Sofia Stien - The Airport

"Is the magic green man the bad guy?" Sofia asked cautiously. Bad guy was very much a relative term the Jack's track record, but it was pretty understandable in this instance, or at least Sofia thought so anyway. "Is he the one doing the thing?" She followed up, this time a bit more accusingly, accompanied by a condemning finger point. She wasn't sure entirely what was going on, but she was sure that she didn't like it. It was impossible to tell what was going on and lots of random people seemed to be getting hurt and they were probably in some sort of danger. Sofia did notice that people seemed to be less panicky than they were before but it wasn't really at the forefront of her mind.

Alessa Heather: PRT HQ

Honestly, even if it was feigned, it was nice to see Elliot so on-board with the idea of going on a hike. Honestly, it was nice to see everybody getting in on it, especially Evelyn coming up with the notion of playing hooky to do it and Kendall charging off to run some errands first. Certainly better than the grim tension that came with what had preceded the issue.

And then came the order to close the trap. It was just a matter of chattering to the others about how glad she was that everybody was as keen about the notion of going out as her, at least until Evelyn’s job was done, indicated by a slight twisting of her smile, and another text confirming Alessa’s suspicions.

And now for Alessa to do her part as team leader. Tilting her head to indicate for everyone present to follow, she began to walk on toward Collin’s room with a smile, Lillian preceding her just slightly. Jogging a touch in order to catch up, she took her partner’s hand, squeezing it gently so as to ensure she remained in touch, right up until they reached the door to Collin’s room. Only then did she let go of Lily’s hand, to open the door and make her entrance.

‘Collin?’ Alessa asked as she moved into the room, looking around to try and spot what exactly was restraining him. She didn’t see much, but... well, the null field was definitely active, she couldn’t feel her power functioning at all, so she imagined all was well. But, on to business. ‘Sonar, I’m sorry I have to say this, but you’re being taken into custody for colluding with and feeding information to a major villainous organisation, and thus compromising the PRT and Protectorate alike.’ Disappointment was ripe in her voice, and in a way, she rather hoped that guilt plagued Collin, too. It was... well, it was sad that things had come to this, she as the Wards’ leader confronting their former leader. Then again, of the Wards present during Collin’s original leadership...

Best not to think about that right now.

Raymond Haywood: The Airport

It looked like the rest of the team had caught up with the target in question. Which was good, because Raymond was starting to get very frustrated.

Aim for head, induce unconsciousness, avoid causing permanent-

Dammit! He’d realised by now that his power was, essentially, flickering on and off at random, and never staying active for long enough that he realised, got a good bead on the target, and managed to pull off a shot. It was a tiny thing that, combined with the target phasing in and out, prevented him from taking a decent shot, and since they’d figured out who was probably the cause... he felt rather like he would do better wandering around, seeking more information. Perhaps a hint of how the target’s powers worked, or maybe he’d find some other parahumans assisting him. Oh, if there was a Trump here expanding the radius of his ability somehow...

‘My power’s on the fritz,’ he informed the rest of the team with a low growl. ‘I’m going to try and figure out why.’ Confident they’d be able to handle it, he reholstered his weapon, and began to climb down from his position, with the goal of seeking out some hint of what might be screwing with him and everybody else.

Outsider

Glad the pilot had—presumably—gotten the hint, Outsider lay the helicopter gently on the roof, before extricating his various limbs from it and giving it some space. Deftly he used a smaller tendril to open the door. Since the propellers were slowing down there was monumentally less noise. This allowed him to more effectively communicate with those within, "The area you were flying over is effectively a no fly zone. It's too hazardous at the moment. You can fly to a proper helipad if you feel that is best, but do not fly over that zone," he gestured with several tentacles, motioning to where they'd been. Hopefully they listened...if not, well, it would be problematic.

Rising from the roof, Outsider began to head back towards where he could detect Sylph. All the while he kept his senses aware of his surroundings and the goings on therein.

The Wards

Going Soft

Kendall frowned for a moment before smiling again. It was go time for the mission. They finished their "camping bag" before looking down at their communicator and detailing everything going on. They left their new costume in the closet, as well, in case any onlookers thought there was something else going on in the grand scheme. Could never be too careful about Community Moles, especially with this new discovery being made in the PRT.

Kendall slung their bag over their back before racing down the hall, trying to remember where Sonar was spending his time in the PRT since they had joined. Did they ever actually find out where Sonar was? Kendall knew he was in the Ward Hub somewhere, just not sure where he was specifically. Though, Kendall didn't have to worry for long, as they caught up with Alessa and the others quickly, being able to walk beside them for the rest of the way to Sonar's door.

Once there, Kendall rolled up their sleeves and crouched beside the door. Sonar's room was behind them, and they were ready to get the Community Mole of a Ward out of the PRT.

"Sorry, Collin..." Kendall thought as their hair turned into the familiar brownish-black of their tar.

As the small piece of metal scratches the back of Lamprey Abaddon's eyes light up as if a small fire were lit inside her, knowing the fire would only grow stronger as the fight continued. She continued hovering upward as Lamprey dashed and jumped at her, Lamprey's hand missed the boot by mere inches and she fell to the ground while Abaddon continued to rise.

"What are you going to do now short stuff?" She calls, continuing to float up, hoping to be able to help the mysterious person on the roof who seems to be helping her.

Creep
Sheila Hopkins

Outside Rockers HQ

Sheila bit together as she saw her grunts hit by arrows, of all things. She attempted to scan out where the arrows had come from as she wrote another message. She sent the coded equivalent of ‘front door is watched’, because there’d be such a code. She’d then attempt calling her fellow capes.

@BCTheEntity@solokolos@LemonZest1337

‘The opponents have an archer, it seems, the place is watched. Don’t advance on your own. It may be a lost battle, but there are Rockers unaccounted for inside.’ … And because of Patriarch, anyone captured was considered gone and untrustworthy forever, which should be avoided at all costs.
‘Regroup at spot B, I’ll try to contact our allies.’ So she told, whispering, highly conscious of every sound she made even when invisible. Of course, if they had suggestions or reasons to claim she’s an idiot, now’d be the time.

@Old Amsterdam

Next course of action. Call the Broker, or any other individual whose number she’d collected during the alliance, be that her number to Thunderbolt if all else failed.
‘This is Creep. The Rockers HQ is under attack, at least two parahumans and probably more I don’t know of yet. We’ll see what we can do, but help would be appreciated.’ … If she reached someone to talk to, that is.

While calling, she made her way to see if her other grunts were escaping safely, or if she needed to help. If not, she’d head for Spot B, which’d be a nearby apartment on the first floor with a missing tenant. Because moving at their enemy’s pace wasn’t optimal.

Oh, yeah. She just left that civilian looking for work inside her HQ under attack. … Eh, hopefully they have the good sense to take cover.

Mina Kreiger (Alloy)

All of this scene before her....looked like a big computer glitching out in front of her. Like one of those indie video games trying to be fancy as hell or something even. The one thing that stood out among the shifting scenery, like different worlds were mixing together or something right out of fiction, was this metal and green clad individual that seemed to be walking onwards like nothing was wrong. he stood out like a sore thumb, much like herself if she hadn't kept just her face from being metal coated to come here. But if this all seemed similar to a computer....aha!

Alloy grinned to herself as an idea came to her mind. It was a nice little trick she'd picked up from a homeless electrician guy, who'd seen this happen....but a blast to overload the electronics with a burst of electricity could do something. Not that this guy was using tech, but by knocking out some power in this area maybe'd she get a better idea if this was some freaky world-hopping (meaning power in other blips might be fine then) or this was some illusion shit (in which case power would probably remain out for a bit).

Mina uncovered her left arm, shining and metal, as if to check a watch, but instead was directing electricity into it as she kept a visual eye on the target.

"Alloy calling in, if this guy is flipping us through alternate universes, or pulling some illusion crap, i think this might expose it. Keep an eye on the power in this area, over."

With that, Alloy waited for the next moment the being blipped into her view, and quickly stuck out her arm in his direction and acted without hesitation.

Took the metal skin of hers to make it possible, but as Alloy discharged her power she released a wave of electricity in the green-coated man's direction. It was enough electricity to try do what Alloy was intending to do, at least, by overload electronics in her path and knock em' out...or maybe send them on the fritz. usually the former thing had been consistent in the usage of her powers, the latter happening maybe once or twice that she could recall.

Time to roll the dice, she supposed. And at least the other team members were here to boot.

@Old Amsterdam@yoshua171@BCTheEntity@ProPro

Allison Mead (Excaliblast)

At the hail of gunfire, Allison quickly cobbled together a basic wall of blades to hide behind. Though crouched behind this wall, she was lightly gritting her teeth as she listened to the voice coming over the PA system. That voice was so...ultimately irritating that she wished she could clock it right in the mouth. Though whilst irritating, it gave her more drive to do what she had come out here to do. Protect her classmates, at least the ones she could, and try to stall until the Protectorate or other help arrived. But she felt she was getting the idea of what this person was trying to do to her...heh, not like she and others around her hadn't had some of this treatment before.

This person wanted to get her mad, eh? Spout anything over that intercom to get her nerves, drive her crazy, poke at her mind for weak points. Claim the Dean was bribed merely to keep her on campus, claim her professor only pitied her and got her by via that rather than her actual grades, and even claim her family had bribed the Dean just to keep her in college somehow. Heh, it wasn't like maybe some of that could be true, hell she'd already suspected the football team on deflating balls, but...

"Trying to get off by getting under my skin? Wow, you either haven't seen my grades yet, or guys must have some shitty sex lives!" Allison called out, after having popped up to fire some blades at the gunmen and hiding once more. That much from 'the incident' that one day she felt was useful at least...not that it made her feel better about Mantis, but as she spoke now an amused grin was on her face to channel her emotions, "I earned my place here, and while i am not the best i sure as hell ain't some STD-swallowing bitch of The Community! Does you big, strong, fat fuck of a daddy make you bend forward when he needs a little succ, hmm?"

Allison then carefully popped up again, blasting more blades at the gunmen again before coming back behind the barrier. She wasn't going to pop out with any consistent timing, hell that'd make her a perfect shooting target from those old carnival games. But...hell, she had to make it to the offices where the PA system was if she wanted to shut this asshole talking over it up. Albeit, she was finding this a bit more fun than she had intended....albeit that didn't make it feel any better. It was doing wonders for her venting, though.

Hitching a ride on Thunderbolt with Whimsy, he considered their options as they passed through obstacles in their path on their way to the concourse that the green figure had been spotted. His thralls reported the strange flickering, glitch-like behavior of the individual. Those empowered and brainiacs apparently could give him little due to the unreliable nature of his power in the moment. That said, there were really only two options in regards to the cape's trajectory so it quickly became apparent—by extrapolating from the flickers—which direction they were moving.

"Organize a human wall to block his travel in one direction, we'll test a theory while Alloy tests hers," he said, his voice fluctuating with the movement of Thunderbolt.

Things were playing out on Alloy's end as they arrived. Similarly, Headhunter gave them an update.

"Dammit," he muttered...as Hunter's ability was typically one of the strongest in their arsenal. Now, deprived of it, they'd have to find another way to deal with their adversary.

An idea struck him. He activated his comms, switching over to his thrall network.

"Empowered in Concourse B, I need a loud, steady noise. Power dialed up to max." He might be flickering in and out, but if he existed in their reality—provided Alloy's theory was accurate—well...he could be affected by his power, even if only fleetingly. Each moment of exposure, especially with so many instances of his power in action, would only amplify the effect.

He used tap code to guide other empowered into their area, leaving a few with each pacified group of civilians. Of course, now that he had them under his control, he began an attempt to evacuate them. Since the tram wasn't an option, the inactive airfield and otherwise space around the airport would have to do. Ostensibly it was the security guards who were in control of the situation. He made sure that there was still some hysterics and unease among the civilians, so that nothing might appear terribly amiss.

Though it was likely that the nature of his power would come to light after this incident, he felt there was no reason for him to make that light brighter...or negative, for that matter. The less harm he did with his power, the better, especially given the purpose of their mission here.

Getting off of Thunderbolt, and bidding Whimsy do so as well, he offered her his hand—gently brushing it against hers since her eyes were closed—intending the both of them stay safely unaffected by any combat that might take place. From that point, well...it was a matter of waiting and watching for the results of their experiments.

After playing his part, the Margrave awaited a sign from Alessa with baited breath. Would this gambit pay off, or would everything go to hell? He studied his peer's face intently, poised as if to spring -whatever that might accomplish- the second any news came through. When a revelation did make itself known, it manifested in a mere subtle movement, and the irrepressibly clever and astute warrior of darkness understood immediately. In determined, perhaps gleeful silence he followed with the others as they made their way to the traitor's abode.

He almost stepped into the room before remembering that the nullifier would be active, and likely crush him beneath the weight of his toys as they sprang to full size should he waltz right in. The others proceeded as he hung back a moment, removed his jacket, and emptied his pockets. No cars today, but his restored items made quite the obstructive pile. He moved as hastily as he could without doing any damage, wanting to make sure he didn't miss anything, and darted into Collin's room a few seconds after Alessa issued her statement. Rather than play by the rules, the enigmatic vagabond sashayed right over to the 'comatose' pretender and planted a finger on his chest. “You FOOL,” he uttered in the deepest, most guttural voice he could muster. “You sucker, you stooge, you absolute BOOB. Did you truly think that you could fall to darkness and hide its pungent, festering pong forever? No, I smell you thoroughly, you illiterate schlemeil. And I smell a rat! And like a rat, you've been caught! Get DUNKED ON, DUMBO!”

Untold fathoms of power flowed through the Margrave as he punctuated his pronouncement with a dab of monolithic proportions.

"What the hell?!" Collin yelped as Tulpa's manifestation suddenly appeared in his room, in his safe haven. The wispy, ethereal being darted for him, to which he expertly ducked out of the way and rolled to the side. Young as he was, there was still a reason he had been chosen as the Ward's leader. His experience was unmatched by his peers. "It's a trap! They kn-Ah shit!" he cursed, realizing his voice was no longer projecting away from his own body. Realizing he wasn't hearing anything. Again the tulpa attacked, rerouting its trajectory to capture him. Once again Collin avoided it, kicking off the wall and landing near the door. His hand swiftly took hold of the knob, twisted, and pushed. Hard. The door refused to budge any, locked in place.

"Decoy!" he cried out, now feeling the cold embrace of his former partner's minion enveloping all around him. Just as Tulpa commanded, it had restrained him but good, solidifying and preventing all but the most essential movement necessary for survival. He could see around him, he could breathe, but that was all.

The Wards rushed the area soon as they could. The sight that greeted them could only be described as pitiful. Collin stood directly in front of the door, clearly in an attempt to escape, but unable to break through the lock before his capture. Alessa was the first to speak to him, doing so only to announce his capture. While her tone could be described as soft and kind, the content was all business. Collin burned at the notion, his eyes reflecting only resentment in his eyes. She thinks she can do this to me? This pretender? This replacement? Talk down to me?

Kendall spoke next, only two words escaping their mouth. A simple sorry. Collin paid it no mind, not even bothering to move his eyes to fixate on them. He had no relationship with Kendall. He had, however a relationship with Elliott, the next to address him. The part timer. The loner, the brooding, angsty nerd who couldn't fit in with all his theatrics and stone walls. Back when Elliott first joined, Collin remembered trying to reach out to Elliott so many times. He felt as though he had made more progress than anybody else in befriending the ever-solitary eccentric, but one slip up, one wrong detail uttered in conversation, the use of information that Collin wouldn't have known without his power, and most of that trust went out the window. Now here Elliott was, prancing about like a court jester, daring to sling names at him. How dare he?! So easily turn on the only one of the Wards to actually reach out and try to connect? Honestly... It hurt. It hurt, and it showed. Collin's eyes drooped down, as he couldn't look Elliott in the face. He may have been feeding information to the Community, a massive betrayal in itself, but this felt... Personal. Alessa and Elliott were his friends.

"No time to waste interrogating Collin," came the harried accent-heavy voice of Decoy through a nearby intercom. A holographic projector manifested the usual overweight Japanese man that the hero communicated through. "We're getting a massive influx of reports that the Community has started wreaking havoc across the city! They're attacking rival gangs, city heroes, even a university and causing mass panic in the streets. An emergency bulletin has been placed for all Protectorate heroes and PRT troopers to engage immediately." The teens could see the projection waggling its fingers with incredible speed, as though typing on a keyboard. It was clear that Decoy was not paying them any attention, but instead monitoring a high number of screens, processing an enormous amount of data at once.

"Knock him out, or use some other method of restraint on Collin-kun. Full deployment means I can't spare any troops to engage with the second mole, the one Collin has been feeding information to. It also means that he could get away. I am sorry to say this, but the second mole is none other than one of your senior Protectorate heroes, Protean. He's already deactivated all of the equipment I gave him so I can no longer trace his position, but I'm following him on camera. Presently Protean is on the third floor and heading down the stairs. Engage with extreme caution, Wards. He's personally trained you all and knows what you can do. In terms of threat level, the PRT has labeled Protean a Brute/Changer 7. Go, there is no time to waste!"

Headhunter sought out a better position from which to gather more information, but events with his comrades transpired very quickly. As he descended the outside maintenance ladder, he found himself coming more level with the concourse his allies and enemy were situated in. From here he could witness the entirety of the events that were unfolding...

The green clad figure stopped a moment as he took notice of a sudden increase in foot traffic near him. Civilians were not behaving as expected. A very peculiar development indeed. They stayed nearby, chatting away incessantly about any old thing he didn't care to listen to, but stayed just barely enough away that he wasn't getting crowded. Still, more were coming by the second and hanging around his particular area, moving with him. A most distrustful situation indeed.

Then a flash of sparking energy, a current of electricity arcing through the air struck the green hooded man and he doubled over in pain. A deep, machine-filtered cry of pain emanated about, drawing more attention to him. "AAAAAAARGGGHH!" The surge of energy was over as quickly as it began, and the figure, small tendrils of black smoke now streaming off from his body, turned on heel to lock eyes with Alloy. "A hero. You should have aimed for the head."

The man flung his arm out, revealing all manner of gadgets and machine pieces hidden beneath his cloak. It was apparent that Alloy had fried a good number of them with that current, but it was equally apparent he had many more to fall back on. He grabbed a high-tech blaster looking gun from his belt and held it toward Alloy. That's when he noticed Thunderbolt, Whimsy, and Chatterbox nearby. He cocked his head. "Ah, a miscalculation on my part. I recognize the three of you from that night. Villains, then, and with a new recruit. Which means..." He gave pause just long enough to press a button on the palm of his left hand. In an instant he became translucent, like a ghost. "Your sniper should be around somewhere."

He lowered his gun, chuckling softly to himself. "I must admit, I planned on fleeing this dimension in a few moments. I've had my fun and things were getting very boring. The same old predictable this and that. Very droll. But this is a fascinating development. I need no fancy name or title to carry my clout. Such things are beneath me. If you all wish to serve Dr. Dean, then I shall allow it. Otherwise, leave or die. These are your options."

He spoke with an air of certainty, as though what he said were not words but the decree of the world itself. He carried himself like a king, expecting every uttered word to be law. Meanwhile, Headhunter noticed something very crucial. Every since Alloy had struck their enemy with her electricity, the environment changed once again, only this time it stayed. He could see the carnage that had been caused in the attack, the people running about, panicking or controlled by Chatterbox, and everything else. It was all static. It had seemed that whatever was causing the constant shift in the environment had been fried, but he was the only one with the right perspective to be able to tell that.

Barry looked on in horror as the walls around began to fall apart. Arrows littered the floor next to the receptionists. It was almost like his trigger event all over again.

Then in response to his dismay, Swarm reemerged. A force field surrounded himself and his ally, Firefly. Any debris, arrows or other inorganic substances would crash against a powerful wall if they entered within 5 feet of him.

Swarm began to assess the area for any enemies. To find the perpetrators of this attack against the Rockers. Apparently they were a target as well. Though this time he was not planning on taking over by force.

This guy reminded Sofia of Chatterhead. He talked a lot and seemed very confident. Despite that, the blast from Alloy seemed to have caught him by surprise so he obviously wasn't as infallible as he acted. "I don't think he's a real doctor." Sofia said quietly as she clambered down from Thunderbird, holding onto Chatterhead's hand tightly. Everyone else could protect themselves to some degree so it made sense that she made sure he was able to keep talking.

Alessa Heather: PRT HQ

Oh. His expression was painful to see. Certainly, he had been a friend... but, sadly, betrayal tended to ruin friendships soundly. That said, Elliot’s taunting of the boy was a bit much, especially the arm gesture, and Alessa glanced over quizzically, gently nudging him with her elbow as if to say “cut it out”.

Then came the word from Decoy. The Community was attacking the city en masse, in forces great enough to completely take over the Protectorate's entire attention - an unsettling- nay, terrifying thought, one that had Alessa’s eyes widening before she realised her fear was showing through. And though she would have protested at the idea of knocking Collin out, for all sorts of medical reasons, not least that he’d been knocked unconscious once before, worse yet was who they had to defeat to clear the PRT wholly of moles.

Protean. Their trainer. And as Decoy reminded them that he was the trainer for every Ward, the old adage ran through her mind: “I taught you everything you know, but I didn’t teach you everything I know”.

Plus, he was freaking powerful. At least physically. She imagined defeating him would be an all-or-nothing affair.

‘Do it, Lyn,’ she ordered, firmly but not harshly, and only after a moment of frenzied hesitation. ‘We don’t have time to waste. Once he’s handled, everyone follow me.’ Her last statement to Collin was a barely-audible ‘I’m sorry’, complete with regret plastering her face, regret that things had to be this way and for agreeing that he had to be knocked out cold once again; after that, she spun on her heel and began to power walk away from the scene, halfway to a run. They needed a plan, and they needed it very quickly indeed.

The Wards

Confrontation

Kendall watched the interaction with Collin go on as they felt their tarry hair turn back into it's normal pinkish color. This wasn't an easy thing to watch, even if Kendall never knew Collin personally. It almost felt like a bit too rough of a thing to do to him right now. At one point, he certainly was still a hero. Someone who Kendall did look up to at one point. This felt wrong, but there certainly was no other choice for the matter, huh. He needed to pay for his crimes against the Protectorate.

Then, Decoy chimed in, and the situation got a lot more tense. Protean, the 'hero' who trained all the other Wards turned out to be a villain involved with the Community too. Who would've guessed? Still, he was another person that Kendall had minimal interaction with outside of basic training and admiration. This... wasn't shaping up to be the day that they thought it would be. And she was so excited for that hike, if it turned out to be a real thing.

Forget about the hike, Kendall. You've got bigger fish to fry. The Community was attacking en masse, and if the Wards could take down at least one lieutenant of the gang, it would be a great thing indeed. Without a moment of hesitation after Alessa spoke, Kendall's figure turned black into amorphous tar and reshaped into a taller and more slender version of Kendall, a mask forming around their face as well. The oversized hoodie Kendall had on was now fitting their form a lot better, and everything about Kendall shifted into a more... monstrous... manner.

"I'm ready to engage the shapeshifter when you guys are."

A wonderful strike by Alloy, he mused, grinning as he and Whimsy got off Thunderbolt's back. She stayed with him, wonderful. He tapped the communicator at his waist, using tapcode to direct and redirect the flow of his many...many thralls. The empowered kept up their steady noise such that while they could hear 'Dr. Dean,' he hardly had a proper stage or audience listening to him.

Frankly, he didn't care what the man had to say. He was the worst kind of criminal, really, no real purpose, just trifling in the lives of others for the sake of his own amusement.

What a terrible man.

"Whimsy," he began, smiling to himself somewhat, "Can you phase out the floor beneath Dr. Dean?" He said it through comms, quiet enough under the cacaphony of his thralls that the 'Good Doctor' couldn't hear him. "If you can, do so. I want to see how your power interacts with his tech...and the environment. After all, he is still standing on the same floor as us...presumably."

He chuckled to himself, how amusing would it be to sweep the man's stage right out from under him? Phenomenally amusing, he thought.

Speaking of phenomenal thoughts, he reached for his gun in its holster at his hip and wrapped fingers around it. Ready to fire.

If Whimsy's power allowed them to interact with the Doctor...then they'd need to get her to Headhunter's location. It also meant that he might have a chance to capture or detain the man himself. Either would be wonderful, hopefully it was possible.

He supposed they'd find out soon enough. That considered, he waited, his thralls continuing to attempt to impede the man's escape by blocking off exits with chairs or other things on hand even as they used their own bodies to do so. He would not have their target escape. Not if he could help it.

Evelyn Chambers – Tulpa

While the others spoke to, and in Elliot's case, unloaded on Colin, Evelyn simply stood, barely able to look at him. She stood at the back of the group and if anyone had seen her face, well...they would have seen an expression of abject disgust and pity. It only lasted a fairly brief time as she composed herself and then—once everyone had said their piece—she commanded her projection to knock the betrayer out. Swiftly, without any prelude or build up, the projection invisibly drew back a limb it had formed from air...soldified it, and struck the betrayer hard enough in the head to knock him out. It would bruise badly.

Immediately afterwards, the projection vanished, the only evidence it had done so the fact that its glowing eyes winked out. Immediately, Evelyn drew in a breath and focused, the projection's shadow sweeping over them...and then expanding throughout the building, getting a thorough scan of Decoy and Protean. That done, she sent it outwards in a spiralling formation, starting at the perimeter of the building and going outwards, gathering material information at a rapid pace. Due to it being inimpeded by most physical laws it only took several seconds for it to gather enough information to satisfy her.

She was already counting down the minutes till she could manifest it again. Following the others, she activated her comms, "I'm going to stay out of sight. I don't want him to target me to try and deal with my projection. I'll be formulating my projection for the fight up until we get to him." She then ended communication, but kept an ear out for further information while she turned the rest of her focus to creating her next weapon.

First she took stock of all the powers at her disposal.

A small smile touched her lips, even though there was only a steel cold focus in her eyes.

She had more than enough to work with.

Lillian closed her eyes, her jaw clenched, and her fingers curling into fists as she focused on her breathing. She only stopped when Colin was unconscious. Stepping forward, she unhooked his game console from the plug, pulling out the power cord, and proceeded to pull his hands behind his back. Pulling out one of the PRT handcuffs, she cuffed him and then tied his feet together, winding the cord around the chain of the cuffs while she was at it. It wouldn't pull, but it would ensure that he wasn't going to be getting up and making problems if he awoke before someone got to him.

And who knew how long that could take? With the entire department busy? She could barely believe that they had to deal with Protean. Her heart hurt at the thought before she took a deep breath.

"We need to get him outside. I can't do anything inside except get in the way. We know he'll beat us in hand to hand. Outside I can go Mega. Or at least in the training room. We can do this.... Together." Her voice was small, quiet but audible, as she swallowed and stepped forward. "He might've taught us a lot, but he didn't teach us everything we know."

After a moment of hesitation, she stepped out of the room.

Jason

Jason, as soon as Sofia and CB were clear, took off at a sprint towards the villain. With a light push off his power he vaulted over the would be rambler, spinning around upon landing to lash out with his fist.

Mina Kreiger (Alloy)

It was an interesting ramble this "Doctor Dean" seemed to be going through, and his familiarity with the Jacks left Alloy with some questions of her own about what was....and had been...going on around here before she had come into the picture. But he had a tech-y pistol, and a button on his glove, and honestly it screamed "Tinker" to Alloy entirely. That was a term she'd heard float round, cape lingo that had leaked into the local populace she assumed. Or at least into certain areas she had been in before joining this group, via some means. Regardless she seemed to have done something to to this "Dr. Dean", at least, but just what had she managed to do was up to whomever could see what was going on she supposed.

Just before the rambling guy would perhaps finish his words, she let loose a harsher wave of electricity towards his head and body...similar as before but with some more precise aim now since he was choosing to blather on in the fact of enemies. She hadn't put her arm back down since firing off the first time, after all. The metal he wore wouldn't help him, either, in any attempts to dodge..that much she understood about electricity and metal in general at least. If she hit him at all, maybe she'd fry his brains this time, or at least short out his tendency to ramble rather than act then? It was...annoying, to say the very least, and she wanted to act before he maybe did something worse in the meantime.

Raymond Haywood: The Airport

Hmm. Definitely a Tinker, then. And if he wasn’t mistaken, Alloy’s electrical blast had shorted not just the green-robed villain’s gadgets, but also whatever was causing the airport’s phasing issues to begin with in their entirety.

Unfortunately, he managed to phase out before Raymond could get a clear bead on him. Fortunately, Headhunter’s power was otherwise back to normal functionality, at least within this area. Contacting the others briefly, as Chatterbox spoke to Whimsy and Thunderbolt tried to attack the man, he rapidly uttered ‘He’s a Tinker. If you can make him phase back into reality, I can knock him out. Either trick him, force him, disable the unit phasing him out, or keep shocking him.’

And shock Alloy did. Meanwhile, Headhunter shifted his weapon to its M16A4 form, and took aim at the dimension-shifting Tinker without immediately scoping in. He’d find his moment to fire, though from his current distance, he wasn’t perfectly sure he’d be able to make the shot. He’d have to wait and see.

The Community Strikes Back

@PlatinumSkink@Spiffy@BCTheEntity@solokolos@Lemonzest1337
Chapter Two: The Rockers
As Creep called Broker, the phone was promptly picked up. As she began to request help, however, she was promptly over talked as the man explained that the Community was attacking everybody and they had their own problems to deal with.

The call to her allies connected to everyone, at least. Though not everyone gave any indication of agreement.

Inside, the building was threatening to collapse as it took more damage from something further in. Most everyone had evacuated at this point, though Swarm and his ally had apparently elected to stay and fight. Several arrows shot out through the wall at the two, stopped by Swarm's influence.

(Open invitation to Independents to get involved)
Chapter Three: The City
As Sylph declared her challenge, looking towards the thud she had heard, a grisly sight met her eyes. A young girl, maybe 10 years in age, lay in a crumpled heap. Surrounded by blood, her limbs in awkward angles, bones protruding from flesh. It was a terrible sight, made all the worse by the knowledge that the girl must've seized when she looked out the window to see what was going on below.

Would Sylph blame herself for not preventing the girl's death? There was no guarantee that the child had died on impact.

However, their was no reply from Eyeblight. Where was he?

From above, Outsider could see the villain was off to the side, across the electrical lines going towards a cafe. In a moment the villain entered the building...

As Metanoia prepared herself, Celia glanced at the chunk of shield she held in her hands. As Abaddon began to rise into view, she flicked the bone plate at the cape before charging in closer to Meta to engage. She struck out with a snap jab towards Meta's chest, her other arm flicking out to grab the changer’s left sword.

Down below, Lamprey pulled out a handgun, before firing a clip up at Abaddon.

@Crusader Lord
Chapter Four: The Girl
At Allison's words, the PA system went quiet. Deathly quiet.

More gunfire erupted at her, and she could hear a small sound as it cut off abruptly. Was something bouncing along the floor closer to her?

Wards: Protean, the Protectorate's Strongest

@Old Amsterdam@yoshua171@Gardevoiran@BCTheEntity@Lugubrious

As Messiah gave the order, Collin's eyes reacted in a quick change of indignant rage, to resigned sadness. Tulpa's projection took him out just as planned, and from there Tiger Lily went to work binding him in the words of his own game systems to ensure that he couldn't get away if he woke up early. Once the former Ward came to no doubt he would be in a rather desperate situation. Still, they couldn't worry about that right now. Protean was their new target, one of the senior Protectorate heroes and physically by far the most impressive. It was commonly accepted knowledge around the HQ that only Inkscape could take him in a fight, and only on one of Ink's good days. The man could unleash any combination of animal traits leading to an unpredictable foe, and boasted something akin to a regeneration factor on top of that. Stack on how he was their primary trainer, teaching them most of what they knew, and it would certainly be an uphill battle, damned that the Wards outnumbered him five to one.

The teens took off, Tulpa remaining behind to battle from afar with her powers, guided through the building by Decoy who kept a close eye on everything with the installed surveillance equipment. Protean was in a hurry himself, no doubt reacting to the emergency all hands on deck situation. If they lost him here, there might not be a second chance... But lose him they did not. At the bottom floor in the hall adjacent to the main lobby, just exiting the stairwell was Protean, running with gazelle legs on a largely human torso.

"Good to see you, Wards. Skipping school? There's an emergency situatio-" He stopped, both mid-sentence and in his tracks. Something felt terribly off about the whole circumstance. His eyes darted to the direction they had just been coming from: the same direction as Collin's room. Noticeably, the man took a massive whiff of the air around him, presumably using the olfactory senses of some animal that wasn't immediately visible in his current form. "I see. Well that is sad, isn't it?" His human arms began to melt before the Wards' very eyes, transforming into a primordial goo, a protein slop, before reshaping and solidifying into a set of colorful crustacean claws. Similarly, antennae grew out from his forehead.

"I'm guessing I don't get the benefit of the doubt here, so I won't bother to ask you let me pass. But I can't risk holding back on you either. Run away or go down and I won't follow. Stay standing and..." Just like that Protean had already crossed the majority of the distance between himself and the group. He threw a punch at completely imperceptible speeds with his claw arm, quite literally impossible to see. The air instantly heated up by the sheer friction, and a vacuum was created that pushed against each of the Wards with an impressive force. There could be absolutely no question that if any of them took such a punch directly they would be completely torn apart.

Doctor Dean largely ignored the sudden assault on his person from two separate sources, mostly because it didn't mean anything to him. Alloy's electric shock passed right through his translucent form, while Thunderbolt's attempt of brute force was met with equal effect. If the villain had even noticed the assault on his person he certainly did not acknowledge it. Such things were, as it appeared, too far beneath him. However it became clear that he was getting at least somewhat annoyed when the large swathes of people surrounded him, drowning him out with their inane chatter. Thankfully the green clad menace had already armed himself with the solution for this problem. Without a single beat of hesitation he fired the high-tech blaster into the crowd. Instead of a single beam of blast, it projected a large constant stream of rainbow colored light. Every individual the beam struck was silenced in the worst possible way, as the Jacks would witness the innocent civilians ripped apart before their very eyes and turned to dust.

"That is much better," he said, rather calmly considering he had just murdered dozens of people. "I do so dislike being interrupted. Am I to understand that this is your declination of my offer, then?" That's when Doctor Dean changed focus as he noticed something new and interesting. The lenses in his armor's mask visibly zeroed in on Whimsy, adjusting and shifting. The lenses even changed color at one point. "Ah, fascinating! Your power is not dissimilar to my own, separating that I am what this world classifies as a tinker. Reality string vibrational shifting, brought on by... A trigger. Let's see, and by my analysis this trigger would be... The closing of your eyes? A bit inconvenient I would think, but certainly a speedy trigger in the event of an emergency. Little one, I must study your power in greater detail."

The villain reached for his belt, pulling out what looked to be a metal hilt with nothing else attached. Then a small beam of light emitted from the hilt, giving the appearance of a lightsaber from the film franchise Star Wars, only much smaller. Like a scalpel.
