As the dark night carried on, Touka remained somewhere in the back. Her eyes did not strain too far from Seyrun’s form, watching the girl’s every move like a hawk. Her silence wasn’t much noticed, not when other members of the club guided Seyrun through the ropes and explained the purpose of Magical Girls. But as each one of them carried on, reality soon hit like a truck. Every girl felt the physical presence of their enemy before the crash happened.

Touka flicked her sights from Seyrun to Ayumu and then the Nightmare that had decided to crash their little sleepover. The Black Knight and Phantasmagoria, transformed and raring to go, each did what they could to detract the Nightmare from its prey. By now, Touka had noticed the massive hulking creature was scoring for Mascots, one already caught in its jaws before being lost to a deep darkness. It figured that so many Mascots in one place would attract attention, but she was doubtful the cat-like monsters could even feel pain, let alone fear and suffering.

And of course, that also meant that a Mascot turned human would become the highest target of priority. Touka snapped her fingers, transforming into Red Wire around the same time Hivemother emerged. However, instead of joining the fight, the Dark Magical Girl stalked after Seyrun. A crooked smirk jagged itself over her lips and she almost broke out into full smile when Seyrun pleaded for guidance. There was a darkness swamping over the girl…

“If you seek the power you want, make a contract with that Mascot. It’s not difficult and I know you can do it,” Red Wire soothed. “You can see me, right? Take the next step…and only then will you understand why we do what we do. Why we bathe ourselves in the shadows.” No doubt that would give Seyrun something to think about but that was all that Red Wire left her with.

She didn’t intend for her newest weapon to fall easy and that meant getting rid of the Nightmare first. “You know what to do,” was all that she said to the Detention Club, emerging from the kitchen and forming a deadly-looking spear out of wire in her hand. “A Nightmare so bold and foolish as to attack on its own; remind it that our magic greater than its instincts,” she ordered, hurling her weapon right for the Nightmare’s chest.

Theme
This Nightmare was not the easy prey Ayumu expected. The specters of Mascots did not cause an iota of deviation in its gaze, slow steps drawing in closer to the home without even acknowledging them. This didn't change when the illusions turned feral and the great cats leaped towards the Nightmare to try and rake across its flanks.

The reasoning for this was shockingly self evident, as the Shadow cats melted upon contact with the miasma of darkness surrounding the beast. Not a grunt was heard, their forms dissolved before even striking the creature's hide. What magic constituted Ayumu's illusions was so paltry it made no visibly difference in the Nightmare's aura, but that was soon to change with Ami bursting forward and burying her boot into the Behemoth's face.

Four eyes flashed with acknowledgement, howling at finally being struck even as the firey Magical Girl darted back with waves of fire following in her wake. Just as the illusions were, the flames too were swallowed up by the miasma, and now it would be obvious that the cloud was growing in proportion to the magic pumped into it. It rose outwards and upwards, like the burner on a stove that tappered to a flickering bulb of ravenous hunger fuelled by the immaterial attacks.

From where Ami landed, she'd feel a sudden weakness in her leg and looking upon it would reveal patchwork holes like the left over feasting of mothes upon her Magical Girl transformation, stripping it away to glimpse the pajamas she wore moments prior. She would feel a dip in her magical reserves, stolen away to feed their adversary whose form was lost entirely in the miasma.

Apia's efforts where to fair little better, the bees more substantial then illusions and flame yet so small that they were lost to the darkness before they could complete their second revolution of its leg. Apia's warieness would spare her Ami's ill effect if she broke off from her attack, but if she continued her stinger would only secure a single strike before melting along with the garments across her arm and chest, such was the depth of its rapidly increased aura.

Then came another beastly roar, this time one of pain, as a tightly woven spear of wire tore its defense and struck the beast's hide. It melted just the same, but lasted enough for the spearhead to punch through and give the Nightmare cause to tear its ravenous eyes from Kuro and acknowledge the Magical Girls threatening it.

It followed the bellow with a great inhalation, the force of its breath pulling at the wild hair of the assembled girls as it drew in debris, detritus, and its own miasma into painfully distended jaws. The Nightmare's visage was revealed once again, bright red crag's bristling with magical power just beneath its hide. So much more then the Detention Club would harvest in a month of non-stop hunting, now crammed into one beast whose aura was condensed into a ball of ravenous intent.

Kanbaru watched the initial exchange play out with a calculating gaze, widening marginally at the ineffectiveness of their attacks up till the Club President struck a blow worthy of reprisal. At least we can be certain this thing isn't a secret speedster.

However there was little else to celebrate when she connected the dots and realized what it was planning. A surge of panic forced her to fall to one knee and slam both her hands into the ground. The front of Ami's house where the rest of the Club stood paralyzed in shock was encased in a solid sheet of ice, plugging up the broken windows with feet upon feet of blackened ice just as the Nightmare's inhalation ended.

A moment later, and it released a breath that carried the miasma in a wave of darkness surging toward the residence. The street, sidewalk, and building itself were entirely unaffected by the murky tide, but on contact the ice sizzled and melted, inches disappearing in seconds. The barrier would last precious little, but for the magical girls it would have to be enough.

"Everyone, move it or lose it!" The Code Keeper barked out, sprinting into the kitchen after Seyrun, holding the door just long enough that Tsuruga came in right after her, still in her pajamas with Kuro pulled to her chest in a death grip. The Iron Winged Magical girl was cursing under her breath, her wings too much of a hassle to transform into in such a cramped space.

There were precious few moments left before the last of the ice gave way and filled the main room with the Nightmare's miasma. To those girls still outside and away from the directed attack, they'd find the Nightmare exposed without the protection of its aura.

Yui had been listening with attention at Margaret's story, just like her friends had. She gave a worried look at Tama once the story had been heard, but mostly remained silent.

It was only when Miss Tamashi spoke up, after their little Team Spirit display, that Yui could be heard muttering something seemingly out of a reflex; "...could there be multiple 'demons'?..." realizing she'd probably have been heard, she spoke louder.

"I wanted to tell Tama and Honoka something before we came here. Miss Tamashi, you mentioned the word Demon. I don't exactly know what it means or what it is, but it's the second time I'm hearing it mentioned today..." she marked a pause, thinking. Then, realizing she was doing a poor job at reassuring Margaret, the usual Yui smile came back to her lips.

"Oh!...B-but, whatever it is we'll bring your emblem back for sure! Just like Honoka and Miss Tamashi said. Keep Hope, for it is the brightest of any lights - and fiercest at banishing darkness."

If indeed this man was a Demon, then maybe he could provide on some information about the other Demon Yui had heard about - Aegis sister. If she was the source of the Darkness which fell over Miso City...she might have a lot to answer for.

"Oh?" Miss Tamashi did not miss the mention of demons among Yui's mutterings. Not when the scent of deep magic and chaos was in the night air. Even so, the conversation was brought back to order once Yui focused on the task at hand. Miss Tamashi made sure to meet the younger girl's gaze and smile with a nod; a sign that they had much to discuss later about these demons. But first, they needed to help out Margaret now didn't they?

"Alright girls, no time to sweat! We've got a Demon to wrangle in before the New Year approaches! Please, put on your coats and huddle close to me..." The area was about to get chilly in just a few moments. As soon as every girl had come close to the teacher, there would be a surge of magical power thrust upon them. It was a gentle push but one forceful all the same with the cold buffeting wind of outside slapping against their faces. "Here we are! I've tracked down the Demon's signature to this place-brrr!" Miss Tamashi wrapped her arms around herself, having using some kind of magic to teleport all of them to the foot of Miso Tower Central.

The highest skyscraper in the city.

At the sudden sting of winter air, Tama shivered and wrapped her arms around herself. "Brrr... Well th-that's a quick and easy way to t-travel at least," she commented. Just how powerful was Miss Tamashii? Not only had the teacher seemed to read her thoughts, she'd transported them all right to where they needed to be. Was this proof that magical girls really could become strong enough to make a difference? Tama could only hope so.

She stared up at the tower that reached high into the sky. "A demon, huh?" Somehow, the revelation that demons existed came as no surprise at all. Her experiences had told her pretty much anything was possible - in particular the things she didn't want to be possible. "Explains the weird atmosphere over the city. Especially if there really are more than one running around. I would say what next, but that'd just be tempting fate."

Honoka, meanwhile, didn't know what she was reeling the most from, the talk of demons or the teleportation spell. She'd thought their only enemies were Nightmares and dark magical girls, but yet again, it turned out there was more to this world than she'd known. Despite her bewilderment and ever-growing self doubt in the face of this unknown threat, she turned and beamed at her friends.

"Whatever it is next, I'm sure we'll be able to take on it just fine!" she reassured Tama. "Just like we can take on this. Now, let's go kick some demon butt! Uh..." She glanced at Miss Tamashii. "I take it you've done that before, right? Fought demons?"

As Honoka's attention rested on the teacher, so did Tama's. "If you have," the crystal user said, "is there anything we should know about them beforehand?"

Any further conversation would be immediately halted by a massive crash as a sword impaled the ground in front of them, cratering the concrete and sending dust flying into the air. "So you approach me willingly? I, Henry Avaritia, the Silver King, Archdemon Conqueror of the Nexus? Very well then, let our battle be one that shall rock this pitiful world to it's-" The grandiose speech was suddenly cut off by a horrid cough as Henry wandered out of the dust cloud, covering his mouth with one of his sleeves as he tried to catch his breath. His eyes were squeezed shut, his other arm rubbing them furiously as his cough died down. "Fuck, I thought I would be able to do that in one take. Practiced for like an hour, didn't think about dust at all. Deva damnit, I knew I was forgetting something." His arms came away from his face, his eyes watery as he rapidly blinked, his eyes fluttering from that of a normal man to something straight from the void for a brief moment.

Henry shook his head and straightened out his jacket, several strange blade like devices emerging from his coat and floating around him. They eventually settled behind him, each one pointing their faces towards Miss Tamashi as Henry finally focused on the group. "Hey wait a minute... those things on you are..." He trailed off as he began muttering to himself, tapping away at several screens only he could see as he completely ignored the Magical Girls. "Well this is a major downer. I can't believe I didn't notice those earlier, I was all geared up for the best fight of my life and everything." A heavy sigh escaped his lips as he shook his head, holding one hand to his forehead as muttered to himself about meddlesome angels.

"Did you need something or what? If you're gonna ask about a place to stay then I'm afraid the hotel is booked, already got someone- why did you bring your kids?" Henry blinked in confusion as he finally noticed the Light Girls, the blades pointing towards them now as he looked them over.

Yui still had a hard time understanding where exactly she was to put Miss Tamashi in all of the paranormal truths she was told and uncovered lately. On top of magic, that is. Her following act didn’t help Yui make up her mind, neither. Suddenly, cold air arose and the whole group was transported, or so it seemed, to another location. The green haired magical girl’s first reaction was to look around for Margaret, but she was nowhere to be found. She turned to Tama, stating; “I’m fairly sure there are mo--” but was cut off.

The entrance of the great Silver King, Archdemon Conqueror of the...something did not come in a subtile manner. While his entrance was silly, Yui remained on guard. Her eyes traveled from the apparent ‘Demon’ to Miss Tamashi - obviously she was way more than she let on, and Yui suspected she was the strongest of their group. Her reaction in face of the newcomer would tell her how to react. Not being prompt to violence, Yui first spoke up.

“A-are you the person who stole our friend’s emblem? We came to take it back. As well as as some questions.”

"Oh dear...you're one of those Nexus bullies, aren't you. I thought that project was scrapped a long time ago," Miss Tamashi said; though it might have been hard to pick up with the sword crashing into the ground. She looked up at the buffeted Demon up high with a sigh and a shake of her head, answering both Tama and Honoka at once. "Demons, at least most of them, are tricky creatures who often value pride above all else. They also like to monolouge alot but that's neither here nor there...as one can imagine, light is their weakness. Among others things, especially concerning this one."

Miss Tamashi smiled once Henry addressed her. "Goodness me! Do I really look that old? Well, I suppose in a way, these three are my children." She reached out to pat Yui on the head. "Just as she said, we'd like to ask you a few questions Mr. Silver Demon. Just a few, no more than that. See, my daughter, tragic as it is she can't be with us right now, has lost something most precious to her. Have you seen a shiny object of magical power? Something like, say...the ones I see you eyeing on my girls now," Miss Tamashi said, poking at one of the hovered blades before them.

The moment the blade crashed into concrete, red and blue light flared through the dust. Both Honoka and Tama, or rather Allegra and Angelite, stood their ground as a white-haired man made his dramatic introduction. An introduction cut short by a coughing fit.

Allegra suppressed a chuckle. Even if their enemy wasn't quite as intimidating as she'd expected, laughing at him seemed like a bad idea. The daggers that floated from his coat were proof enough of this, each black blade pointing towards Miss Tamashii. "L-Leave her alone!" Allegra stepped closer to the teacher, gripping her guitar in preparation for Henry's next move. She trusted Miss Tamashii was more than capable of standing up to the demon, but she couldn't let anyone who'd gotten involved get hurt. Even if, compared to the others, there was little she could do.

"Honoka..." Angelite placed her hand on the musician's shoulder, a gesture for her to step back, while listening to the teacher. "Monologuing?" Her gaze became a pointed glare as it shifted to the archdemon. "Yeah, don't they just."

She folded her arms, facing the new threat. While she didn't attack, the crystals that made up her wings bristled in case things turned ugly, which they almost certainly would sooner or later. "Just what do you want with emblems anyway?" she asked, her tone steadier than Honoka's, yet sharp-edged. "And what's this Nexus project?"

From the way Miss Tamashii had spoken of the subject, it sounded to have something to do with this.

A few questions got thrown his way, each one met with a different reaction. Did you steal our friend's emblem? A bored look as Henry buffed his nails on his shirt and checked them for leftover dust. Have you seen a shiny object of magical power like the things you're looking at now? A yawn, followed by a so so gesture. Just what do you want with emblems anyways? A small grin, Henry loved talking about his latest projects. What is the Nexus Project? For only a second, a look of pain combined with fear. "Alright alright alright kids, let's take it from the top. Didn't think we would be having a lightning round, let me gather my thoughts. Now then, have I seen shiny objects of magical power? Yeah, seen plenty. Some on those other girls I've seen around town, some on you. If I had a nickel for every Emblem I've seen, I would have 15 nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it is a strangely large amount considering the topic." A thoughtful look crossed his face as he tapped away on another screen, one of the blades returning to him and rotating several times before returning to look at Miss Tamashii.

"What do I want with Emblems? Well I think they're really fascinating artifacts, this is all high level stuff that's gonna go over your head, but I'm currently doing a lot of investigation into the various aspects. Paradoxum, Eyes, Soul, Heart, Will, it's all fascinating stuff that I could spend hours going over. But I won't, because that's hours I could be spending on decoding the mysteries of the universe and/or killing... wait no, don't kill anymore. That's a bad, people don't come back to life in most universes. Next question!" He clapped, bringing all his blades back together as they assembled into a thin screen.

"The Nexus Project was an attempt to make the perfect army via constant war between three factions. Demons, which I am one of as you can guess thanks to your weird bondage mom. Machina, which were humans up until the point their toasters learned humans sucked and took over the war for them. I ended up joining those dudes because as it turns out, Demons are kind of assholes. Big shocker. And Angels, which are a bunch of losers with sticks so far up their holy asses that it's a wonder they could even walk, let alone fight. Well, there was one good Angel. No idea what ever happened to her, she was cool though." The screen split up into three segments, one showcasing a massive demon with a laser cannon for an arm sitting at a tea table way too small for him, the next showing off a young woman adorned in all sorts of electronics several dozen wires connected to her from the shadows, and the final showing off an Angel wearing glasses messing around with a large pile of scrap. She appears to be laughing in the photo, which was quite strange considering how the background appears to be a room straight out of Hell, with a massive throne covered in blood and jagged metal off to the side.

"I was a product of the Nexus, one of the greatest killers it had ever produced. Unfortunately everyone else there was a bunch of failures aside from like, one or two other people, so they blew up the Nexus to try again from scratch. I barely managed to escape thanks to my teacher, pretty sure I'm the only one who lived. Sucks to be those guys. Now then, final question! Did I steal your friend's emblem..." Henry made a circular motion with his hands, the screens splitting up into blades once more and producing a drumroll sound effect. As it reached it's crescendo, Henry took a deep breath and said...

"Yeah. I took the emblem." A small portal appeared in midair, a purple pentagram surrounded by several arcane symbols and what appeared to be incredibly long strings of code looping and constantly changing. A small green necklace fell out of the portal, directly into Henry's hand as he presented it to the group. "I've been working on producing a source of unlimited energy so I can make a Paradoxum at no cost to myself, this seemed like a good start." No shame was present on his face, in fact his face was filled with no small amount of pride. It was like he couldn't even grasp the basic concept that stealing was bad. "Now unless you have any further questions, I really need to get back to my research. I also need to ask my guest to fight me to the death. Wait no, death is bad in this universe. Keep forgetting about that. Can the child of a Vassal even die? Don't answer that, you don't know."

"So I see~"

The look on Miss Tamashi's face had splintered from the constant grin into something more resmbling a smirk. Or maybe she was bemused by the Demon's prattling and tell-tale signs. "Yes, yes, I see now. You must be one of those special demons I've been hearing about lately. Well, there's no need to dwell further on the past; especially of the Nexus. I'm afraid that's all things here and there, that'll just go over these poor girls' heads." Miss Tamashi coolly laid her gaze on Henry's form. Ever since he'd made mention of aspects and foreign words, her eyes had lit up with an unnatural gleam, one of magical proportion.

"If you're delving into those arcane secrets demon, then this has all the markings of your lucky day! Oh, but you've known that already, yes? To have it staring you in the face...ironic for those eyes of yours, hmm?" With a click of her heels and a snap of the wrist, the homeroom teacher's shape and form suddenly blinded all near with a flash of watery light. With a light so potent such as this, it was easy enough to transform into what resmbled a Magical Girl uniform without the others being too peeping. The new attire almost made Miss Tamashi appear twenty years younger but, as she would say, that was neither here nor there.

"Yes, yes. I see this is a matter that should be handled by me." Less bombastically, Miss Tamashi leaned forward towards the group of girls gathered. "This won't take long~" was her helpful hint before she turned back to Henry. Be it by conversation or distraction she continued speaking to the demon directly. "My, my, to see someone like you progress this far. But you can't replicate the Body...if you lack any Soul, dear Avaritia~"

Henry stared at Miss Tamashii cooly, his blades all retreating to him as they slowly formed into his usual weapon. "So you wish to take my treasures from me? Even in your current state, bound by the chains of an angel?" He sighed dramatically, grasping the collection of blades as they surely formed into a sword, a sword sharper than any in this world. "Well I've never been one to turn down a fight. I suppose I can indulge you just this once." He said in a faux exasperated tone, his struggle to hold back a smile betraying his words. "Now let me show you my Soul, let your Eyes percieve my journey to this place and this time." He flourished his blade in front of him dramatically, audibly slicing through the air and tearing open space. "Behold my weapon, empowered by the best of Machina magitek and my own personal Magicks! Once the blade of a cheater, now this has become the House Rule!" Henry stepped forward, passing through the spacial distortion and reappearing right in front of Miss Tamashii with a manic grin, his glamor sliding off of him as he revealed his true form to the Magical Girls gathered. "Now lets see if you can beat the house odds." And so the battle began.

Henry opened quickly with a flurry of slashes, each one cutting through space and distorting the air around it, making it harder to actually percieve where Henry was even striking. What appeared to be an attack to the leg would strike at her throat, a sweep to the legs actually an attempt to vertically bisect the teacher as space only grew more and more warped. The assault lasted but a brief moment before the world corrected itself, the space that Henry attacked forcibly moving back into proper position with an explosion of force directed solely at the Prime Magical Girl.

"Ah, is it that obvious? If it is, then you know very well what I am. Who I am." Miss Tamashi tried very hard not to yawn as the demon sported his usual bravado. She knew she had promised the Magical Girls that this would be quick, but feared this Henry would find some way in dragging it out for too long. But at least he got to the point of the matter; literally and eventually. With it came the flashy, spectacular moves one would expect of a grand magus or warrior of old. Certainly, if Henry was trying to show off, this would be the appropriate manner.

Flipping her spear around and about, Miss Tamashi spun it between her fingers in deadly force, blocking the physical blows the demon gave with precise dexterity and strength meant to nearly force Henry back with each sword swing. However, even those movements that were ghostly and hollow, those meant in a world of illusion, would become barricaded by a physical presence. Miss Tamashi's cool smirk didn't let up as a force of her own parried the indiscriminate strikes, nearly invisible to the eye. Though with his own, Henry could see clearly.

"Let's take this elswhere Avaritia. I don't want my students getting any wrong ideas about me," the teacher said before rising up above the boy. Without wings, she glided upwards towards the top of the tower, intentionally so to make her form as impassable as possible to the watchers below. Isolated now, Henry could see the swift and cutting forms of his own sword slashing about around Miss Tamashi, still striking the cuts in a formed space while now focusing their efforts onto the demon. "Haven't you done your homework? There's more a single Soul can do, blind to anyone's Eyes..."

Each blow was swiftly blocked, something once unusual for the sword that could cut through anything, now something that Henry had grown used to. It didn't phase him, nor was he particularly bothered by Tamashii's retreat to the top of the skyscraper. Wings of black feathers and sleek metal emerged from his back as he took to the air, arriving at the peak of the tower just after Tamashii. "I can understand, I would be pretty embarrassed if I got my ass kicked in front of my student too." His mockery was shallow, no real bite behind his words as he moved to defense. For a brief moment he frowned as he blocked each strike from the sword, clicking his tongue as he locked eyes with the teacher. "I know they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but at a certain point it does become plagiarism." His own tricks wouldn't work against him of course, he has grown used to fighting within distorted space, he has basically had to just to be able to use his fighting style and not constantly swing at empty air by accident. Each cut in space was not only blocked, but corrected as Henry parried in such a manner that space was adjusted quickly enough that the world would have no need to intervene.

But he wasn't getting anywhere like this, if he wanted to break the current stalemate he would have to pull more tricks out of his sleeve. "Gate of Tartarus: Roulette!" The same portal he had displayed earlier flashed into existence behind him, a series of numbers flashing by before suddenly stopping on the number 5. "Cleave!" His sword was discarded for a brief moment as he backflipped away from the copies, his hand reaching into the portal and withdrawing a massive axe as he completed his flip and landed on his feet. "Hmm, bad roll. Oh well." Henry gripped the massive thing with both hands as he charged back into the fray, smashing away the copy as he attempted to move back into the offensive. "Judgement!" As he called out its name the axe glowed, electricity springing to life along the edge as he went for a massive overhead smash. Meanwhile as House Rule clattered onto the ground, it slowly started sliding back towards Henry, as it carefully positioned itself for a future trick.

"Yes, very true. Plagiarism is outlawed for a reason. Thus, you should definitely check the rules before copying the original, demon. Fufufu~" Miss Tamashi stood idly by as Henry attacked the copied sword with strikes of his own up until he realized there was no point in a mirror match. But it was a mirror match he was going to recieve, especially when his new weapon of choice was revealed. "Oh? Really trying to sell the rock boy band look with that one, aren't you?" Miss Tamashi commented among the sound of shattered steel. The replica House Rule, if one could call it so, shimmered to the ground in several pieces. Yet if the teacher was concerned of this matter, she didn't show it.

Instead, she dashed backwards when Henry made his mighty axe heaves and swings, electricity crackling in the air. "But truthfully, I don't like being ignored Avaritia. And if your Eyes won't see that, then I'll gouge them out personally." A good distance placed between them, Miss Tamashi spun her spear in one hand, the weapon gliding over and between her fingers. From it a portal to match the Gate of Tartarus opened forward, a wave of steel and cutlery sluding outwards like a spout of water. All of them were weapons of physical kind, each one shot towards the demon like pelted rain. To those that missed, they merely changed trajectory to try again, avoiding hitting the Magical Girls below.

"The Soul is the source of all weapons. All manner of magic. Or didn't you know this, Avaritia," Miss Tamashi said with a dangerous gleam in her gaze and a lick of her lips.

"Of course I know this, Aspect. But a fight is not determined by weapon nor magic alone. The battle is won on strategy and proper use of resources. But most of all, the battle is won on intelligence, something you seem to be behind on." Henry smirked as his Gate of Tartarus opened up behind Tamashii, but there was not a hint of concern on his face as he faced down the copies of his treasures. "After all, you're using version 1.0 to fight 2.0." He swung his axe around him quickly, his arms never stopping as he not only deflected every weapon but shattered it completely with little concern. "My new Gates are much stronger than what you have opened, by enforcing limits and rules to the magic I can focus it and make it stronger. You see, I didn't choose this weapon. This was complete luck of the draw." Henry adjusted his axe a tad as he swung at a collection of swords heading straight for him, the flat of his axe hitting them right back at Tamashii like a baseball bat hitting a homerun. "By choosing my weapons randomly and only using one at a time, I can strengthen them beyond their normal limits. While this blade spam would be my usual MO, I've evolved beyond suck tactics. So I suggest you do as well."

He moved forward quickly, carving a path through the sea of blades with hardly even a hint of concern, each attack being batted away with the same amount of precision he would reserve for his katana. "Now stop running away and face me like the warriors we are!" Another swing for Tamashii, accompanied by the electricity on the axe amplifying and forming several cutting blades of electricity to join the first swing.

"I forgot how much you mortals prattle, especially regarding denizens of darkness," Miss Tamashi sighed. "Oh, but if you want me to make this harder, then by all means." The teacher halted spinning her spear, merely to conjure another portal with a flick of her other hand. At once the same velocity stream of weapons poured out like a bellowing tide, though these arms would be much more durable than the last. "There, your 2.0. If that really makes you happy-you want a personal match?" Miss Tamashi mused once Henry finally reached her. Spear still gripped in hand, she spun it about before clashing with the electrical axe. The additional blades behind the swing were equally blocked, each one hammering down on the spear.

"Though isn't this cheating, demon? You know very clearly I'm not even at full capacity, not as I am now..." Miss Tamashi wiggled a leg to show off, making known the invisible chains that still clung to her form. "No, no...if you want a real fight of worth, you'd do best to let me finish my plans here in this city. Wouldn't that be interesting for you, Avaritia~?" She held down Henry's slashes in a blade lock of her own spear; all the same, the new portal continued to belch out weaponry slashing and piercing for the demon. "Maybe then you'd actually use those coveted Eyes..."

Henry grunted with exertion as he tried to break the stalemate, additional blades emerging from his coat and fending off the swarm of weapons as best they could. Of course it wasn't enough, Henry knew very well how his tactics worked when you didn't have a clear counter available. Eventually he would have to break out his Gates in full force, but even that was just a bandaid for the gaping wound that was Tamashii's power. "Has anyone ever told you how annoying fighting you is? God damn do I hate fakers and copycats." An ironic given her status, the source of powers and whatnot. But Henry liked talking for the sake of talking, gave him time to think. A dagger cut through his side, the first blade to get through his hasty defense. "Let's just say I break off the fight here. I give you the dumb Emblem thing, we call it a draw. You do your plan, probably get the chains off is my guess. How do I know you're gonna bother sticking around for a real fight rather than immediately running off for revenge against the Vassal?" A spear breaks through, its force not enough to break through the defenses offered by his coat. Almost ready, just a few more seconds of stalling.

"Has anyone ever told you how annoying fighting you is?" Even her words were reflected back, like a mirror upon the beholder. A gentle hand cruelly snatched at Henry's throat, Miss Tamashi's nails digging into either side of the neck. She held him there, away from her by a monstrous strength. "You talk too much demon. Doubting my word? Now you've insulted my hospitality out of bad sportsmanship!" Her spear lowered in her other hand, she held Henry aloft enough for some of her guided weapons to stab through; but not all. "But if it's a vow you wish to keep, so be it. I swear I'll promise you a real battle worthy of your time when I'm not wearing these rags....there, does that satisfy you~?"

Miss Tamashi leaned in close with an animalistic glaze to her eyes. "The Eyes are the gateways to the Soul, Avaritia. This is your lesson in the matter." Direct contact was followed by intense, horrifying pain. A energy, no, magic so dense and pure washed through Henry's form, guided by the stare Miss Tamashi continued to hold. "Come now, I thought you were knowledgeable of these matters? Don't you want to feel the full extent the Soul has to offer~?" Miss Tamashi mused, setting the demon's own soul afire with her own, pure magic streaming through his veins. Yet there was another reason she stared into his Soul; drawing another portal with the tip of her spear in the air, Miss Tamashi flushed out what she was looking for: Margaret's Emblem.

Only when it landed upon the length of her spear did she slide herself away from Henry, the burning contact of their Souls dissipating along with it. "I'll be taking this back now. It's not nice to steal from little girls. Now go back to your idle life while I finish my own plans," Miss Tamashi muttered, tossing Henry away to wherever it was demons went to crawl back into the darkness.

Henry choked on his words, literally as Miss Tamashii choked the life out of him. But he was not satisfied, not until his blackened blood dripped onto her arms and he grabbed on to the hand holding him. "The pact is sealed, let our geas be binding and true." A mere formality, but one any Demon worth their salt always insisted upon when making a deal. A magic gripped Miss Tamashii's own as she forced him through hell, she could clearly recognize that Henry had enforced pact magic upon the both of them via verbal contract. He did not struggle as he felt her raw power course through his Soul, he hardly even blinked as he was burned from the inside out. A few lifetimes of dying in creative ways taught one a lot about pain tolerance in the end, to be quite honest his teacher had probably put him through worse than this. The amulet landed upon Miss Tamashii's spear with little issue, Henry didn't fight for it nor did he even attempt to get back up once Miss Tamashii flung him onto the ground. "I wish you the best of luck in your plans Aspect. But know this." It was sudden and unexpected, House Rule was inches away from her stomach before anyone could possibly react. "I had you one hand away from busting. The house always wins." He forced himself into a sitting position, his wounds already healing as his eyes glowed a dull silver. "Always."

Miss Tamashi looked from the demon to the blade resting just next to her naval. Her spear dissipated as she held the Emblem personally in her grip. Her eyes eventually traced away from the sword back to Henry's dulled but healing form. Then, inch by inch, the crease in her lips crooked upwards into a vicious, hollow smirk. Instead of fading away or moving backwards, Miss Tamashi slowly pistoned her body against the tip of the blade, walking into its length, before soon enough the sword was engulfed into the width of her body. With a stare that brought with it a feral, unseen fury, she looked upon Henry, all other things in the world melting away for a single moment.

With all said and done, Miss Tamashi slowly picked the sword out of her body frame by frame before tossing aside the soaked weapon. Emblem in hand, she descended back to the earth. The click of her heels on solid ground signified her return to the Magical Girls. With a wobbled grin, she casually placed her palm around her bloodied gut. "Oh dear...that demon got me good, but...." With a quick little circle and a clack of her heels, she transformed back into her regular clothes. In one hand she held out the Emblem and in the other, she formed her fingers into the victory pose.

Group Attack

The Hivemother immediately stopped her attack as she saw Ami suffer the penalty of trying to take the beast head on. It looked like it did a serious dent to the girl, with her PJs showing underneath the magical girl outfit she was wearing. Christ, if that's how strong this beast was, the Hivemother really couldn't get close with anything she had. Her bees would just get blasted to bits by the miasma, like a few just did, and she wasn't going to get anywhere close to the beast with her Stinger.

The wall of ice rose in front of the apartment, no doubt as a result of the handiwork of the groups Keeper. The beast seemed to be distraught with it, but had assaulted the ice all the same as it propelled its miasma towards it, melting the ice and spilling a darkness all over Ami's apartment. No doubt that wasn't going to smell great after, but it gave the combating Magical Girls an opportunity, as the miasma around the beast had been lifted, for a short time at least. If there was any time that the Hivemother was going to get an attack in, now would be that time.

"Come, troops! We must seize this opportunity while we can! Converge onto the Nightmare, posthaste!" Apia tapped into her own magic reserves to call forth more troops, swarms of insects appearing from every nook and cranny around as they swarmed around the beast, attempting to sting it wherever they could and as quickly as they could. The Hivemother nodded as she joined in the fight as well, running up to the Nightmare's maw and attempting to jab it with her rapier, ready to hop out of the way of danger if she had to. If she could get a few shots in, the mouth of the monster would freeze up due to the paralytic poison, which is exactly what she needed to see at that moment.

The wall to Ami,s place literally imploded, the force of...whatever had caused it sending debris everywhere inside. The rest of the actions, as the newcomer probably noticed, happened quite fast. Everyone - Ayumu and Ami first - rose to battle and charged forward. Machiko was left behind...her stare had not moved from where it was prior to the wall exploding. When finally she turned her gaze towards the gaping hole was also when she finally dropped the last piece of trash she was to put away and would have been done with cleaning. By the time said piece of trash touched the ground, Machiko was transformed into the Maid, her shield floating in front of her to protect her from the debris and shock-wave. Her regular jaded expression was replaced by a...caring look, with a constant smile. Her right arm now wore a dark gauntlet with a glowing gem in it, and her left arm held a massive lance made of the same material. Both were in dire contrast with her magical girl outfit; that of a Maid.

While the ice still held, Machiko's eyes fell on Seyrunn briefly, who was making for the kitchen. With a little chance, she'd lose her life here and avoid a life of meaningless struggle. The thought alone brought a wide, caring smile on Machiko's face. Soon, the new club member was joined in the kitchen by Touka.

Not The Maid though. Keeping her elegant pose, the shield, floating, raised a bit and her grasp on her lance tightened. As soon as the last of the Ice was about to fail...she launched herself upward like a missile.

Her magic was straightforward, and came in the form of pure physical might with little to no finesse at all. With the help of weapon and shield, she smashed right through the ceiling and jumped onto the roof. With no wasted time, she dashed forward and on the very edge of the room, she launched herself upward.

At the maximum height of her jump, her Lance began spinning like a drill and glowing in a spiral around it. "I will serve your essence to my friends, now."

She then fell back downward, aiming at the Nightmare's head. The lance tip made contact with the nightmare, but seemed to stall for a moment - but it wasn't enough. With a jerk of her arm and a scream, the remainder of her attack hit the nightmare full scale; the damage she sustained paired with the other club member's attacks lowered it's defense and weakened it, after all.

If she didn't outright pierced the Nightmare, the attack would most likely bring it's massive head down to smash against the street down below.

A sharp pain that the Nightmare couldn't ignore resonated from its jaw already stretched to the limits of its musculature to douse Ami's apartment in its miasmic breath. Yet it couldn't close its gaping maw to draw the Miasma back in, its head paralyzed in place from the swift strikes of Apia's stingers. The Behemoth didn't know panic or fear, but it knew confusion as its greatest weapon and shield was pumped out in one direction while every other was assailed by stings and bites.

It's indecision at being so effectively countered provided all the opening that Machiko needed, her lance obliterating the Nightmare's once fearsome head, and with it, the body gave out under its own weight and fell into a pile of steadily fading Nightmare matter. The corpse and the miasma converted into a palatable magical essense before surging towards the assembled girls with more vigor then before.

A veritable horde of power struck them, forcing those still untransformed into their Magical Attire and even repairing Ami's in full, suffused them all. An intoxicating rush that would have taken a good month of non-stop hunting, drunk in full in but the start of the night off for the Dark Girls.

Tsuruga's wings snapped outwards in full, tearing through the walls of Ami's kitchnes and exposing it to the street outside while she bounced with a manic energy, her face buried in the mop of Kuro's hair. Then she spun, and her wings ensured Ami would not have much of an apartment to return to.

"Well, that was not how I'd have liked to be introduced to this." The Code Keeper remarked, periodically ducking a metal wing while her shorter compatriots plus Seyrun went unharmed. That Nightmare was something else, but it was a shame they needed to trash the place to get a shot at killing it. Her gaze flickered from the two magical girls standing over the Nightmare's remains, tacitly sliding passed Ami and the meltdown she'd cause, to land on Seyrun. "Umm, welcome to the Club. Next party is at your place."

The night closed without further attack. In fact, there was not a Nightmare to be seen. An unnatural stillness, waiting to be broken by the first cast stone.

New Year’s came and went as it did in Miso City. With it were the arrival of new forces, both of light and darkness. And yet, despite these new additions and the relative similarity they each brought, there was something amiss about the city. The weather became just a bit warmer but that didn’t stop the cold winds from sneaking up on inhabitants. Something was amiss, and it bugged Touka’s mind since the impromptu sleepover at Ami’s place. It was a week later since the day of, a Friday afternoon to mark the beginning of the weekend.

Touka had opted to hold no Detention Club meeting today, figuring the other girls would spend their time meandering and having fun around their city. Personally, Touka didn’t feel like speaking with most of them; there were too many factors to consider and keep in mind. Such as it were now that she stalked alone in Miso City’s streets, deciding to head home straight from school. Though of course, that didn’t mean she wouldn’t make a few stops on the way. After all, it was Friday.

Ever since the Nightmare attack on Ami’s home, each of the dark girls could feel a surge of power budding inside them. Indeed, the boost they had received from it had done wonders…yet for some reason, it only resulted in a stinging pain in Touka’s chest. It wasn’t enough to deter her from normal function of day to day life, but it was beginning to aggravate her. And then there was Seyrun, who despite being pushed and goaded, hadn’t actually made a contract with a Mascot yet.

Why was that? By now the two were partners and she joined the Detention Club, but she couldn’t transform into a Magical Girl, let alone a dark one. Was there something else Touka wasn’t seeing? There was no doubt among any of them Seyrun’s magical potential was exceptional. Then there was Kuro, the human-turned Mascot. And of course, the angelic Magical Girl that had entered their city, Luna’s murderer…in hindsight, there was a lot more going on than Touka had realized in just a few weeks.

All the same, none of it made sense, and thinking on it wouldn’t give her answers either. But there was one mystery that was solvable, and the faint trace of it made her pause her step. She ignored the grumble close by, the person walking behind her having bumped against her stopped frame before moving on. The dark Magical Girl was rigid, sensing a light she hadn’t felt in some time.

“This feels like… that’s the noob from that night in the park. The one in class…Yui,” she thought, frowning. Ever since Seyrun had made such a bold proclamation, she hadn’t even bothered to confront the other girl about the matter. There were too many happenings at once for her to try; or maybe she was just running away. Regardless, she zeroed in on Yui’s location now and moved her feet towards her. There were things between them that needed to be settled.

All the while, the afternoon sun dipped lower into the darkness of evening. It wasn’t enough to completely drench the city in shadow, but it did encourage some restless behavior from small-time Nightmares and even the mascots. It was as if the gods divine had turned their sights on this oasis of magic.

Passing the Time

A week had passed since the detention club had the sleepover at Ami's place, and similarly so, it had been a week since Apia assisted with the defeat of the massive nightmare assaulting the sleepover. It seemed a lot of the club had reaped serious benefits from the destruction, though Apia wasn't exactly sure what it did for her just yet. She felt like it made her stronger, certainly, but she didn't know how it made her stronger, exactly. Her speculation right now was that her paralytic poison acted quite faster, but she wasn't completely sure of that.

Regardless, there wasn't a club meeting today, which struck Apia as a little odd. She noticed Touka was straying away from the rest of the group, which Apia wasn't sure why. She didn't remember her being so apprehensive of the rest of the group. Maybe it was just a hard time for her. A family tragedy, perhaps? Apia wanted to inquire further, but doing so might only be annoying her and overstepping the boundaries she had, if it was true.

There was also the topic of Seyrun's presence. Apia wasn't sure if she trusted the girl just yet, though her mind wasn't out of malice or anything. Seyrun was just distant to the Hivemother, so there wasn't really any reason for Apia to trust (or distrust) the new arrival to the detention club. Within time, her opinion might change, but until then Apia wouldn't try to dirty the waters in the sea of a new ally.

All that aside, Apia sipped her smoothie in the shopping mall she was at. There wasn't a meeting today, and she could easily handle herself in a fight so she wasn't worried about that either. She just wanted to spend some time at the mall, looking for new cute clothes to surprise Hana with on their next date night. Maybe a nice new set of PJs so she could cuddle Hana in them? She was just gonna let the world decide that as she looked around the various stores.

For now, though, she had a smoothie, and she was gonna sit back and drink it.

Hot glow subsiding, the mirror went dark, reflecting on its surface the remains of a small Nightmare, scorched onto the surface of the alleyway. Breath sharply inhaling at the slight cold, Lumiere’s purple eyes titled upward to look at the sky lit by afternoon. Those eyes had never seen Nightmares in the daytime quite like this, and that discovery was both curious and disconcerting. Moon shaped mirror floating to her hand, the white robes around her fluttered in glow as they vanished, returning to a typical light gray sweatcoat and jeans. Holding her emblem, she put the small hand mirror into her coat pocket and sighed, glasses slipping off her nose slightly.

Returning to the road, Kohane took to the sidewalk, mind racing as the street was empty. She hadn’t been in Miso City long but aside from taking down the odd Nightmare she really hadn’t encountered much, nor had the opportunity to find anything, but at the same time she felt like she could easily draw attention to herself if she made the effort. But if there was any anxiety around that, it was certainly about the kind of attention she might draw. Maybe she’d just have to bite that bullet: encountering a local magical girl would help her find some kind of direction, she considered.

A wind blowing through making her shiver, she pulled up the hood of her coat, pushing her hands deeper into her pocket. This place was colder than she was used to in so many ways. She felt her heart fall as she realized she hadn’t had a positive human interaction since she got here. Turning her head back to look at the street behind her, this off road remained so very empty.

The lack of any follow up upon the events of the slumber party left Kanbaru feeling unsettled. A sentiment that must have been shared as Touka didn't bother to bring them together for a meeting as per the norm. Not that the bluenette could fault such actions, especially when the hunting was so poor ever since.

A few days of minimal Nightmare activity, and the tension was still mounting amid seeming tranquility.

The setting sun was met with the roar of an engine, the bluenette enjoying a ride on her motorcycle through the city. She had no destination in mind, seeking only to burn the nervous energy roiling beneath the skin. A part of that was from the surge of magic they all absorbed from the slumber party, but the majority was simply uncertainty.

"I wish things would settle down. Strength is nice and all, but not at the expense of our beauty sleep." The bluenette sighed, slumping forward as she idled at a red light. "Murder. Strangers. Bigger Nightmares. Feels like things are just spinning out of control..."

Tsuruga Deishuu

Her life had become a waking nightmare with no end in sight. Surely Tsuruga would have fallen into a bottomless pit of despair at the cruelty of reality if not for the reassuring presence of Kuro, the adorably transformed Mascot whose health and well being hinged upon Tsuruga keeping it together. Kuro shared in her torment, unable to shield herself from the madness that was having Ami live with her.

"My home. Ruined. A pigsty unfit for human habitation!" Tsuruga cried from the stoop of her home, a sleepy looking Kuro leaning against her to passively sap her warmth. It was a small comfort that the mascot was so easy to handle when Tsuruga's partner now defiled her home in the wake of the slumber party, and not for the first time did the dramatic young girl wonder if she'd be better off moving into the wreck of Ami's home. Sure, it was still winter and it had only half of its walls still standing, but she could clean up the rubble and make it tidy if nothing else.

"And I still think she was the one chewing my hair as we slept. There's no way it could be you, Kuro..."

"Time comes and goes by
The clock's hands stop for no one
We bear the fruits of the past as we look for a new tomorrow"

Seyrun looked distressed as she closed her notebook. The last words that she wrote hung in her mind while she contemplated the first blooming flowers of the year, sitting under a plum tree in the half-empty city park, with no one other than lone mascot claiming her lap as theirs.

Why did she get involved in this magical girl life? Or further still, why wasn't she able to contract and become one of them? These questions hurt her peace of mind and, even having one of those "Mascots" nearby only ever made her more nervous rather than calm.

"If only I--" she sighed inwardly, cutting her thoughts as she felt the first drops of what would be a cold, early spring drizzle hit her thigh.

As she packed her belongings and went back home, a strong wind blew by. Seyrun shivered as it chilled her to the bone...

Not too far from there.

This same cold wind, still carrying the smell of rain and plum flowers would blow by Kohane as she made her way down Miso City's lonesome streets.

More than that, it seemed as if a "presence", could be felt near her. It wasn't like a magical girl's aura, but neither was it like a Nightmare's either. Whatever was it that loomed over her was something different, something alien -- anathema to reality itself.

What interest could "it" even have in her?

Ami Murota

@Lonewolf685

Ami's wrath had been swift as she bopped all the club members on the head many times for the destruction of her home, yet her punishment was even swifter as she zeroed in on the person to cause the most visible destruction. Her own partner no less, wreaking havoc in her home as she shredded through the walls and all but insured she would never live there again. Her lip wobbled as she stared upon the broken remains of her home, eyes brimming over with tears as she stomped over to Tsuruga and glared at her as best she could. This lasted exactly three seconds as she began bawling and hitting Tsuruga's chest with her fists. "TSURUGA! YOU MADE ME HOMELESS!" The force of her cry shook the remainders of her home, causing another wall to collapse and in turn causing her wailing to become even louder as she took out her frustrations on her mean teammate. "I JUST WANTED TO HAVE A SLEEPOVER- hic- AND YOU GUYS ALL BROKE MY HOUSE- hic- AND NOW I'M GONNA HAVE TO LIVE WITH ALL THE HOBOOOOOOOS!" This tantrum continued for basically the whole night as the rest of the club awkwardly shuffled away, the only person left to deal with the aftermath of this being Tsuruga. What a start to a New Year.

This brings us to now, where Ami had forcefully extracted a promise from her amazing and beautiful partner to live with her for an undetermined amount of time. And of course the first thing she did was make herself at home, celebrating by throwing a forever sleepover housewarming party with Tsuruga and Kuro. It was a wild night to be sure, one that quickly set the status quo as it became evident just how Ami had done that to her home. Fortunately for Tsuruga the damage was manageable so long as dinner was made on a regular basis, otherwise Ami would take things into her own hands as she usually did and would order pizza. Lots of it. Ungodly amounts of pizza. It was around this time that Tsuruga came to the realization that Ami had no idea how to cook and had been living off of pizza and takeout for the past two years. "Tsu-chan! How much of the detergent stuff was I supposed to put in the machine? There's a bunch of bubbles and stuff coming out and it's still going!" Her laundry management would also need work.

Sleeping arrangements were handled quickly by Tsuruga when she offered Ami a spare futon, Ami then proceeded to promptly ignore these arrangements to share a bed with Kuro and Tsuruga at all times. There was no escape from the cuddling, not even when Tsuruga went to sleep after Ami passed out in her bed and took the spare futon. She just ended up waking up in the bed, buried under the combined weight of Ami and Kuro as Ami lightly chewed on her hair. Lavender flavored, super boring. Note to self, replace Tsu-chan shampoo with strawberry scented shampoo.

"Hey Tsu-chan! Are you supposed to separate the white stuff from the pink stuff?" Ami emerged from the house with an innocent smile on her face, covered in soapy foam and wearing very bright pink socks. "Also why are you sitting out here? It's like, super cold isn't it?"
