Born without a mean twig in her body, Dekkori is a kind soul scarred by tragedy. In her twilight years, she seeks meaning and companionship, hoping to make herself useful to someone. anyone. She maintains her upbeat spirit as much as she can, though when things are dark, and her hope wanes, she is consumed by melancholy. Dekkori's demeanor solidifies around children, and any who direclty need her care, into a caring but stern mother-figure who's resolve does not break.

Dekkori approaches quietly, and interacts with a gentle touch. She takes criticism poorly in that she tends to shy away when scolded, rather than try to improve or change. Though she is caring, she is not brave, and can easily panic if confronted with danger, though she can dig deep and find bravery if she tries, or if she needs to. Morning is her domain, and she always greets the sun whenever she can, seeking to prepare herself before her day truely begins.

History

Dekori's story from very early on, was one of struggle and success. Growing up in a bygone era, learning the art of potion-making, making a living, finding love and settling down, she lived a peaceful idyllic life. Selling potions to travelers, watching her husband work glass into baubles, bottles and everything in between, raising her two sons and seeing the Deku kingdom bloom again, she thought she had her fairy-tale ending. It was never destined to last, and as the kingdom prepared for war, she saw her sons conscripted into the King's army. It took less than a year for news of her sons' fates to return to her. Slain in battle by the Gerudo in a crushing defeat. Her heart broke alongside her husband's, and they greived together. Together, their hearts mended and they turned away from the world and it's pain, focusing on their crafts and one another in the small mote of warm light cast by their love.

Years passed, and the War grew worse as losses on each side mounted. The Deku King called upon any forces he could muster, Dekori's husband was called upon to take up arms his life for the kingdom. Dread gnawing at her heart, the Deku alchemist saw her husband off just as she had her sons. She spent her days awaiting news on the war while she toiled away in her forest home, every month receiving a letter from her beloved until news reached her of a particularly devastating battle. From that battle on, there was no word of her husband, not even of his death. It took three more years for the war to end, and when it did, as had been agreed upon with the truce, prisoners of war were released. Still Dekkori's husband did not return. A month after the end of the war, a haggard soldier found his way to her doorstep, hand wrapped in the string of her husband's glass wedding bauble, hand-made to signify their union. She cried that day.

After the War, and the final proof of her husband's passing, Dekkori felt deeply lost. Everything that mattered to her had disappeared and now her home sat empty, a sad reminder of what once was. Rather than cling to a destroyed dream, she abandoned her home and set off into the forest bearing only the bottles her husband had made for her, a lantern and the two glass baubles the pair had worn since their wedding. For a time, she simply wandered without purpose. She fell back into routines, collecting ingredients for potions, greeting the morning sun, polishing her glassware. Eventually, she concluded that wandering was doing her no good, and that she should at least try to find something to do. Her skills entirely revolving around medicine-making, she made her way from town to town to offer potions and poultices to any who needed it. feverish children, wounded guardsmen and dazed stable workers, Dekkori helped anyone that needed it, asking for no more than a roof for a night.

Travel was not easy, and at her age the result was all but certain. In Dekkori's twilight years, she has begun to Wither. Knowing her time was always growing nearer, she has paid it little attention, staving off it's effects with potions and medicine. She is determined to continue helping the people of Hyrule and beyond for as long as she has left. 

Strengths

Alchemistress on the go!
Dekkori is a seasoned alchemist, and has a vast amount of experience to pull from. This has allowed the Deku to write a guide book on plants and ingredients useful to alchemists of all kinds, though the book is abnormally small, fitting comfortably in her tiny hands. She has learned many recipes, and can craft a vast array of curatives and medicines with the proper tools, though her most used reciped by far are "cold", in that they require only water, ingredients and time. Maybe a little stirring, or sunlight.

Loving Mementos
Dekkori's late husband was a glass-worker skilled enough to produce enchanted glass, and it shows in her glasswares. Enchanted bottles that never break and are rumored to be able to turn blades as well as a wizard's spells. Her wedding baubles are made from the same material, though they serve no purpose now.

Bubble Blaster
Dekkori has a faint magical talent, and it shows in her ability to blow magic bubbles as a method of protecting herself. They are not powerful, but they can persuade animals and ne'er-do-wells to leave her alone, or knock down the odd fruit for an easy midday lunch.

Weaknesses:

Diminutive Deku
Deku are small, weak and light, meaning they possess little if any physical prowess aside from agility. In a melee, a Deku is always out of it's element and of little use.

Withering
A Deku that is Withering is a Deku that is in great danger. Withering is a degenerative condition that continually weakens the afflicted, drying out foliage, weakening branches and limbs, and dulling the senses. Potions can heal a Withered Deku, but they cannot fully replace a body's ability to heal itself, and will eventually lose effectiveness.

Roa is an optimist tempered with an education of the realities of the world. She idolizes Queen Zelda for finding peace for Hyrule without bloodshed, seeing great value in diplomacy between the people under the Goddesses. She also firmly believes that the Queen is making good on her responsibilities as a person of the Goddesses-blessed Royal bloodline. It is Roa's firm belief that if someone has power it is their responsibility to do good with it, rather than squander a gift or influence on selfishness. To try and fail still puts a person in her good graces, as never trying at all helps no one. Those that need the most help are the spiritually broken, and there are a great many spiritually broken people after the Greudo War.

Though she was trained well, she never managed to acheive the "quiet devout" attitude of the other priestesses. She keeps a level head, though she is fairly easy to read because she does little to conceal how she feels. When it comes to actually talking to people, she does her best to avoid making assumptions and remain civil. Roa tends to be very agreeable, always trying to view things from another person's perspective though viewpoints that stray too far from hers are more elusive. Some have described her disposition as being similar to someone of noble birth, though she seems to take offense to such comparisons, revealing a dislike for the "noble" class.

Her temper can be found despite her training, and she has a bad habit of letting her perceptions muddy her opinion of individuals. One method of provoking her is talking down to her while disparaging the teachings of the Goddesses, as her cordiality does not exist to protect anyone's ego, nor to endure the rationalizing of cruelty or selfishness. She can also become irritated if someone she tries to help ignores advice and refuses to improve or fix what they can.

History

Roa, like many of her generation, were born just short of the Zora Civil War. Some of her earliest memories are of leaving Zora's Domain in the night, her parents' faces marred with worry. At the time she had no understanding of what was happening, or any of the danger that had been growing in the Zora's ancestral home. What she did know, however, was that the rivers and ocean were much warmer than the elevated river basin of Zora's Domain, and there was much, much more space! Not long after her family had left the river basin, she was joined again by other Zora children, some familiar, some new. In the Ocean, those who had opted to leave Zora's Domain for safety made their new home. It could hardly be called a town, but it was home, and it was safe from the conflict brewing in the waters of Zora's Domain.

As with all Zora, Roa spent her early youth with her peers learning the history of her people from the elders, reading and writing, math and the like consumed most of her schooling and ocupied her mind. As busy as the children were, none could deny that more and more Zora were joining them in their new home, and many could feel the frustration in the waters. Things were growing worse, and it was inevitable that their elders would teach them about more recent history. The Zora were becoming a divided people, and war with their own was inevitable. The elder's words were proven true when word came down from Zora's Domain that a war had begun, and the self-proclaimed "River Zora" had laid sole claim to Zora's Domain. Once more danger was near, and once more Roa and her village moved farther into the Lanayru Sea and into what would come to be known as Zora's Reef. Their proximity to their Temple of Water was seen as a benefit, as they could rely on the priests and priestesses of the temple, and likewise support them.

When she came of age and her talent for magic was discovered, Roa's education became twofold. While her friends and peers left to play in the greater ocean at the end of their schooling each day, Roa stayed behind and practiced with the clergy to foster growth in her magical abilities. Roa was gifted, but the training was hard, and progress came slowly to her. Despite her troubles she would persist in the hopes that she could, like the Zora in the temple, help others. Nautrally, when she was offered a place in the clergy she accepted, to the joy of her parents and peers. When her standard schooling finished, she would continue to learn at the Temple instead of studying as an apprentice or traveling.

Training to be a Priestess was as difficult as her magic training, as Roa was stubborn. The philosophy of always seeking to understand others' motivations, and the granting of forgiveness to all who sought it troubled her. She couldn't understand because she had been driven from her home twice in her life by people she might have to forgive. For the longest time she struggled in her studies, until one day a priest said something that caused it all to click into place. "Everyone is suffering." With her revelation, her training continued much more smoothly. She busied herself pouring over tomes full of history and lore seeking to better understand both sides of a war. With so much history laid out before her, she saw trends in the Zora people's history. Trends she could not ignore. Disaster and Tragedy always struck, one after another.

With Hyrule's war with the Gerudo unwinding under Queen Zelda's diplomacy, Roa raced the clock. With the kindgdom's headwaters at risk, they were sure to get involved. Without a doubt, war would again find the Zora, and Roa had the suspicion that her people once again that a curse sat at the heart of it. As she completed her training to become a Priestess of the Goddesses, she wrote an apologetic letter to the priesthood, her parents and her friends. She left in the night, her letter pleading her case in her stead as she ran to Hyrule in search of help, or a lead.

Strengths

Healing Faith
Roa is a Mage-Priestess, which naturally includes the use of magic for noble porpoises purposes like healing and granting others strength. She has practiced nearly her entire life to use these powers, and it is shown in the strength of her magic and the ease with which she can cast minor spells.

Great Barrier Priestess
Roa's magic training lacked a focus on combat, but all mages should be able to defend themselves. In the interest of protecting themselves, all Zora mages are taught to use magic to protect themselves. The most simple of these applications is the formation of physical barriers to keep a foe at bay. More complex spells can trap and physically bind attackers or summon ethereal weapons of light. This lends itself to a method of fighting composed entirely of casting spells while retreating as necessary.

At Home in the Ocean
Roa is a Zora, thus she can breathe water and swim far faster than anyone of a land-dwelling race. If there's a "Water Temple", she'll probably get stuck doing most of the legwork. finwork. whatever.

Nothing fishy about a Priestess
Being a devotee of the Goddesses confers certain benefits amongst the common folk. Violence against a Priest of Priestess carries with it a stigma, even amongst some theives and bandits. 

Weaknesses

Fish out of Water
To a Zora traveling over land there are countless dangers, but protection from harsh elements is absolutely vital to a Zora's survival, as they are vulnerable to extreme environmental conditions. A lesser danger, though still important, is hydration, and a Zora without water will quickly become dehydrated over the course of a day and a half.

You're Scaring the Fish
Roa can hold her own in a fight, but she has lived a particularly sheltered life. She can be rattled quite easily by surprise attacks, traps and overwhelming forces, reducing her ability to use magic.

Sea Legs
Due to her living a sheltered life in the ocean, Roa is totally unskilled at travel over land. Movement across terrain any more rugged than open plains slows her, and travel on foot tires her out quickly. She can resist tiring using magic, but if she runs out she will quickly become a burden to any traveling group.

Give a man a Fish
Roa's status as a Priestess is not all fun and games- In fact, none of it is fun and games! She has duties that need doing, lest the people of Hyrule suffer. Should she come across something that the Priesthood of the Goddesses is expected to deal with, she cannot ignore it unless she has some greater task already at hand.

I think I cried a little reading Dekkori's backstory. Both characters are approved! I like the Zora the most, but the final decision is always yours to make.

I sank the most work into Roa because Dekkori hurt to think about for too long. I think I'll go with Roa, but I'll sleep on it first.

Though if Vertigo beats me to the post, I'll adjust accordingly. more interesting that way.

I need to inform everyone present that I will be going out of town this Wedensday and probably won't be getting back until Sunday at Noon on US Eastern time. I will have minor internet connectivty but I'm not sure if I will be able to post during this time. Discussed things with Product, and Nadijah's gonna exchange a few words with Telma before catching up with the group. No dramatic falling entrance, alas, but there'll be another chance for her to ruin the mood later, heh.

EDIT: Posted! Sorry 'bout the wait. The second part is set whenever everyone else has entered the well - if someone's not gonna enter, just holler and I can edit it accordingly. But I think everyone is going to get in sooner or later.

Also yeah, she hasn't put together that they're going to save the unborn baby. It was never explicitly stated by Zelda after all - she just asked them to come to her. And to Nadijah, saving some baby is irrelevant to stopping the king.

I feel like it's too late to ask, but I might as well: does Telma's Bar only have a front entrance? I'd think it'd be a bad idea for a secret-entrance to be hidden in the middle of a street.
