Mina Kreiger (Alloy)

Alloy raised an eyebrow as she took another long drag on her alcohol-free drink, looking at Raymond even as she pulled the straw of her drink away from her lips again.

"Well, i can see where ya' worries would be there. But i've done at least a fair share of the vigilate stuff and stealin' stuff n' such. So this mission we got, i think i can lend a bit of a hand ta' it if nothin' else, eh? But hell, gettin' to relaxed is a bad idea for anyone, even in what i was doin' before this," Mina said, her tone casual yet taking a tad more seriousness to alert Raymond to her honesty in the matter, before giving a small shrug after the last sentence she said.

She then looked to Sofia, giving another casual wave.

"Nice milk choice. Know a guy who has cousins ship in the fresh stuff, and hell he made the city's best hot cocoa!" she said to Sofia, giving a small grin more looking on to address the others that were approaching her or otherwise right now. However, her mind seemed to lock in Sofia a bit better than the others, perhaps by nature of Sofia being 'a cutie' in her mind.

As Jason offered his hand to shake, Alloy took out her free hand after finishing another sip of her drink, giving a grin again as she shook the guy's hand and shook it with some strength put into it. She was liking the energy of this guy, and the fact he was willin' to offer her a solid handshake in all of this. Not that she looked down on the others about it, but hell to her it was a generally respectful sign at least. Not an unwelcome thing, though he did ask a question of her.

"Well, sinc ya' asked so nicely, i'm obliged ta' answer. Haha.

This metal skin of mine? It protects me from damage by dispersin' it on impact, heals ma' insides, generally useful stuff in a fight. But this is tired to my other ability, generatin', discharging, and manipulating electricity. The more of this metal skin i got, the stronger this other ability is. And vice versa.

Plus when i do crap with electricity, it eats up this metal skin and makes me look normal again, so i gotta wait for this stuff to grow back to use my ability well. Kinda like a neat trade-off, except that means the more of this metal skin i got the heavier and heavier i get. Haha, and some girls hate putting on the pounds, but in this case its pretty cool, really."

Her local lingo and slang seemed to pull back a bit as she went into explanation, excited to describe her abilities to her new team. At the same time, though, she didn't seem immature about it or like some overly-excited kid who was gonna get themselves killed or such. At the very least there was that much going for her perhaps.

Raymond Haywood: The Cruise Room

Hmph. At least she wasn’t a total rookie, then. Sadly, in explaining her power in such depth, she was making the same rookie mistake he had... though, it occurred to him now, perhaps another member of their group being taken by the PRT at this point would simply lead to their receiving more detail on everybody’s powers anyway. Besides, they potentially knew what his power was, but if they did, what could they do to counter it? Pull in a second Thinker, perhaps, and even then he still had his own combat skills going for him.

‘Thank you, Alloy,’ he murmured, nodding once her explanation was done. ‘That’s quite useful to know... I imagine you’ll be very capable on the front line of a fight.’ A profligate armoured soldier, of course, but equally a very potent electrical conductor, well-suited to stun or, if need be, kill her opponents fairly easily. She'd do well to round out the gap Heartless left in their group. After another moment of thought, he stepped forward and offered his own hand for her to shake. If he was trying to be a leader, then shouldn’t he act like one?

‘For the record,’ he noted, since it happened to be relevant, ‘if you like cute girls, I’m sure you’ll love Whimsy. Just be aware of her age.’ Did he care if they did anything with one another? Not really. He imagined Alloy might have an issue with Sofia being underage, of course, but they were both big enough girls to hunt people down for their abilities and fend off more dangerous villains than themselves, so he wasn’t going to get in their way if something blossomed between them.

Open Attendance for Protectorate and Ward Aligned Heroes Processing the Rockers

@Old Amsterdam@yoshua171@BCTheEntity

A silent frustration fell upon the room as Evelyn laid bare her ultimatum. Protean didn't see why she was so hard pressed on the issue, thought she needed to loosen up and try to understand others better, but of course he didn't want to say anything. He preferred when attention was away from him. Captain Morales held a very similar viewpoint to the young Ward, hardened from hundreds of life or death battles. There was little empathy left in his war-hardened PTSD mind. Still, he felt her outburst and position to be childish and poorly thought out. Sometimes command made decisions you didn't agree with, but raging against the machine only made things worse. Inkscape, he felt everyone was getting ahead of themselves. After all, first they would have to take this proposition to Dexter Quintana's parents, and to Dexter himself, before anything else. The paperwork involved was truly mountainous, not to mention all the red tape and hoops to jump through... The only reason they were even having this discussion was because of a poorly timed eavesdropping, and now an already headache of a situation became an absolute migraine to deal with.

Director Kens though, he wished more than anything for everyone to see eye to eye on the matter. A hard man he was, yes, but nobody could deny his soft spot for kids, and that included troubled teenagers. Truth be told, he understood Evelyn's objections quite well, and he could work with them, but he still wanted her to at least be able to look at things from the other side of the fence. He sat before the room, hands folded in front of his mouth, deep in thought. Finally, his posture relaxed as he let out a deep sigh of resignation. "I understand. Causing friction in the team is the last thing we want in this organization. Assuming everything works out, and Mr. Quintana accepts the terms, we will facilitate his transfer to another location. Inkscape, I would like you to check in with Aurora, see if they are able to take any openings. They specialize in reforming and retired heroes after all. The environment would be... More suitable than here."

Inkscape nodded to show he understood his task. "I believe that is it, then. You are all dismissed. Wards, make sure you get plenty of rest tonight. After all, you have school tomorrow."

A Mysterious Message for the Lone Wolf

@Lugubrious

The Margrave had hoped to have a quiet afternoon, something to wash down the excitement of the earlier mid-morning. The lone warrior of darkness had it, for a time. The simply pleasures in life could be enjoyed, save for the ever growing pressures of the ignorant masses closing in from all sides, yet that was the usual omnipresent situation. Once he had decided to return to the headquarters did the Margrave's peace go interrupted, for at a particular crosswalk did he spot her. A beautiful woman with long, red hair.

The woman looked to be about ten years his senior, somewhere in her mid-twenties, with crimson strands of hair down to her shoulders. She wore a baseball cap with no particular logos or decals, bland as it was, alongside a gray cotton hoodie and blue jeans. She would have been just as unremarkable as the rest of the ignorant fools, the sheep that populated the streets, and Elliott would have had no reason to pay her any mind, except...

"Hello Toy-Man." The woman's words had clearly been meant for him, and her eyes locked onto his for just long enough to confirm this fact. Then she slinked away into a nearby apartment building, four stories tall, completely out of sight. If he chose to pursue her, he would not find her, but that wasn't to say she left no trace, for upon the door was a plain white envelope taped up, with his name written on the front in pink ink and girly writing. The i had been dotted with a little heart, and back was sealed with lipstick. If he chose to open the envelope, he would find a letter typed up in comic sans.

To whichever Protectorate hero I can find first,

Sup? Been a while since I've seen any of you. Has Decoy built any better cells since I broke the last one? Probably, but it wouldn't help. Anyway, I've got some important information for you law and order types. There's a new kingpin of the city's underworld, or at least he fancies himself as such. All the organizations and villains were pulled into a meeting by The Jacks, but I have a feeling it's this new guy pulling the strings. As soon as he wandered in, he completely took over. Claims to be a normal human, but I don't buy it. Parahuman for sure. Thing is, he also claims that he stole one of Epsilon's power dampening devices, and used it to cut off our powers that directly affect other people during the meeting in order to put everyone on equal grounds. He didn't count on my tinker-brain. I know for fact he didn't have any tinker technology on his person, plus I have it on good authority that none of Epsilon's devices have gone missing. I can't tell you his name. Every time I try to type it out, my head feels like it's about to split open. Keep an eye out for him. He's definitely some kind of trump, and I'd bet all the money I made in my last twelve heists that the Jacks are on his payroll. Above all else, be careful. This man terrifies me.

With love,
Sabotage.

Lillian watched on anxiously, very much aware that there wasn't anything she could do to help. She sat there, gently tugging on Alessa's hand when she stood up, avoiding looking at Ev. She couldn't help but connect her current mental state to that thing, especially after that Glow earlier.

She was ashamed to admit she was scared.

And then everything seemed to settle. The incident was over, the discussion ended, they were dismissed.

Lillian looked around a little dumbstruck. She hadn't expected it to end so soon. She leaned into Alessa, releasing breath she hadn't realized she was holding, and quietly whispered, "Meet up tomorrow?" It was a request, and she waited just long enough to get her answer before standing up and approaching the Director.

"I'm sorry for the trouble, sir. I was wandering and I didn't think before getting involved," she said quietly, glancing at Decoy. "I actually needed to talk to Decoy about something and I kinda got lost in thought. Do - Is there somewhere private or a meeting we could make or something, please?" She ended on a stressed note, emphasizing the please in her desperation. Decoy had worked with Ira. He would know what happened to make her leave, wouldn't she? And... Maybe Decoy could tell her she was crazy for her doubts.

Alessa Heather: PRT HQ

Alessa exhaled as, it seemed, the matter was resolved peaceably enough. Thank goodness. The reminder that they had school tomorrow was a bit of a downer, but the fact they’d avoided a fight between one another...

...huh. Why did she still feel as though the situation was still quite... negative? Well, Evelyn had set terms, which had been accepted by Director Kens. But, if she saw fit to be so upset about a matter like this again... who knew what might happen later on? Alessa had been so concerned about making sure Margrave was doing decently, and yet it seemed wherever she turned, she was neglecting the needs of all her-

‘Oh, yeah, of course,’ she nodded, a tad surprised by the sudden question, but reminding herself that she and Lillian were partners now. Romantic partners. Gosh. She honestly hadn’t thought she’d get a boyfriend or a girlfriend any time soon, and yet here she was, agreeing to her second date in as many days of their relationship. And that sparked a thought: was she playing favourites? Hell, she hoped not.

Whilst Lillian made her request of the Director and Decoy, Alessa sidled over to Evelyn before she could take her leave, and quietly uttered ‘Listen, Lyn, uh... I feel like this situation might not have come about if there weren’t some issues with... management, I guess. If there’s anything you want to talk to me about in the future,’ she continued, a touch of concern leaking into her statement, ‘like if there’s anything you think I could be doing better or just any concerns of your own that you have, please do come and talk to me whenever you want, okay?’ She did want things to go as smoothly for the Wards as possible, of course she did. If that meant providing for her allies something that wasn’t being provided already, then why shouldn’t she offer herself as a resource for their use?

Chatterbox
Theme

Intrigued by the newcomer, he let her speak, as well as allowing the others to chime in. Something of a back and forth it was. Amusing, though perhaps not as satisfying what with the lack of his involvement.

No matter.

"Welcome to the team, ah, Alloy." He flashed her a grin, "I'm Chatterbox, but you can call me CB." He walked over to the table and sat down. Briefly he considered her power, "It will be useful to have someone with your talents on the team. I can't wait to put your power to good use, so to speak."

He paused, considering something, then snapped his fingers, "Did the boss inform you of our abilities beforehand?" It was good to know if she needed to updated on the state of things. Of course, he was wondering a host of other things, such as her tactical and strategic ability. Her intelligence. Her tendencies.... Perhaps her phone number. However, those would come in time.
Evelyn Chambers – Tulpa

While she felt some relief at the Director's words, there were other parts of what he was saying that made something in her itch and balk. She kept her mouth shut thought, her eyes darting around occassionally. Deep breaths, slow, quiet breaths. They didn't respond well to her emotions, the fact that this mattered to her. They didn't see it, they didn't really understand. So rather than say anything further to Kens or the other she just nodded and turned to go.

On her way out, however, Alessa got her attention. She stopped, but didn't turn back, onoly moving her head slightly in recognition of her teammate. She wasn't happy with how this had turned out, or started, or went. What more could Alessa offer? She wasn't really in charge, all she did was push the paper for the wards and take point on the field. She couldn't change anyone's mind at the top, she didn't have any clout, any pull...any control.

"Thanks Alessa," she responded. When she turned and looked at the girl there was a weak, but seemingly genuine smile, on her face. It even went to her eyes. Still, there was something almost...defeated about the Evelyn that anyone looking would see.

It only lasted a moment and she didn't even make an attempt to communicate further, instead turning away and walking out. She'd felt so good about today, they'd put bad people away, protected innocent civilian lives. She'd thought it would be two less villains out there where they could hurt people. Instead it was just one...and the other one would go back out—presumably in the guise of a hero. The thought was a twisted one, it perverted everything she'd thought she knew about the PRT, the Protectorate...the Wards.

As she walked down the hall and made her way out of the holding area, she glanced down at her hands.

'Am I the only one who knows the difference?' She wondered.

'Is my view just as warped as theirs...by association?'

A frown crossed her features and she brushed hair from her eyes absently. In doing so she caught a glimpse of a silver 'shadow'. She looked at it, then turned her attention to it through her power. Her projection was...sprawling. A huge net spreading through the walls and floors and anywhere that people weren't.

The realization of the amount of space it was covering, the sheer mass froze her midway up the stairs. She stood there a moment, breathing with slow practiced breaths. She'd forgotten that she was trying to stay calm, but was glad that she'd kept up the practice, glad that she'd had the training and that it had really stuck with her.

Focusing, she made the silver shadow shrink, condensing it and warping it to hide with her. She kind of understood it now, in a way. It was like the others in the meeting room, but it was like her too. It started out pure, but in the world it...it didn't stay that way. It was a more fragile thing than her in its way, its mind decaying the longer it was exposed.

Yet, it was predictable now. Now that she knew that. Now that she understood it.

She started walking again and when she got to the ground floor she gave a few tired waves to the staff before leaving. She didn't want to be around anyone right now. Or well, she didn't want to be around any of them.

To get her mind off things, maybe once she got home, she'd go shopping. Somewhere she could go alone. She'd pick up a music player too, that way it wouldn't just be the quiet of her mind.

That would be nice. Yeah, she'd go buy a new outfit or two.

What a good idea.

Creep
Sheila Hopkins

She had to find two people to provide the vials she had gained to. The only ones she trusted enough were friends from her past. So, Sheila had a few visits to do…

Collab between @BCTheEntity and @PlatinumSkink

During her quest, Sheila heard something troubling about one of those she called friends. While it sounded horrible, it presented her with an opportunity.

Collab between @Old Amsterdam and @PlatinumSkink

The time had come when Sheila had to visit the one she dreaded visiting. The boy who once was her boyfriend, was now one of the few who might lend her his aid.

Collab between @BCTheEntity and @PlatinumSkink

Five days later, it was time to find out what he had decided. The moment of truth, which would decide the course of his life from here on out, was arriving.

Sheila had a vision for how she would lead the Rockers. The following is simply a summarization of the rules, methods and ideals with Sheila imposed upon the team she now leads.

Finally, Sheila had to tell her sister about her actions, about the enemies she was planning to face. However, she may soon realize how ill-prepared she actually was.

A Tarry Talk
A colab between myself and @Gardevoiran

Kendall sat outside of the offices in the PRT. They were instructed to by the official handling all of their paperwork and their mom, as to give them time to discuss some matters that needed sorting out in regards to them being a Ward. Their legs were kicking back and forth in the chair as they waited, occasionally looking down at their hands to observe them changing between the normal state they were in and the amorphous tentacle form they could be.

Silvia was making her way around the PRT building trying to get a better idea of where everything was, she’d only been there two weeks and hadn’t been able to commit the layout to memory yet. While it was hard for her to walk through so many pairs of eyes she knew she’d have to get more used to it if she was going to be a cape, especially a cape with an appearance as distinct as her own. At this point Silvia was close to where Kendall was sitting, but since she had no idea who the girl was she was continuing on her way.

”Hello, Sylph!” Kendall’s voice squeaked as they waved their hand. ”Are you having a bit of a tough time learning your directions around here? It looks like you’re kind of lost…” Kendall had to admit, looking up at the mighty Sylph was scary, especially when she’s about double their height, but it would only be minorly changed if Kendall was… her.

Silvia jumped as she heard her hero name called out, her tail curled up slightly and she looked around for the culprit. And she was a little surprised to see a rather small girl looking up at her, she then quickly looked around and rubbed the back of her head. She must be in the wards section or something. ”I uhhh… Y-yes I am a little lost...” Silvia felt her cheeks heat up from the embarrassment. ”Oh um, you can call me Silvia if you want to. Sylph is my on duty name. What brings you here?”

”I’m becoming a ward! My mom finally gave me permission! She’s just in there, filling out some paperwork.” Kendall giggles as they stand up. ”I mean, I’ve been fighting crime for a while as my alter-ego, but now I get to do it on a team! I’m excited!” Kendall squeals with excitement, bouncing up and down with pure and eager joy.

Silvia smiled down at the girl. ”Congratulations! You seem like you’ve wanted this for some time.” Silvia decided to crouch down a little as to not loom over the girl like a tree. ”I hope you like the teammates you get paired with. Hopefully I’ll be part of a team soon too.” Silvia did like the idea of being in a team, but that also meant being around people a lot. And she really did worry about what people thought of her, so if she got put into a team and the team didn’t like her and they thought she was scary or thought she was dangerous or! Enough Silvia! Stop worrying! Silvia smile went a little awkward as she tried to maintain her composure. If talking to a kid could get her this worked up how the heck could she be part of a team?

”We have… hehe…” Kendall noticed the situation becoming more tense and tense as Silvia became visibly stressed, Kendall finally stepping up and hugging the dragon girl. Unfortunately, her arms couldn’t wrap entirely around Silvia, but she tried to get them as far as they could go around her without their power becoming prevalent. ”I think you have pretty good odds, Silvia.”

Then the arms turned slick as they wrapped all the way around Silvia’s waist, the only part Kendall could easily hug around with how much substance they had in their body.

Silvia was shocked to say the least when the kid clung to her. She’d not actually been hugged before, at least not in the two weeks she could remember. Her tail slowly lowered to the floor and her wings drooped slightly, what an experience. ”I-I-I-uh th-thank, thank you?” Silvia was pretty stunned and formulating a proper sentence was not something she could do at this point. She ignored the strange feeling on her back and gently lowered one of her own arms down and slowly wrapped it behind this girl. What a kind little sou- wait a second, did she say we? Nevermind.

Well maybe Silvia wasn’t as scary looking as she once thought, kids didn’t seem to be afraid of her, if the charity event and this girl here shared the opinion of the majority of other kids. ”I-umm I’m sorry but I’ve not caught your name.”

”Well, you caught one of my names yesterday, but I’m Ke-.” the kid stopped speaking suddenly as they backed up, trying not to speak and risk vomiting all over the offices. The tarry arms of Mastar were clearly evident now as Kendall looked back at Silvia, finally finishing her statement. ”K-Kendall… sorry. The power does that sometimes.”

Silvia was a little shocked when she saw Kendall’s arms were made of… Tar? Wait a minute, Kendall said she caught another one of her names yesterday. No way. This adorable little thing was the cape Mastar! The one who commented on how endowed Silvia and herself were! And this girl had just hugged her around the waist! Or was she going to reach for the butt!? Oh god oh jeez oh man! Silvia quickly stood back up, her left foot tapping on the ground, with a sound that was much more obvious than she liked. ”O-oohoh oh no problem, no problem at all. It wa-was nice to meet you K-kendall. I better get g-going, I wouldn’t want to keep you from becoming a ward and all that. H-have a nice day!” Silvia quickly started walking away looking down at the floor.

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

”Silvia, w-wait…!” Kendall awkwardly stood there, watching Silvia run away in pure unbridled embarrassment. All they could do was hold their hand out in a vain effort to keep Silvia’s attention. ”I’m sorry if I said anything bad…” Disheartened, the kid walked over to their seat and sat back down, looking at the floor and no longer kicking their feet. ”... oh carrotsticks.”

All good things must come to an end, Elliot knew, and that meant returning himself to the den of ridicule and ridiculousness that was the PRT headquarters. The destination looming before him like the onrush of night did not, however, prevent him from savoring the last few morsels of the ordinary world as he passed them by. Elliot took his time on his way back, letting his eyes wander even if he confined his feet to a particular path, and in doing so happened to discover someone that stood out from the crowd.

While waiting for the 'walk' sign at an intersection, he found himself momentarily admiring a pretty ginger and musing on the contrast between her stellar looks and drab garb. He made sure not to glance at her for more than a moment. I'll not give her the wrong idea, lest the creature notice and reap from me my soul to fill her empty void, he thought, snickering at his own joke. However, he could not ignore as she seemed to approach him, growing unusually near to him -especially for a member of the opposite sex- before pronouncing three words that made his hackles rise. The Margrave, for in a flash the anti-hero was on the case, cast the woman a portentous glance that she met with her own even gaze before moving on. A second passed, then two, then three. The stranger veered into an apartment building not far away, her retreat marked by the lone crusader glaring over his shoulder by the stoplight.

“Someone's been paying a bit too much attention for her own good,” he said aloud, not even under his breath. Two of the four other citizens waiting at the crosswalk threw him a bewildered or indignant look, but the young man who seemingly accused them paid them no mind, for he had already leaped into action. The Margrave traced the woman's path, approaching the building into which she vanished moments ago, and upon its doorstep lay a sealed letter. Its embellishment appalled him, since no enigmatic vigilante could be seen clutching an envelop emblazoned with such femininity, but duty called and the Margrave answered. He tore open the letter and crushed its packaging underfoot, his wanton littering a clear rebellion against the establishment, and took in the message's contents whilst leaning against the nearest wall with utterly casual confidence.

A moment later, he'd come to a decision. “Fiendish aberrations lurk in the shadows,” he murmured, making his voice as low and gravelly as conceivably possible. “A demon betrays her kindred, spurred on by still greater darkness to aid the light. It falls to me to bring this intelligence to light.” The crosswalk-signal went white and the citizens began to cross, only to nearly be trampled by the Margrave as he sprinted across the street and made for the Protectorate HQ as though stygian Cerberus itself were nipping at his heels.

Sofia Stien - The Hideout

"Really?" Sofia asked with a sudden surge of interest. "Do you think you could maybe get some for me? Oh I'm Sofia and Whismy by the way." Wait had headhancho just called her cute? She wasn't sure how she was supposed to feel about that. Was she cute? She'd never thought of herself as such. "Am I cute?" Sofia asked herself quietly. Her clothing choices were always rather drab, albeit comfortable, her gray sweats and sweater that she was currently wearing par for the course. The only thing that could really stand out was her face, and that was more so due to the blotched line of skin across her right cheekbone and the short, jagged line of scar tissue on the other: the marks easy to see against her pale skin. Of course her blue eyes drew attention as well but Sofia wouldn't think of that. During all of this thinking Sofia stared at her chocolate milk that she was sipping contemplatively.

Interlude 3: Master Baiter

”FUCK me!” The loud screech was punctuated by a small fist clasping a knife slamming down hard onto a table. The woman, or young teenager rather, seethed in fury. The figure on her computer monitor had really pissed her off, while the two flunky douchebags over by the door flinched. They anticipated she would take her anger out on them, even though they were ostensibly her bodyguards. Not that this particular young teen girl needed bodyguards.

”No tantrums, Samantha,” ordered the figure on the monitor, harsh as a nail scraping a chalkboard. ”You will do this for me, while we work on finding the cretins who killed your sister.”

Samantha rolled her eyes and slumped back against her chair. ”Yes, father,” she replied, rather unconvincingly. ”But I can find them, and force them to suffer! Again, her fist slammed into the table, this time so hard her grip on the knife drew blood.

”And suffer they shall, but not by your hand. This requires my personal attention.” If one could see Patriarch’s eyes beneath his mask, they would be narrowed in vitriol and anger. His words barely held any form of composure, like a rumbling volcano ready to erupt.

”Personal? Don’t tell me you’re going to adopt them into the family, are you, father?” She spat out her words, as disgusted as she would have been eating ants on a stick.

Patriarch shook his head. ”No, my daughter. They don’t deserve such a blessing. Lethal Force needs to be made an example. A very public example. You’ll use your power to discover their identities, and pass it along to your sister Sonika. She and Xolotl will make certain they are brought to face my wrath personally. I have the perfect staging ground set.”

Samantha grumbled, grit her teeth, and bit her lips all at once. ”Fine. I’ll ask my power as many questions as it takes before I find out who they are so Sonika can find them. But if I don’t think they’ve suffered enough, I’ll take it out on the city, father! I already had my fun with these fucktards ruined.”

She seemed to only just notice that she had drawn blood, which had dripped in a few small puddles atop her table. Anger was a hell of a pain desensitizer. The Patriarch gave no mind as her eyes darted to the side, acknowledging her self-inflicted wound. ”So long as you do not harm any family members, I don’t really give a shit. Now, back onto the matter at hand…”

Samantha groaned, in part to relieve the stinging pain in her hand, but mostly out of sheer irritation. ”Do I have to take over Fran’s job? All those logistics make my mind spin. I hate it. Can’t Eyeblight or Sonika do it?” To emphasize her point, she rolled her head around, staring up at the ceiling.

”Yes, you do. Your power grants you access to great amounts of information, as long as you word your questions properly. Sonika may have experience managing businesses like ours, but I need her focus on finding the shitstains that think they can challenge my family. Eyeblight is completely unqualified in both skillset and powers. Do not question me again, or you will be grounded.”

At Patriarch’s threat, Samantha immediately quit spinning her head, and sat up straight. Grounded? No, no, had to avoid that. Anything but that. ”Yes, sir,” came her immediate reply, confident and respectful, laced with a twinge of fear.

”Good girl.” The Community leader grinned beneath his mask, enjoying the power dynamic. He licked his lips a bit, some small part of him hoping she would continue to be defiant. How he loved these punishments. ”Now get to work, or father won’t send you any more toys to play with.”

Samantha nodded with another ”Yes, sir,” and the video feed cut to black. She waited a few seconds, making sure he wasn’t going to call back, then let out a deep sigh of relief. As she slumped back in her chair, that relief ignited more agitation. That agitation grew into the embers of anger, which spread into fury. In less than ten seconds she was back to screaming in her room.

”GOD FFFFFFUCKING SHIT WHORE!” A chair soon became acquainted with the nearby wall. Once more the two bodyguards flinched, only this time there wasn’t anything more important to steal away the young teen’s attention. She rounded on the two, approaching with the body language of someone thrice her size.

How do I make these two cry like little babies? she thought silently to herself. With practically no delay, instructions relayed into her mind. Step one.

”You enjoy seeing me get my comeuppance? Think I deserve to get knocked down a peg by father?” she shot at them, jabbing a finger into one’s gut. ”Maybe you need to be reminded of your own place, hm? You may be my brothers, but I’m the BIG sister here! And you do. What. I. Say!”

They failed to give her any sort of reaction as of yet, like the British royal guard, trained not to give in to impulse and stand firm, unmoving at all times. Of course, she hadn’t yet fulfilled all the steps yet. Step two.

”There’s a reason I’m the favorite, you know. The two of you are little shit stains and you know it. Especially you, Rick!” Suddenly, Samantha zeroed in on the other bodyguard, abandoning the one she had jabbed. ”You’d know about shit stains, wouldn’t you? Most people grow out of that disgusting fuckery after being toddlers! But I guess you’re still a pathetic baby.”

Rick’s stomach turned sour. Nobody was supposed to know about his incontinence. It was a private medical condition he hadn’t shared with anybody, but now here she was flaunting it in his face and there was nothing he could do about it! Step three, final step.

Samantha turned to the side and jabbed her thumb onto an intercom. It was an override button that took over all the speakers in the building, effectively blaring her words to every member of the Community present. ”Hello little siblings. I just wanted to let you all know that Rick makes shit stains on a daily basis, and Jaime likes to eat them straight out of his ass. Thank you.”

She turned to admire her handy work. Rick’s eyes had already begun to turn red. It took but a moment for the tears to well up. In total shock, he soon realized the gravity of what had just happened. Almost delayed, he slumped onto the ground, sobbing. Jaime moved over to comfort Rick, and began to sob in earnest as well, mostly out of empathy. But there was no empathy in the one who had caused this scene.

Samantha Harris gazed upon two fully grown men holding one another on the floor, dripping wet. She had done that, and it was so… Fun. If they hadn’t been her brothers, she would have had even more fun manipulating them into killing each other! Actually, thinking on it… How do I get these two babies at each other’s throats? As before, instructions began to fill her mind. Beautiful and disgusting instructions to turn two loving brothers into hate-fueled murderers. But alas, she couldn’t used it. Not on them… And not on those fucking monkeys, Lethal Force.

In an instant the joy she had worked so hard to achieve melted away, leaving only anger. Yes, anger. Always anger. Fun was fleeting, but this rage… It was eternal, at least in her experience. And that was the only perspective that mattered.

What are the identities of Lethal Force?

Nothing. Of course. This power, while dreadfully entertaining, had clear limits that she forgot about constantly. It was such a pain, having to work around the power instead of being able to get whatever she wanted.

What is the leader of Lethal Force most ashamed of? Ah, fascinating. That would be helpful in finding out who they were.

What is the most effective way to torment the leader of Lethal Force regarding his name? Hm, not too much information there.

What does the leader of Lethal Force consider his worst working relationships in the FBI? Good, good. Sonika had contacts in various levels of government, she could make use of this.

Samantha leaned back in her chair, and closed her eyes. She thought of more and more questions to the sounds of two grown men on the floor, right where they belonged.

The alert came in early in the morning, a few minutes before 6 am. Each of the Wards, the four established members and their newest fifth recruit, received a written message on their Protectorate communicators. Whether or not they were ready for the day was irrelevant, as it beeped and beeped with an alert to force their attention. Once retrieved, the communicator relayed a hologram of a written message, which felt unusual. Decoy normally provided audio messages accompanied by a hologram of his body, meaning something was definitely off.
Warning: Do not speak any of the following out loud. Emergency mission for the Wards, approved by Decoy. Details to follow. Meet at the Little Owl Cafe ASAP in civilian clothing. Tiger Lily will provide crucial details on what could be the most important mission of your whole careers.

And that was it. Most critical mission ever? Sounded important. With a public meeting off the books, civilian clothes, and the rest of the cloak and dagger stuff, this certainly came across as serious, if not also somewhat sketchy. What exactly was going on?

The Little Owl Cafe certainly lived up to its name. While there were a high number of online reviews praising the place, it was certainly… Cozy, one could say. A fairly small hole in the wall location which would endear it to the locals, or tourists wanting to get that “local experience,” the interior decor was nothing too impressive, yet held a charm all its own. A small drink serving station along with cash register stood perpendicular to the back wall along the left hand side when you came in the entrance. Immediately to the right stood a corner V-shaped bar for sitting and drinking, while a single long table sat in the middle of the room, a bookshelf along the right side wall. The back wall was largely left unused, but decorated in a white/gray marble pattern. Altogether a small, quaint little coffee shop.

Denver International Airport. DIA for short. Being a central hub for air travel in the United States allowed it to grow and prosper until it became the largest airport in the entire country, including the longest plane runway. With nonstop service to more than 205 international locations 24/7, nobody could doubt how vital and important a role it has to the United States infrastructure. Near the entrance stands the iconic Blue Mustang statue, or “Blucifer,” as the locals call it. The evil horse which killed its creator before being placed, having fallen on him. A portent of things to come, perhaps. Then again, that is exactly why the Jacks were tasked with maintaining a presence at this most important travel hub.

With reports of a possible class A villain attack, the Broker assigned the team with protecting the airport at all costs. It was not difficult to understand why he would want such a goal accomplished. If he were half the businessman he appeared to be, he would have been highly reliant on the airport’s success. As long as it remained standing, he continued business. As long as he continued business, the Jacks would still be funded. It was a decision based in logic and self-preservation, albeit one which would have drastic positive consequences for the citizenship at large.

What was not so easy to understand was how the Broker knew, fifteen days in advance, that a class A threat would be attacking the airport. He did not appear to have any thinker powers himself, or at least any thinker powers that would help divine the future. It made no sense to risk endangering his own profit margins and stop said risk with his own people. Then again, it was apparent he had many employees outside of the Jacks themselves. Could one of them be a thinker capable of determining the future? Such a power was indeed a tremendous asset, ones the Jacks could make use of themselves. Alas, better to focus on the task at hand.

7:14 a.m. and all was quiet. Well, as quiet as you could be in a constantly jam-packed airport, but still, no signs on the outskirts of any trouble. Not yet, anyway. And the outskirts was indeed where the team of villains currently was, as getting closer could prove to be… Troublesome. Sans Alloy, all were on the city’s most wanted list, something the airport would no doubt have been 100% informed of. Naturally they could leave their costumes behind, but that presented its own problem if and when the threat reared up and they had to take it down. Not to mention Raymond relied on weapons that he had little hope of sneaking past security. What to do indeed?

About 2 weeks prior, IC.

"SHUT UP!"

Gaia punched her pillow and slammed her head directly into it before groaning. She had a killer migraine with the new voices in her head, accompanied well by the broken rib from... fuck... what had even caused that part of her mixed bag of issues right now.

Out of all the people in Denver that have powers, I get stuck with you two.

Oh yeah, that was a new personality in her mind. Good old Limbo, not helping the situation and making it worse.

Hush, you fuck.

Ah yes, Whip's here too, now. Not only did Gaia have to deal with her brother's death, she had to deal with both a borderline-insane personality and an abusive one too, and the fun didn't stop there, oh no. The migraine that was going on was due to their banter being so incredibly fucking loud in her head. It was just fantastic.

Ooh, this kitty has claws. Quite fitting for someone like yourself, considering how you died and all.

Whip stayed dead silent in Gaia's head.

What? Cat got your tongue?

"Say one more motherfucking word Limbo, and I'll get Mantis to beat the shit out of you." Gaia wasn't fucking around. She woke up and knew that Judah had done something to Limbo that sent her like this. Maybe it was his power fucking with her, she didn't know. She just was tired of the bickering.

Please. Tell him to not hold back, while you're at it.

As tempting of a choice as that was, Gaia couldn't. Limbo knew things that were essential to Lethal Force's efforts, as shit as this team was now, and that was essential to the missions now. Plus, the Community needed to fall more than ever. Zach and Whip were one thing, but Dunn...?

It was personal.

"... look, I don't know why the fuck you two are now in my head in place of my brother, and frankly I don't care. What I do know, is that I'm the motherfucking dominant personality here." Gaia stood and walked around her room, clutching her head. "Like it or not, I'm the one in charge of both of you. We're playing by my rules, now." She walked over to the mirror and gazed in it.

"Who are you really, Limbo?" As soon as her name was said, the image in the mirror changed to reflect reality as Limbo appeared there. "W-what?!"

Oooh, pretty girl. Can't say I haven't hooked up with a few of you.

"What's going on he-" She was cut off preemptively from finishing her question.

"Like it or not, Limbo, you're my hostage now. You've been put in the hands of Lethal Force. There's only one way out, now." Gaia smiled as she fell back onto her bed, wincing slightly from the pain in her side due to the broken rib. "I suggest we all become friends, because we'll be getting to know eachother for a looooong time."

Whip stayed silent. Something had changed in Gaia, and it wasn't anything good, that's for damn sure. Whether she had fallen to the insanity of multiple personalities or she grew more sadistic with Dunn gone was unclear, but it could easily be seen that, just like a lot of men, he was holding her back from her true desires.

"How about we start off with names? Limbo, why don't you go first?"

... as if I'd tell you.

"Ok." Gaia climbed into a more comfortable position. "It's cool. You'll spill it eventually." All Gaia needed to do at that point was wait for the truth to reveal itself. "Welcome to Lethal Force, Limbo."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Present...
@Spiffy
Gaia was sleeping away in the morning, waiting for Judah to come and check on her. Last night was a doozy for her personalities, and she really needed those sleeping pills to help her nod off. It was the only solace she got at that point. She just wanted Judah to make sure she was okay when he woke up, because if they died, then hoo boy he would not feel right for a whiiile
The Wards
Holy Kale, an Important Mission Already?!
Kendall saw the message blip up on their communicator, and got a little bit giddy when they read it in full detail. It was already their first critical mission, and they'd hardly been there for a week! Man, this was so much better than being a vigilante hero. Kendall actually had work that they could do for once! Huzzah!
After running to the bathroom to vomit up a bit of tar, as per their usual morning, Kenall quickly threw on their clothes and grabbed their bag and coat, throwing everything on before setting out from their room. There wasn't much that was going on in there, save the small freezer that Kendall requested being absolutely filled with bags of dormant tar, in case Kendall needed to rebuild her arm in a pinch. Oh, and the half-full bottle of root beer. Gosh, that stuff was good.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kendall seemed to be the second of the Wards to show up, and entered the coffee shop without so much as waiting. They'd been here a few times before as a real customer, always getting a hot tea to-go as the kid made their way to school in the mornings, if they had the money. Of course, they normally showed up a bit earlier, and since they switched schools this could very well be one of the last times they did this. Might as well get something, since this could be the last time they could get a drink, and they did have the money today.

The coffee man smiled at Kendall. "Hey-o! Lemme guess, the regular?"

"Yes please!"

The coffee man nodded before getting to work. It was pretty early for Kendall to be there, the shop had a few customers but nothing too extensive at that time. Nobody was up for work yet, aside from Kendall, the coffee man, and Lillian, who had been there already. Kendall didn't know for how long she'd been there, but it was whatever.

The coffee man handed Kendall their drink, and let the kid pay for it before snapping a finger and getting back to waiting for another customer. Kendall took the opportunity to go and sit down across from Lillian. They took a sip of their green tea before speaking, a wide smile on their face. "Lovely weather, isn't it?"
