, after all, quite an average child. Nothing special, nothing new. Just someone to continue the family name.

There was one day in his early life where both of his parents came home early. It was the worst day of Park's life. "Hello." the stranger said, walking into the apartment "How are you son?"

Who was this man, standing in the doorway? Who was he? why was he standing with his mother? He tilted his head, a blank expression on his face. He wasn't sure who this man was. The stranger reached his arms out, as if beckoning for a hug. "Mama said I shouldn't hug strangers." Park quoted, tilting his head even further. The stranger's face drooped, his lips starting to curl downwards. Wait. He didn't want this. He didn't want the stranger to cry. He didn't like people crying, it's how they leave you right? He didn't want the person to leave. He took hesitant steps towards the stranger before slowly wrapping his arms around the man. The stranger placed his chin on his shoulder and whispered "Don't worry Park, papa'll be here for you." Unsurprisingly, he wasn't. That's the end of that story.

The consequences of this early loneliness still affect Park today. It contributed to his overall awkwardness and lack of self-esteem although this would improve over time. It also built up his fear for disappointing his already detached parents, despite his independence streak from them. It restricts him from doing anything too dangerous, too daring in case his parents somehow finds out (even if there's no chance of them doing so). He also became subconsciously distrusting of any promises made to him, unless it's from someone who he really trusted. Whenever someone would ask about his parents, he'd always say that "They're normal and busy people, all that's to it I'm afraid."

Park wasn't put into normal school but instead was tutored by a number of different people. To an emotionally and socially stunted individual, this overwhelmed him but he soon grew to love his new family. Everyday he had multiple visiting tutors and a set time schedule. He was particularly good at his singing, maths and Spanish classes. The lonely apartment was suddenly filled with new people and it filled him with joy when they came. Especially when visited by his English teacher, Uncle Joo. They were related by blood but he could never see the connection between his hard-faced mother and his free spirited uncle. Instead of actually learning, he spent most of his english class trying to help Uncle Joo get a date with his singing and Spanish tutor, Ms. Santos. Whether by going out to the mall for some flowers, searching for good restaurants to take her or finding ways to impress her, it was always fun with his uncle. The tutors all excelled at their jobs of course - barring Uncle Joo. He had above average academics and keen mind but he needed more. At the age of 9, he decided to find some more extracurricular activities for his free time in between classes. With Uncle Joo's stolen wallet in hand, he searched the city alone to look for something to do. At that point, he was so estranged from his parents that his independence streak kicked in much earlier than usual. He had no problems with scouring the streets alone like that, even in a cold winter night.

Eventually, Park came across a dusty old staircase on a side street in downtown Seoul. Sang-young's Swords Academy. Ignoring the generic name, his interest was piqued by the name. He had heard of Park Sang-young, a gold medalist fencer who retired a decade or two back. He had seen the old newspaper article wrapped around one of Uncle Joo's "hidden" beer bottles on the top shelf of the apartment. He had climbed the countertop, getting to the bottle-shaped newspaper covered objects easily enough. He had actually distracted Uncle Joo with it, wanting to drink from it out of childlike curiosity as the elder man walked in. Joo yelled out in surprise and attempted to snatch the bottle away. Instead, Park let the bottle get smacked and it broke against a nearby drawer. Shocked, his uncle proceeded to try and clean the mess. In the process, the young boy grabbed the wallet out of his uncle's back pocket and politely left his uncle to worry about his parents coming home.

Anyhow, Park walked up the staircase, wrapped up in a furry parka. He opened the door, letting the cold air swirl into the opened room. Well, it was more of a gym hall. There were metal strips running lengthwise down the gym, with multiple wires running along the strips (later to be known to him as "pistes"). A total of six of these pistes were present but only two were being used, one person at opposing sides. There were two other people resting on the benches, gazes focused on the duellers even as sweat gathered on their brow.The sound of metal clashing metal filled his ears, the loud beeping noise when a touch happened made him startle in surprise. As any 21^st century kid, he spent much of his time on the internet, browsing through videos. Fencing compilations had him both confused and transfixed to the screen. It was fascinating, seeing all this in real life. The flexible weapons, the bouncing feet, the darkness of their masks, everything just oozed cool to him. In these first few seconds, it was like he was under a spell. This was broken a few seconds later by a rough voice, from a greying man in the corner near the door, someone who went completely unnoticed by him. "Mah mah, you're letting all the air in, get inside or get out, dang kid." The grumbling and obvious displeasure made him kickstart into action, closing the door and entering inside.

Park put his hood down and started to stare at the grumbling stranger. He had greying hair on the top of his head but no bald spot. What was no doubt a previously handsome face was wrinkled with age, a stubble covering the lower half. He wore a black sweater and fitting dark jeans. Dark eyes peered at him back and it was at that moment he realised he was staring. "Kid, you gonna pay for lessons or are you just gonna stand there and look at me?" The young boy started bumbling. He didn't particularly want to spend his uncle's money. He just... well what the heck. He was here and his uncle was fairly rich, he was tutoring him to get to know his nephew better. There's his little independent streak once more. He nodded once, still fairly shy in the presence of who is supposedly the great Sang-young. The former olympian looked at him with analytical eyes, as if searching for something. Waiting in anticipation, he waited for the grandmaster to speak. After an agonisingly slow few seconds, the grandmaster spoke with that grumpy voice of his. "Never mind, you're too short. Come back in a few years kiddo."

The boy opened and closed his mouth like a yapping fish. He was a paying customer, wasn't he? Why couldn't he get in? Was it actually his height or did he annoy the man too much? What's going on? Is he really that old and decrepit? A young, distinctly confident female voice called from the other side of the hall. "Stop bullying him, ya stupid old man! Let him have the trial class like you had with all of us." Sang-young's face turned into one of irritation. The elder began grumbling under his breath before standing up, showing his height. He wasn't all that tall at 5' 7" but was lithe, toned muscles showing through the fitting jeans he wore. Sharp eyes stared down at Park before he was kicked in the shin. "Mah, Soo's got yer back. She's a pain to deal with, nag nag nag.. Come on kid, let's fence."

And as they say, the rest was history. His uncle was severely disappointed at the amount of money he lost because of his escapade but was happy the boy was being outgoing and exercising. It would be a difficult first year for him, Park struggled with fencing due to his lack of height but as he grew older, his sudden active lifestyle helped him grow. The weight of the sword was also a problem but was quickly overcome by how frequently he trained. He would come to the hall three days a week for the first half of the first year before moving on to five days a week. Then he went multiple sessions a day, one morning and one night. He took to fencing like bees to honey, immersing himself in the way of the sword. Epeé was his preferred style, he wasn't much of a sabreur or foilist. The slow, methodical style of the longest weapon appealed to him the most. Once he reached the age of 13, he was allowed to do more intense training camp such as light olympic lifts, HIIT sprints, long runs, etc. With lots of free time between tutor classes, he could go train whenever he could and without his parents knowing about it. He never actually revealed his sport to his parents, even to this day, once again afraid of their disappointment. He also got to meet many of his own peers in the club such as Soo, a girl only one year older than him who helped him grow out of his shell a little more. He became a little less stunted afterwards, thankful for the third family he gained from the fencing club.

However, in life, good things have to end. Park's parents, once he reached 15, confronted him one day. In actual real life, not just through notes and occasional texts. They were worried he was emotionally and socially stunted, unaware of his extracurricular activity. They were going to send him off with his uncle and aunt (Joo eventually got with Ms. Santos) to an American high school, so that he could learn how to grow outside of the apartment, in a foreign land. Shocked to the core that his parents would care for him after fifteen years of not caring, he couldn't gather the willpower to disagree and show them his fencing skills. Instead, he just silently stalked back to his room, beginning to pack his bags and fencing bag. He knew they weren't going to drop him off at the airport, they had an important business meeting at his time of leave, no point in hiding his hidden sport. He said goodbye to his tutors and his friends at the fencing club, awkwardly promising to come back and visit if he could. This was all overwhelming and abrupt, he never thought he would leave Soeth Korea or even Seoul, his hometown. It shocked him and even when they went through the baggage check in the international airport, it still didn't sink in. As he sat down in his airplane seat, looking out to the beautiful night lights of Seoul, he realised. He would have to use his uncle's barebones English lessons. Aside from the English songs he learned in singing class, he barely knew anything. He groaned out loud, wishing he had downloaded English 101 on his phone.

Marcus stands at a modest 5'11 but always says that he's 6 feet when asked about it. He has dark blonde hair, and his eyes are light brown but seem dark green when he cries. He has an athletic build that looks like it was torn off of a magazine cover, but Marcus isn't exactly obsessive about his body. He works out maybe three times a week, and even then he gives minimal effort. Dieting? He eats cheeseburgers daily, it's his favorite meal when high, and drinks alcohol like it’s his last day on Earth. Luckily Marcus was blessed with great genetics and, along with the supernatural powers of youth, he can keep his athletic figure.

Marcus' wardrobe consists of dark jeans, tight-fitting shirts, and expensive watches; although, he usually wears whatever he can find through the haze of his morning hangover. The only two things that he never leaves the house without are a custom-made leather jacket, that conceals a flask of whichever alcohol he's into at the moment, and a silver ring engraved with the Latin words “Carpe Noctem”, meaning “seize the night”. Marcus, being the party animal that he is, uses these words of motivation as an excuse to party.

The future is something that Marcus McClennan does not like to think about. For him it holds a lot of hard work, and hardworking is something that has never been used to describe Marcus. He prefers to live as he is now: young, carefree, and with an infinite supply of money.

Though he will never admit it, deep down Marcus dreams of one day returning to New York City. Maybe even running his father's company, if he doesn't accidentally burn it to the ground first.

Marcus fears the same things that most people do - pain, death, failure. Coming to terms with your own mortality is difficult to do, especially when you're a moody teenager. But the thing Marcus fears more than anything else is the thought that he is not enough. Not smart enough to run his father's company. Not cool enough to earn the approval of others. Not strong enough to be the man his parents wished he would be. Not kind enough to be the man his brother was. Rather than facing these insecurities head on, Marcus comforts himself with all the drugs and alcohol that a kid with millions of dollars can buy.

The McClennans pride themselves in being one of the most powerful families of New York and having a history almost as old as America itself. Most people believe that America began with the Revolutionary War, when a ragtag gang of colonies won a war against one of the largest nations the world has ever seen. While it’s a great underdog story, the America of that time was exactly that – a small ragtag gang of colonies. America didn’t truly become the great nation we know today until the Irish came along.

It all started in the 1840s, when hundreds of thousands of Irishmen came pouring through the streets of New York. All of them running from a little something called the Irish Plague. One of these men was Marcus’ great great grandfather times ten, Murtaugh McClennan. As the son of a poor potato farmer, the plague had left Murtaugh with an empty, disease-ridden, farm, so he set out to America to make a better life for himself. Starting out as a lowly steel worker, Murtaugh worked his way up and, through careful investing and a little Luck of the Irish, he came to his own steel company: McClennan Steel. Although they came from humble beginnings, the latter generations of McClennans were anything but – becoming some of the most infamous members of society: warmongers, backstabbers, politicians. Everything was deemed as necessary in order to stay in power.

Marcus was born as the second son to Mathias and Jane McClennan. Even then, Marcus’ father was a cold man. As the young leader of McClennan Steel, Mathias had only a brief window of youth before inheriting the company from his father. This sudden transition transformed him from a light hearted young man to the cold, calculating, person the company needed him to be. The only consolation Mathias had was his wife Jane. She was a vibrant woman, attracting the attention of everyone when she walked into the room, and she was the only person who could make Mathias smile. That smile vanished when she died giving birth to Marcus. The death was unexpected, and it took all the doctors had to save the baby.

Marcus spent most of his childhood not seeing much of his father. After his wife’s death, the man engrossed himself in his work and left Marcus and Marcus’ older brother, Matthew, to be raised by a string of step-mothers. None of these women lasted; one in particular was married one night and divorced the next morning. All were beautiful women, but they showed little interest in the boys, and left them to their own devices once their father was out. This formed a strong bond between the two brothers. Matthew was three years older and saw Marcus as someone who needed protection from the big scary world. He took Marcus under his wing and kept him away from their cousins, who bullied Marcus for his small stature.

As they grew older, it became clear that Matthew was their father’s favorite. He was tall, strong, and charismatic – everything that Marcus wished to be. Their father eventually began grooming Matthew to one day inherit, taking him to business meetings, social events, teaching him everything he needed to know to run the company. Marcus eventually filled out, becoming taller and more athletic than most boys at age fifteen, but he never seemed to grow up. He was shy and quiet, preferring the company of books over people, and still sticking to his brother’s shadow. Marcus wasn’t jealous of his brother… he was actually kind of relieved. He wouldn’t have his dad constantly pushing him like he did to Matthew. For a while they were actually a semi-happy family, but that was short lived.

The thing that changed Marcus forever was his brother’s death. On the night of Matthew’s eighteenth birthday he was the victim of a hit and run. The police said that the driver was intoxicated and ran over Matthew before killing himself in a crash a few blocks away. Matthew’s death was a harsh blow to their small family. Like with the death of his wife, Mathias threw himself into his work, finding any excuse to stay at the company. Marcus mourned differently. He began attending parties where there were drugs and alcohol. He found that they were the only way to escape his aching heart. Without his older brother to protect him, Marcus was swallowed up by the big scary world.

When Matthias finally came home, he found his son was someone he no longer recognized. The once sweet boy had transformed into an alcoholic and druggie. He came home one night to find that his son was throwing a party at the McClennan mansion. If the media found out what the heir to McClennan Steel was doing under his father’s nose, it would mean severe consequences for the company. In a bout of anger, Marcus’ father sent him to live an uncle in Beverly Hills. While he would still be receiving money from his father, Marcus was told to never come back to New York.

For the past year, Marcus has been living with his uncle Morgan in Beverly Hills. Morgan had left New York a decade ago with his trust fund and set out to become an artist. Morgan and Matthias are polar opposites. Where Matthias is cold and distant, Morgan is warm and kind. If Marcus wasn’t so intent on ruining himself, he might’ve actually liked the man. Marcus spends most days either drunk or high, loving the nightlife of Beverly Hills.
