RE: SEASON ONE CRISIS - MASS PANIC

And with that, the Crisis is completed! Season One will continue for just a while longer while people post their individual epilogues but for the most part, it's resolved and over with. Special thank you to everyone who contributed to this Crisis through all its kinks and hold-ups. It has been a great learning experience for me as GM and I think we'll be able to make these go a bit more smoothly from now on.

For those who aren't caught up, I've compiled all of the posts directly relating to the Crisis together below:

"One last time, I need to fly"

If you put a splice of Angel's DNA under a microscope, you would see a genetically altered madman. Be that as it may, Warren Worthington III is one of the most underappreciated creations in comic books. Out of ten Marvel powerhouse movies, he has appeared in two different installments. He did not have speaking parts, at least no more than 15 minute screen time all together.

Angel is going to be agressive. He's going to have a drink of hard liquor. He's going to sail through the winds feeling unbelieveably awesome. He is to do what he he wants, too. It should not be misunderstood, he has battled guerilla terrorists, and he views them as nothing short of delusioned pieces of dirt. He will not be a terrorist. He may make you an enemy, but grudges are best kept in your therapist's file. He's also a womanizer.

If there was ever a world-quaking event in the singular universe, he would take sides with the team or group that spoke of freedom and diplomacy. Any battles that confront him, he would fight. Or, he would contact people he looked upon as suitable and poweful.

His grandfather upstarted a pharmacy outlet, which went big time over ten years. He earned his Ph.D in chemistry, and already had a college degree in Marketing. His son, Warren Worthington II, who is Angel's father, continued to run Worthington Industries and after fifty years the Worthingtons had billions. This could play a big part in my character's journey,

C H A R A C T E R M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S:

I want Angel to be miscellaneous. I spoke to an accepted player, and he brought up the fact that continuity could be a four letter word. Since Angel will be a liberal and conservative, and a loose antihero, he should be inclusive to the world.

I don't want him to be attached to any person or group. That would be a perference. But, if the world globally declared war, or some thing similar to a nuclear missile being launched, he would have to step up and fight for the greater good.

C H A R A C T E R N O T E S:

Alison Blaire was his gorgeous on-off girlfriend for a long time.
He has fought several Spider-Man characters, including Dr. Octopus.
Magneto is a friend, but Warren has strong opinions about the extermination of any body.

S A M P L E P O S T:

“I’ve taken my independence and revved it to level 5. I have witnessed so much and hurt so bad that I am ready to kill. Pushed to the act of murder? It could be.”

Warren’s exceptional prayer to the god was unusually short. He got off from his knees and rotated both his shoulders because they were some tight. He cracked his neck, too. He took a gander at his penthouse. The lamp had too many loose half-inch big ripped pieces of red colored fabric bottom trim. When he moved his eyes around he naturally tuned in and was alert to his environment, like the melted ice that had turned into a small splotch of water at the foot end base of the bed, it having decomposed from Warren getting drunk and tipping over some ice from the bucket . He did not suffer from hangover.

The safety horn cried out inside of the fireman’s station. Those who were on duty and assigned, that is by the NYFD, hurriedly thought and acted and were on their way out the door. They turned up the siren, and sped towards a head-on collision not only dispatched as on fire, but also there was someone reported trapped. They flew!

BUZZ! There was an intercom properly installed throughout the house, and it was for communication between the Angel and approved buzzers. “Hello?”

“I hope you are doing good this morning, Mr. Worthington. Today, it is 80 degrees outside, which is warm enough. . . “
“Sure, but what about that collision?”

“It was reported fifteen minutes ago on 8th and Academy. I hope they help those people, it really sends chills up my back to think of some one being deceased because of a text, or a call.”

“Yep. OK, I will speak to you later, Raymond.”

“Very well. Thank you.”

WORTHINGTON HQ
There are people every where. They're all dressed well and they all smell good and smile, perhaps some flirting or undressing someone with their eyes, pointing at the chubby numbers analyst staring hard through his glasses at the busty, black-haired young emo girl yapping on her smartphone. She definitely couldn't be a sacrifice. Jerry had seen her on an amateur Internet show.

Elsewhere, there was an executive going back and forth with a sports medicine specialist from the Food and Drug company. It was a multi-faceted, intelligent conversation, but the specially ranked doctor was going to have to pursue accelerated information from a WLabs scientist. Then, there were shots fired! The scramble to run, hide, and not spill your espresso was not completely unlike a John Travolta movie, except people were getting hit by AK-47 bullets, and it was a killing onslaught so god awful that whoever was doing it was going to answer for it with his life. If he didn't off himself with his fascinating, stable victims.

Shattered glass was everywhere. Some people were wounded, and others may have been dead. Of course, many people called the authorities.

WARREN'S PENTHOUSE/TRANSIT
Warren was through eating breakfast. it included a candy apple. Now, he was preparing to leave the nest and see what was going on in the world, soundly commerce, chemical engineering, and upscale mutant prostitute houses. He had on his designer dark wash denim jeans when his main cell phone paused him.

The call was urgent. It was about the shooting that took place an hour ago, and Warren had to double up and get fully dressed, then he logged on his computer for a few minutes to search the basics about the office shooter. He got it all, schizoid personality with depression. Finally, he raced to the elevator and jetted down to his Escalade. He started the car, and pulled out from a private parking spot that had a sign stating that the parking space was legally reserved for Warren Worthington III.

The news companies were at the scene. They were busier than ever. Their question they asked were about robbery, terrorism, anti-animal testing, and the works. One in particular documented two interviews with Warren, and she thought that this time she would get in big time when she saw the Cadillac truck driving into the debacle. Every one launched into a frenzy when he stopped and parked beside a fire hydrant, and opened the door and hit the deck. Out of all the questions and commends, Warren had a definitive comment: "I know someone come in and starting shooting my employees. That is all." He knew everything about the assailant from reviewing his records at his work computer at the penthouse.

He caught a break when city police pushed the reporters back. He thanked them, and they allowed to step into the building, but the presence of cops and more cops, and with the US Marshals on the way, Warren was was disconcerted. They did tell him that the man he knew as Jack Mannessy was actually a nine year old fugitive from Delaware prison. He underwent a trial, and was convicted of armed robbery, and acts of terrorism. Warren asked some questions to the police captain. How many were wounded, or shot, or traumatized. Were there any cracks in any of the network security infrastructure? Was there a thief motive? The captain didn't know, but this would amount to more capital crimes and probably death row. It would be, but Mr. Jack Mannessy was no longer alive.

Some days went by. It was a law suit, one after another Warren didn't mind. He only had a billion dollars, and a billion more. The US Marshals had explained everyrthing, all the way down to the type of bullet used in the shooting. He asked if there was anything that the federal government could help out with, lawyers or extra security. They provided information to civilian protection agencies, a bunch of ex-soldiers and SEALs. He was even offered a gun permit and a specially trained canine assistant who would go for the neck. Warren passed. It was an act of disgruntled, domestic work office terrorism. He would be okay.

"The proceedings today qualify that the involved claimants maintain soverignity over the assets that hereby will be dignified unless otherwise judged. The trial before the court must be thorough, documented propery, constitutional, and just. There will be no conditions that I am not made appointed to, because my court will be violated, and I will not be violated. Objections must be consistent with what is going on accordingly with the trial. Now, for the defense. You have offered every one of your opponent each $2,000,000?"
Well, Warren didn't know too many suburban families that couldn't use a couple million dollars, so he put the offer on the table. Out of the three organized thief clans, all of them took the deal. While the proceedings were handled, he had two cups of coffee. He had a taste for some liquor. He surveryed everything, including himself. He smiled because he was giving away six million dollars, and he wanted to get drunk. He recalled news that it was being legislatively argued, it was about whether people could sue company head figures due to the state of the country, business law, and terrorism.

His attorney that worked for Worthingon Labs earned a $100;000 bonus on top of his usual $250,000. Three days after a brief vacation to Washington, D.C., Abraham Washington pulled into the parking area in a new 2019 Mercedes Benz. And, a Switzerland crafted timepiece.

Warren had been running here and running there. He gave in to the reporters and conducted several interviews. They would not get pushy with him after they understood how belligerent he could act. But, his favorite thing to do was go to the beach and go crazy with his jet skis and floats, with his friends and associates. He picked everybody up. There was ten of them, and they were drinking. It was going to be awesome. So, they arrived in the concrete loading dock and unhooked three jet skis and Warren flirted with one of his friends. He made her laugh and move sexy, but it was only flirting.

It was one hour in. They slowed down drinking. Warren was sitting around with everybody. Suddenly, he had to use the restroom He walked away unnoticed. He walked away, and he had the urge: the urge to sail away. He had hid his wings with a huge life vest and a tailor made long sleeve shirt that he was wearing underneath the vest. He stripped it off.

He looked around, the coast was clear. So, he walked forward bearing a strong pace. His vision sharpended, reducing water production in his eyes, widening his eyes. He felt the surge, the energy, his shoulders being tugged on, his bare feet levitating from the ground, his back relaxinf, his abs tightening. He flew.

He was in the sky. He felt so good. He swinged his wings to and fro, and as he landed on his sky high path his wings sedated and he went into gliding. He loved the cruise. He could see people all over the beach. Suddenly, he twisted and spiraled up and down, feeling ferocious and good and having fun. He noticed a vendor, he believed it was hot dogs and chips. He had seen a kid not too old, so Warren dipped by the vendor and got a hot dog with mustard and ketchup, and flew it back to the boy. The kid's mom asked him if she had seen Warren before, but he said no and went on. He had a good time, but he returned to the spot where he had stripped and put back on his beach gear.

With his friends, he was a badass type of nice person, but to himself he was the Angel.

@role model First off, I appreciate all of the effort you put into your application and the time you took to amend it to try to meet my standards. That said, however, even with the newest sheet submitted, I don't think you'll be a good fit for this roleplay and won't be taking you on as a player.

The character sheet still fails to meet the standards I have for the game and displays a misunderstanding of the game's world and nuances. You've expressed frustrations and openly admitted to misunderstanding the game's concept and how the narrative works and this is still clearly evident in the sheet's current revisions. I do admire your eagerness and enthusiasm but with the amount of instruction you've required for the construction of the CS, I don't think you'll mesh with the rest of the player base nor be able to integrate yourself into the IC and the game's narrative.

Again, I thank you for your time and patience and I hope you find a more fitting roleplay! My apologies it didn't work out this time.

All the best.

I do not understand.

We can reimagine canons as it were them, and then we plot out our own stories which is like writing issues numbered one through three like distribution of comic books, and in deep enough we participate in crossover and world-affecting crisis. I mean shoot man, what exactly do I not understand?

Hey hun, I think this might have been a message for just Wraith? So just shoot him a PM.

S E A S O N O N E A W A R D S:

Best Character Concept:

When I started Absolute, I wanted to keep the game strictly to DC and Marvel properties. I didn't want to entertain other options too much. Then Hellboy came along, so I said it meshed well but it wasn't ground breaking. @Stein on the other hand challenged me by applying with a character I had never heard of from a franchise I certainly had never read. But Baal's concept I think stands out among 'alternate universe' concepts and I love the pitch towards his journey. We didn't see much of Baal this season but I'm hoping to see a lot more of him going forward because I love the idea of this character and the story that can be formed around him.

Honorable Mention: @Bounce with Old Man Grayson and Robin the Toy Wonder
Best Character Development:

When @Bounce first approached me with the pitch of Old Man Grayson and Robin the Toy Wonder, I was less than thrilled. But I'm glad I relented because the journey of Toyboy and Dick has actually been very enjoyable. Toyboy still creeps me out, but I can recognize that while on his path to learn to be a real boy, he's reminding Dick to do the same. The pair compliments each other in the way a Batman and Robin should so I'm definitely eager to see where this story goes.

Honorable Mention: @Hillan with Flash
Best Season:

I had previously tried to get the @The Bork Lazer to join Ultimate One Universe after noticing him lurking the thread and my profile. I'm certainly pleased that he opted to join this time around because Static has had one of the best Seasons. The way Shocker and Electrocutioner were both handled in this arc and their personal relationships with Virgil and those close to him made the stakes feel higher all the time. It was a very strong, interpersonal arc and I definitely think it's deserving of this award.

Honorable Mention: @HenryJonesJr with Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy
Best Story Arc:

That said, while I think Static had the best overall season, @Webboysurf did one hell of an arc with Captain America. The loss of Sharon, in the end, is a devastating blow for Steve and I can't help but feel he'd like to take a trip back in time to prevent that loss. None the less, it's a shame that Webb has opted to hang up the Star-Spangled tights because he did a fantastic job over his run.

Honorable Mention: @Star Lord with Wonder Woman
Best Post:

I have to give this one to @Hillan with this post. His Thawne is a constant joy to read. There's just something incredibly funny about this absolute sociopath playing hero because the time stream demands it. And there's no better post that illustrates Hillan in his groove than the one above.

Honorable Mention: @DocTachyon with Spider-Man
Best Antagonist:

I have to once again give it to @The Bork Lazer with the Electrocutioner and Ebon. Ebon especially didn't make much of a prescence this season but when he did show up, he stole the show. I'm looking forward to him coming more into the light in later arcs. Electrocutioner was an absolute delight to read and someone was taken from being more of a joke villain to be a serious threat for Virgil. As I noted above, the threat felt real with Lester and that's good enough for me.

Honorable Mention: @HenryJonesJr with Yondu, Drauga, and Mongul
Best Supporting Cast:

@DocTachyon hits it out of the park on this one. I always enjoy a post featuring Spider-Man and Friends. Whether it's Gwen, MJ, Harry or even JJJ, Doc's characterization of each character shines through and stands on its own. They're all fully fleshed out, three-dimensional characters. Gwen isn't just there to be the love interest, Harry isn't just the rich best friend. They could easily stand-in for Peter as the primary point of view and I love it.

Honorable Mention: @Hound55 with Blue Beetle
Best World Building:

This one was tough because a lot of you picked your corners and built a house around them. But @Retired went just that tad bit further with his Titans. From the get-go, he began to make connections outside of his story. From Kitty having connections to Overwatch to Eli being connected to Captain America, Retired went that little bit further and connected himself to the greater world while also adding significantly to the game's Metahuman lore and even a little bit of the Cosmic with Starfire.

Honorable Mention: @Star Lord with Wonder Woman
Best Crossover:

I have to give it to @DocTachyon and @Hound55 here. The Expo crossover with Ted, Harry and Peter was one of my favourites to read. Sometimes I find crossovers can feel forced like they're trying to enact a certain status quo, but this one was natural. It was awesome to see Peter geeking out over talking to Ted Kord while Ted himself was an absolute delight for both of the teens. I definitely am looking forward to seeing more crossovers like this in the future.

Honorable Mention: @Star Lord and @Webboysurf with Captain America and Wonder Woman
The Absolute Breakout Character:

This was tough because a lot of people surprised me but none more so than @Natty with Magik. I knew literally nothing about Magik when Natty applied and she's easily become one of my favourite reads. Natty was also a huge asset towards resolving the Crisis in Star City so for that I definitely can't thank you enough. Given the character develop there and the new Season Two sheet, I'm really excited to see where Magik goes from here.

Honorable Mention: @Hound55 with Blue Beetle
The Absolute MVP Award:

It is with sincere appreciation that I would like to acknowledge @Hound55 as my Season One MVP. The Crisis would never have been resolved without Hound, he always has an ear open to listen and bounce ideas off of and he's always open to working with other players. Hound is an absolute delight to write with and I definitely can't thank him enough for his contributions to this Season and hopefully many more.

Honorable Mention: @webboysurf for his contributions to the IC

And with that, Magik's season is complete. Writing this character has been an absolute joy, and I can't wait to take her further in season 2. I'll write up a quick season summary at one point over the next few days to go in my Season 2 CS and then get to work on continuing!

A N N O U N C E M E N T:

RE: SEASON TWO - THE MONSTER WITHIN ROADMAP

Good morning Vietnam! Absolute Comics!

As some of you may have already seen, I've posted the Season Two opener to kick off the new season and allow those of you who have been patiently waiting in the wings to begin posting. This does not prevent anyone who wants to wrap up their Season One with an epilogue from doing so, nor does it prevent anyone who isn't working by the 'Season' model from continuing their story in its current timeframe.

That said, there is a time skip of two to three months associated with the Season Two Opener. This time skip needs only be acknowledged if your stories already have an established point of reference and of course if you're directly referencing any events such as the creation of the Department of Metahuman Affairs. Otherwise, feel free to ignore the time skip or use it for your own means. Time is pretty wishy-washy in these style of games due to individual arc pacing so don't feel obligated to be a slave to it by any means.

The plan is for Season Two to run from now until the end of February 2020. This extended timeframe should accommodate for any hiccups caused by the numerous holidays between now and then including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. So plan your arcs accordingly. Learning from Season One, any Crisis events will be accompanied by an OOC post that both explains the situation and includes a list of objectives and suggestions towards which interested parties would be best suited for those goals. I found by providing objectives it gave players a clearer sense of direction but as a bit of a public service announcement, you don't need to treat the objectives as a 'to-do list'. It's preferred that objectives aren't all accomplished by one individual. Let others have some fun.

The Season One epilogue and Season Two opener teased at least two significant foes and both will be dealt with over the course of the season. What this means for you as a player is that I am aiming to have a mid-Season Crisis. It won't be as grand in scope as the Season end but ideally, we'll have two group events this Season.

Applications for Season Two will be accepted until November 30th, 2019. After this point, I'm going to close the game to new parties until mid-February when we'll begin recruiting for Season Three. The reasoning behind this is that I feel there's a lot of pressure on people who join late in the game and it doesn't allow them the time to properly integrate into the world. Not only that but when current players at in the middle of an arc, it's difficult to reject new players who might be applying as NPCs or other supporting cast members.

Weekly Post Check-Ins will return next Monday! Players who have not posted within seven days will be tagged and gently reminded that they are obligated to post once within every fourteen-day period. If in fourteen days you still have not posted, you will receive a second gentle reminder that you are now overdue for a post. At the twenty-one day mark, that player and their character will be moved to the Inactive listing on the roster and their character will be eligible for application by any prospective player. Players who have been moved to inactive will have to re-apply before resuming posting and will be on probation for three weeks. If they are tagged twice on the Weekly Check-In during their probationary period they will be removed from the game and unable to reapply until the following season.

Which leads me to my final point. Each Season you get a clean slate! If you had been previously removed from the game, I'm willing to give you another chance, within reason. If you've been removed from multiple seasons then, no. You're simply abusing my olive branch. But if you had a rough go one season and something happened, then give it another go! Everyone deserves a second chance.

I think that's it from me for now. Any questions regarding this Season or the game, in general, feel free to post them here in the OOC. In fact, for broad questions, I would prefer them to be posted in the OOC so they aren't buried in the Discord. Questions regarding team-ups, crossovers and cameos you can, however, message me directly or in the Discord.

Thank you to everyone for your continued participation and looking forward to another Season of Absolute with both our returning players and newcomers.

So, as I previously stated, I felt that including the submissions for Best Post and Best Crossover during my awards post would be an error, especially when I posted those awards on the eve of the crisis. Now, that the crisis is over. I feel that I can fully express what I feel are the best ones. I'll be including no runner up as I feel like these are the most prestigious awards that fully encapsulate two aspects of role-playing: collaboration and story-telling. When I say that I do not give out these awards lightly, I am stating that with the fullest of intents.

Now, without adieu, let us begin.

◼ BEST POST: @DocTachyon Spider Man: Issue 5

What makes a great post to me isn't the big battles, finales that blow your socks off, massive door-stoppers, massive twists or includes massive amounts of worldbuilding. The best posts for me are concise, tight, with conviction and a sense of purpose for what they want to achieve as a part of their respective character's story arcs. Posts, to me, are like sandwiches. Or burgers. Or whatever food analogy you want to use to represent a sense of order. Without a doubt, DocTachyon's Issue 5 post of his Spider Man series was the one post that always stood out to me whenever I thought about this RP.

Of course, all of DocTachyon's posts about Spider Man are excellent but this post really gels with me. The dialogue between Uncle Ben and Peter is the best dialogue that I've have seen on this site. Period. It might not seem impressive but god, this is what I would imagine if I was watching Spectacular Spider Man or the Sam Raimi movies for the first time ever. Peter's internal monologue that reflects his state of anxiety, Ben's mannerisms, the hidden conflict between the both of them. It highlights the ramifications of Peter's actions and every role-player on this site can learn a thing or two about cause and effect from this post.

It's not the most epic of posts by any means, but I think it's a solid post all around that is compact and brimming with purpose.

◼ BEST CROSSOVER: @DocTachyon and @Hound55 Blue Beetle and Spider Man

There haven't been a lot of crossovers this season compared to other games that I've witnessed which have the same formula and concept. However, I think no one will disagree when I say that Doc and Hound have created a quite unorthodox pair that I wouldn't have imagined working together. They were the engine of the crisis and a great part in ensuring that it kept trucking along, whilst also being the core of interaction within the crisis as a whole. It was a great pleasure to witness Spider Man and Blue Beetle bounce off each other like the great smart-talking insect-themed heroes that they are.

Now, time to write up my Season 2 posts.......

So I took a night to think about this entire issue and I can't fathom how you could have posted that message in the first place. You knew it was offensive, and yes I'm at fault for not responding earlier but there's no way that post should ever have made it into the OOC thread. So I'm sorry to say, but I'm officially removing you from the game. Don't know if anyone was holding their breath for my character contribution (doubt it) but I'd just like to politely rescind my interest. The other new character pitches seem to be struggling with integrating into the established world, which is something I know I would struggle with, and I don't think I'm in the right headspace to chew through the amount of established story and other characters that currently exist. Not to mention the completely indecipherable interpersonal drama that seems to be unfolding, which I can't say is a turn-on.

Sorry for the bother, best of luck with Season 2.
