And are you aware of all the planning happening behind the scenes? Have you been collaborating with other RPers in terms of plot and character development? When you are laying out the groundwork and want quality, it takes time, especially with something of this size. It isn't a single RP with one GM and maybe five plus players, you know.

and besides, waiting for them to get everything in place instead of just dropping everything as it is now would make the game less fun or at least make it lose some of the quality it would have if they had put their all into it.

you wouldn't ask for a half written movie script right.

I agree with this. I also agree with the statement that there has been three weeks with no progress.

I can see where people are coming from with saying this and the discord were open waaaaay too soon. It's a hard balance to come across, with no visible progress.

I feel like the Discord, this forum and this thread dropped waaaaay to soon.


Just because you can't see progress doesn't mean there isn't progress. (PS: Tons of progress.)

A few people keep bringing up the "but the Discord and thread way too early"--miss me with that. I've come into contact with insanely helpful people all because we opened the Discord and sub-forum in the earliest stages. So I'm sorry we're not operating according to a schedule you approve of but it's been a net positive and it's not even close.

I know there's been progress, I've been in the discord. I'm not saying I don't approve of how things are going, I'm fine with how they're going and am putting my input in that I understand where other people are coming from.

Theres the nail and the head.

While you may have progress, and solid grounds / ideas. To most of the guild they might perceive as there is no viable progress, after the last one tanked too, the perception that it is worth the time investment is important.

Simple updates listing that development, ideas and concepts shows its not the same as its predecessor.

Now You shall probbly rage at me for this statement but it is true. Sometimes the perception, is just as important as the progress. From afar looking at that, it seems in 3 weeks you have little gains when you have many. Yet there is no sign to show it.

Hate all you like but the above is thr honest truth of the matter.

Anyone who is in the Discord has seen the progress and been able to talk with the GMs one on one, it's not fair to simply state there's no visible progress as anyone who has been genuinely invested in the game thus far has been able to see it.

Keyword there being afar, which in this case is away from the Discord. Hell, I'm not even that active over there and I know for damn sure there's been progress.

Of course you can't have visible progress from afar, it's like trying to read a book without reading glasses. There's a lot to show for it, you just aren't looking at it from the sounds of things. It might not be as quick as people like, but this is a Persistent World, not a casual roleplay. Let them organise everything they need using community input so they can settle on dates and times; they never claimed to open early, anyway.

We at least prefer to spend the time available to work on this with working on it, rather than throwing out updates in four different channels about progress.

If you want to get ideas about progress, come to the discord and ask, don't assume that there's nothing because you can't see it.
We don't mind sharing the level of progression on things, even if we're not releasing any components until all the components are ready.

No it's not.

Let alone the statement that the last one tanked and trying to use that as some justification.

There isn't even a last one. This was put on hold while we waited on Mahz. Mahz returns, does what he needs to do, we resumed but so much time had passed I decided to reshuffle the crew.

There. Now you might have a clue what you're talking about.

Yes perception is reality. We just care more about doing it right.

I know just rushing to get RPs in place half-assed is the policy of some here, but the GM team decision to take time to carefully put in place appropriate rules/safeguards/lore will allow for a better experience for all of us involved. Seems more sane and mature than telling everyone to "make space wizards or cowboys and have fun without ruining the experience for everyone around you."

In fact, I think something it's important to keep in mind that what has happened so far has been equivocal to an "announcement" for the PW. We weren't promised that everything would be established within a week, a month, or any other segment of time. Books, movies, games, and other forms of media don't get launched the time they are announced (for when they are, they tend to be catastrophically abysmal). After they are announced, these forms of media still go through a rigorous process of development and editing. This will probably be good to keep in mind as the PW is being worked on, seeing as this back and forth of complaining and defending is becoming quite tiresome when the damn thing isn't even out yet.

First, I think a persistent Star Wars Universe is a great idea. I'm anxious to see what is done with it. After reading through most of these threads, it looks like the Mods for this universe are almost ready to implement their guides, plans and work. Which is good.

I'd like to see players take the roles of chancellors, politicians and Sith Lords so we can see them attempt to control the in game galaxy (that is, if the rules allow it).

I also hope to see this grow, see what works and see what does not with some adjusting to what does not work in order to change things so that it does work. Most of all, I'd like this to be active, alive and everyone having a great time. I'm sure the mods will try their best to make everyone feel welcome, answer questions and help all they can. I might make a character or two for this, but I'll wait until the character creation guides/rules come out first.

Good job so far from what I've seen.

I've mildly thought of applying for a Sith Lord purely to have an instructor character of sorts to lend depth to the Sith backfield, or if that is unnecessary, a similar idea on the Jedi side.

Really, I would fall into any particular category that could use a face or two to flesh it out, assuming I have the energy by the time things deploy. Spam is tiring work you know...

At launch, Sith Lords and above are unavailable, as are Jedi Masters and others of comparable or higher power levels. Characters will need to grow into such ranks over time.
