Hello!
Thank you for expressing an interest or even just skimming through! My name is Fabricant451 and as someone that grew up with the Harry Potter books and later movies, I've always enjoyed the world. But when it comes to Harry Potter RPs I've always found an overabundance of stories set in Hogwarts either post-Potter, the era of the Marauders, or even some AU shenanigans. And while I respect that and totally love the Hogwarts setting, there are other schools out there with their own stories to tell. Which, of course, is where this RP comes in! Me and my co-GM @Universorum have been discussing and planning this RP and we are both excited to finally let it spread its wings!
Mahoutokoro is established as one of the schools for young witches and wizards in the Harry Potter universe and will be the setting for this RP. There isn't a whole lot of established lore or 'canon' with the Mahoutokoro setting so some liberties were taken though it is my, and my co-GM's intention, to keep it close to authentic as we can. Which is to say that though this is a school where magical girls attend, it isn't some magical girl school. Moreover, I'm not simply trying to have it be Hogwarts but with a Japanese coat of paint. While the courses might be familiar, the school shouldn't be because we'll be exploring it together! Some familiar trappings will be there. A House Cup. A Sorting. Quidditch. But on the whole this is meant to be an RP where we as a group make our own stories of witchcraft and wizardry in a different corner of the Harry Potter world.
As such, this RP will not immediately be about students confronting evil wizards. While there might be whispers and mentions of darker things going on, the majority of this RP will be students interacting and growing as both people and wizards. Voldemort wasn't the immediate presence in Book One, but there where still whispers, as an example of the type of tone. There will be 'events' such as trips to Tokoro Town - think of it as this school's version of Hogsmeade - or school wide social events, and I encourage people to suggest any ideas they feel might enhance or add to the RP. It is absolutely my intention to make it so no student - and by association an RPer - feels left out. I want us to build Mahoutokoro together!
There are some rules, of course, but generally I'm not super strict.
Rules:
- I maintain an Open Door Policy. My inbox here or on Discord (in the event of a Discord being made for this RP) is always open so feel free to come to me with questions, concerns, or anything of the sort. Communication is essential in an RP like this and I will always opt to discuss any details no matter how small they may seem. You have a question? Fire away! You want to plan an event or something? By all means let's hear it and see how we can make it work! My door is always open for my players.
- Since this RP is set in the Harry Potter universe but also a magical academy set in Japan there was discussion of those oft-maligned things known as 'face claims'. A decision was made. This RP will be using realistic claims. This is me suggesting that characters would more likely be from East Asia, Southeast Asia, or even the Indian subcontinent as they would be from North America, South America, or Europe. Those regions have their own schools after all. I am fairly lenient, however, so if you've got a transfer student or a 'military brat' or something, then by all means go for it.
- Keep all drama at the fucking door. I will play RP Mother as often as I have to, but I don't want there to be any drama here if it can be avoided. If there are concerns or disagreements that can't be worked out I refer you to rule one. OOC drama is not going to help anyone. I expect everyone to be able to separate IC and OOC. We're all friends in this RP. Or at least we will be.
- I think posting limits are both good and bad, as such I'm going to say that there may or may not be one depending on interest garnered.
- Keep it rather realistic in terms of spell knowledge. First years wouldn't go around using wordless spells or whatnot.
- Characters can be first year boarding students up to year sevens, meaning ages 11 to 17. As such this will be a PG-13 RP in terms of language and the like. I expect everyone to use their best discretion otherwise.
- I'm not a stickler for post quantity, just post quality. This is a casual RP. I don't expect people to write novellas every post. Just make sure there's some effort put in and I'll be happy.
- Have fun and be safe with it.
Again, I must thank you for expressing an interest! And for those of you willing to come on this journey with us? Welcome aboard!
