"Vegan? Oh, I got it!" As he rummaged through his bad, many items could be heard being pushed away, some had a metal 'clink', others just your average bag material, but then there were some that squeaked. "I have fruits, vegetable- Oooh, almost forgot I packed that rice container. Mistral is home to a lot of good healthy foods!" He blinked awkwardly at her looking straight at his eyes, but attempted to stare right back, thinking not returning the stare would be rude. "Well, I smacked you with my tail, that's like me trying to take a swing at you. I can't just brush off responsibility like that, especially if I'm trying to be a Huntsman" He placed his hands behind his back, thinking back to basic matters, standing straight and directing his attention fully to the girl. Wait, so she's saying that being normal is bad in this instance?

When she spoke again, Aeschel found himself far more comfortable. Straightforward information without the awkwardness of normal social interaction? He could do that. "AH, you want a trade of information? Data to analyze, right, right. I can do that" He started to sound more like he was explaining something to a teacher instead of a fellow student. He started off with holding his hand out for a good fashioned handshake. "Aeschel Aspro, born and raised in Mistral" It was like reading things off a list, organizing data into sentences. "I'm a tinkerer, it's in my blood. My parents run a business of building crazy things and... Testing said dangerous and explosive objects on each other" He pulled out a small and very barebones looking glove out of the bag, like a skeleton of a hand with metal for bones and wires running around it as veins. It seemed to be some sort of shock-glove. "This is a very, very, very early stage prototype. It's usable, but can easily overheat. But I'm hoping that I can use this as a basis to create something that could be useful for... uh... Teams"

For a moment he looked like he had a bit of pride in the glove, but upon seeing a flicker of a spark and a wheeze of machinery he stuffed it back in the bag, shaking his head. "I'm interested in strategy, engineering and theatre. I was actually originally planning to grow up and be an engineer like my parents, but... Well, sometimes you find there's a door you never knew you had the key to" He left it at that. "I use a double-bladed sword that turns into a bow, and yes I know that a bow could be considered poor when compared to a gun, but on the battlefield, I think a bow, at least with how I designed my weapon, has some aspects that make it both efficient and convenient for the situation" He kept checking to see her reactions towards his words, trying to keep any rambling to a low. "Motivations?" Well, that was a something that didn't sound as appealing. "Well, I want to... I want to help people, you know. but... Uh... Well, I want to be responsible. I want to be better. I want people to look at me and know that they can trust me to help them through a problem" ANd she mentioned secrets? Well, he didn't have any of tho- "AndIhaveahiddencollectionofhandpuppets"

You're supposed to lie, dumbass!

Aqua smiled at the other Huntsman. So far, the people there had been different than what she was used to, but from what she had seen, she wouldn't mind forming a team with any of them. Before she could respond to Kobalt, however, her skull tingled slightly. The ground was incoming. She turned to Kobalt. "Get ready."

The airship landed roughly, shaking the entire craft. Had it not been for her preparedness and the nearby guardrail, Aqua would have fallen for sure. A voice crackled to life over the loudspeaker. "Sorry for the rough landing, kids, ground was closer than I thought."

He cleared his throat. "Please make sure to take your luggage. You can store it in your locker after the Headmaster's speech. Welcome to Beacon Academy."

"Check, one, two." A tall, grey-haired, bespectacled man in his 40s or 50s perhaps spoke into a microphone, in front of a crowd of students. "This is working? Excellent. If possible, I'd like to keep this brief." He looked out to the crowd of Huntsman, desperate to join Beacon for one reason or another. Many of them would not succeed in this task.

"You have come here for many different reasons, whether altruistic or not. But what every single person that steps into Beacon seeks is improvement. It is my duty, as well as the duty of the staff here at Beacon, to help provide that. But perhaps I should change my wording here. We will provide the knowledge that you will need to succeed, but it is up to you - and your team- to grow. As fighters, and as people. Body, and soul."

"That being said, I stated I'd like for this to be brief, so I'll cut off the philosophy here. Dinner will be served shortly, and then you may head into the Great Hall to sleep. Tomorrow is your initiation, which will determine your future here at Beacon, so I suggest you get some rest. I will see you all tomorrow morning."

As he finished his speech and turned away, the students began to talk among themselves. As he walked away from the mic, a smile slipped onto Ozpin's face.

One incredibly delicious dinner later...

Aqua emerged from the locker room, steam gently lifting from her body. Her dyed blue hair fell in an impossible mess down her back. She had tried to fight it with a comb before, but her hair was a more difficult opponent than any Grimm. She was wearing a simple cream t-shirt and a pair of black shorts. Her gills, having been slathered in water from the shower, were more visible now, 6 clear black slits on her neck.

She laid her sleeping bag out, which happened to be a massive shark (she had to keep up the theme somehow), sitting on top of it's cushiony gloriousness. Her cyan eyes scanned out the area. She was pretty quick to change, and only a few other guys, flaunting their muscles and wrestling, were out of the locker room.

She lied back on her bag, not going to sleep quite yet, but allowing her heart rate to slow. Tomorrow was possibly the biggest day of her life- she needed to be ready.

It had been a rather chaotic landing, to say the least, yanking Aeschel out of his conversation with the girl and immediately swept away by crowds of unorderly exits. He swore he'd be road kill if he hadn't apparently inherited the blood of his circus acrobat grandfather aiding him in staying upright and dodging he would have been roadkill under the heels of these students, though with the speed in which they all rushed off, it was hard to say they looked like students, more like black blurs that would usually exist solely to fill in backgrounds. Well, Aeschel didn't know for sure if his Granpa was apart of the circus, his father just used it to explain why he could be so agile and flexible, whereas Aeschel always assumed he was good at climbing and all that simply because he was squirrel faunus.

By the time he was in the clear, there were no familiar faces in sight. Urg, you didn't even ask her name. Dunderhead!

He found a spot near the ramp to wait for Cinna, just like he agreed, and- assuming she did find the time to meet with him- the rush to Ozpins Grand Speech room most likely proved too much of a time crunch to give the two any time to exchange words. "So, that's Head Master Ozpin? He looks... Younger than in photo's I'd seen. Then again, he is supposed to be the youngest headmaster in history..." It was a tightly packed room, so Aeschel (Maybe with Cinna in toe) took refuge at the back where there would hopefully be no victims to the antics of his tail. No distractions, no one mad at him, meaning no one to stop him from hanging onto Ozpin's every word. "I wonder how teams are decided. Not much is known about the initiation process, apparently, no one really talks about it a lot. Plenty of rumors surrounding it though" He scratched his chin, going through possibilities. "Perhaps they use the entrance exam and other data to process the best match possible between Hunters. I doubt it'd be a choice system of everybody just picking out their own partners. It has to be a delicate and disciplined process no matter what, these people will be your roommates and brothers-in-arms for years to come; you'd have to compliment each other well to be effective on the battlefield"

Pondering and discussion faded into awkwardness as dinner came and went by, transitioning into the night period where the great hall packed in all of the first years. "Okay, Aeschel. You can make it through here without hurting or offending anyone, right?" He still walked in his sandals, acting like they were slippers as he held a small green bedroll over his shoulder. He didn't have any special pajamas or anything, just some old brown tracksuit bottoms and a simple white shirt. As long as the clothes added free movement for his tail and felt comfortable, he didn't really care. As he made his way through the room his eyes shifted nervously over all of his peers, looking for any familiar sets of eyes. He didn't know if Cinna would mind the company, she seemed nice so far and it would be less likely for him to give into nerves with someone he at least got along with at the moment. It couldn't hurt to ask, could it?

He spotted the likes of Aqua easily, her bright blue hair and gills standing out pretty well after a shower, making her general spot nice place to stop in the sea of bodies and get his bearings. "There's so many people, you could get lost in here" He idly commented as he slowed down, stopping near the girl as he tried to peer over his... Peers.

Her hand shot out for the most sturdy object she could get ahold to steady herself as the airship landing poorly, which just so happened to be Daedalus's shoulder and upper arm. Mentally she cursed at the pilot, wasn't he supposed to better than that? Sighing, she released her strong grip and looked up at him "Didn't mean to grab a hold of ya like that...uh sorry." Personally, she would absolutely hate if someone grabbed her like that. Most likely they would end up being tossed through the air. "Looks like it's time to get off, so I suppose I'll see ya around!" Two fingers rose to her forehead in a casual salute as she walked away.

She picked up her suitcase, it and all the clothing inside were paid for by her huntsman guardian. There was only one object of hers inside it that was not bought recently, a silver bracelet with beautiful engravings and a single sentence on the inside that read Fight for a better world. It had been in her possession for as long as she could remember and ironically enough, it was the first thing she ever stole. Now that she had everything, she stepped outside along with the other students. Golden eyes immediately searching for Aeschel, as she had said she would catch up with him. Once she spotted him, she used the crowd to conceal her approach.

Her hand reached out and tapped him on the shoulder after sneaking up on him "There you are!" She said despite it being Aeschel who was waiting for her. Cinna followed him to the large room and the spot at the back of the crowd, not surprising her "You're right, I was expecting some granpda looking guy." She had not seen pictures of him, but with how wise he sounded she swore he would look much older. Cinna shrugged at his theory of how they chose partners "What's the fun of that? Honestly, I don't care if the process is completely random. In fact, I would prefer it that way. It would be more exciting." She said with a grin. Life was sporadic and ever-changing, so you can't rely on it to always be well-thought out and structured. A good adventure always has a few bumps in the road.

Cinna swore she had never eaten so much in her life! The food was just so more tasty than anything she had before that she couldn't help but eat a lot. That, and her semblance actually seemed to make her metabolism pretty high so she burned through calories pretty quickly. The shower felt awesome too, the water hot enough to scaled the skin of most other people but she delighted in its warmth. It was huge relief that the luxuries her guardian had given her were not going to be taken away here. She tied a bow at the end of her long ponytail after she dried and combed it, her hair hadn't given her much trouble since she was 13. Well fed and clean, it was now time to find a place to fall asleep for the night.

Her pajamas weren't that fancy, just a lavender tank-top and a pair of black shorts. All that mattered what how comfortable they felt. Golden eyes searched across the room, she couldn't say she was exactly comfortable sleeping among strangers. Old surival instincts flared up that she fought to quiet, when she saw Aeschel next to a shark-faunas. Cinna couldn't help but think how absolutely cool and bad-ass it made her look. Whoever it was, Aeschel was going to have to introduce her.

With her sleeping bag in under her arm, she walked up to the two. There were so many ways she could tease Aeschel right now but she decided to go easy on him "I hope he's not bothering you, if you give him a chance he's actually not a bad guy." She said smiling, An evil glint in her eyes showed as she glanced over at Aeschel. Without saying skipping a beat, she asked "So, you mind if we sleep here by you?" The request came confidently from her.

Seth Rust

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Seth felt the airship shift as it began to descend. He let out a sigh and told himself, “Here we go.” Seth stumbled and nearly fell as the airship felt like it crashed rather than landed on the ground. There was a crackle and the pilot apologized for the rough landing saying the ground was closer then he thought. Seth steadied himself and said rather loudly, “who the hell taught you how to fly?” He then grabbed his luggage which in this case was a large wicker drum and followed the sea of students out of the airship.

There was another crackle as more speakers came to life, but this time Seth could see who was speaking. He was a tall grey-haired man in his mid-forties. He questioned if the mic was on before he began his brief announcement. Seth tensed up when he mentioned teams, but he soon relaxed. He remembered Dagger telling him Beacon had their students placed in teams and at first this scared him because of his Primal side, but he had planned for this on his way to the airship. This was where his fake personality would come into play. He wasn’t a bad person or a jerk by any means, but to keep others safe from his Primal side should it decided to show its ugly head. He’d have to push others away so he didn’t attack anyone by accident. However, his fear came back when the man told them they’d all be sleeping in the great hall.

“Shit,” Seth said to himself as he tried to figure a way to sleep in a secluded place. He would have to check the great hall and see if there were windows to sneak out of, but then that would raise the question of how he could sneak out without waking anyone up. He sighed and added, “I’ll just have to wing it.”

After the speech, Seth followed the crowd and placed his wicker drum into his locker. It took a lot of force to put it in his locker, but after some cursing and brute force, he was able to close his locker and head to where they were serving dinner. While most people devoured large mounds of food Seth had grabbed a few chicken legs, some fruit, and veggies before finding a vacant table. He had snacked on granola bars while he traveled to the airship so he wasn’t too hungry, but he ate so he could have enough energy for tomorrow.

After dinner, Seth found the Great hall and scanned the room. He was taking short breaths as he saw how many people were sleeping there. However, he let out a sigh as he saw how many of the guys tried to impress the ladies and each other with their flexing. He rubbed his eyes in frustration at their stupidity. He continued to scan the room until he saw his target. He made his way towards one of the corners of the room. Careful not to step on anyone’s sleeping bag and avoiding eye contact so he didn’t have to stop and introduce himself.

He let out a sigh as he reached his destination. It was the far right corner in the back of the great hall. For anyone watching, it might look like he chose this spot because it was far enough away from everyone. However, Seth’s plan was simple: the corner he chose was close to a window. So his plan was to wait for everyone to fall asleep and when the time was right. He’d sneak out the window and sleep outside on the school grounds under the moon and stars.

Seth placed his Sleeping bag on the floor but didn’t unravel it. Instead, he let it lean against the wall before he walked over to the window and examined it. He found the lock, lightly unlocked it and opened it just a crack. He figured this motion wouldn’t raise too much suspicion since it would seem Seth wanted to sleep next to the fresh air. In retrospect, that was one of the reasons he was going to sleep outside. All the smells in the room were driving his sensitive nose crazy. Especially whoever drenched their food in garlic, they were the worst. Also, it was because of his fear that his primal side would come out.

Once the window was cracked open, Seth walked backward and sat down with his back against the wall and waited. He didn’t know how long it would take, but he was prepared to wait for however long he needed to so he could sneak out. Seth sat Indian style with his arms folded in front of him.

After ten minutes which felt more like an eternity - the airship had finally landed at Beacon Academy, though not without quite the bumpy landing that forced Kobalt to grip onto a guardrail, as to not be knocked into the various other students via the impact. Shortly after a loudspeaker announcement, however... the time had finally come for the students to leave the ship. Kobalt's fellow students seemed quite excited to have landed, for they filed out of the airship rather quickly. Kobalt waited for the line to thin out before he left - there was no use rushing. Sure, he was dying to enter Beacon Academy - but an extra minute or two wouldn't hurt. Eventually, the time came for Kobalt to leave the ship, and from there, he followed after the other students, taking glimpses of Beacon Academy as he did so.

It didn't take Kobalt too long to find his way to a large room with an equally large number of students. All of the future huntsmen and huntresses of Beacon were gathered to listen to their new headmaster. Kobalt found himself at the back of the gathering, though he didn't mind this at all. In fact, he found it rather relaxing.

Kobalt laid eyes on the headmaster, recognizing them immediately. Kobalt knew who the man was from the stories his mother and father would tell him. The grey-haired, somewhat aged fellow clad in green attire and classy glasses that stood before the students was none other than Ozpin, Headmaster of Beacon. His parents had only positive things to speak of Ozpin. The man was a fair, yet strict teacher who wanted only the best for the hunters and huntresses in his care. Yet... the man was rumoured to be an incredible hunter, too. There were few people Kobalt respected more than Ozpin, and he'd only seen him today. Ozpin began his speech, as well - speaking of how the students will grow... both in body and mind, something that resonated well with Kobalt. His parents had always believed in growing in body and mind, and now Kobalt knew where they'd gotten it from. Ozpin. 'Can't believe I met him... the guy felt like the stuff of legends, like some kinda superhero all those years back. He's the real deal, though. Damn... I'm lucky to be one of his students.' Kobalt thought, glancing over at the grey-haired man once more, before heading off to his next destination.

Later on, at the Great Hall...

Dinner had passed, always a highlight of Kobalt's day - but the passing of dinner heralded another event... that being sleep. The students had to head to the Great Hall for their sleep, something Kobalt wasn't as keen on. Sleeping in such a large, noisy room wasn't that appealing, unsurprisingly. Kobalt wouldn't have even minded heading outside and sleeping anywhere else. Chances were that would allow for both a peaceful sleep - and perhaps even meditation, for a clear mind was quite the boon.

Kobalt was dressed in an old favourite blue jacket of his - it had served him well in the cold regions of Atlus, for it had been designed with warmth in mind - so hunters could brave the fierce colds. This jacket was adorned with two badges, different from his regular shirt. One was red and circular, and read 'Bolt' - the other was simply a blue square. Of course, Kobalt was still clad in his trademark hat. He had quite the history with his hat - and over the years, he'd grown fond of it.

Off in the distance within the colossal hall, Kobalt caught sight of various familiar students off in the distance - Aqua, and the orange-haired Faunus he'd deemed as clumsy earlier on in the day. He also noticed a red-haired lady he'd seen once or twice in the airship, as well. '... May as well try out some of this mingling thing then.' Kobalt briefly pondered, his eyes on the group. 'Sleeping in some giant, crowded-ass hall isn't something I really want to do, but hey, doesn't look like I've got much of an option. Probably not a bad idea to get to know some people, either.'

Tilting his hat slightly downwards, Kobalt began the trek to his destination. The Great Hall was positively bustling with people - the airship was crowded, but the Great Hall really put into perspective how many students there were heading into Beacon. Eventually, Kobalt arrived, and quickly looked over at the three people he'd headed over to - Aqua, along with the orange-haired faunus and the red-haired lady. With a clear voice, he spoke. "You guys alright if I set up here? Seems like an alright spot for a bit of a nap."

Daedalus was quiet for a few moments as he thought about the question, watching out of the window as Beacon Academy drew closer, but he couldn't recall many of the details. He knew roughly how it worked at Atlas Academy, but each of the kingdoms operated differently so he expected the same of its Huntsman Academies. That unfortunately meant that he was going into this blind, and a small frown made itself onto his face at the thought.

He turned back to Cinna, but before he could open his mouth to speak, the entire transport shook from the rough landing and he mentally cursed. His internal processor instantly kicked on and made several minor adjustments to the servos in his legs, compensating for the sudden shift and keeping him stable and upright. He glared slightly at the loudspeaker before addressing the girl clung onto his arm. "It's fine, don't worry about it. I'll see you around." He returned her gesture with a curt nod before heading in a slightly different direction, his hooded figure gliding through the crowd like a blade through water. Grabbing his case of luggage, he followed along with the rest of the crowd as he waited for the Headmaster's speech to begin.

As Daedalus stepped out of the changing room, he scanned the main hall as he looked for a spot to settle, narrowing his eyes at the students that decided to stare at his cybernetics. His sleeping clothes consisted of a black tank top and black pants, leaving his arms and the top of his spine exposed. He knew that he would have to let people know eventually so he'd rather have it done quickly, like ripping off an adhesive bandage. He spotted 2 familiar faces and 2 of the students that had caught his attention on the airship, namely Aqua, Cinna, the blue-themed boy and the clumsy squirrel faunus, and gravitated towards them but didn't intrude on their conversation. Instead, he drifted towards one of the walls, setting his plain black sleeping bag down and unrolling it parallel to the wall. He laid back on the material, eyes gazing aimlessly as he retreated into his mind, unsure if he should enter any of conversations around him.

Soon after she sat down, several other people moved up to her. First was a tall squirrel Faunus, with ears and a large bushy tail, who she had seen on the airship. "Yeah, it's packed in here. It's kind of cool how many people are looking to be Huntsmen here."

Another girl that Aqua thought she had seen before on the airship walked up to her, confidence dripping from every pore. Aqua nodded at the redhead's request. "Sure, you can sleep here. I don't mind at all."

The guy that Aqua had met on the airship, Kobalt, also asked if he could set up near her. "Sure thing, Kobes." She patted the ground next to her. "The more the merrier.

"Exciting, maybe, but not practical. Huntsmen are to risk their lives with every breath they take beside people they trust, the aim should be to make the most efficient combination of students." When Aeschel said that, he omitted the other thought, the desire to be apart of a team because he proved himself, not just put there randomly so everyone can already be under the impression that they're stuck with that wimpy faunus boy, Aeschel.

He was surprised when the shark faunus actually responded to him, rushing out a reply "Well, you can't deny that people have certainly glamorized the profession in a way" When Cinna had later popped out of seemingly nowhere to comment on Aeschel's behavior, the boy had a small moment of his body jumping at the sudden appearance. "Why do you assume that I'm already bothering someone?" He faced her with a small pout, though taking in her expression he could help but look suspicious of her. "And why do I see the devil flashing when you smile?" She was close enough to pull any number of ill thought deeds, so Aeschel looked her up and down for any sign of mischief. He liked this person, but he was starting to get the impression that she was a bit of a wild card; kept things interesting at least. And she'd certainly been a good help so far in getting comfortable around here. He was especially grateful when she brought up the subject of sleeping here, with the room being packed he knew he'd have to face that awkward conversation no matter what, so it was nice to have someone else ask first. She was technically helping him, so he had to do something in return. Compliments were nice, right? Alright, Aeschel, compliment her in appreciation. But don't make it obvious why. Politely! "Nice bow, by the way" He dropped his bedding as he talked, trying to look appreciative to both girls.

With the fourth voice joining, Aeschel stayed quiet, simply looking up to the boy with a nod. The boy looked a bit similar to the blue haired girl, except without the shark features; perhaps they were related in some way. "Uh, Aeschel. I'm Aeschel. Nice to meet both of you" He tried to show some confidence, holding out his hand for a shake, before clumsily trying to repeat the same strange handshake Cinna had done.

So much for trying to change.

Aquarius had departed, and Aurelia had spent the rest of the flight alone. If her interaction with the girl proved one thing, it was that she still had a long way to go to become more sociable. Still, she figured she could just focus on her teammates; she didn't have to interact with every person that crossed her path, right? Then again, it felt more like an excuse, and as she watched the people around her interact with one another, she isolated herself out of habit. The rest of the day was uneventful, so to speak. Ozpin's speech did strike a chord with her; she did want to improve. She did want to stick to her convictions. But to do that, she would have to take that first step, something that seemed so simple and yet she kept hesitating.

For now, she would resign those worries to tomorrow, laying down her sleeping bag at the edge of the hall. Admittedly, she was slightly put off at the idea of sleeping with so many people around. Even the bathrooms had thrown her off! Her upbringing was quickly becoming a disadvantage, a discomfort being surrounded by so many in situations where she was used to her privacy. She certainly never imagined having to be seen in her nightgown--a simple, sleeveless silk hanging off her though only reaching her mid-thigh--and she was admittedly self conscious as she did her best to not show more than she needed to. Had she known, she likely would have brought pajamas like some of the other girls.

Letting out a shiver, Aurelia sat with her back to the wall, legs flat on the ground. She had decided to do a little reading, having brought her Properties of Dust as a refresher. If tomorrow was initiation, she needed to get her head in the right place. No need to worry about other people there--she'd be in her home turf on the battlefield for sure.

It seemed that her light tease had gotten the desired reaction from her acquaintance, Aeschel. Her eyes lit up a little upon hearing his comment on her smile "I don't think you really want to know the answer to that." She gave him a coy wink before looking over at Aqua with a completely friendly expression "Awesome!" She responded before setting her things down, glad that the shark-girl had given permission. She felt that Aeschel had been looking for it as well but she figured she would just ask directly. Her head tilted a little to the side, looking at Aeschel, as he seemed to compliment her "Thanks!" It was nice to have someone notice it, though she was wondering why he said that. People where she came from often used compliments to get something out of you or distract you from something else.

Her thumb and pointer-finger pinched her forehead as Aeschel sloppily recreated the handshake she had done on the airship, it was quite embarrassing to be honest. She had no choice to show him the proper way later if only for her own sake of not seeing THAT again. Perhaps she best help him out on this one "And I'm Cinna." She spoke to both of them "That's a sweet hat Kobes. Looks good!" The lack of hesitation in her voice added to her voice's strength, using the name Aqua gave for Kobalt. While talking to them, she spotted Daedalus setting up next to a wall. She couldn't help her eyes from drifting to his robotic arms. He was a cyborg? That was so cool! Now she sorta understood why he kept to himself but that wouldn't stop her from pestering him when she wanted.

"Are you a Faunus? Because I'm starting to see horns growing..." Aeschel shot back, though he became rather awkward when his compliment seemed to confuse the girl. I don't think that helped... Urg, I think she now suspects something bad about me. Should he say something else? No, best not to follow it up, unless he wanted to risk actively offending her. "I'm just trying to-" He could only blush and watch as Cinna corrected him on the hand-shake, though he did get a bit of a chuckle at her expression, a chuckle which he made sure to hide behind his notebook as he pulled the large item out of his bag. It was a thick notebook, with many pieces of paper sticking out with stains, drained color and tears showing how old the thing was. "Thank you very much, Cinna"

He took a moment to admire the blue boy's hat, pulling his eyes to the notebook as he opened it up, plucked a pen from its frame and started jotting notes down. So far, he'd been noting down factoids and observations about the people he'd met, questions he had about them that he could answer at some point, what he knew of their abilities so far, their weapons, basically a personal profile that some could consider quite... Creepy. That thought had crossed his mind, so he decided to skip over the pages holding the rough draft of Cinna and the Tiger Faunus he met on the Bullhead, hoping that if someone did try to be nosey, they'd just catch his writings about the measurements, materials, and components of Beacon. He hadn't had much time in the courtyard, but he could note down stuff here; His father had a bit of a thing for architecture and both parents did have a certain curiosity for how well Beacon was built; so Aeschel planned to keep note an build a 'report' he could send back to them.

However, as soon as his eyes glanced over to Daedalus, his gaze was ripped away from the notes and lingered on the metallic parts of the man's body. Aeschel could swear that stars reached his eyes at that moment as the engineer in him squealed in delight, like a school girl meeting a celebrity. "A cyborg? THAT'S AMAZING!" Now the bigger questions were: Would the man be offended if Aeschel asked to examine him? If there were a few questions about how the machinery worked? If the man kept any schematics Aeschel could drool over? Cybernetics wasn't exactly a common science these days, a relatively new and taboo subject even in Atlas, which just meant there was so much not known about it. Father would want to cut off a piece of him and take it back home. Mother would ask if she could take him back to the garage and 'experiment'. All in all, I have the most normal reaction here...

"I see," Xinyue would say occasionally, nodding along with Aeschel as he told her a lot about himself and appearing to take interest in it, before finally saying her piece, "That was certainly a wealth of information you just gave me. I'll be sure to cherish it."

She was about to introduce herself before the vessel landed on the ground with a great and sudden thud. It was a good thing Xinyue had been sitting this whole time, as the seat had taken the brunt of the impact that she'd have otherwise felt. It was evidently enough to send the standing Beacon Academy candidates, including Aeshel, bowling over themselves. Unfortunately, by the time Xinyue rose from her seat, Aeschel seemed to have been swept away completely by the crowd of candidates rushing to get off. She shook her head in dismay.

'Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt if I ever got to see him again, unlike the case for some people.' Xinyue thought to herself, 'I wonder...'

Contemplating on that chance encounter, Xinyue left to follow everyone else to the Great Hall, being the last candidate to disembark the vessel.

...

Xinyue's first impression of Ozpin, the headmaster of Beacon Academy, would be rather lackluster as of yet. After all, she didn't really learn enough about him as a person from the speech he gave, and didn't have anything to go on as a result. This wasn't helped by the fact that said speech was as short as it was. As for the dinner... well, it looked impressive on the surface, but Xinyue wasn't really all that hungry to begin with now that she thought of it, and the sheer amount of meat that was on display took its toll on her appetite. Supposing she should eat something in order to keep her strength up for the next day's initiation, Xinyue scrounged around the table for the few acceptable vegetarian options that the feast had presented for her. She left with barely enough to be considered a single meal, which was less than what she could say for some of the other candidates she saw, some of which piled their plates with food, others that had carried more than one with them... and even the odd few that did both. That alone was enough to make her shudder.

With the feast over and done with, Xinyue went and had her shower. She could never understand the appeal of a hot shower; she always preferred the commando style of shower herself, as it was more effective at refreshing her than a warm shower would. Xinyue only took a minute or two to have her shower as well. It may have been questionably short, but it was long enough to get the job done. She changed into another, clean china dress that she had and proceeded to find a smooth wall to lean on. Incidentally, Xinyue managed to find Aeschel nearby the spot that she'd ultimately chose, although he appeared to be already in the midst of a conversation with an entire group of people. Xinyue shouldn't have been surprised in retrospect, as she had to bypass quite the multitude of people herself.

"Ah, there you are; I was wondering whether I'd see you again before tomorrow," Xinyue told Aeshel as she leaned back against the nearby wall and made herself comfortable, before looking over towards the rest of the group that he was with "And who might you lot be, out of curiosity?"

"Hey, thanks Aqua." Kobalt addressed with a thankful nod of his head. "Can't say I'm that huge a fan of this whole 'sleeping on the floor' business and all, though. Kind of sucks that we've got no other option, huh."

Kobalt began to head towards the designated area that Aqua had patted on the ground - but before this, he took a quick glance around the area. It was still just as crowded, with the occasional student shying away from any groups. Kobalt was thankful - if it weren't for this Aqua person, he'd probably be all by his lonesome, as well. While peaceful... being alone did tend to get a little boring. Though, before long, Kobalt found that the other two students with Aqua had begun to introduce themselves. As it turned out, the red-haired lady's name was Cinna - and the orange-haired Faunus man's name was Aeschel. And speaking of names, Kobalt seemed to have earned himself a nickname, one that had been used by both Aqua - and the red-haired lady, Cinna. That nickname was... 'Kobes'. Kobalt didn't quite know what to think about it - it sounded a little cutesy for his tastes, but... it'd do.

Something else Kobalt noticed - was that the fellow he now knew as Aeschel held his hand out for a handshake, at least if Kobalt was interpreting things correctly... though, how the Faunus man formed the handshake was a little unusual, clumsy even. Kobalt recalled that this was the same Faunus on the ship... everything came together. However, Aeschel's friend, Cinna corrected his handshake rather quickly. 'Alright, so... I think this is when I go for the handshake. Here's hopin' that I'm not mixing this stuff up. That'd be embarrassing as hell.'

Kobalt met the handshake - and recalled something that'd slipped his mind. "Oh, yeah, should probably introduce myself." Kobalt uttered. "Kobalt Zaffre's my name. Nice meeting you guys." He introduced himself with a calm demeanor, then dropped the handshake - and headed towards the area Aqua had patted. Before long, he began to sit down, and started placing his pack onto the ground gently. It was a relief to sit down, for Kobalt had been standing up for quite a while. There was nothing quite like taking a seat after prolonged standing... even if it was on the floor.

Kobalt overheard Cinna and Aeschel talking about something, but he didn't quite know what. Though, after a while, it seemed like another person had found their way to the group Kobalt was currently with. This time, it was another Faunus, though this one was a tall lady, clad in black and white... and again, it was another familiar student. This was the same person he'd seen Aeschel talking with on the airship! While he did come off as a bit clumsy, it seemed like he was a popular fellow.

The lady in black and white spoke to Aeschel once again - then seemed to address the rest of the group, asking their names. It looked like this'd be the second time in a few minutes that Kobalt would be introducing himself, though that was only natural on the first day. "My name's Kobalt Zaffre." Kobalt replied. It was simple, but... it didn't quite need to be a fancy introduction.

Interactions: Aeschel (Briefly) @DrTwit

As he laid back on his sleeping bag, skimming through countless weapon schematics in his eye's data library as he contemplated various potential enhancements for his original Huntsman's Weapons, Daedalus was mildly surprised but entirely grateful for the minimal reaction he had garnered. He could feel a few inquisitive gazes on him and caught an outburst of amazement from the faunus talking to Cinna and Aquarius, the man earning a brief nod of acknowledgement from the cyborg in question, but he had yet to be accosted about his blatantly in-human appendages and their abilities.

Sighing softly to himself through his nose, he put a mental bookmark into his browsings before closing his internal database and shifting his cybernetics suite into low-power mode. Externally, the lights on his arms, spine and eye dimmed out before he lowered himself into his sleeping bag and pulled it over him. His eyes slid closed as he settled into a sleeping position, his head lulling to the side and facing toward the assembled group as his breathing became softer and he gently coaxed himself to sleep.

So far, Beacon was going pretty smoothly. New people, and a whole ton of new experiences. She gave a curt nod to both Cinna and Aeschel, introducing herself to them. "Aquarius Haifisch, or Aqua.Pleasure's all mine." She smiled at all of them, and followed their gaze towards Daedalus. "Yeah, he's a cyborg. Something about an accident? We both went to Signal together, but we weren't exactly best buddies."

A new individual arrived to introduce herself. Aqua immediately felt chills down her arms. This girl was huge, maybe half a foot taller than Aqua herself. She blinked once, noticing the tiger ears. ”I’m Aqua. Would you mind if I asked you a question? As in, how the hell did you get so tall?”

Cinna simply smiled brightly "You're welcome." However she let go a small sigh and rolled her eyes as he practically freaked out over the cyborg guy in the corner. A little bit of common sense would have told him not to make such a big scene, but admittedly it sort of adorable how excited he got like a little kid. She couldn't discard this feeling that Kobes, now known as Kobalt Zaffee, was some from rich family. Seriously, she kept thinking that everyone needed to just loosen up a little. Cinna would be the first to admit that people weren't her favorite thing in the world but it wouldn't stop her from having fun. Aqua huh? She thought as she heard the shark-girl speak. It certainly suited her and it would definitely be what Cinna called her in the future.

The new girl that showed up spoke very properly, and it somewhat disorienting to listen to, but Cinna was digging the tiger ears. In fact she was somewhat drawn to Xinyue "Cinna Arelle, pleased to meet ya!" She spoke enthusiastically as she shifted her things over next to her. "Your dress looks cute on you!" The words came out with a second thought, compliments she believed were the best way to get on someone's good side. Cinna was kind of surprised at how their big their group had gotten, though she had not issue with it. It made her very curious about who her team and team leader was going to be. The leadership role wasn't for her, she wanted to focus on beating up the grimm not worrying about giving out orders.

Mentioning:@Shadow Daedalus

"Gewah!" Aeschel jumped at the sudden appearance of Xinyue, he had his notebook in his face, so her appearance took him by surprise. "Oh, it's you. I swear, you're a teleporter or something" After a moment of thought, he found the suggestion a bit laughable considering his own semblance. Though, that did bring up the wonder of what everyone else's aura offered his companions here. Semblance is believed by many to be connected to one's personality. Cinna seemed a rather lively person so far, perhaps she expended energy of sorts? Maybe some sort of charger? Oh great, now he was getting the image of her being some sort of human phone charger; he did not admire the person who got that super power. As he thought through all this, he flipped back through his notes, noting down possible powers for his current company to have. Cinna's had 'Battery Charger? Deflection? Mad Hops? Pain Absorption?'. With the vibe he was getting from Xinyue, he noted down 'Puppet Master? Exorcism/Possession? Aura Drain? Teeth-related'.

The other two were ones he didn't know much about, so he couldn't make any guesses, though with how they greeted each other he was starting to think his "they're related" theory was dead. The cyborg seemed to be the broody, stand-offish 'leave me alone because I am so cool' type of guy, so Aeschel would put his money on some sort of shield. Emotional, physical, mental or otherwise. "I'm sorry for disappearing earlier, but I was practically dragged away. I never got your name, miss" Aeschel nodded apologetically up at the faunus. At Aqua's question, Aeschel gave a skeptical look. "Her height isn't that strange. Uncommon, yes, but nothing mysterious or confusing. Some people are just tall"

He took another look at all the people surrounding him, finding his brows furrowing in thought and putting his note writing on pause. In such a short time he had already bumped into a multitude of strange people, with much more probably to come considering the types Beacon attracts, all trained warriors ready to complete the final four stages needed to prove that they're ready to become Huntsmen. Would these people before him become his teammates? Would he get the opportunity to see any of them again? Or would he quickly fade from their minds as soon as their teammates weigh on the brain?

Cinna had been nice to him, welcoming and certainly had an outgoing presence, just by looking at her he felt that she'd certainly make a good teammate.

Xinyue, while not the most social seeming person (Which, when he thought about it, was good for him), certainly made herself stand out as a presence, someone to fear and trust when it came to skills. Then again, that could just be the natural feel you get from a tiger faunus.

The cyborg, while completely awesome and inspiring to Aeschel's mind, didn't seem like someone he'd get along with. Someone who'd very quickly find themselves annoyed with Aeschel's antics, or maybe even quickly acknowledge and doubt Aeschel's abilities. Of course the guy I find the coolest is also the guy who probably wouldn't like me

"I hope you guys do well in the initiation process"

Xinyue nodded in acknowledgement of all the introductions, seemingly satisfied with the fact that she'd learnt some more names. Kobalt Zaffre was the first to give his, and the two girls, Cinna Arelle and Aquarius Haifisch, had gave theirs at roughly the same time as each other. Of course, Xinyue already knew of Aeschel from back when they were all on that vessel that was headed for Beacon.

"Very well, then. I am Xinyue Cao Tang," she finally introduced herself; it was at this time that she noted Cinna's compliment of her dress, "Why thank you. I have several of this same dress, myself."

Well... it'd be considered small talk at best, but at least Xinyue was interacting with more people, which would be good for her. After all, this group was more or less the size of a team she'd be expected to work with.

”Would you mind if I asked you a question? As in, how the hell did you get so tall?” asked Aquarius; Xinyue had to ponder that one.

"I suppose I would be considered abnormally tall," she deduced, before supposing she should actually answer the question, "My body has been growing at a rate one would expect, and it stopped at a normal age as well. If I had to guess as to why I've become at this height, it would be... because of the 'head start' it was given, if you will."

Xinyue didn't read too much into Aeschel's apology for their prior conversation being cut short. She did think about resuming said conversation, but with most everyone else either preparing to go to sleep or already having fallen asleep, this time of night wasn't the best time for it. After all, she had to respect the necessity for adequate rest, especially for as large an event as the initiation.

"I hope you guys do well in the initiation process."

"Yes, about that... It'd be wise to get as much shut-eye as we're going to be able to for tomorrow," Xinyue added along with Aeschel's wishes for good luck, before looking down at the floor with a disheartened look in her eyes, "That said, that floor looks none too comfortable. I didn't bring any sleepwear myself, so this wall I'm leaning on will have to suffice."

"Won't lie, feels a little weird having initiation tomorrow. Been waitin' for this day for years." Kobalt added as he reached into his backpack, searching for his sleeping bag - something that would certainly be of importance if he were to sleep on the ground. Though, he found that his backpack was quite full of various miscellaneous objects he'd brought with him - there was the normal stuff, like food - then there was his badge collection and a few trinkets he'd brought along with him. However, Kobalt ceased rummaging through his pack, and glanced over to the rest of the group. "You guys wanna be hunters, right? Give it your all and you're set. Hell, if you're here right now, you've probably got what it takes."

Kobalt tilted his hat downwards after his words, and continued searching through his backpack until he located his sleeping bag. 'Geez... I said that, huh? I ain't wrong, though.'

He began setting up his blue and rather ordinary sleeping bag, though he found his mind drifting back onto the topic of the team system. It was something that would shape his entire experience in Beacon, but within that lied the question of who he'd be teamed up with. Anyone in the group he was currently with was good, he felt - even Aeschel, who he may have deemed clumsy previously. While he did want teammates he could rely on, he also wanted people. People he could get along with. And the people he'd met seemed to be just that... so far, at the very least.

'Well, let's just see what happens.' Kobalt thought as he pulled something else out of his pack... none other than his weapon, which he had deemed the Twin Thunderbolts - a pair of gauntlets, specially designed for a swift striker. Kobalt couldn't help but inspect them, for they'd be seeing combat very, very soon. 'And, hey. I've always got these, so I'm good. The only teammate I need... not that others would be a bad thing.'

Putting his gauntlets back after their routine inspection, Kobalt chose to take a peek around the room, to see what the other future hunters were up to. Some were chatting, others were showing off - flexing, wrestling, the like, while some seemed to stray from any groups, instead choosing to be by their lonesome. But two people caught Kobalt's eye. The first of which was a white-haired Faunus, sitting against the wall, his arms folded... the other, however, was rather familiar. Kobalt spotted the blonde lady who was accompanying Aqua on the airship - now reading a book. "Hey, Aqua," Kobalt uttered. "Maybe I'm wrong, but ain't that your friend from the airship over there?"
