"Welcome to the Golden Hind Inn, the finest, and only lodging this side of the border!"Name:
James
Age:
While unknown, it can be safely assumed James is in his later years, due to the significant amount of "gray hairs" to him.
Sex:
Male
Race:
Human
Appearance:
Dressed in clothes that can be only described as upper class, James has a flair and sense of style, from his brown striped pants to his vestcoat over top of threads underneath. While these are his primary threads, he may wear leather gloves, a cape, and a cane for more dramatic moments.
Occupation:
Innkeeper, historian, storyteller.
Skills:
Bookkeeping: As the one in charge of the Inn, as well as often handling the majority of those passing through, James is a master at keeping score of the money that goes in and out. He also helps the other older villagers when they need it, though in honesty, so long as they can afford new materials, they'll be fine.
Well-Traveled: Aware of many cultures and racial norms, James is a fine host, making sure to cater to his guests, no matter who or what they are. He does his best to keep a stock of supplies that can, as far as he knows, be used by anyone. This also allows him to dazzle the village children with tales of far away lands, and of great events of the past.
Recordkeeping: As the town historian, its his job to keep records of as much as he can. He mostly relies on younger adventurers to assist him in various tasks.
Fencing: Though this is more a rumor than anything else, its said that James is a skilled user of fencing weapons, but not much else. It's probably all part of his acts.
Food Preparation/Drink Mixing: Being able to prepare food for oneself is key, and as the Inn Keeper, its always good to be able to cover should the need arise. James is not only good at making food that appeals to most, but also at making various drinks and mixes.
Actor: He's a dramatic fellow when he needs to be. Really, its all to make the children laugh.
Equipment:
Walking Cane: A rather nice looking wooden staff that has been, over time, burnished gold, not being actually made of gold.
Description:
The larger than life James is Frontier Village's Innkeeper, a kindly old man who acts as an almost grandfather esque figure to many in the village. Despite being in the village for only a decade, his diligence has time and time again helped his fellow villagers as needed. Noble and kind, he is ever the gentleman, ever the gracious host. That isn't to say he cannot be stern, merely that he wishes to run an efficient system. When business is slow, he'll tell stories to the children, and to grownups alike, even occasionally acquiring props to assist in dramatic tales. While he rarely talks about his life prior to the village, it can be inferred he was probably from the capital, and grew tired of city life, retiring to the country side to enjoy its cleaner air, and better food. It seems that while he is not of the famous family of gourmets, he certainly is aware of their tastes.
Point of Interest:
Golden Hind Inn is located across from the village guild, allowing adventurers to move from one building to the other with ease. Over time, it has been expanded, such as when James invested into adding a small pub for those seeking something...stronger than milk and water. The pub is open for general events during the day, and at night opens for drinks, and card games. The inn itself is three stories tall, and James has confessed a desire to add more rooms, so as to accommodate more guests, as recent information suggests there may be a rather large trading festival coming up that will have traders of both the Norad Kingdom and Sechs Republic hopping along. Rustic on the inside, James lives in a series of rooms located behind the front desk, which is also implied to be where the cellar is located. There's stables for Runemon mounts, and moorings for carriages. All in all, just what a village needs.
A Note for the Players: The Inn, alongside the Adventurer's Guild, are "hub' areas, so if you're stuck on an idea for how to fit yourself in, why not put yourself on the Inn's staff? Additionally, you can use this as a place to live, as the inn will function much like its counterparts in the Its a Wonderful Life pair of Harvest Moon games.
