So, in spite of the fact that I disagree with Grant Morrison's vaguely defined idea of needing to abandon yourself as an individual in favor of being a conduit for an infinite number of distinct impersonal personalities (I think he was describing the idea of feeding off of other people's personalities in the same manner that Buddy Baker would pick traits from the lifeweb, I think), I actually consider Supergods to be one of the most important books I've ever read, if not actually amongst the most well constructed.

As for Morrisonian Chaos Magick, that I actually believe in one hundred percent. It basically comes down to the idea that your expectations affect the experiences you perceive, so you can reconstruct the reality that you live in as you see fit. It's like a more counter-cultural way of saying that you can choose to see the glass half-full or half-empty. If you actually expect a certain outcome, you'll brace for it and prepare yourself and others for it to happen, increasing it's likelihood. It's the placebo effect dressed as occultism.

I've always considered comic books to be somewhat counter-cultural, though it used to be hard to explain why I had felt that way. But some of the most prolific comic books ever, the ones associated with the British invasion that apparently convinced everybody that comic books are literature, came from writers who had been in punk bands earlier in life (Gaiman, Moore, Morrison, etc.). Looking even further back, though, the reason that comic books got aggressively censored in the nineteen-fifties is the edginess and counter-cultural values presented in the comics of the time.

I thought it was a similar situation as with Spider-Man 2099 where blue was used as an accent for the black section and people just thought that it was blue, so that stuck with later incarnations.

While I haven't found a definitive answer for why Spidey's costume in red & blue, you are right. The costume was originally red and black. I never realized that....

As bad as I think Shazam is looking to be, I still believe nothing beats the lameness of the New Warriors casting.

@NinaDivine I quite like the look of Shazam.

We could always go over the Titans cast if you want.

Yeah, can't really judge Titans yet. It is very pre-production and that's a picture from a lunch break, lol.

Come on, it's a CW show. They don't have the funds to make someone green all the time.

I'd actually rather watch Hynden Iforgotherlastname, Greg Cipes, and Tara Strong play them live action. "Middle Age Titans: GO!"

I just find it terrifying how all the promos around Titans are thus far just Robin.

When I write Dick Grayson, I actually do like to play up the Robin Hood elements that had inspired his particular methodology.

I think that moreso boils down to "Hey, look! A Batman thing you might recognize!", because that's been Warner Bros' logline from day one. If there is a Bat-character to milk money off of, milk they shall.

I'm still horrified to think about whether that was just a label they gave the milk or... y'know. The alternative.

I also think this stems from WB's lack of confidence in DC products that aren't Batman. Kinda like how early-years Marvel would slap Spider-Man's face in the corner of their covers, so even if you were reading some B-list book they'd be reassuring you going "hey, we're the guys who made Spider-Man, and you love Spider-Man, right?" He's the one sure thing they've got; regardless of your feelings on incarnation (x) of character (y), everybody loves Batman.
