Overlord - Glory in a new world

YGGDRASIL Online. A popular MMORPG with a playerbase of dedicated fans across the globe, critically acclaimed and running for years unopposed as the greatest fantasy game of its time that sported an impressive diversity in its player options from base classes go heteromorphic playable species. Items that could change the game itself. Enemies that roamed the open world requiring teamwork from dozens of players to slay and earn rewards worthy of their hard work.

The game remains popular even now as the developers allow the final hours of the games life to dwindle until at last its servers shut down for good. Players who have sunk thousands of hours into this virtual world stay online one last time awaiting the shutdown, wishing their creations and characters a fond heartfelt goodbye.

Yet there is surprise amongst the veterans who awaited the final moment and come to realize, the game and rules have changed permanently. Materialized in a world beyond their own in the bodies of their avatars, their possessions surrounding them even still.
The servants and AI's of your guildhouse are real. They think and breathe and live just as you do, their programmed personality and backstory have bloomed into true personifications of their coding and serve loyally.

With a new frontier ahead, your greatest experience has begun in a new world ripe for the picking..

But will there be just you and your friends eyeing this new opportunity.

Ardent Heralds

Formerly nestled in the heart of a level 25 forest zone, the guildhome of Ardent Heralds was a local favorite to beginner adventurers thanks to the friendliness of its members. Protection and even low level items were often handed out to passing questers atruggling with the areas mobs.
Other members often offered their service during idle times to help with questing in the harder areas of the zone.

Each dignified member that made a habit of aiding low level characters were given an item called [Cloak of Evening]. Each cloak obscures the players gear and class stats, dropping their level to a requested number (10-100). As a lower level character themselves, it was necessary to keep players both from becoming reliant on free aid and allowing lower level characters to get full Exp bonuses from slain mobs.
If a max level character slays the monster, shared exp would gove value to the party based on that players level. Making most mobs killed nearly worthless in exp.

(Note: prevents the use of skills learned at a level higher than you select. Meaning that if you are put at lecel 40, you cannot use 41+ level skills or items.)

Oh. Look at this

Overlord.

Been awhile, Zelosse.

Well, I'll just drop this interest riiiiiight here and get to writing up a CS. Think I'ma be going for a PC/NPC combo here. We're supposed to be members of the 'Ardent Heralds' guild, I take it?

I mean, I'm not restricting anyone to being solely a member of it but it would absolutely mean more work for me.

Count me in.

Can I make a dwarven blacksmith character whose sole aim in the New World is to bring in modern and/or futuristic technology (with the help of magic and science/engineering textbooks that they happened to have transcribed into the guild library)?

@Zelosse Sorry for the double-post, but I think your link for 'Spells' refers to a different 'Overlord'

I thought about taking that admittance of masochism and giving ya more work.

But then I decided to be nice~
Here's two characters for ya.

Shield-bashing Undead Paladin and Fae queen. Do tell if there are problems friend.

@Rune_Alchemist I have problems with illusory forest, as that means id have to tolerate a table flip of sorts should you go rogue and screw with tour teammates.
Rather than a large area can it just be an influence over a single target that lets you manipulate what they see. Illusory foes can stay but will do no damage.

As for the undead knight, the bonuses given by blessing of the fae to their overall stats would make them unstoppable. The armor piercing cannot be allowed for reasons involving ease of victory over my established "villains" of the rp later.
I may have also overlooked this but does she hold her head at all times? Or can she only use one of her items at a time?

I feel we gonna have a konosuba moment where they throw their head into the air to get a view of everyone in a fight and be somewhat well at attacking everyone.

Well, first of all. Tania wouldn't go rogue because she's a good guy. She might heckle and talk about being some fierce demon lord, but Lena will promptly shove her in a jar and give her swift, divine, punishment.

As for the illusions...well, I suppose I thought it was self explanatory that she could already do single-target illusions. Such as messing with a persons senses, hallucinations both auditory and visual. Such as make them think an ally is a foe and vice versa. The Forest was just supposed to be a more AoE version of that where she can't use any other illusion whilst she's using it, so it doesn't really serve much purpose if nerfed to a single target so I'll just remove it then.

Tania isn't much of a direct fighter by herself, hence the beefy bodyguard.

As for the undead knight, the bonuses given by blessing of the fae to their overall stats would make them unstoppable. The armor piercing cannot be allowed for reasons involving ease of victory over my established "villains" of the rp later.

What exactly are ya asking me to nerf here? Her equipment?

She's a tank, she's supposed to be that sorta. She's not going to be doing ninja flips dark souls style with a great shield that weighs as much as she does. I may not have explained it well, but in a fight she's a defensive fighter. Even with a sword and shield she isn't going to be doing much physical damage simply because of how slow she is. Granted, someone does get hit their head is gonna be the one rolling.

I can remove the armor piercing on both of them though if that's going to be a thing.

And typically, yes, her head is attached firmly to her shoulders unless removed. It's not kept on there very well, and Tania does in fact, like playing baseball with it.
