After a brief introduction Kana walks with Thomas towards their classroom.
She could tell he was trying his best to make a good impression on her. As they walked, he gave her a mini tour of the school and gave her some tips to "survive her first year". She hoped even though she is starting as a new student in her second year, that she would make good friends while she's here. When Thomas asked if she played tennis, she tried to hold back any sarcasm at the obvious. She figured she'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

“I’ve played tennis practically my whole life… you play baseball, right?”
They continue to make conversation and it wasn't too long until they finally reach their destination.
Upon walking in the classroom, there was already a good number of other students settling in. Seats were already being taken, and until the teacher was present to say otherwise, seat were up for grabs. Nevertheless, when Thomas asked if she would like to sit near him and his friend, she nodded and said, “Lead the way.”

Her tennis bag was still slung on her back. A weird sensation since usually she’d store it in a club room or the sorts. But since she was technically not in tennis club yet, she’ll have to figure out where to put her gear aside. Maybe she can ask one of the baseball club members if she can store her stuff with them for now. Upon reaching a slew of empty desks next to Thomas’ friend, Kana set her stuff down not too far away and introduces herself to the other boy.
“Hello, my name’s Kana Nishikori. Nice to meet you, you’re friend here saved my morning.”

I don't wanna know your name
Cause you don't look the same
The way you did be- hm?

Had it not been for the makeshift ball of paper that had bounced off his leg, Ryunosuke would have finished the line in his head. Occupied with quietly listening to his music, he paused. He never did like multitasking anyways- it was like juggling a sword and a chainsaw both at once to his mind, which preferred to focus completely on one task. In the words of Ron Swanson, "Never half ass two things, whole ass one thing."

Ryunosuke instinctively turned his head to whatever bounced off his leg. A crumpled ball of paper, which came in the direction of a girl not-so-subtly watching him, as if expecting something. He questioned if- yes, it was the girl that laughed at him. He paid no contempt, but rather intrigue as to what could be in the note. After pausing his song, he leaned down, and picked the wad up, still curious as to what its contents entail. Quickly unfurling it, he read the message:

We could've easily swapped seats, y'know

The first thought that popped into Ryunosuke's mind was 'why?' In the moment, he wasn't quite able to rationalize himself why exactly she'd want his seat. Unless you were needlessly seeking attention (aha!) why would you want to be the center? Although it seemed like he had already answered his own question, Ryunosuke still would gladly accept the offer she had implied in the message. It was the perfect trade-off for him: he far preferred the window seat near the back: it was the classroom's sniper foxhole. He could sit back silently and watch everything from his angle, all the while unnoticed. Perfect.

Yet even then, not even Ryunosuke was sure how to put his emotion into words. Perhaps fireworks, the triumphant fist of a victorious military general, a primal victory cry? Regardless of whatever the feeling was, he merely smirked with a silent chuckle- the kind that occurs when a bit of air comes out of your nose, as if mildly amused or intrigued. Picking his backpack up, he slung it around his shoulder, walking over to the rear corner window seat behind the girl that threw the note at him. Wary not to draw any more unneeded attention caused by his movement, he took a seat nonchalantly, quietly muttering a "thanks" as he put his music back on.

Okay, you think you got a pretty face
But the rest of you is out of place
You looked alright before
Fox on the run...

Oh God, she is... totally going to be late.

Normally, Kuroko wouldn't mind in the slightest, but her first day? Well, she still doesn't care that much, but she should've eaten faster, or something! She can only skirt by with her outfit if she's an otherwise stellar student! Not that she ever has been... but the school owes her, and it owes her a hell of a lot, so she can be late one day!

Kuroko blinks when her phone chimes, but doesn't stop walking. She slips past the growing crowds on the streets and pulls out her phone, reading the message left by @Sola with a growing grin.

Hello, Koumori-san? It's Kotone. I wanted to make sure I put in your number in correctly.

Yes! Perfect, one friend made! Now if she could get some in her year, that'd be fantastic! She arrives at the school, later than most, and swiftly hops her way inside while typing up a message back.

You got it, Tachibana-san! Hey, which class are you in? I'm in 2-C, so I might pass your class some days!

Sending the message with a smile, Kuroko pulls herself up the stairs to the second-year classrooms, finding her way to class 2-C, remarkably not that late. There aren't many seats, so Kuroko takes one near the back. She feels bad sitting in front of people when she's so tall, and with hair that is basically designed to take up space.

She slips into her spot and plops down her bookbag, sighing happily and relaxing. Totally made it on time.

Genjo Arata

Arata made his way into the school reaching, what he had been told was, his locker. He slipped off his trainers and grabbed ahold of his slippers and placed them on. As he did so he tried to look around to find where he was going, unable to find that information he followed the crowd and managed to get into a wave of people.

Eventually he arrived at his class, 2-C he read the sign and smiled, walking into his class to witness who his new friends could possibly be. Though he wasn't overly thrilled he was fine with who was in his class. He took the seat he had been assigned and placed his bag down, he was still a bit too nervous to talk to anyone just yet.

He did look around just to take in everything around him, he was trying to prepare for the coming year and smiled as he thought so.

Anarchy.

The teacher of 2-C, Kurihara-sensei, was an exhausted thirty year old sensei. She was the prime age to be considered a Christmas cake—unmarried and spending her evenings eating takeout while watching some drama TV show—and it only seemed with each year it would be harder for Kurihara-sensei.

Kurihara-sensei couldn't blame her students for misbehaving. They were kids, in the end, but Kurihara-sensei wished—just for one year—she would have students that were more willing to learn than goof off. Before school had even started, people were throwing paper around or listening to music with their earphones. Some were talking to their friends rather than being in their seats, while others were awkwardly standing, smiling away at whatever they were thinking or said. There were even a few foreigners in her class—something Kurihara-sensei had never expected. Out of all the classes in the school, Kurihara-sensei had not one, but two foreigners!

Even if the students would still rather goof off rather than learn, at least it would be somewhat interesting.

"Alright, alright. Take your seats, everyone." Kurihara-sensei spoke, waving her students down with a folder to motion for them to sit in their seats. Taking her position at the podium in the front of the classroom, grabbing a piece of chalk to write her last name in kanji across the chalkboard. "I know you're all eager to begin the new school year, but it's time for class to start."

Turning back around to face the classroom, Kurihara-sensei gazed across her class. There were a few people returning, those she had taught before or seen somewhere in the school, although there were a few that she had not met yet. "I am Kurihara-sensei, and I'll be teaching your class this year. I hope we'll all have a great year together, and that each of you learn something and become successful high school students this year." Kurihara-sensei continued, then turning her attention to whomever was sitting in the first window seat in the front.

"Now, why don't we begin introducing ourselves to our fellow classmates?"

Uesugi Senior High, Fukushima City

Not long after Kotone sent her message, her phone started buzzing in her hands. Checking her phone, Kotone noticed that Kuroko had responded to her message with one of her own.

You got it, Tachibana-san! Hey, which class are you in? I'm in 2-C, so I might pass your class some days!

To Kotone, it felt somewhat weird to be referred as "-san" by an upper class student, but at the same time, it felt somewhat nice too. Maybe Kuroko saw Kotone as her equal, despite being in a higher grade level. Tapping away at her keypad, Kotone sent a quick reply back shortly before the bell rang for class.

I'm in 1-A, the first classroom on the bottom floor. Anyway, class is about to begin, so I'll talk to you later!

Hopefully.

As the bell rang, Kotone made sure to turn her phone off and put it away in her school bag. It was her first day at Uesugi Senior High, and Kotone didn't want to find herself in trouble for using her phone during class without permission. Yet despite Kotone's concerns to stay out of trouble, no teacher had yet arrived. There was no sign of any sensei in sight; just Kotone's fellow classmates. Looking around in curiosity, Kotone made eye contact with another twin-tailed girl, whom appeared as if she was trying to remember something. Then, there were the two near Kotone, carrying on a conversation about cats. Mittens the Wondercat, to be exact.

...

Kotone thought about joining their conversation, after all, cats could be cute, but she ultimately decided against it. They seemed to be a tight-knit duo of friends, and Kotone felt nervous about interjecting into their conversation. In the end, Kotone was nothing but a stranger to them... but she did already make a friend today...

The sound of a classroom door opening drew Kotone back into reality as her eyes settled on a man with messy black hair, seemingly out of breath. Apparently their teacher had been running late, and hurried to class as fast as he could. Muttering an apology between breaths, the teacher approached the podium and chalkboard, writing the kanji for Tanaka on the board.

"Gomen, gomen! I was caught up in the copy room." Tanaka-sensei explained to the class once they had all taken their respective seats. Awkwardly scratching the back of his head, Tanaka-sensei continued to address his students. "Er, I'm not the greatest at introductions, but I am Tanaka-sensei. I hope we'll all get along this year and have fun together as a class."

Taking a casual, more relaxed stance, Tanaka-sensei clasped his hands as he scanned the room. "So, why don't we go ahead and introduce each other to our classmates?" Tanaka-sensei finished, to which Kotone wondered who would take the plunge first. Ultimately, the first year was never quite first when it came to things like introducing herself, just like their teacher had been.

Uesugi High School, Class 1-A
8:30 AM

Nanako rose her hand, indicating she’d like to go first.

Nanako smiled widely, as if she was a shark on the prowl. The black-haired Japanese girl wasn’t a shy girl. Back in her last school she had always shown initiative and proven herself as a go-getter. She wasn’t going to be one of those NEETs who sat at the back of the class waiting for the teacher to force them to introduce themselves in front of the classroom. That aside, she was nervous though she dared not show it. This was a new school and a new avenue to make first impressions that would last the remainder of her teenaged experience. She didn’t want to mess it up, but she didn’t want to seem weird or offbeat, or like a girl who was trying too hard to get noticed. As she stood up and took the proper posture she thought for a minute her heart was going to explode.

“My name is Matsutoya Nanako!” She exclaimed in a cheery tone, though not loud enough the other students would think she was screaming at them. “I’m fifteen years old and well, erm, I’m from here in Fukushima, though I know a lot about other places! I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone! I enjoy shogi, the works of Arakawa Hiromi and Katō Kazue, and anything that seems fun. I hope we can be great friends and have a great year together!”

8:31am

It turned out Hiroshi's aim was off in hind-sight, but it didn't matter in the long run; all that mattered in the end was that she managed to get the boy's attention, which she ultimately got. As soon as she saw him get up off the seat, Hiroshi immediately followed suit, unhooking her bag from her desk and heaving it on her shoulder. She'd zipped it back up of course, before setting off. She nodded in acknowledgement of the boy's thanks... though in reality, she should be the one to thank him for complying without asking the slightest question. Hiroshi didn't know what kind of scene she'd be making over that one lousy seat, or rather, what kind of scene the Asperger's in her would've demanded the rest of her brain to come up with. But she was thankful that such a thing wouldn't come to pass.

In any case, Hiroshi moved quickly to regain her rightful seat, before anyone else would think to take it from her. She grabbed the chair in her haste and pulled it away, trading it with the one for a nearby desk. Hiroshi had a very particular thing against seats being "kept warm for her"; the only tush she wanted to know was on a chair each day was her own. In any case, the teacher eventually arrived, and announced that class was to officially begin from that point on.

"I am Kurihara-sensei, and I'll be teaching your class this year. I hope we'll all have a great year together, and that each of you learn something and become successful high school students this year," said the teacher, "Now, why don't we begin introducing ourselves to our fellow classmates?"

'Oh joy; even more time wasting,' Hiroshi faintly groaned as this thought came across her mind. She was expecting to learn a lot of things this year, but other people's names was not one of them. She did not want to sit there and wait for people to talk about their hobbies or their backstories... or even any pleasantries. She just wanted them over and done with. So, instead of the student that Kurihara-sensei had implied was to go first, Hiroshi decided that she'd take the initiative.

"Oshiro Hiroshi," she said in a matter-of-factly tone, "Let's just hurry this along, now; I haven't got all day to spend not actually learning things..."

Uesugi High School - Class 1-A | 08:30ish | April 2nd

Entranced by the thrilling tales of the shenanigans of one Wondercat, Yuuki didn’t notice her classroom getting more and more full until the shrill bell cut through all conversations and forced glances toward the front of the classroom. Normally, that would be the cue for the instructor to introduce themself and then begin everyone’s favorite event: classroom introductions. But…

The silence from the front of the classroom was deafening. The silence from the rest of the classroom, however, was nonexistent. Conversations continued with only the briefest of pauses and stolen glances all around. Yuuki herself couldn’t help but turn back to Jun to finish the Wondercat story, yet her mind wandered. What would make a teacher late on the first day? An educational emergency? What would that even be like?

She was just about to comment on the missing teacher when a door crashed open. The sound swung Yuuki around. In came a rather winded apologizing man. He scribbled his name on the board then explained why he was late. He was...odd. Awkward. A far cry from some of the super strict instructors she had had before. It felt weird being on the receiving end of a tardiness excuse. Yuuki leaned forward, sizing the guy up…

Then let out a silent sigh of relief before leaning back. He seemed alright. Laid back. Harmless. Of course, they always say that one should never judge a book by its cover. But what do they know? And...who are they anyway? Weird.

When Tanaka-sensei inevitably called for introductions, Yuuki prepared to stand and deliver. It was best to get these things out of the way early rather than wait. At least, in her experience it was. If you waited too long, people stopped paying attention. And then? Complete and total social isolation. For an entire year. Yuuki shuddered.

But one of the girls nearby beat her to the punch, her tiny hand shooting into the air like a rocket ship blasting into lift-off. Yuuki turned her gaze to the volunteer. She was small. Very small. Coupled with the twin-tails, the girl looked like any little sister in Japan. It was a bold look, but she liked it. Yuuki’s hand instinctively rose to her forehead, her fingers lightly brushing her scar. Probably not a look that she’d be imitating anytime soon.

The girl who enthusiastically introduced herself as Matsutoya Nanako seemed nice! Granted, Yuuki didn’t know the first thing about shogi, and the names Arakawa Hiromi and Katō Kazue meant absolutely nothing to the girl...but she was cheerful! And she said she liked fun. You can’t like fun and still be a bad person. It’s like a rule or something.

When the girl had finished, Yuuki rose her hand, calling dibs on second. Her heart began to race as she pivoted in her seat. Pushing up against both the desk and the back of her seat, Yuuki climbed to a standing position.

“Hi! I’m Itou Yuuki. Also fifteen. Pleased to meetcha!” she announced, bowing. “I play guitar a little bit. I know I’m not all that great yet, but my dream is to just one day travel the world and make music.” the grinning girl said earnestly. Was it a wild fantasy? Probably. But just saying it felt so right.

“So, I don’t really know Fukushima all that well,” she continued after a short pause. “...so if anyone knows anywhere good to eat, please let me know!”

And with that, Yuuki lowered herself back into her seat.

Uesugi High School - Class 1-A | 08:30ish | April 2nd

Jun was animatedly sharing his most recent Mittens the Wondercat story when the bell rang. He leaned to his side to look around Yuuki, but to his surprise there was no teacher in sight. Late on the first day? That was kind of tacky. Poor form. He couldn’t help but feel a slight pang of disappointment at the thought of having a slacker teacher. This was Uesugi...it was hard enough for Jun to even get it. Without a reliable teacher, he would be doomed. Well...maybe not doomed. He’d find some way of surviving...but it wouldn’t be easy.

Yuuki turned back to him, so Jun continued his Wondercat tale...at least at the beginning. It was pretty obvious that she wasn’t really listening, so Jun switched it up. He began listing the ingredients and recipe for his grandmother’s homemade spaghetti (the previous night’s dinner). Yuuki simply nodded her head and muttered things like ‘Wow’ and ‘Really?’. Completely gone. Jun was just about to slip in some insults, just to clear the air consequence free, when the door opened. Jun rolled his eyes, ready to see what the slacker-teacher would look like.

It took every bit of self-control Jun had not to swoon.

The man that had just walked into the classroom was quite possibly the most beautiful man that Jun had ever seen.

Completely flustered, his gaze remained fixated on the teacher as he strolled over to the board and scrawled out the kanji that Jun suspected would be written many times over somewhere in his notebook over the next few months. Tanaka-sensei. What a nice name. The threat of swoonage became dangerously high when Tanaka-sensei turned and faced the class. It was the eyes, dammit! The eyes!

Feeling his cheeks begin to burn, Jun dropped his gaze to his desk and tried to calm down. A mixture of shame, embarrassment, and longing flooded the boy. Puberty was a cruel bitch. A crush on the teacher? Really? It wasn’t fair. Maybe it was a mistake? Jun looked up, but after only a few moments the puberty cocktail hit him again. Definitely a crush. He couldn’t help but get incredibly embarrassed at the thought of anyone finding out. Pre-embarrassment: truly the best kind of embarrassment.

When Tanaka-sensei asked for introductions, Jun had to suppress a nervous laugh. How was he supposed to stand up and introduce himself to everybody when he couldn’t even look at his teacher without blushing? One crisis at a time, please, that’s all he was asking for.

Luckily, someone else took the bullet. A short girl apparently named Matsutoya Nanako went first. Jun liked her because of that alone. But she did seem friendly too. In a way, she reminded him of his sister... He would have to get to know her sometime.

Up next was Yuuki. Of course it was. She regurgitated a bunch of things that he had known about her forever, then fished for even more places to inevitably drag him to for the sole purpose of scamming a free meal. He was on to her little game. It wasn’t right.

He’d rather take Tanaka-sensei to those places.

Jun shook his head. Couldn’t let stray thoughts like that one float. That was a true dangerous game.

When Yuuki finished her speil and slowly sat back down, Jun debated whether or not to take the plunge. He really didn’t want to. But ultimately...he decided to do it. He couldn’t live with the dread.

Standing up and giving a little bow, Jun spoke nervously, looking anywhere and everywhere as to avoid eye contact with Sensei. “H-hello! My name is sixteen and I’ll be Ishikawa Jun next month.” he paused, wincing before he continued with a correction. “Err, I mean, my name is Ishikawa Jun and I am fifteen. I’ll be sixteen next month.” Jun mentally scolded himself. Mistakes were made. “Uhm...I like movies, mainly foreign ones, and I want to become a director someday. Uhh... oh! I hope we can all get along.”

With that done, Jun offered another nervous little bow and quickly returned to his seat.

Public speaking was the worst.

Genjo Arata

Arata made his way, from his seat, up to the front. He shifted slightly, due to nerves, before he made his address to the class. "Genjo Arata, pleasure to meet you all." He bowed his head slightly, trying to hide his nerves. "I don't know any of you, but I do hope we get along this year. I'm nearly seventeen." He stumbled over his words, quickly adding his age at the end, nearly having forgotten it.

He made his way back to his desk, by the window. He sat down and breathed out, it wasn't his turn anymore.

Jonathan Harper

“Nice to meet you too, my name is Jon.” Jon gave Kana a smile as he greeted her. He could hear the teacher walk in and turned to face her. As she spoke to the class he listened intently to not make a mistake in translating. Jon still found it difficult at times to keep up with Japanese. Once she was done speaking she indicates that the person in the front should introduce themself. As the person was rising to their feet, another student in the middle just began to introduce herself. Jon was surprised and thought it was quite rude, something he didn't expect something like this to happen so soon. Leaning back towards Thomas he grinned and whispered in English to him. “Is it necessary that in every class there is someone incapable of following directions?”

Looking back towards the front of the class he watched as another kid walked up to the front of the class to introduce himself. This kid seemed nicer than the previous one and at least didn't try to make a scene. Looking around Jon could tell the class was frozen and unsure what to do after the disruption of the first student. Feeling his heart rise into his mouth he stood up to face the class. Jon was getting annoyed from introducing himself once already. “Hi, since we seem to not be going in order I'll go. My name is Jonathan Harper and I am here to play baseball. I hope to learn about all of you while I am here. Now to keep this going Thomas will go next.” He nudged his friends chair while sitting down and turned to watch him attentively, all the while a bright smile plastering his face.

Kana was taken in by Jon's seemingly warm tone and nodded back before taking her seat just as the teacher walks in.
The cue for introductions was meant to be a bit tense yet anxious as you got to know who you'd be spending the year with. Instead, it was cut with a knife when another student abruptly introduced themselves and hinted for others to do the same.
Some of the other introductions were not as short and brief, which Kana did not mind. It gave her some insight on who best it would be to make friends with. There wasn't really any order so to say, so when the students near her gave their introductions, she figure that she will go next.

Kana stood up and took a small bow before saying,
"Good to meet you all, my name is Nishikori Kana, I enjoy music and playing tennis. I’m also new to this area and open to making new friends. As long as as you treat me with respect I shall do the same for you, but I hope we can all get along.” After her small introduction, she remembers some of her other classmate’s words. Some more distant and cold than others. And although she can see how minimal and unnecessary these icebreakers are, nevertheless your first words spoken here can either fade to the background or leave an impression on how people will view you the rest of the year (unless you prove them otherwise).

Yukine Tachibana

Classroom 1A

Yukine stared at herself in the mirror, brushing her hair, straightening her skirt, and pulling at the sleeves of her uniform to make sure everything was just right. This was her first day in a new school in a new town full of new people that she knew nothing about. It was a good school, and it was close to where her parents worked, but now the only contact she had with her all her old friends was through pictures and text messages, but those were no substitute for actually being around. Think positive, Yukine, she thought. There's bound to be lots of nice people, and you can tell everyone about the great time you're having with your new friends. She took a deep breath and adjusted her hair clip with a white lily on it. Even if people were nice, appearances still mattered. When she was finally satisfied with how she looked, she snapped a picture and sent it to one of her friends. Of course she didn't expect a response right away; they were getting ready for school too. But still, a quick "You look cute!" would've been great for her confidence. Maybe it was taking a while for the message to send...

She headed out her door, picking up her bento box with a sticky note that said, "Good luck on your first day of school! We're proud of you! Love, Mom and Dad." It would've been nice to hear it in person, but they had to leave for a morning meeting. It wasn't a long walk to school. She noticed some students in the Uesugi uniform zip past her on their bikes, but she didn't have one. Her last school had been very close as well, and she honestly preferred walking. She glanced to the left and right, making note of any stores that looked like a good place to eat or shop. If you make some friends, they'll tell you what places are good... She scurried through the crowds as the students converged by the school gates, made a brief stop at her locker, then navigated her way through the halls to classroom 1-A.

She took a deep breath and stepped inside. So far so good, She thought as she took a seat at the front of the room. She always liked to sit up front, close to the board so she could hear and see the teacher with the fewest distractions. She was definitely no athlete, tiny as she was, so she had to make sure her academics were top notch. Before the teacher arrived, she took out her notebook (which had a floral design on the cover), a pen, and some whiteout. She dated the top of the page and took a deep breath. Okay. All set. Now, just to wait for the teacher... She folded her hands and waited. And waited. And then the bell rang.

A chill ran down Yukine's spine and her heart thumped heavily in her chest. Why is there no teacher? Oh God, did I go into the wrong room!? She bit her lip and was about to check the door, just to make sure she was in the right place, when a disheveled man hobbled into the room, casually tossing around apologies. Yukine let out a breath of relief. Better to have a tardy teacher than be tardy herself. He introduced himself a Tanaka-sensei and seemed nice enough, then it came time for introductions. One girl volunteered immediately to go first, and she certainly seemed cheerful and friendly. "Matsutoya-san..." Yukine whispered to herself, committing the name to memory. She seemed approachable, and she was even from Fukushima, so maybe she could show her around. A few more students went, including a music enthusiast and an awkward boy, then Yukine took advantage of the brief lull to introduce herself.

She stood up, turned to face the class with her hands folded behind her back, and gave everyone her brightest smile. "Hello, everyone. My name is Tachibana Yukine. I just moved to Fukushima, so I'm still trying to take everything in. I hope I can make lots of friends. Everyone seems super-nice so far, so I don't think that will be a problem." She gave a quick glance around the classroom to take in everyone's face, but then her eyes went wide. That face was so familiar, but it couldn't be... "Ah... K-Kotone? I didn't know--" She cut herself off. What started off as an awesomely executed intro was now tapering off into the new girl gawking at her cousin. "Oh, sorry!" She quickly took her seat again and stared down at her notebook, praying that she didn't secure her reputation as "that weird girl."

Saito Ryuji

Roof

It was his first day back and he already was gonna be late to class, for some reason Ryuji decided to it would be better to wander about the halls and found himself lounging on the roof and smoking while nobody else was around, his mind went back to last year, where he felt like he was in a completely different world, distant memories of fights came to the front of his mind, the moment he smoked his first cigarette, then the memory of his pops came to the front of his mind, a sharp pain in his side made him groan before he remembered the summer. Him and his father was on the road heading off to somewhere, he remembered the argument they were having about his "future" and the path he was going down, how he changed from being a boy to a being a thug getting into fights with his peers and getting punched by his father being called an idiot.

When he punched his father back he remembered the mistake he made, but before he could dive deep into his own memories the ashes from his cigarette landed on his pants and brought him back to reality. He brushed off the ashes quickly and flicked the butt off the roof, he stood up looking at his phone turning on the screen and noticing that he was was gonna be late to the first class he looked up at the clouds before stomping off to class with his hands shoved into his pockets, he tried to keep the thoughts of his father out of his head while he walked and only ended up taking a heavy breath as he made his way though the hall, once his hand was on the door to his class he swallowed and opened the door with his tough guy look plastered on his face.

Classroom 2-C
@Jade113

The second he stepped in the classroom, his eyes met the teacher first, she didn't look like much really, but he felt if he really was bored he could probably just tune her out and stare at her till the class is over. Then his attention went over to the blonde in the back of the room, his tough guy facade seemed to fall apart, his eyes went wide and he couldn't really look away from her; seeing her in the back he knew he would have to make his move fast and walked to the seat to the back next to hers and tried to get comfy in his seat before stealing a glance at her.

She was fucking hot and he couldn't believe he got to sit next to a chick like her, he could tell she wasn't a normal Japanese girl she was mixed with something else to get the type of curves she had, he looked away before she could get a moment to look back at him; four eyes on the other side of her didn't seem like he'd try anything on her and with him in between the the other guy in the back row he didn't really worry too much about trying to get closer to her. Suddenly he remembered the introductions and decided to take a moment to stand and kept his hands in his pockets." Sup, the name's Saito Ryuji, yeah like the footballer, I use to like baseball back in Okinawa, but ever since I moved over here I got into boxin', call me Ryuji or Saito I don't really care either way, just don't get on my nerves too much and you'll be on my good side kay'?"

Once he flopped back down in his seat he put an elbow down on his desk and rested his cheek on his closed hand looking around the room wondering if he wasn't the only one late to the class today, he wondered if he actually made it on time and his cellphone clock was off, maybe the cracked screen was over a number and he couldn't tell the time correctly? Ryuji just leaned back crossing his arms and stealing a glance over at his classmate trying to keep his tough guy look going strong, he wondered if he'd have to fight anyone later this year before shaking the thought from his head and looking at the others in silence.

Silently judging his classmates and taking their names, Ryunosuke watched intently behind his 'dead fish eyes'. Although it was almost a given to do such a thing for him, he could hardly explain it with words. Or, rather, he would refuse to admit such a reason- that being wariness- against a possible 'threat'. While there wasn't any real threat to the normal person, he saw anyone willing to annoy or needlessly interact with him as a threat that needed to be left be, even more so than his normal distance from others. As for what caused such a mindset, he did not care to even think about that.

Kurihara-sensei. Seen her around, can't make an impression yet.
Oshiro Hiroshi. If she leaves me alone, I'll leave her alone.
Genjo Arata. Nearly seventeen, good for him...
America One-no, Jonathan Harper, nudging America Two, rather, Thomas, on. Decent Japanese, but a bit formal. I guess that's what they teach.
Saito Ryuji. I wonder if he's trying to be like Sasuke, or Jotaro. Try a little less hard.
Well, damn. Looks like it's my turn.

Scanning the room, Ryunosuke realized in horror that the others stared back. Be it fate or groupthink, he was expected by 'society' to go up, and it wasn't like he could fight back. Despite his disdain for the situation at hand, Ryunosuke still wasn't keen on having a strong tatemae- 'social face': as much as others could try to please others or smile unconvincingly, he would never feel a need to bend to another person's will. But regardless of how much he wanted to stand up or not, again, did he really have a choice?

Readjusting his glasses with his right hand, and using his left to help him stand up by pushing off the desk, he did it. Looking around for a moment to see if anyone had awkwardly gone up at the same time as him, he was silently relieved to be alone. Finally, he began.
"Ahem. Suzuki Ryunosuke. Don't bother me and I'll do the same."
He sat down, thinking of anything but how good of a job he did.

Uesugi High School, Class 2-C
8:40 AM

Aya sighed as she stood up next, supposing she should go next.

“Naganohara Aya.” She uttered, introducing herself casually, though not with the ‘I couldn’t care less’ debonair of Suzuki Ryunosuke. Whilst she agreed with him in the sense of people bothering her, she was taught better than show such discontent and act like she was better than anyone else, even if she thought otherwise; which she definitely did considering the amount of gaijin and unfamillar faces that did not matter in the grand scheme of things. Then again, even if the classroom was full of super-famillar faces she really wouldn't have had a much different opinion.

“I’m a member of the Uesugi Girl’s Baseball Club, I’m glad to meet you all. I hope we have a decent year.”

She sat back down, wondering who was going to introduce themselves next and how they wanted to present themselves to the rest of the class.

Saito Ryuji

While the introductions of everyone dragged on, Ryuji caught some of the names of his classmates and kept a mental reminder of their names and which some of them belonged to so he wouldn't get anyone angry at him for calling them the wrong name, he stretched out his arms ended up putting his head down on the desk feeling tired even though this wasn't even a class and let out a quiet yawn. When the dark green haired girl stood up and said her name, Ryuji spoke without thinking while his drowsiness mounted on him in the moment."Nishikori? Seems more like Nishinori."

He didn't even realize that he said it aloud till four eyes next to the window began to stare at him, and then look at the others, Ryuji couldn't read him till he stood up and said his name to everyone. He spoke in a professional manner and when he did Ryuji sorta got an idea of how this guy was, he seemed like he was already a salary man and school was his job, now when he stared more at the guy he noticed his posture announced Salary man in training; Ryuji would see alot of them after school with some of them still looking uptight and moving like robots and this guy almost matched him.

The second Suzuki sat back down Ryuji looked forwards towards the other girls in the front right as another girl began introducing herself in front of everyone, Ryuji tuned her out while he kinda stared at seaweed hair on his right before looking back forwards to pigtails, he caught her given name Aya but didn't hear her surname." Aya!" He called her name." Could you say your last name again, I didn't hear ya' from all the way in the back." He cleaned out one of his ears with a pinkie and took it out with a pop sound. He cleaned off the pinkie on the side of his pants before leaning forwards waiting for her to say her name again, for some reason he could feel the others looking at him including wannabe salary man.

Uesugi High School, Class 2-C
8:40 AM*

Is this guy fucking serious?! What the hell?

Aya raised a brow, trying to fight the urge to turn her smirk into a scowl. She had not even been sitting in her seat for longer than a few seconds before the question was remarked toward her in such an offensive way that would strike as inappropriate to any sensible Japanese person. To some surprise she realized that she had more respect for the american gaijin then someone who had no excuse not knowing any better.

She looked at him, turning in her seat as she attempted to get a better idea of who he thought he was to defer to her in such a way. Even if he wasn't paying attention and missed it there were a number of ways to request her name that were far less rude.

“It’s Naganohara. Na-ga-no-hara. Please address me in a less crude way, thanks.”

Thomas Dircks

Thomas just looked at John with a look of annoyance at his friend volunteering him to introduce himself in front of the class. “Oh your so gonna get it for this.” He whispered with a smile in english. Thomas hated talking in front of people with a passion. It just made him uncomfortable since he always felt everyone was judging him. He did his best however to mask this when ever he had to do something such as this.

Walking confidently up to the front of the class he hoped to start off the year right and not make a fool of himself. “Hi im Thomas Dircks, I love rock music and riding my motorcycle.” There was a slight murmur amongst his classmates when he brought up his motorcycle. Most of this was probably due to the them realizing who he was since most of them had at least seen the bike at some point last year. “I play baseball here at school and plan on leading the team to a championship victory. I hope to get to know those who I didn't get to talk to last year.” he finished with a smile before returning to his seat. Upon sitting back down he made sure to elbow Jon in the side discreetly. Leaning over to his friend he whispered "was that really necessary?"

watching the other students go he tried to remember if had known them at all last year. Some of them looked familiar but no one he could call a friend. Most of the students had generic introductions like im so and so I grew up in city a and like pie. it was quite boring and to be honest he hated this part of the year. Maybe it wont be to bad though he thought to himself.

Igarashi Renzo

While the rest of the world was doing important stuff, Igarashi Renzo was nestled under his blankets, a brand new laptop in front of him and lighting up the small cavern he'd created.

And he was silently bawling his eyes out.

"Crap! Get up Ren! Quickly!" His sister, Igarashi Mari, shouted as she burst into his room, her hair disheveled.

In response, Ren poked his head out from under the blankets, tears streaming down his face.

"Nee-chan..." He hiccuped. "Menma just passed on Nee-chan..."

"I don't know who that is, and I don't care!" Mari said, yanking the blanket off the crying giant. "You only have twenty minutes before you need to be at school! Hurry up and get ready!"

At that, Ren's eyes grew even wider than his sisters, and he leapt off the mattress with a panicked shout.

"Just get dressed!" She continued, running from the room. "You haven't got time for a proper breakfast, but you can take a piece of toast!"

"Thanks Nee-chan!" He shouted in response, almost getting his head stuck in his shirt before finally managing to pull it on properly. A few moments later, he was finally dressed, albeit not very neatly. He quickly grabbed his bag and sprinted from the room, snatching the toast his older sister held out for him on the way to the door.

"Try to make some friends!" She called after him, before seeming to realise her own mistake and correcting herself. "And don't scare them away by accident!"

As he ran through the now mostly empty backstreets around his sisters house, he did what any self respecting high schooler was contractually obligated to do, at least if they were running to school with a piece of toast hanging from their mouth.

Introduce themselves to their imaginary audience through an internal monologue.

Hi! My name is Igarashi Renzo! I just moved here from the small mountain town of Yukimori, and now I live with my big sister! I've only been here for a few days, but I'm about to start my first day at Fukushima Uesugi Senior High. If things go well, I'll make a bunch of friends, become a little smarter, and maybe, just maybe, meet someone special!

As he ran, he timed his monologue perfectly so he'd cross another road when the word romance flitted through his mind, thinking that perhaps he might actually bump into a cute girl and start his high school days right!

He got hit by a scooter.

But hey, it says something about his optimism that, upon realising what had just happened, his first thought was something along the lines of 'At least it wasn't a car!'

A little stunned, he quickly got up and ran over to the driver of the scooter, who watched in horror as the giant boy approached him. However, instead of beating the crap out of him like he'd been expecting, the man was surprised when Ren simply looked at his face in the scooters mirrors.

"Phew, I was worried I might be bleeding." He said, deciding to ignore the sizeable black eye he'd gotten when he hit the ground. "Now that would've been embarrassing to try and explain! Thanks for letting me use your mirror mister!"

And then he sprinted off again.

At this point, he figured he probably wouldn't make it to class before it started, but hopefully he wouldn't be too late, right?

Thankfully, he managed to dash through the school gates just as he heard the bell, and he dashed towards the class his sister had told him he'd be in, 1A.

Unfortunately, Ren is an idiot, and one that came from a two room school, at that. Even then, it's hardly an excuse to take a full five minutes to find a class, especially after running past it twice before finally realising.

However, when he finally did realise, he wasted no time in flinging the door open and running in.

"I'M SORRY I'M LATE!" He shouted, somehow still smiling despite his bruised and battered appearance. "MENMA PASSED ON AND I GOT HIT BY A SCOOTER!"

Kana shoots a look at the other student who made a comment about her last name.
"What's that suppose to even mean?"

Never the less Kana lets it slide. Much to her own values, there was already enough drama to be dealt with this morning.
As introductions dragged on, Kana couldn't help but be drowned into her own thoughts. What will Uesugi be able to offer her that her old school didn't already? If she talked to her parents maybe they'd let her go back to Kyoto and study there.

Will she make friends here that can be as close to her as the ones back home? As these thoughts race through her mind, Kana found herself not paying attention to any of the other introductions and mentally scolded herself for being a hypocrite.
