Martin Price

Martin stood ready for anything that was coming towards him. It started off looking like one person, but quickly was turning into a lot of people. They all wore similar suits to the one he found earlier. Figures, Team Virtue. They had a cart, loaded with crates full of who knows what. The lights turned on, making Martin reflexively cover his eyes. He was getting too used to the low light of the area, and it was really bright for him. His eyes adjusted again, as he looked at who was talking. It was some girl, just another Team Virtue grunt. No, she was dressed too casually. He had to keep looking at her, before it finally clicked.

He'd seen her before. The one in charge, and made everyone fear her. The one who never gave a care about his town. She only came to Goldshore a few times, never to talk. She was someone high up, and this meant trouble. Martin had the fortune that she thought he was some lost trainer. He scratched the back of his neck, trying to force a smile and a laugh. "You got me. I might have gotten lost along the way. I didn't need to worry about being in the dark when I have Nincada. Based on that cart, I'm guessing the surface is further along this path? But you seem to be lost as me, there is nothing down here but more caves."

It wasn't easy to pretend he wasn't thinking about how well a fight would go. If things go bad, he had an escape rope, and he entered far away from here. Just focus on getting out of here. They can wait a little longer. Even if he wanted to know what was going on. Stay brave, and make sure Trubbish has no reason to fear them.

Clarie couldn't help but to chuckle impishly at Anise's story about Yvonne's little visit to the Gym. It was honestly kind of adorable. She'd have to tease Yvonne about it later. For now though, she focused on the food in front of her and the meal in all. 3,000P in total, but not a huge dent in her wallet, at least. Not with the wins she racked up from catching pokemon and thrashing Hector.

She was pleasantly surprised when Yvonne shared her own contest plans. It was nice to have someone else interested in them at least. It was difficult to get her dad or mother interested too much. Her dad was far to into battles, and mom was much too into Fashion. When Yvonne asked her about her own She confidently smirked. She'd be using Ralia for the beauty/Clever contests, most likely. Lure solely for the Clever, Ritz for the Cute, and she'd yet to entirely fill out her complete roster yet. A work in progress, so to speak.

With all said and done though, Claire would take up Anise's offer to head to route 11 with her towards Mt. Strength. She waved by to Yvonne and told her next time she'd win 100% for sure in a contest.

but for now -

"Uuuugh I forgot an umbrella again." Claire complained loudly, earning a chuckle from Ralia who gave the redhead a pat on the cheek. It wasn't that she didn't think it was a problem. Rather, she had forgotten to get an umbrella in her haste to get going. "Welp, doesn't matter!" Claire quickly shrugged off the rain, energetically bouncing as she held her fists in front of her. "Lets get some training in on our way to Rainrock. I won't let a little rain ruin my motivation no sir!" A kid on a bike sped past, right through a puddle of water only to send a small wave splashing right towards Claire, completely drenching her.

"Sorry!" They called back, Claire frowning in mild discomfort.

"...remind me to buy an umbrella in Rainrock will ya?"

"Rrrral!~"

"I'll take that as an affirmative. Alright! Wet or dry lets get started! Tally-ho onwards to adventure and all that Anise!" They could likely gain only a little from the wild pokemon here, but training was training, regardless. No sense in not doing it if you were there! Besides, she needed a bit of money to refill her wallet after that meal. Several Zigzagoons, Pidoves, and Budews later she was doing reasonably well and had made reasonable progress towards Rainrock. She hoped at least. It'd be a shame to have to turn around for a little bad weather.

The only thing slowing her down a bit, was some trainers.

Lass Jessica wants to battle!

A pidgey...right, she should invest in an electric or ice type. She'd use Ralia first, of course. Standard Strategy using Double Team first, followed by using confusion until defeated. Use standard Teleport tactics if possible or needed to avoid a blow. If Accuracy has been lowered in any fashion, will switch to Disarming Voice. If Ralia gets critically injured or faints, switch to Ritz and finish them off with a well placed Comet-Punch or tackle

As for Shroomish, assuming everything goes mostly right, Switch to Lure. After some difficulty and complaints about the rain, will use Gust on both Shroomish and Claire until the former is defeated or the latter is annoyed to death. Will use flying and height to her advantage. If somehow damaged critically or defeated, will switch back to Ralia to finish the job with Confusion if possible, or use Del and use Fury Attack.

Moving on to Cottonee, if everything has gone as planned switch to Beedrill. Use a combination of poison sting and string shot to finish off the Cottonee. If critically inured or fainted, switch to Ritz and finish off with a combination of Comet Punch, Tackle, and Supersonic.

Return quickly to the pokemon center once battle is done, if most of her pokemon are roughed up a bit. (Also pick up an umbrella)

Moving onto the Cyclist -

Start with Ralia since it's a Flying type. Start with Standard strategy. Double Team and Confusion. Teleport to dodge an attack or two if possible. If things go badly, switch to Beedrill and use string shot to immobilize, following it up with a well placed Poison Sting.

Once Shinx is out, switch to Ritz. Use Supersonic and a combination of Comet Punch and Tackle to hopefully win. Use flight to his advantage and attempt to attack from blind spots. If it goes badly, switch back to Beedrill and use a combination of Harden, Poison Sting (Until/If they are poisoned) Then switch to Fury Attack. Alternate Harden with Attacking. (Harden - Attack - Harden - Attack)

Once Venipede is used, switch back to Ralia. Double team followed by Confusion. Standard strategy. Use Teleport to dodge the more damaging rollout attacks if possible.

Once done, hurry along to Rainrock if her pokemon aren't too terribly damaged.

"If that's what you prefer, then we'll stay here for the night. I guess I'll have to go to bed a bit earlier then usual. I'm a bit of a night owl so I usually only go to sleep at... midnight I think... I guess I just go to bed whenever." Amelia said, looking thoughtful at the last bit of her thought. She didn't dwell on it for long though and just shrugged before looking back at Dawkin and smiling. "Either way, once we're done here, I think it's best that we just relax at the pokemon center for the time being. Set off tomorrow and maybe we'll reach the next route by sundown. The maps make it look rather long, so I think it'll take more then a day to make the journey.

But you're free to do as you wish. I can't stop you.
"

No matter what Dawkin decided to do, once her cloths where done drying, Amelia would return to the pokemon center and spend the rest of the day and the night there. When morning came, she took a quick shower before going out to find Dawkin, wearing a plain white t-shirt today to go with her jeans and shoes.
"How do people get up so early in the day?" She asked no one in particular before letting out a yawn.

Regardless of how Dawkin responded to this, the moment he turned his back to Amelia, her Phantump would silently float around her and slowly and silently approach Dawkin's back before shouting as loudly as it could.

Dawkin Trustram

Dakwin noted that Amelia seemed to be rather against the very thought of forcing him to do anything, despite the fact that he'd made it clear several times that he intended to stick with her. Hm. "Alright then, I'll see you in the morning then." With that he walked out and began heading towards the Wet Caverns. The river blocking them previously would hopefully have some water Pokemon, other than Wooper, that he could train his Pichu against. It made sense to train Pichu right now since he was the most recent addition to the team. Of course if Dawkin couldn't find a suitable chance to engage any water Pokemon, simply training on Route 5 against whatever he happened to find would work as well. The next morning he snagged a quick breakfast and made his way to the Pokemon center. He had woken sufficiently early so as to arrive slightly before Amelia, though he only had to wait a scant few minutes before she showed up. He smiled sympathetically at her question, on account his brothers he had no trouble getting up very early and/or very suddenly for a variety of reasons. "You'll find screaming children tend to do the trick. Do you need any-

GAH!

Dawkin shouted and whirled around, "How'd you pesky-" His sentence cut off as he realized it was in fact not Thing 1(the younger twin) nor Thing 2(the older twin) behind him. Just some ghost Pokemon. "Ahem. Sorry about that. I suspected one of my little brothers had somehow managed to trail me. I assume this hooligan belongs to you?" Dawkin asked, looking at the holligan in question sternly.

Erika proceeded to the mining camp and had a brief discussion with several of the miners, who all seemed to be in a chipper mood. The advice she received was very helpful and thanking the person before moving onto the next, she eventually painted a little picture of how things worked. Unfortunately, it seemed like a Dawn Stone was going to be a tough find, judging by the advice of one. Still, Erika was not discouraged as she continued to talk with several other people before finding the miner's lodge. The miner explained the basics and could offer a fair bit of advice, maybe with that she might try mining on her own a bit? At the very least, it does promise to find interesting new Pokemon considering that they are apparently found in the ice. Who knows what she'd find?

Moving onto the shop, Erika was already prepared to not find a Dawn Stone but what she didn't expect was to be recognized. It had been awhile but Erika took a long stare at the man's face before it suddenly clicked. "Oh! Isaac! Hi!" Erika excitedly greeted the family friend, slightly embarrassed at how long it took her to recognize the man. Her mother's favorite thing was to tell and exchange stories in Cooldome City, recounting epic tales and the like with different people. Isaac was one of those although his stories were more about the Frozen Cavern but they were still interesting. It added a mystique to the Frozen Cavern that Erika had hoped one day to see. Of course now she had the chance.

"Yes! I'm finally following my mother's footsteps but I still have a ways to go!" Erika replied a bit bashfully as the man spoke. Then Erika felt quite disarmed by his offer to pick anything in the store. "Aww Isaac that's really nice of you! Thank you!" Erika felt thrilled about the prospect of a gift and that was twice now that she felt like she owed people something. She'd have to find a way to at least show her appreciate sometime.

Taking a glance down at the items, she hadn't considered any of these things before and even admittingly, had no idea what some of this stuff did. There was an eventual decision to pick a fossil, seeing as Erika's quest for a Dawn Stone might eventually lead her to Raremine Town. She hoped she'd be able to find a stone before that but who knows. Considering each fossil, Erika had really no idea what extinct Pokemon was stored within which made the planning part of this rather difficult. So she just ended up playing a game in her head to eventually choose the Jaw Fossil. "Uhh.. I guess I will choose this one. Thank you so much, Isaac!" Erika thanked him again before considering her own curiosity.

"So umm.. Isaac. I think I'm going to try mining because I'm trying to find a Dawn Stone so I can evolve my Snorunt into a Froslass. However, I really don't know where to look. Is there anywhere in particular I should search you think?" Erika would ask and thank him for advice no matter how he responded before leaving.

Considering all the advice she had at this point, she figured it was time to out mining and returned to the Miner's Lodge to investigate the possibility of her mining somewhere. She'd consider Isaac's advice above all the other advice she received and get the appropriate tools and map before setting off to wherever she might try her luck.

@Pikmin Eye

The woman flashed a kind(?) smile upon hearing Martin’s explanation, her eyes focusing hard on him. Then, the slightest of a chuckle left her mouth as he implied she was as lost at him.

‘You don’t need to worry about us. But, no, getting to the surface is a bit more complicated than just treading along the right path,’ she said, walking a few steps closer to Martin, to a more personal conversational distance. Of course, with the light behind her like this, all her features were cast in shadow to him.

‘I congratulate you on finding the Vast Underground, but I must insist you don’t come back. Far bigger and far more dangerous things than Durants lurk in these depths, and they might just take offense to this smell rather than flee it. I can’t in good conscience let you walk on.’ So she said, taking out a Pokéball and opening it. With a flash, a one-and-a-half meter tall(woah!?) green, sage-like bird-Pokémon took shape, staring at Martin expressionlessly from beside his trainer.

Pokédex Entry #178 – Xatu, the Mystic Pokémon. It carries the mystic ability to see both the past and future, yet it stays rooted in place all day long. From the moment the sun rises, it stays still eyeing the sun’s movements until sunset, meditating. Legends say it sees a terrible future it cannot change, and so it doesn’t move.

There was a certain shift in pressure around the Xatu, like the Psychic power was emanating from the Pokémon. Estimated level… high.

‘Don’t worry. Gather your Pokémon. My partner will teleport you out,’ she declared, still with her kind(?) smile. She wasn’t asking.

‘Or, if you want to insist you can handle yourself, how about a Pokémon battle to ease my worries?’ she then suggested in a kind(?) but foreboding tone, smile not changing, hand on her hip. The grunts at the cart all became noticeably alarmed with this statement, starting to pull the cart backwards away from her.

Team Virtue Admin Ivory would like to battle?

‘Alright, so I’m on my own,’ Yvonne confirmed. ‘Suppose I’ll settle for flooring all the competition in Normal Contests first, then,’ she smirked intently, after having understood that Claire was going to take off. ‘100% of that was all bark, Claire. I look forward to seeing your bite!’ Yvonne replied with a raised chin and confident smirk, as Claire ran off.

And, yeah, because Claire ran off so immediately Anise had to hurry too, which meant she didn’t have an umbrella either, and she didn’t look too happy to be rained on.

‘Uuuugh, guess I’ll train a bit.’ She choose to do so among the trees, that exist on route 11 while Claire was battling, because there was cover there.

Meanwhile, Claire was challenging trainers!

Lass Jessica first.

Ralia VS Pidgey. So, turns out Pidgey was awful at hitting Ralia after that Double Team. It shot sand and gusts at multiple clones, but was unable to actually land a hit on Ralia before being defeated by Confusion. Jessica was now intimidated.

‘Y-you’re not, like, one of those super-strong trainers, right?’ she had to ask before taking up her next Pokéball.

Lure VS Shroomish. Turns out Gust is amazing at getting rid of Stun Spores and Leech Seeds midair, all logic in consideration. Shroomish was helpless to get support-moves in and then could but do a few, very not very effective Absorbs that hardly hurt Lure before being defeated.

Lure grew to Level 12!

Del VS Cottonee. Del did get paralyzed by Stun Spore, but in turn got off a very super effective Poison Sting that poisoned his opponent. In panic Jessica went ahead with the plan to Fairy Winding directly after that. Del took significant damage, but slowing Cottonee down with String Shot and then Poison Stinging again led to his victory.

Claire was victorious! Claire gained 420P for winning!

‘Aaaah… Now I’m soaked and defeated…’ Jessica lamented, before returning to dashing back to Redcoast City.

Then Cyclist Eric.

Ralia VS Pidove. “Gust” was apparently not a hard order for Pidove to grasp. Ralia’s Double Team was largely unsuccessful, wind was hard to dodge, though Teleport to relocate saved some damage. While both Pidove and Ralia hit, Ralia did way more damage on average and Pidove was swiftly defeated. Ralia is a little over half health.

Ritz VS Shinx. Leer and Supersonic both hit but unfortunately Shinx shook off the confusion with relative ease and was able to counter Ritz. Ritz was higher level and had better moves, but Shinx had naturally high attack with Leer cancelling out the Rivalry loss. Ultimately, Ritz had to be switched out to prevent fainting, but Del then faced a Shinx on her last legs. Del easily won, tactics not really necessary.

Del grew to Level 12!

Ralia VS Venipede. Sooo, Rollout isn’t exactly logically a high-accuracy move. Ralia was Screeched, defense mortally depleted, but that meant nothing if Venipede couldn’t hit. Venipede rolled at the clones, but couldn’t hit the real one, and Ralia’s Super Effective Confusion took down Venipede’s health really quickly. Ralia won with fair ease, though being already hurt from Pidove combined with Screech would have meant a single hit would have been it. Now that didn’t happen, though.

Ralia grew to Level 14! Ralia learned Lucky Chant!

Claire was victorious! Claire gained 347P for winning!

‘Oooh! Hardcore you are, confirmed! Now I gotta swing by Redcoast City before heading on to Route 12! Good continued luck!’ Eric wished her, before cycling on.

And with that, she was free to join up with Anise (who was looking really pleased with herself) and head on towards a new city, awaiting at the top of a steep climb up the base of Mt. Strength. A new city which it happened to be raining on.

So, before going to bed Dawkin went off to train in the Wet Caver-

To train against water Pokémon in the river of Wet Cav-

To train in Wet C-

In W-

These work as fodder for an electric Pokémon too, right?

ZAP.

Pichu grew to Level 7!

… Okay. So. There are Goldeens in the water, quite apt for a Pichu to train against. Should go pretty well.

Pichu grew to Level 9!

Goldeens take offense to being zapped, and several attacked back, so Pichu’s considerably damaged now. Overall, perhaps a chance to gain some friendship points? Maybe.

Otherwise, Dawkin headed back, went to bed, woke up, got spooked, the rest of it.

@Pirouette

‘Alright! One Jaw Fossil, coming right up!’ Isaac smiled happily as he deposited 4000P of his own and then handed over the fossil to Erika.

Erika obtained a Jaw Fossil!

‘Dawn Stone, eh,’ Isaac said as he considered. ‘They’re evasive little things. They do show up sometimes, but I don’t know I can give advice for how to find one.’ He scratched his beard as he thought about it. ‘But I can point you to where we’ve more frequently found stones. It’s deeper in, after a left-turn, and-’ Isaac started describing the way to an underground(ice?) mining area where they tend to find stones of kinds. ‘It’s not the only thing they find there, but yeah. It’s close to the Frozen Cave proper, don’t wander in by mistake!’ He chuckled at that.

Back at the Miner’s Lodge (much better name), they were wary about giving someone as young as Erika actual machines, but she could have a pickaxe and a helmet. She was also asked if she had a fire-Pokémon that could help her with excavating, and, yeah, she does. Chic’s Ember will do. She also got a bag with wheels for if she found a lot. She was assured that the pickaxe would do, the ice isn’t hard to mine.

Following Isaac’s instructions, she headed further into the cavern ice-valley, and could see miners with varying fighting- and fire-types helping excavate. There were Machops and Machokes, Timburrs and Conkedurrs, some Geodudes with pickaxes, a couple Ponytas and a few Vulpixes, one had a Flareon. All helping their trainers get into the ice.

Erika’s directions turned her left in a split further along time mine. It led to a smaller cave, frozen in ice, that was a bit rough and she had to be careful not to slip. There were still a couple miners down here, but this smaller mine was where she had been directed, so it was simply to start. There was a tiny purple Pokémon just standing by one wall, seemingly wild, just inspecting its reflection in the ice.

Pokédex Entry #238 – Smoochum, the Kiss Pokémon. Its lips are the most sensitive part of its body, and it uses them to identify new things. It is energetic and constantly runs about, though trips often. It tends to be conscious about its appearance, stopping by any reflective surface to ensure it hasn’t gotten dirty.

To her right, there was a path in. Deeper in. It was darker, but still not dark due to all the ice. It was more foreboding, for there lay Frozen Cave, tunnels. The path that was called “a challenge for those who wish to travel to Cooldome”, and coming through was in itself proof you were worthy to visit Cooldome City. … If you didn’t just buy a ticket on the train through the regular tunnel on the other side of the mountain, of course.

Anyways! That’s not what Erika was here for, mining!

So, with a pickaxe, possibly with Chic or other Pokémon helping her, Erika started mining. True to their word, the ice fell off easily to these sharp axes. There were plenty of promising-looking shapes in the ice, but most turned out to be regular rocks. But, as she hacked in, she saw a shape in there that was beside the ordinary. It was… a very odd Pokémon.

It’s frozen solid in the ice. Will Erika do anything? She could carefully free the Pokémon, continue mining, or do something else.

Connected areas:
Route 5. Exit the mines and you’ll be right there.
Frozen Cave. The Frozen Cave proper awaits beyond the mine.

Erika replayed the steps Isaac had provided, trying to recount the order in her head to make sure she didn't forget. Once she was sure she got it, she tackled the negotation for her to rent equipment to start to mine, scoring a pickax and a helmet. Swapping her hat for a helmet, she slung her pickax over her shoulder. She stepped out and decided to let Chic out of her Pokeball. "Hey there, Chic-a-dee! Wanna help me with little mining, girl?" Erika asked, crouching down to her Torchic. "Tooor-Chic!" Chic responded, flapping her little wings. She must have appreciated coming out of her Pokeball and in an effort to please all her team, Erika planned to keep that in mind to let everyone a chance to breath.

Erika ruffled the feathers on top of Chic's head before proceeding on. Chic paced behind her, stopping to gaze at the miner's and their Pokemon working before either realizing she was falling behind or by Erika's call to keep up would have her scurrying forward to catch up. Erika, too, was stealing a few glances at the miner's to kind of figure out how they were working but also to catch a glimpse of the Pokemon they were using. Each new Pokemon Erika spotted had her briefly fantasize about that particular Pokemon on her team, wondering what it would be like.

When Erika spotted the Smoochum, eyeing itself in the mirror she stopped and took a scan, unsure of what it was exactly and encouraged by the fact that it looked wild. "Smoochum, Ice and Psychic type, huh." Erika considered that information for a moment before eventually deciding to pass by, waving at the mirrored ice to the Smoochum. Chic, following behind, copied Erika's wave with her own ruffle of feathers and chirping a call as she carried on.

Finding a spot that was approximately right where Isaac had directed her, Erika began to get to work mining away at the ice. She asked Chic to help her out by using Ember on the ice to weaken it occasionally. Erika was quite surprised by the actual move of Ember as she Chic breathed a small breath of fire, rather than just showered small embers at the target. The heat from the fire and Erika's body warming up from the activity had her remove her jacket, removing a layer so that her pink shirt was now plainly visible. Stuffing her jacket in her bag, and placing it aside she continued work.

After a few boring rocks, they finally found something that was certainly unique. Frozen in the ice was something squidish. Erika didn't hazard a guess, however, and immediately retrieved her Pokedex, scanning the frozen Pokemon. "Inkay, dark and psychic. Wow. That's a pretty unique typing, I think..." Again, Erika considered the cuddly-looking squid in the ice for a moment before she smiled and turned to Chic. "Alright, Chic, think you can melt Inkay out of this? I think we are going to try for another team member here."

Chic fluttered and called as she let forth a few breaths of fire, melting the ice until it become very weak. At that point, Erika gently pried it apart and pulled Inkay out of the ice. Erika cradled Inkay, holding the cold and now wet Pokemon to her chest, to try and warm him/her up. "Whew! I bet'cha are a bit cold, huh Inkay?" Erika asked as she glanced down, offering a warm smile to her potential teammate. "You alright?" Erika asked as she set Inkay down at some point when she believed the Inkay was warm enough. Assuming they were, since Erika didn't know what a Pokemon coming out of a long freeze felt, Erika would crouch down and offer her invitation. "Hey Inkay, how would you like to join my team? I'd love for you to be a part of it if you want to!"

Amelia couldn't help but laugh a bit at Dawkin's reaction to Phantump's surprise shout. Said pokemon found this absolutely hilarious and was laughing rather loudly as she floated back to her trainer, who gently scooped her up into her arms.
"Yep, this little one is my Phantump. She likes to scare people. I would've warned you, but if she failed, she would keep on trying to do so until she succeeded in doing so. So I just did what I could to get it done and over with for you. I doubt she'll try again unless your reaction is worth trying to get an encore of." Amelia said, petting the little phantom, who was looking awfully pleased right now. After a few seconds, Amelia got out Phantump's pokeball. "Alright, say good-bye. We don't need the wrong kind of people finding out about you and taking you away do we?"

"Phan." Phantump replied, looking up at her trainer before looking at Dawkin and waving her little arms. "Phan, Phantump!"

"You'll be out with the others again soon as we get into the route a bit, okay?" Amelia said before returning her friend to her pokeball. After making sure it was safe and secure, she turned to Dawkin. "So... shall we get going?"

Smoochum noted them waving in the reflection, and without turning she made a tiny salute and a wink before turning and running back into the Frozen Cave tunnels.

Erika was afterwards excavating the Inkay she found. Inkay was gently melted out of the ice, and then Erika could take it out and held the cold Pokémon, the not-water Pokémon slowly warming in her grasp.

‘… Nkay…?’ It asked, looking up curiously as its eyes started working again, blinking and wiggling a little in Erika’s grasp.

As she was asking “you alright” a nearby miner noticed what she was doing, blinked a bit and raised his hand and voice towards her.

‘Eh, you might want to be careful there. Recently excavated Pokémon have a tendency to-’

‘I-INKAY!’ The Pokémon suddenly vanished in a flash, before a dark energy-beam (Foul Play) flew through Erika’s grasp, which actually was Inkay itself. The attack went in-between Erika’s arms and exited above her head, not actually hitting her but was quite close to doing so.

‘-attack,’ the miner finished with a grimace, a touch too late.

‘I-inkay-!’ The panicked Pokémon was now drifting through the air above and behind Erika, eyeing her and Chic with wide eyes. If left to be long enough, it’d start setting up Reflect-barriers.

If Dawkin scanned

Pokédex Entry #708 – Phantump, the Stump Pokémon. Said to be stumps possessed by the spirits of children who died lost in forests. Found mainly in lonely forests where humans don’t tread, they can lead humans astray with their eerie cries that imitate a human child’s. The leaves on its head are said to have healing properties.

Meanwhile, Amelia has seen both these Pokémon before, one is the most common Pokémon in town, but for the sake of consistency.

Pokédex Entry #172 – Pichu, the Tiny Mouse Pokémon. It can store electricity in its cheeks, but it's unstable, and may accidentally discharge upon startled or feeling other emotions that my cause it to lose focus. When playing with other Pichu, they touch tails and set off sparks as a test of courage.

Pokédex Entry #194 – Wooper, the Water Fish Pokémon. It lives in cold water, sleeping on the bottom and seeking food by the shore when it's cold. When walking above water, wild Woopers cover their bodies with a slimy, poisonous film that keeps them from dehydrating. It's slightly dull-witted.

The first battle against Jessica went about as well as she expected. Ralia took care of Pidgey with almost no trouble at all, not even the gust managing to land a solid hit. Lure took care of Shroomish excellently, though the little bug gave her some trouble in the short run. Del had a bit of trouble with Cottonee, but the fairy type could do little against against the poison type in the long run.

The next battle against Eric went a little less smoothly.

Pidove managed to pull off a few good hits with gust, the Double Team not doing much to dissuade the attack from being effective. The clones, sensing their mild uselessness took to instead comically letting themselves be blow around by the gusts until the battle was over. The battle against Shinx went a lot less smoothly. Ritz got off the confusion, but unfortunately it didn't seem to faze Shinx much. The bug type did his best, but ultimately had to be pulled. Del finished them off easily afterwards. Ralia managed to finish off Venipde with relative ease, the double team meaning Rollout could easily be dodged and dealt with.

In the end though, she won and finally made her way to Rainrock city.

"Oh wow!" Rainrock was absolutely gorgeous. Despite the rain and by now being thoroughly soaked, the place was amazing. There was always a certain charm to rainy days and places like this. The gentle sound of rain hitting the rocks was definitely a sound she found pleasing. "Hmm...oh, Hey Ritz." The Ledyba was currently tucked away in her arms, stealing Ralia's usual spot, though she didn't seem to mind since she found a good riding spot on her shoulder. "Hey, we'll get you to a pokemon center and get you all patched up, alright?" Claire said patting the bug type on his head. "...and get an Umbrella too." She chuckled as Anise began to inform her of where Mt. Strength was.

Whew, it was a bit of a walk away wasn't it? She'd want to go there first before trying another gym battle, but it'd be silly to not take in the sites of the city first.

"Hmm...well, lets see. How about we first stop by the pokemon center and get our pokemon patched up. Wanna by an umbrella and stop by the mart, too. I've bee neglecting my potions and stuff."

Unless stopped, head to the pokemon center and then to the pokemart and buy an Umbrella and look at some potions and stuff.

Heading to the Pokémon Center. At the very least the Pokémon Center seemed to have the same design no matter where it was, easily recognizable over a distance and easy to get to, even under the rain of Rainrock City.

Now, there was actually a bunch of trainers in here, because Rainrock City’s the way between Redcoast City to Pureplain City.

There’s conversations going on around her, not necessarily directed at her but perhaps she’ll overhear a bit.

‘Other than being full of Rock-Pokémon, the Rainrock Caves are filled with a bunch of weird plates, engraved in ancient times. There are engravings on each that we’re still trying to read. They’re studying at the Rainrock Academy, I wonder if they’ve found anything?’
‘There’s been a lot of lightning around Route 11 lately. Fortunately, those Pokémon seem to attract the lightning, meaning the bolts never do much damage. Fortunate, that.’

Anyways, that aside. She found the Pokémart soon enough, and it’s an older building, tight between the shelves yet still very much a Pokémart.

Umbrella is 100P.

She can buy things she need and then head on. What would she do now?

Connected areas:
Route 3. To the south, the route around the mountain, leading to Route 4 or Highhill Town. A wet woodland.
Route 11. A semi-populated road west under heavy rainfall, starting with a descent down towards Redcoast City. Abandoned buildings on the south side facing Silent Forest.

Martin Price

Martin's journey through the Vast Underground was being told to come to an end. The woman in front of him pulled out a Xatu, and he could already tell he didn't have a chance, for now. His options was to try and take on an opponent much stronger than him, or take her offer and be taken to the surface. Based on the grunts moving the cart for more room, they knew this was going to get bad. "How nice of you to offer me a way back to the surface, but I never caught your name. I'm afraid you might be too worried. Just some Pokemon down here, and it's nice to be wandering around here. Although, it's a good idea to take some advice and get out of here. I'm starting to feel like a caveman being down here for so long, ha ha."

Martin still had his key card, and made a promise to Trubbish to get them out of here. He called Nincada and Trubbish back to their Pokeballs. He needed to go training before he came back. The next time they meet, he was going to wipe that smile off her face. Remind her that Goldshire wasn't a place to mess with. "Alright, so you're going to use Teleport?" Martin had an Escape Rope ready in case she was making an excuse to get his guard down. He never trusted Team Virtue fully.

Action: Let the woman send Martin out of the Vast Underground.

Dawkin Trustram

"Whew Pichu, you really put in some work." Dawkin said. The toasted Pokemon the little guy had left in his wake was quite impressive to say the least. Frankly Dawkin was expecting the Pichu to be fairly weak, and that it would've have been better for him to grab a Pikachu instead, but he was preforming quite well. Of course it was only against wild Pokemon but still. Not like 'only wild pokemon' had nearly killed him earlier today'. He crouched down next to the somewhat winded Pichu. "As a reward I think I'll trust you to hold onto something for me." Dawkin fished a shiny scale out of his bag and held it out for the Pichu to look at, tilting it to reflect the light upon its dazzling surface. "Sound good?" Pichu let out a chirp and grabbed the shiny scale, seemingly fascinated by it and Dawkin smiled. "Now let's turn in, we have a long day tommorow."

Dawkin couldn't hope to maintain a glower with Amelia and her trouble-maker laughing at him. "Heheh, Well I hope my reaction doesn't inspire that particular move again." As a matter of reflex Dawkin scanned the Pokemon, glancing at the entry and showing a hint of surprise. "Oh? Your Phantump doesn't match the one in the Pokedex, that's quite interesting... Guess I'll have to updated mine eh?" Dawkin said with a joking grin.

"We don't need the wrong kind of people finding out about you and taking you away do we."

The coloration must be a rare thing and where rare Pokemon existed, so were people hunting them. Dawkin could understand her concern for wanting to keep something like that under wraps, which was part of why he didn't inquire further about it. Plus... She seemed like she really cared for it. "You're right, let's get going."

Actions: Head out to Route 6

Amelia and Dawkin left the Pokémon Center and headed out towards Route 5.

As they left, they just barely missed the local officers hurrying into the Pokémon Center. Dawkin and Amelia remained unaware of the number of neighbors had been awoken by a frightful cry which had echoed ghastly across the buildings, leaving chilled families wondering of the origin of this cry. It wasn’t a Pokémon move, what had it been? Was it possible that it was the scream of an actual ghost?

While a Ghost-Pokémon was theorized, nobody ever found such a ghost (and the Pokémon of the little girl who stayed there recently hadn’t appeared hostile enough to possibly be the culprit), nor had anyone found the remains of the male who’s shout of terror that had accompanied. While the police rightly discarded the wild stories for more plausible explanations (one of which was very close to the truth), the legend remained.

Over the following days many people started claiming to hear recurring screaming. Before long, this was followed with actual screaming from copycats feeding from the legend for fun and amusement. Stories were invented featuring the tragic tale of a boy and girl meeting a terrible end and nobody ever saw them ever again. And naturally, the stories became more and more twisted the more time passed.

Legend turned into myth. While neighbors slept uneasy thinking the area was haunted, tourists came to try to hear the screams. Merchandise appeared, books about the legend was written and a fairly popular movie was produced by a Justroad City star. It became so popular a legend that a night a year was picked in Lakewatch Town to be the “Screaming Night”, where Pokémon and people were encouraged to scream as loudly as they could at midnight, disturbing the world, and it became a tradition people would flock to experience for a hundred years to come, the event single-handedly putting Lakewatch Town back on the map as a place to visit.

The original case of the “Lakewatch Center Screams” would forever remain unresolved…

But before all of that!

Amelia and Dawkin headed through Route 5 and headed south, where the trees eventually stopped, the sky opened up, and the world that opened up in front of them was so… vast…

Amelia couldn't help but look surprised when Dawkin brought up that Phantump didn't match the image in the pokedex. However, she decided not to speak of it until they left town.
"You don't know about shiny pokemon?" She asked, looking up at him as they walked. "It's kind of like a condition that some pokemon have that given them a different coloration then the rest of their kind. Sometimes it minor, like their a shade darker or lighter. Other times it's like Phantump, who looks drastically different from the rest of her kind. But it's an incredibly rare from what my teacher said, with only one in several thousand pokemon being that way."

Assuming they didn't stop anywhere on Route 5, when they reached Route 6 Amelia gasped in awe at the Route before them.
"This is so pretty!" She said, looking around at all the pokemon and scanning them with her pokedex. "Getting through here might be a bit tough, but just the landscape alone makes up for that."

The trip to the pokemon center was a short one, with Claire's usual gusto. She didn't linger long past getting her pokemon healed. Not to mention she was now soaked from the rain, and really wanted that umbrella. So as soon as her pokemon were healed she made her way to the mart. Boy, everything was expensive. Or maybe she was just broke? Probably that.

"Hmm...see anything you want girl?" Claire asked Ralia, picking up an umbrella from the rack where they were kept. "I need some more pokeballs...hmm..." Great balls would be good, but they're so expensive! She could use a few potions too. Well, she didn't need any revives and she already had an antidote from earlier so she could scratch those off the list. Repels? And who would need repels! She laughed in the face of danger! Nope, no repels and escape ropes here!

...come to think of it how did escape ropes work anyways? Oh well.

Didn't really need any other status recovery items either.

"Well, let's get some Great Balls and a few super potions."

In the end she ended up buying six great balls and three super potions. Now that her small shopping spree was over with.

"So!" She confidently turned to Anise. "Lead the way to Mt. Strength!"

Dawkin Trustram

"Really? I don't think I've ever-" Dawkin cut off his own sentence as he thought back to the Infested Woods and the incident where he'd ended up helping Martin. The Queen that Karlos had refereed to... He was pretty sure it'd been oddly colored too. "I may have seen one before, but I've never really studied it much." Given what he knew, it was likely that shiny Pokemon weren't just rare, they were outliers from the rest of their species. He wondered if Phantump differed from others of its kind in anything other than color as well. Something to dwell on later when he had more experience with such things. They passed through Route 5 without incident and arrived at Route 6.

The two of them spent a moment simply looking at the vast area in front of them. Truly deserving of the name. Even from here he could see quite a few Pokemon, which he took the luxury of scanning, using his Pokedex's range as best he could. There were quite a few Pokemon here that could help round out his team. From the looks of things... it wouldn't be as simple as following a road to the next town. Some of the Pokemon here were fully evolved and likely quite stronger than anything they could handle. Of course hardly had the thought crossed his mind when his eyes fell on the trainer whose Pokemon was currently fighting... an entire herd of Tauros? Dawkin couldn't quite make out either of them from here but the Tauros being tossed aside one by one confirmed that they were losing. Dawkin spent a moment in thought. No, there was no point in heading over there. Such a person would have no business with the likes of them and was clearly rather busy.

"We best be careful. I have 2 repels on hand if we need them but I'd rather save them for obvious reasons." He paused briefly to watch a Rapidash race across the plains. A Ponyta... would be a nice catch. Dawkin could already how useful the Fire Horse Pokemon could be. However he was here to help Amelia and that should remain his top priority. "My Pokemon aren't much good for intimidation, though Wooper can fight against several Pokemon here well enough, some of the bigger ones could prove a problem regardless of typing. Perhaps it would be best to see if we could get some advice regarding crossing the plains before attempting it?" The plains were quite an intimidating sight and Dawkin felt gathering information could prove quite helpful here. Better to be over than under prepared after all.

Martin mentioned never having caught the woman’s name, and…

‘… You don’t need to know that,’ she replied, due to reasons that her name could be used to track her down and she doesn’t want that despite that the GM having leaked her name for an intimidating line. She saw no reason to reply to the rest Martin said. Then, as Martin had retrieved his Pokémon she simply made a gesture with her hand, and Xatu jumped forward to Martin, touching him with a wing.

‘Be mindful of where you wander in the future.’ With those parting words, the woman waved to him a little, though to her he’d simply been a minor obstacle to remove from her path. He’d suddenly feel like the world started spinning, all the sights around swirling around him, the caves blurring into black and white lines from the spin, and then…

The lights changed in tone, and suddenly the loud noises of chattering humans and distant music came to his ears, and buildings in a dark environment took shape. As he came to a stop, he found himself standing in front of a Pokémon City in an unfamiliar city. Lights of a big city were shining out advertisements, and the people around took no note to him teleporting in, it was a common occurrence. Factories stood in the distance, letting out smoke from whatever productions they were doing. But, most notable of all, it probably didn’t feel like he had actually left the cave, for above him something was still obscuring the sun.

Looking up, however, revealed that what was obscuring the sun was a city suspended above another city, and that made it clear that there was only a single place in Isson where he could possibly have found himself. In fact, depending on how much he has travelled in the past and which route he took to get to Pureplain City, he could very likely have passed through this city on the way.

6 Great Balls and 3 Super Potions equate to 5700P. 5800 P with the umbrella.

Moving on. They went over a rock bridge over the southern Rainrock river and then went down some stairs into the wet forest south of Rainrock. And here, here it was definitely raining.

If nothing on Route 3 are the slightest interesting, then Claire can simply follow Anise as she takes an immediate step left, and they could be off Route 3 in only a couple of steps. The rain finally clears, as they walk into a forest with a pleasant breeze.

Dawkin Trustram

Dawkin listened carefully to the women and her rather helpful advice. She gave them a recommendation on how to deal with every Pokemon they might encounter. He smiled in response to her blatant shilling, "Ah well I thank you for your advice, but it'd be a shame not to put it to good use wouldn't it? I think we'll see how the plains treat us on our own, maybe another time." Dawkin said to the kind women and turned away. "It seems we have a plan of action for anything we might run into. Shall we?" Dawkin asked, gesturing to the wide open plains ahead of them. He would implement the Rapidash owner's advice for anything they ran into: and also keep an eye out to see if there was an opportune moment to catch a Ponyta. Probably not since doing so would raise the wrath of the accompanying Rapidash but... He'd look for it all the same.

Amelia followed Dawkin as he visited the Rapidash ranch, listening to the lady as she spoke to them. She was fine with letting Dawkin take the lead here, incase there was anything he wanted to do on the route. She kept looking around at the route as the lady talked though, but she didn't miss a word that was said. When Dawkin declined to lady's offer to let them ride her Rapidash for a fee, she gave the lady a kind smile of her thanks before turning to Dawkin.
"Yes, I guess we shall." She said, a kind smile on her face. Deep down, she was a nervous wreck. She hoped that nothing came after them and chased them around. She couldn't run very far and if she tried to push herself too far, she would just cause her heart to act up, possibly putting Dawkin and herself in a worse situation. "Let's try to take things slow and steady. Make sure not to cause any probems for the pokemon here. Especially the more... hot-blooded kind."
