Soul Society

7th March 1867 A.D

The Seiretei is Currently Under Attack

The smoke was thick, weighing down on all who dared linger within its toxic haze. It seemed never ending; it blotted out the sun, and accompanied the burning inferno that engulfed all in sight, forcing the wooden frames to crackle and splinter the flames. All around, once strong buildings gave a groan before crashing into rubble; spilling out onto the streets, or collapsing in on themselves, and causing sparks to fly upwards, catching the wind and creating new fires throughout the Seiretei, painting the sky behind the smoke orange.

A sharp clang of metal against metal rang out above the roar of the blaze, bloodshed and fighting war came hand in hand with such destruction, and while the sound of battle rang out, screams of Shinigami followed, Zanpakuto tore through flesh and bone, causing blood to paint the nearby ground and walls. For a moment, if one closed their eyes, that was all they heard; there was no peace to be found in such a place, and shutting it out for a moment of silence was impossible. However, if one made the mistake of shutting their eyes long enough, they’d surely find silence in the sweet embrace of death, for the enemy were everywhere. Friends fought friends, family stabbed one another in the back, comrades turned on comrades, all for what they thought was right.

But what good could come from such bloodshed.

How had such a grim scene come to be?

How could Shinigami turn on their own? Divisions fighting within themselves, Captain against Captain… and for what? For what reason was blood shed so needlessly.

It was for a single man his mission.

His mission to become the new King.

Division 1 Barracks

Atop the 1st Divisions barracks, through the thick smoke, the silhouette of a man stood, only lit up by the rising flames behind him, his face occasionally being lit as the flames licked around his form. The Head Captain himself, a small grin upon his features. For years he’d been silently working away at his plan, recruiting loyal followers to his side in the shadows through manipulation and lies - promises to fulfill their greed, simply so he could turn them on one another. His recruits blindly followed him, even to their deaths, which was exactly they would all meet. Through chess board planning, the Head Captain had assembled a strong enough force to combat itself. He knew exactly who would side with him and who would not, it had taken many years, mysterious deaths, promotions, demotions, nurturing… it had taken his all - and as he watched over the scene before him, he knew it had been worth it.

He'd needed only target five other Captains, for their Squads would blindly follow, regardless of their own beliefs... and if they didn't they'd be cut down. Fear was the tool that had made most comply; if they were to disobey their Captains, they'd be killed and if they tried to join the resistance, they'd be deemed a liar and be cut down. Fear was truly a funny thing - it could make a person act in ways they never would rationally, it could make them do awful things to their fellow Shinigami. A world living in fear was not a part of the Head Captains ideal vision he had for the world, however; he wanted there to be only peace. No more needless bloodshed, after thousands of years of death and war. But he knew that to pave the road to peace, there needed to be blood; a final war.

Alone he could not do this. Had he started this alone he'd be helpless to resist the strength of twelve other Captains, backed by their Lieutenants and then their entire divisions. He'd have died in no time; but pitting them against one another however, well, the grisly scene before him spoke for itself. Not one sacrifice. however, was in vain, to him. He truly believed he was creating a better world… a better future. But as we all know, there can be no gain without first, sacrifice.

"Do you hear me?"

"Yes..."

"Good. It is time, time for this to all end"

"I understand my Lord"

"They will not harm you...I'll make sure of it personally"

"My Lord, you needn't waste your strength on me, I'm but a small piece in this game"

"No...this is not a game, everything is valuable to me and your service will not end on this day. Simply trust in me"

"Absolutely my Lord..."

"Also...do make sure he doesn't die, but allow him what he wishes..."

"Understood..."

Atop the 1st Division barracks

Smoke and fire continued to engulf everything before it, even the 1st Division barracks were not safe from the fires that blazed throughout the Seireitei. The Head Captain continued to look over his work as a figure appeared in the smoke behind him, it's form becoming more clear as it's steps got closer to him, until they suddenly stopped and a womanly voice uttered a single word "Sir..." The figure took a knee and bowed their head to the Head Captain, the smoke still obscuring their appearance. The Head Captain hadn't moved a muscle as a large explosion not to far from them cast light upon the rooftop revealing the Head Captains face.

His name was Masaru Owari, he'd been the Head Captain for about "A thousand years..." The lady still engulfed in smoke behind him, lifted her head "S-Sir?" A small grin made it's way onto the Head Captains face as he let out a sigh and looked up at the smoke filled night sky "I've been the Head Captain for a thousand years and this night it will all end and they will come for me..." The Head Captain then turned to face the woman, brushing away the smoke with a simple swipe of his right hand revealing her appearance also.

The Head Captains eyes met hers as he spoke "My dear Lieutenant, Itsumi Yukanna, how I've enjoyed having you work alongside me...there is none other I'd have rather spent those thousand years with." Itsumi looked up at her Captain, her eyes looking a little shaky before she lowered her head quickly "It's been my pleasure to serve under you sir...but...but" She tried to choke back the tears as a lump caught her throat and stopped her words. The Head Captain let out a little chuckle as he crouched down and lifted her head gently with his right hand, her chin gently resting on his hand as he looked into her tearful eyes "Everything must end...but this will be the beginning of something new. Now...don't let others see you like this, you'll need to be strong for the future to come" The Head Captain then wiped the tears from her cheeks then stood upright.

"Remember what I said. No matter what happens, you are not to come to my aid, if you must, cut me down. You're important to the future of this place..." The Head Captain then turned his back to Itsumi and looked out into the distance again "But Sir...why does it have to be this way?" The Head Captain then took a shallow look over his right shoulder and spoke "You remember our duty as Shinigami right?" Itsumi nodded to her Captain as he then continued to speak "We're supposed to keep the balance of the worlds...and yet" the Head Captain looked out into the distance "How many of them would willingly give their lives for the sake of Balance?...Our worlds are on the verge of destruction but you'd barely notice it. We could continue to kill hollow but in truth there simply isn't enough left for us to kill and so rather than sacrifice the lives of those innocent souls out there in the Rukongai, I chose to sacrifice the lives of our own...the Shinigami and Gotei 13 will survive this night, this is merely the beginning of something"

The Head Captain then looked to the sky once again "And the end of something..." Itsumi's eyes widened and her face turned to that of horror as she realised what it was that her Captain was looking at "S-Sir you can't! we will all die! you will die!...Y-You're strong Sir but...how can you fight that!?" The Head Captain chuckled "I'm well aware...but higher powers call out to me and I cannot deny them. This is what I enlisted for all those millennia ago...I had hoped it wouldn't of hurt so much but" the Head Captain sighed "There will be done. Mark my words Itsumi...I will not ever get the chance to see it's face, but once it realises why this is happening then my former friends will come for me."

Itsumi's head went low again as she struggled to truly understand why her Captain was going into a battle he knew he'd lose, then darkness crept over her mind, it sounded like a million screams inside of her head and then there was silence as an echoey voice entered her mind and spoke to her "He...will...live..." The darkness then left her mind as she began to pant, it felt as if for a moment her very being was going to be torn apart...she then looked up to see her Captain looking at her "Hm..." Itsumi began to perhaps understand what was happening here, was this what her Captain was speaking about? She felt a chill throughout her body thinking about that voice but she couldn't help but trust it.

???

Sat in a darkened room, a man sat on a throne with his left elbow resting on it's arm, his head resting on his left hand as he sat with his right leg resting ontop of his left. His face and torso were impossible to see but his piercing blue eyes tore through the darkness as he opened them "So it's to be like this...Perhaps I was foolish to have thought he'd stay in his prison. It seems as if there is almost no hope for them...even still I do cherish them so." The man then let out a sigh "Prepare two of my best...they should be more than enough to free that poor corrupted soul..." The one man kneeling before him nodded and without a word moved to execute his orders, leaving only that man in the room "Why must we continue these games?...did you not learn your lesson last time?, You will not defeat me, that I assure you..." the room then suddenly turned pitch black as a smokey red figure appeared before the man "You're...doomed..." The man in the throne slammed his right fist down onto the arm of his chair and cleared the room instantly along with the figure. Then he spoke in a slightly irritated voice "Not a chance...I'll play your silly little game, just so I can humiliate you again!"

Running through the pathways outside of his barracks, Taro was searching for some semblance of reason. Plumes of black smoke filled the night sky with an inky rash and at their base the fires that fueled them emitted a frenzied glow. A thunderous crack exploded into the alleyway not five feet from where he stood, boring a hole into its left wall. Taro could only shield himself from the blast, batting away chunks of brink and plaster. He soon sped towards the hole, seeing another Shinigami crawling out from under the rubble. Jumping to his aid, Taro wrapped the mans arm around his shoulder to bring him to his feet.
"Go! get to safety" He didn't truly know where safety was but there wasn't time nor mind to ponder it. "What the hell is going on..." he muttered to himself, not sure of which way to turn. He could feel so many spiritual pressures at once that he could barely single one out, yet his attention was quickly caught by the sound of clashing blades. "The barracks gate!" Leaping into the air Taro skipped from wall to wall, his wooden sandals clacking upon each impact.

His billowing kosode flapped in the rush of air before settling with a thud as Taro arrived. The gates Honden stood above its surroundings, the bright Tenné colour signaling its locale to the area. Taro could hear voices, interspersed with several clangs of steel. As he scanned the space for movement, his eyesight focused on a figure passing through the gates aperture. He sighed in relief, recognizing the man as his captain, Mizushima. Taro let go of his swords hilt, allowing the cold air to chill his sweaty palms. There was something amiss. Staggering backwards the full extent of Mizushima's condition came to light. He was visibly wounded, the usual snowy white of the captains haori was blotched with blood and overflowed in places so badly that it had begun to pool on the tiled floor below. Everything got quiet. Taro could only watch as Mizushima strived to stay upright. In a sudden movement, a blade caught the light, forcing a flinch out of Taro as he witnessed his captain yield to a mortal blow.

Instinct took over. He drew his Zanpakuto, and charged forward with an sturdy cry. Vaulting to his mentors aid, Taro turned to face the gate, ready to take on any and all assailants. But he could only spot the silhouette, springing above the barracks arched canopy as they departed. Taro grimaced at the sight, highlighting his rugged features.
"Captain!" as it dropped, the metallic skid of his sword was followed by a panicked pant. "W-Who did this!? You're a captain, who has that kind of power!" the dying man still held his Zanpakuto, in its released form it was an angular sickle with an elongated haft still loosely clasped in his ash-laden hand. With what he could muster, Mizushima raised his hand and placed it by Taro's heart.

"That's not important now, Taro." he did well to fight off the spluttering cough building in his throat. "What is, is that you become what you were meant to be." he gave an honest smile, curling the corner of his mouth in a regret he owned. His hand fell into Taro's, passing his last gesture to him before his reign ended.

"Captain..." a solemn reality deadened Taro's face. And as his hand fell away, it revealed the armband of a seated position in squad nine. Taro climbed to his feet, a single tear dampening the armbands tightly woven fabric. It was in this moment that Taro made a promise to himself, and among the anarchy, managed to crack a smile in remembrance for his teacher. Taro began to remove Mizushima's haori, brushing dirt from the insignia imprinted to its back. He carefully laid it over captain Jiro, and in one last subdued moment, said his goodbye.

Reaching across he plucked Mizushima's Zanpakuto from his grip, as well as his own sword still laid behind him. Not knowing who or what to seek out, Taro began to wander away, further into the pandemonium that had engulfed the Seireitei.

Okirigae Mosumi

TL-DR: As Third Seat Okirgae Mosumi arrived back from a mission, she found herself in the midst of chaos. Leaving her squad mates to make it back to the barracks on their own, she sped ahead in search of her Captain, Matsurada Kenpachi, and her Lieutenant, Haruzato Tozuko. Arriving at the barracks of the 11th, she found it had been blown up, with division mates stabbed to the walls with their own Zanpakuto. Finding a dying comrade, he informed her it had been Matsurada's doing. In a rage, she swiftly found her Lieutenant and Captain fighting deep in the woods of Seireitti. Stopping them at first, it quickly became her and the Lieutenant versus her Captain after he confirmed he was responsible for slaughtering the division. In an intense fight, the battle slowly became a fight for survival as her and her Lt narrowly escaped his onslaught. Until it came to a head, and the Lt was injured, forcing Okirigae to take on her Captain like countless times before. Seemingly getting a second wing, it seemed the battle might start to shift, until Okirigae had pushed the man to be serious. In one move, he sent an attack that would have obliterated the girl. And in its wake, her Lieutenant stood, Matsurada's blade logged in the womans body. Without even able to get a few dying words, the woman bursted into a golden mist. Further enraging Okirigae, she formed her Shikai, and fought her Captain with a new resolve, to avenge her division. In a grandiose battle, she held her own, but once again, the man seemed to pull from his infinite pool of strength and caught the girl, sending her flying into 10th Division's barracks.

It was there that Mitsue Kurotuo found her, broken and lifeless at first. In her inner world her Zanpakuto, Basaka-Quinu, gave her the opportunity to get stronger but at the cost of not being able to control it. Deciding it was worth it if it would give her the chance of beating Matsurada, she pulled a blade from the Zanpakuto's neck and was allowed access to her Bankai. Seeing her Bankai activate, he could feel the raw power coming from the girl. Matsurada arriving, Mitsue drew his blade, attempting to aid in her fight against the Captain. Matsurada amused by this, sent Okirigae flying, allowing him to fight the man one on one. And though for a short time, Mitsue showed through pure skill, he was not a target Matsurada could simply bulldoze. Deciding he was bored, he used the same move that his Lieutenant was killed by, Mitsue coming to a close end. However in similar fashion, Okirigae had blocked the mans attack, it only cutting a few inches deep into her shoulder. Saving the man, she thanked him before taking Matsurada away and placing them back where the battle had started. Noticing the girl struggled controlling her Bankai, he formed his similarly unstable bankai and declared the battle would be declared in one move. Calling out their attacks, they ran at each other, the earth around them literally exploding off the ground. It was then that Matsurada could feel he would win this fight, each step remembering Okirigae's life from his prospective. As their blades neared collision, the man held back at the last seconds, sealing his fate as their blades clashed. Locked in this clash, their arms snaked with burns coming from their Zanpakuto hilts, before Matsurada's Bankai began to shatter, before fulling throwing the man out of his Bankai. Still stuck in their clash, his Zanpakuto shattered, letting Okirigae's move cut through his torso. Falling to his knees, his blade shattered into thousands of shards in front of him, instead of blood coming form his wound, a black sludge began to engulf his body. Effects from Okirigae's move, the man was destined to become a black statue, giving her final words and telling her the title of Kenpachi was hers. She only became more upset, knowing the man held back at the last seconds to let her win. In his final moments, he ordered her to clean up Division 11 and restore honor to the division. Feeling sorrow beyond anything she had ever felt before, mixing with her unstable Bankai, she held her head in pain as her Bankai seemed to rip up the ground around her and her Captain. Losing her mentors, the destruction of of her division, all of this chaos finally broke the girl.

With no time to waste, Mitsue made his way to the next barrack over. Hopefully Taro was in better spirits than Mitsue was or at least in cleaner clothes. Looking down at his clothes he was covered in blood, he wasn’t sure whose blood it was anymore besides the pasty red stain on his shirt that belonged to Okirigae. The knot in his stomach only tightened as his mind began to process everything going on, from the beginning when he stepped outside to now where everything was going to hell. Where was his captain? Was he going to turn on the rest of the divisions just as Matsurada did? In any event he needed answers and assurance that Taro had some. “Ta—” he said getting cut short as he looked up and crashed into a behemoth of a man the size and density of a fucking boulder.
--

“Mitsue...” the familiarity of a friend gave Taro a brief moment of respite. He had been wandering for a while, not sure which direction to take, but like a light in the dark Mitsue had appeared. “What’s happening?! Who is attacking us? I didn’t see who it was but someone…” the lump in his throat stopped him as his head caught up with his mouth. “Captain Mizushima. He...he’s dead.” Taro couldn't help but hang his head at the admission, almost saying it to himself as much as Mitsue.

--

Recoiling in pain he tried to make sense of the bells ringing in his head. Looking for some kind of joke to make he was stopped short having heard what Taro just said. Nothing turned his blood colder than that of what was just recanted. The knot in his stomach was so taut at this point he could feel the saliva in his mouth turn hot and his need to purge coming up his esophagus. What was happening? One captain dead another turning his back on the rest. Taro the usually friendly and unwavering giant hung his head solemnly. Knowing he had to be the stronger one of the two he raised a hand and rested it on the giants shoulder. “I’m..I’m sorry to hear that. We’ll make it up to him soon enough. Matsurada has betrayed us and Haruzato is dead. We need to save Okirigae”

--

“What!?” Taro hesitated, he was so drained by what had happened earlier that he hadn’t even stopped to think about other casualties. “Let’s go!” Taro drew his Zanpakuto and the pair raced towards the eleventh division barracks.

--

Before the mountain could take off fully, the hand resting on his shoulder pulled on the collar as if Mitsue had enough strength to stop the hulk of a man. “Waitttt there’s a faster way. I planted a prism on her so I just need you to hold my feet and yank me once I give you the thumbs up okay?” He reaches into his pocket and shot his prism out as it formed s circular mirror revealing Okirigae. Putting his head and one arm into the portal he grabbed Kiri’s arm, “don’t mind me” he said as semi levitating head.

--

Taro stood there blinking for a few moments before his face widened in a determined smile. This was something he could do. Crashing his palms onto Mitsue’s back he grasped clumps of his Shihakusho and with a gleeful delight he heaved his friend backwards with a force much more than needed.

--

Personally Mitsue found some sick delight in being pulled like a rag doll by Taro, it was the silver linings that mattered in moments like these. He had barely just gave Taro the thumbs up before he was yanked back faster than he was prepared for. Tumbling back out the portal closed and the prisms attached to Kiri and Mitsue has both vanished. “Let’s do it again” he said with a devilish smile.

--

Okirigae felt a hand on her arm, turning her head, she was swiftly pulled from the statue of Matsurada and came tumbling out in front of the two shinigami that had “saved” her. “Kill them…” a voice rang deep from within her. Looking at the two, Taro and Mitsu would feel the ground underneath them start to shift. Stepping forward the girl attempted to flash step towards the two, before her wound left from Matsurada sprayed from the stress she was giving on her body. She had lost too much blood and was thrown out of the technique, barreling unconscious towards Taro.

--

Holding his hands up Taro braced himself for the impact. A quick thud followed before he peeked from behind closed eyes, seeing a slight Okirigae squished against his torso as if she fell into a wall. “Oh.” he managed to mumble before he had to catch her fall. Scooping up her legs he held her in his large arms and looked at Mitsue blankly “Where do we go?”

--

Mitsue clenched the hilt of his sword ready for yet another skirmish with this warrior woman. It wasn’t until she knocked into and fell into Taro’s embrace like a cradled baby did he loosen his grip and took a sigh of relief. “For now we need her to the fourth division and get her treated. The captain there is probably dead or worse so we must be wary. You’ll have to stay with her while I go look for mine. And Taro, if I don’t come back don’t look for me, you’ll know if this prism breaks” Mitsue said handing him a prism filled with a flame of reishi inside before taking off towards the infirmary.

--

Taro gave an affirmative nod and he allowed Mitsue to tuck the prism in his Obi sash. He watched his friend runoff in the direction of the tenth squad before looking down at the unconscious Okirigae. “Let's get you to division four! They’ll tend to your wounds and get you back on your feet.” He swung her around in his grasp, resting her over his shoulder so he could run at pace and escape this confounding situation. Taro hoped answers would follow.

The World A Thoroughly Unlikable Person

Nine Shinigami stood inside the Squad 5 barracks, eight facing one. The time had finally come for them to remove the annoying show-off who had betrayed their Captain. Shion stood alone as the others attacked one by one, each doing significant damage, though she gave as good as she got. The rest of those who stood with the Lieutenant were off fighting in a bigger battle; there was nobody to save her as the other Soul Reapers continued their assault.

Finally, Shion fell to the ground, her wounds overtaking her. Damn... I guess this is it then... Looks like I couldn't save the Captain after all...

Suddenly, she heard a voice like static inside her head. D̷̡̧͢͝o͢͟͏ ̡͢͝y҉͏ó͜͡ų̶.̷̵̢̛͏.͏͏̛́.̶͝ ̶̶́҉w҉͘͠͏i̴̛͝s͏̢h̷̛͠ ̛́t̸o̸̵͘͜͟ ̶̢͢l̴̛̀͢͡í̷͞v̧̧͜͠҉e̶?҉

What? What was that voice? Did she wish to live? What kind of question is that? Of course I do! I have to bring the Captain back! I have to survive!

The static came again. T͜͟͟͏ḩ̨͝͏è͠n͞͏͏̸͟ ̸̀c̷̕͡͞a̸͘͜͜l̛l͢͞͏̀͘.̸́͝.̡̢͟͢.̶̸́͜ ̀m̷̡̡̛҉y͟҉̢͞ ̛҉ņ̴a͏m̵̛̛͘͡e̴̡̨.̴̢̧͟.͏̷̕͢.͏̀

Something in Shion's mind clicked and she slowly raised herself up, supporting her weight with her Zanpakuto. The others simply laughed, what was the point in continuing fighting? They'd simply crush her and move on to the next batch. If they kept together and fought enemies one by one, they'd be able to beat even seated members if they were careful. Shion's voice came harsh and forced. "Flash." In an instant she disappeared, even her spiritual presence was gone. "Kireikage." Her voice came from behind the furthest away Reaper, who suddenly fell over as Shion's presence was sensed by the other seven. She had moved so fast that she had practically disappeared! How was that even possible!?

As soon as the sensation of her presence appeared, it disappeared again along with Shion herself, only to once again reappear behind one of the other Shinigami. With a singular stab to the heart, she fell down as well. Shion quickly dispatched of the rest in a similar manner before falling to the ground herself, exhausted. The earlier fight had drained her stamina and she needed to rest. But as soon as she recovered, she was going to find the Captain and bring her back to the side of the Seireitei, she swore it.

After resting for a few minutes, she stood up and began walking towards the sound of the nearest battle. By the end of the night, she'd have claimed the lives of 51 of her fellow Soul Reapers in a similar fashion, most of which were from her own squad.

Myako Arashi

Myako was sitting in her room. Her eyes were closed, her legs were crossed as she was meditating there. She couldn't sense the outside... her mind was elsewhere at first. In a distant world in the middle of the void where seh was spending a lot of her free time in secret under the pretense she was just meditating to train her reiatsu and understanding of her zampakuto. Suddenly her eyes flashed open though. Just in time as Kido impacted door of her room and her eyes sharpened as she also sensed something was up finally, but... she couldn't get a spec of reiatsu sense outside. What was going on!?

As her door was broken open, she saw a number of the shinigami from her squad charge at her with weapons drawn and she didn't take kindly to such betrayal. Her body flickered from her position as she appeared behind htem and slowly sheathed her weapon, the few low leveled shinigami that had the gall to attack their own lieutenant fell as logs on the floor, not even realizing what had transpired. The moment she stepped outside her room, suddenly she felt the grander picture and understood vaguely what was happening. People were battling everywhere... She knew something was stirring, but didn't quite expect it to be this big! At that moment she felt a familiar presence vanish. Her heart froze as she looked in the direction of the other side of the barracks and rapidly moved there, only to see a scene that made her nearly lose it.

"Sorry, you should have checked your loyalties. I'm the captain, you fools. Should have listened to me, not that woman." A guy with a white overcloth, said as he gesture to two shinigami to finish of a very young pair also wearing the uniform of the squad.

"SCREW YOU!" The boy of the pair replied without fear despite hte captain level pressure and his innability to actually move even a little as the former first lieutenant of the squad cut him down! He felt satisfied, finally getting his revenge on that woman just a bit, but he realized that his weapon had not actually felt resistance just now and looked at the ground where the two kids he tried to kill were actually not there anymore.

"Ahh... Was hoping the spell would have kept you out of this until the entire barracks were dealt with." The captain mentioned as he was gazing into the darkness. There was an area of darkness, hidden by the shadows that he had felt her presence." Seemed I underestimated your perception... or did someone break the spell by attacking you?" He asked, but didnt recieve an answer.

As he was about say something else, suddenly two things flew out of the shadows, like demonic snakes they bend in the air, flying at extreme speeds as they wrapped the former first lieutenant. one across his legs and one around his neck, strangling him before he could even call out the name of his weapon." I thought you were up to something..." Myako's voice came from the darkness as she stepped away from it, the two basically children behind her were alive, her having rescued them at the last moment. They were her two little informers and also charges in the squad, she had taken a liking to them since the moment htey joined and took care of them." Who would have thought you would have rebelled... or rather you and so many others... I can feel the chaos across the entire Seiretei." Myako said and with a mighty swing of her arms, the chains that were strangling and holding down the shinigami she had attacked earlier came to life as they pulled in two separate directions, tearing him into 3 pieces, she was ruthless and this was the first definite sign that the captain got that she was stronger than she let out others to believe.

"I will kill you now, you know?" He asked with a shrug as he pulled his weapon and called out it's name, summining his shikai. As he put his spirit pressure and captain grade presence to supress her, he found that it wasn't really working." What... just how much did you hide from us all?" He asked as he abandoned the fancy ideas and directly summoned his bankai to finish her off. He couldn't waste time here for too long. The rest of his goons were already gathering at the location, most of the squad having joined him. His bankai was a huge hammer, focusing on heavy strikes. As he flash stepped in front of her and swug down to kill her, her reiatsu surged as she flashed away and appeared behind him with seemingly great ease.

"Fool... let me show you what I can do... WE will enjoy hunting you." Myako smiled as her chains spun in her hands for a moment."BANKAI!" She shouted as the chains started to tremble and her reiatsu surged. Blankness envelopped her and spread all around her, swallowing everything in it's path. This was the color of her reiatsu, pure simple black. No fancy shades or touches into it like red or gold. It was pure and simple black."Ryōshi Fukami-rensa!"

"You..." Her captain spoke out, but before he finished her realized, something was off. The chains were gone. In fact she appeared like she was unarmed. He knew she'd never leave herself unarmed and she had shouted bankai. He had felt the initial power and spirit energy ,but now he couldn't sense it. He knew a power was out and in effect, he could sense the pressure, but couldn't sense it's location. Her bankai was seemingly invisible and all around them. He decided to finish her before she could do whatever she wasp lanning to, but something stopped him midway. A massive web of chains just appeared out of thin air and stopped him in his track." WHEN!?" He asked, realizing this was not a brand new bankai. She must have had it for a while, judging by teh calmness she was displaying as she coldly looked at him.

"Took decent control over it a few decades ago. Let me show you." She replied and suddenly a great number of chains appeared, piercing a lot of lower ranked shinigami on his side, before the chains vanished, leaving only a bunch of people with holes in them." As for you... YOU ARE MINE, AFTER I KILL YOU, I WILL MAKE SURE EVEN YOUR NAME IS FORGOTTEN! SHATTER!" She shouted as she grasped in the air and a chain formed directly into her hand as it wormed it's way towards her former captain. Powerful energies gathered into the chain, making it appear as if it was radiating darkness from the massive amount of reiatsu concentrated into it.

The man blocked with a swing of his giant hammer, both attacks hitting in mid air, causing a deafening explosion, that made her skid about a meter backwards." Seems like you are still lacking compared to a proper captain. TIME TO DIE!" He shouted and flash stepped at her, already attacking. She defended by creating a great number of chains between the two of them and the horrifying struggle continued. The man realized something that unnerved him - she was smiling. Even as he was hitting her and she was barely making a dent, she was still grinning.

Bankai was a great weapon, but it was a double edged one... It drained a lof of the user and soon she was starting to run behind him. The barracks no long resembled a habitable place. She had redused them all to rubble and ruin with her wide attack and powerful swings. Chains were still scattered all about the place, hanging in midair, as if attached to insivible hooks. He was already sure of his victory, even if she had understanding of her bankai, it wasn't complete. He could tell from it's manifestation. It was too rough, too unfocused and how old was she? Not even 2 hundred years old! A great talent true, but it was still too early for her!

Suddnely as he was finally taking his killing blow to her head, he felt danger. He wanted to pull out, but it was too late. Just an arm lenght away from her, his hammer stopped in mid air, bound by chains coiling around it. More chains appeared as all her shikai and bankai abilities were being utilized rapidly to tie him down, then he saw it. She was also bound by chains, a lot of them, tying them together." Metsubiru Naminde!" She shouted as the chains were suddenly floored with reiatsu, making even him unable to break free in short notice." Let's have fun, traitor." She grinned as four chains materealized and flew in the tiny space between the two of them. The four chains were radiating with so much reiatsu that they were growing unstable.

In an instant the collided right between the two of them. First there was a huge bright spark, then it was followed by darkness and radiated outwards, erroding everything. Then came the sound... or rather the lack of there off since it was way too strong, deafning everyone in the vicinity. As the darkness expanded and swallowed everything, the light within it exploded, resulting in a massive explosion that seemingly shook the surroundings. When it was all done, there was a massive crater left where the barracks used to be. Myako was laying motionlessly at one side of teh crater. Her body bleeding, broken and surrounded by chains that were now desintegrating. Finally all chains vanished and a wakazashi simply fell down, stabbing into the earth by her head.

The captain of squad 13 was... not gone. His zampakuto laid cracked on the side by him, but the most important thing was that he was missing the majority of his torso along with his left arm. It was a lethal wound for him even if he wasn't dead right away. She had come out on top despite the fact she was the slightly weaker one. When ther bankai was called out, the space became her domain, she could still portect herself to a degree. She was still gravely injured though, she couldn't move anymore and all her reiatsu was used up. On the plus side of life, she had finished out everything with that last attack. There wasn't a signle living soul left in the barracks. They all were either killed off earlier or swallowed up in the last move. Except the young pair of shinigamis that she saved earlier. They had moved further away as she ahd instructed them before she attacked the captain. Instead of running, they returned though. The two of them picked her up and ran away with her, before any of the other rebels could arrive and kill her!

静 雨夜

Shizu Amaya

Fires burning, buildings falling, and the sounds of blades clashing surrounded Shizu as she made her way out of the Seireite. With a swift strike, she cut down yet another member of her squad, only feeling a numb disappointment as the blood splattered over her blade and uniform, staining both them and her Division 1 armband red in the firelight.

Taking a hollow look at the armband as she stepped over her former comrade, her emotions rushed to the surface again in that moment. The first Division was supposed to be an example of what all shingami should strive for, both in honor and integrity! Slamming her fist against a ruined wall, Shizu nearly broke down at the sense of betrayal she felt, at the disgust that she had once thought of following that captain eternally.

He had picked her out from the others, despite how they had labeled her as lazy and sluggish because of her sleeping habits, seeing the results of her effort for what it was. He even accommodated for her habits, giving her missions and tasks that let her prove her worth and diligence both day and night. And for what, just to betray her trust and plunge this place into chaos, to turn comrades against each other?!

Still staring at the division 1 insignia, with a glare Shizu made her decision. Reaching up with a fury filled hand, she snatched at the armband and tore it off, flinging the worthless piece of cloth to the flames. That man was no longer her captain, and he had no right to deserve her respect after what he had done. Putting her thoughts aside and turning away, she used Shunpo to hurry to the edge of the Seireite in the hopes of finding other survivors. Rebuilding was possible, but only if she wasn't alone.

Atop the 1st Division Barracks

The rain had begun to pour down on the Seireitei as two figures arrived at the rooftop of the 1st Division barracks, then a man spoke in a clearly aggressive tone "You bastard!" The Head Captain looked over to the two figures that arrived, a smile making it's way onto his face as he replied to the man in a calm tone "Ah and how may I help you?" The man grit his teeth and his brows furrowed before he replied "So this is all for peace huh!? This isn't what I sided with you for! Explain to me clearly how this is peaceful! because all I've seen so far is my Division and many others being wiped! They have no idea why this happening!" The Head Captain simply chuckled at this before delivering his reply "The road to peace isn't paved so easily, even you should know this. How much have we already lost before this? We're fighting an endless war...can you not see this? No matter how many hollow we kill, we will never win. We only seek to disrupt the balance...That goes against our very duty does it not?"

The man was completely enraged at this point, behind him the other figure placed a hand on his left shoulder and then spoke, this voice was much more gentle and clearly that of a woman "There's no use...we can't stop what is already in motion..." The Head Captain nodded at this "At least she understands..." The man balled his hands tightly into fists as he began walking towards the Head Captain "I might not be able to stop what's happening down there...but I can stop you!" Itsumi quickly perked up as she went to unsheathe her Zanpakuto only to be stopped by the Head Captain "No..." Itsumi looked at the Head Captain, slightly shocked "B-But Sir!" The mans footsteps grew stronger as he reached for his Zanpakuto "I'm ending your reign here!"

Everything then stopped for a moment as another male figure arrived on the rooftop "Huh...so this is where you ran off to" Then yet another male figure then arrived shortly after, panting as they tried to catch their breath "Y-You need to slow down Kaizo! I don't move around like that!" Kaizo cracked his neck before speaking "Then you shouldn't be so lazy Noro...now shut the hell up and actually prepare to do some work!" Noro sighed and rubbed the back of his head with his right hand "Not work...dammit! I thought you said I'd just be watching and waiting!" Kaizo clearly irritated looked back at Noro "Just fucking fight for once! I don't care if you're in the 4th Division! I know you can god damn fight! Now!" Kaizo looked back towards everyone else but before he could speak the other man spoke "The hell are you small fry doing here!? This isn't the place for you to be!"

Kaizo grinned then cracked his knuckles "Oh na...I'm exactly where I want to be. I've come for you! It's been so many years but now seems like the perfect time to take my revenge for what you did...no, not only you! you and that bastard of a wife with you!" The man turned to Kaizo, his expression even angrier than it already was, if even possible "What'd you just say?..." The Head Captain looked on in amusement at this before speaking quietly to himself "Well this should be amusing..." The Head Captain then turned and looked at Itsumi "Regardless, perhaps we should lead them elsewhere. I'd rather not have my barracks further destroyed" The Head Captain then shunpoed off, Itsumi in tow which caught the attention of everyone else on the roof, catching the mans attention specifically "Y-You coward! get back here!" Both he and his wife followed the Head Captain leaving only Kaizo and Noro on the roof "Ohoho no fuckin' chance! you aren't getting away again!!" Kaizo then shunpoed off after them, leaving Noro by himself "It'd be great if everyone would just stop moving!...I just wanted a normal night...Why is it never a normal night?" Noro then sighed and followed the rest to their destination

Sōkyoku Hill

All parties arrived relatively quickly at Sokyoku Hill, The Head Captain figured it was a far better battleground than the roof of his barracks after all "Oh...you all followed, well that worked out...but don't mind me, please finish your conversation" The Head Captain motioned with his right hand towards Kaizo and the man "Is this a joke to you!?" Kaizo at this point was growing increasingly irritated and looked back at Noro "Just keep her out of my way, I'm only interested in the 7th Division prick!" Kaizo then took off towards the 7th Division Captain, this left Noro reaching out towards Kaizo, still attempting to catch his breath "J-Just stop for a second please! aww...dammit, now he's done it" The 7th Division Captain, previously and simply known as the man. Went to turn towards Kaizo only to be met with a swift and harsh right fist to his face that sent him skidding back some distance, that was when his wife and Lieutenant quickly unsheathed her Zanpakuto and went to slash at Kaizo, only for her attack to be blocked by Noro's own Zanpakuto "Sorry...he'll kill me if I don't help" The woman looked at Noro furiously and spoke in just as furious a tone "I'll kill you if you don't stand aside!!" Noro shrugged "I'll take my chances...he's more threatening than you are..."

The 7th Division Captain wiped the corner of his mouth with the back of his left hand, a fierce glare now fixated on Kaizo "You're done...I know who you are and I don't care. You're the little shit in the Second Division, that third seat I keep hearing about...the one who keeps fucking up his missions" Kaizo unsheathed his Zanpakuto and yawned "Yeah yeah, whatever. That's by your standards, not mine. I'm not interested in what you think, I'm here to just kill you" Kaizo then shunpoed in front of the 7th Division Captain, slashing from his left to his right, this caused the 7th Division Captain to raise his Zanpakuto to block the attack, yet Kaizo vanished, appearing behind the 7th Division Captain and slashing across his back. Thankfully due to his instincts he managed to avoid a serious wound and managed to just about shunpo away, however he still received a cut "You barely even reacted to that one...come on if you know me so well, you should know how I fight!" The 7th Division's Captain glared at Kaizo, this little shit was clearly cocky...this wouldn't last long.

Noro & The Lieutenant of the 7th Division's fight

The two had put a little distance between one another, the first to speak was Noro "You know...you should go easy on me. I'm a fourth Division member after all a-and a tenth seat! So hardly a fair match up!" The Lieutenant spun her Zanpakuto in her right hand as he spoke "You should have thought about that before you tried to interfere in matters that don't concern you!" The Zanpakuto in her right hand began to glow bright yellow as it's form changed into that of a halberd "I'll end you quickly and get to helping my husband deal with your little friend over there" Noro sighed and rubbed the back of his with his left hand "Shikai already? c'mon!...I really, really don't want to have to try..." Noro sighed once more as his Zanpakuto's blade became all black, blood then began dripping from it "Guess I have no choice...Sorry for this Yurin, I always thought you were kind of cool" The Lieutenant looked at Noro, her eyes cold and her tone just as much so "A strange time to be admiring me isn't it? Regardless...I'm not holding back"

Yurin, the Lieutenant of the 7th Division then rushed towards Noro, aiming to impale him with her halberd, Noro saw this attack coming and choose instead to stand there, his stomach was the impaled by Yurin's shikai which caused her eyes to widen, she knew he had the chance to dodge, but why didn't he? "I just want to end this quickly..." Yurin was still confused at this point, to confused to notice the scythe of blood solidifying behind her as it swung it's blade through her back and out of her stomach causing her mouth to fill with blood as she then coughed it out, she needed to get out of this quickly! Yurin twisted her Shikai and sliced it out the left side of Noro's stomach as she then shunpoed away, the scythe returning back into it's liquid blood form. Noro stumbled a little and coughed, blood of his own began coming up "Ugh I hate this..." Noro then held his left palm over his wounds and began using healing Kido, this kido glew a bright red however and began healing his wounds at an accelerated speed. "Good thing I mastered that, makes these situations much easier"

Yurin held her stomach with her left hand as blood dripped from her chin, her vision quickly becoming distorted, even the colours she saw began to change and grow more vivid "W-What's happening?" Noro then looked over to Yurin and spoke "You're poisoned quite simply put. For my own safety really...I don't like spilling my own blood like that all the time. I just can't risk it really..." Yurin then began coughing more as a pain shot through her heart causing her to wince "H-How are you a tenth seat with this kind of power?" Noro stood slightly hunched as he rubbed the back of his head with his left hand "You're going to die so I suppose it doesn't hurt to tell you. Truth is I'm a big slacker. I believe the term failed upwards might somewhat apply to me, I got where I am now by simply avoiding work and getting forced into situations I couldn't get out of...if I applied myself then I might even be the Lieutenant by now, but I just don't want that much work. I joined the fourth division for a more laid back lifestyle..." Yurin looked at Noro in disbelief, although it was becoming difficult to properly see where he was at this point.

The Head Captain watched Noro's fight with interest, he then looked over his shoulder at Itsumi and spoke "You may want to make note of that...quite terrifying really" he then turned his attention back to Noro's fight. Noro continued to speak "Look...out of fairness I should tell you how to rid yourself of the poison. If you manage to kill me, then the poison will exit your body, simple as...bad news is, you aren't going to kill me. I'll try end this faster now..." Yurin couldn't believe it, this fool had been holding himself back because he was so stupidly lazy! "Screw that! I've still got fight in me! You haven't beat me yet!" Yurin gripped her Shikai as tightly as she could in both hands and shunpoed towards Noro, slashing down at him as she passed him and appeared behind him "Heh! got you!"

Noro sighed and looked back at Yurin "Unfortunately you missed. The poison has really spread quicker than I thought, you must have a naturally weak immune system. I best end this now, it's becoming cruel..." Yurin went to turn to face Noro but found herself unable to move, her feet simply wouldn't move, as if something had a hold of her "W-What's happening!?" Blood had pooled around Yurin's feet, in fact...the blood had created quite a large pool. The blood then began to ripple as many solid spikes of blood shot out from the pool and pierced Yurin several times through her chest causing her to violently spit up blood "I'll try keep you somewhat alive Yurin...Like I said, I thought you were kind of cool" Before Yurin could react Noro's Shikai pierced through her back, through her heart and out of her chest "Sorry..." Yurin then looked over to her husband, the 7th Division Captain, reaching out to him with her left hand as she spoke "Kenji..." Yurin's body then began to turn red before she turned into a liquid red form, then her body violently burst sending blood splattering everywhere. Noro sighed once more and sealed his Zanpakuto, all the blood in sight vanished as he sheathed his Zanpakuto and sat down and crossed his legs "At least I can relax now..." Noro turned his attention to Kaizo's fight which seemed to be getting to the interesting part.

Kaizo & Kenji, Captain of the 7th Division's fight

Kaizo and Kenji had been trading blows back and forth now, both receiving their share of wounds but none all that serious. "This is boring! bring out your damn Bankai already! Why're you holding back huh?" Kenji continued to glare at Kaizo yet his attention was snapped away suddenly as he saw his wife reaching out to him before she violently exploded sending blood everywhere, his eyes widened dramatically as shouted out "YURIN!!!" Kenji gripped his Zanpakuto tightly as the ground shook violently causing cracks to form "BAN-KAI!" Kenji was no longer focused on Kaizo, instead he had Noro in his gaze. Kaizo looked over at Noro quickly before returning his attention back to Kenji "That shit's terrifying..." Kaizo's eyes narrowed however as he noticed Kenji focusing on Noro "Not having this..." Kaizo's Zanpakuto then froze over and shattered as red ice formed over his hands and forearms. Without warning Kenji shunpoed towards Noro, however he was met only with Kaizo's left palm smashing into his face and sending his head into the ground, Kenji completely enraged wasted no time in using his Bankai as arm rose from the ground made of rock reached out to crush Kaizo causing him to Shunpo into the air to retreat.

This gave Kenji time to get to his feet as he looked up at Kaizo and shouted "SO I HAVE TO KILL YOU FIRST!? FINE!" Two more arms made of rock erupted from the earth and stretched high into the air in an attempt to crush Kaizo between them, however Kaizo was far from defenceless in the air. Kaizo created a disk of red ice beneath his feet that he then catapulted himself off of, rocketing himself towards Kenji, creating many large spikes of red ice around himself that then fired towards Kenji. Kenji quickly created a barrier of rock before himself that managed to stop the Ice spikes in their path, he then stabbed the barrier with his Zanpakuto causing a large blade of rock to shoot out towards Kaizo at a blinding speed, in the air it was hard to dodge, especially something this fast! even with his ice disk he wouldn't make it out of the way and so Kaizo opted to try avoid it by twisting his body, yet found himself caught by it regardless as it pierced through his left shoulder.

Before Kaizo could properly react Kenji was in the air above him, his Zanpakuto now massive in size due to rock growing from it and causing it to swell in size. Kenji then slashed his giant Zanpakuto down at Kaizo who was still pierced by the earlier blade, the Zanpakuto caught Kaizo clean and sent him hurtling at a disgustingly fast speed towards the ground which he quickly made contact with and found himself now in a large crater violently wounded. It felt as if his body had been broken in half and there was the blood loss. "Shit..." Kaizo grit his teeth as he tried to sit up, yet he found himself unable to do so due to his injuries and thus only resulted in him coughing up blood "Ah this aint good..." Kaizo then looked up to see Kenji falling towards him, his Zanpakuto overhead in order to deliver one final blow to Kaizo..."FU-BANKAI!" Immensely cold wind burst out from Kaizo's location as the ground around him froze instantly, Kenji now close to Kaizo froze in mid air, now unable to move his own body as all he could do was look down at Kaizo who continued to lay where he was, his left arm raised and his open hand aimed at Kenji. Kaizo's body had become frozen almost entirely and his skin began to rapidly turn grey, his breathing was slow and painful as he spoke "Fuck you...this is for my father..." Kaizo then slowly clenched his left hand into a fist, this caused Kenji's frozen body to slowly crack and then explode into chunks of ice.

Kaizo continued to lay in the crater as he sealed his Zanpakuto causing the ice to fade slowly, his wounds were incredibly severe and it was only moments before he'd bleed out...thankfully he brought a pretty good medic. "Noro! Get your ass over here before I fucking die!" Noro had dozed off watching the fight but was woken rudely by Kaizo, this caused Noro to do his usual sighing, rubbing the back of his head and slowly get himself to his feet. He then walked over to Kaizo fairly slowly until he was stood over him "You really should be more careful you know..." Kaizo frowned at Noro as he spoke, unable to shout but clearly speaking in an irritated tone "Just shut up and heal me already! I don't need your shit!" Noro sighed then unsheathed his Zanpakuto and held it over Kaizo's chest, pointing it's tip towards his chest as the blade turned black and blood began to drip from it "One...Two..." Noro then plunged his Zanpakuto into Kaizo's chest causing Kaizo to wince slightly and then retort angrily "Where was the fucking Three!? Dammit Noro!" Noro then held his left hand over his mouth as he yawned before he responded "I couldn't be bothered to count it..." Kaizo wanted to face palm at this point but wasn't able to. Thankfully due to Noro's Shikai, Kaizo's bleeding had been stopped, now all he had to do was heal him with some standard healing Kido and he'd be...stable, those bones would take awhile to heal after all.

The Head Captain

The Head Captain had watched both fights and while he was impressed with Noro's fight, he was less than impressed with Kaizo's. "Always to reckless...if he got that under control he'd be able to win half of these fights with ease, even that would have shown no real trouble for him...still a long way to go." The Head Captain then turned to Itsumi and looked behind her at the burning wreck that was the Seireitei "Seems everything is winding down now...well there's only one thing left to do..." The Head Captains eyes then met Itsumi's as he continued speaking "It's time for us to fight..." Itsumi's eyes widened as she stepped back "I-I can't sir! I couldn't!" The Head Captain reached for his Zanpakuto and unsheathed it "You do not have a choice my dear Itsumi" The Head Captain then raised his Zanpakuto above his head and swung down at Itsumi, all she could do was close her eyes as everything grew silent, then a loud crash could be heard as the ground shook violently.

The Head Captains Zanpakuto stopped only inches from Itsumi as a bright light shone from behind him, causing him to calmly turn to face the light "Just in time..." Two figures emerged from the bright light "Ah! my dear friends Akira and Kotomi! How're are you?" Akira the man stood at an impressive 6 foot 4, had long flowing white hair and warm yellow eyes and was accompanied by Kotomi, a shorter woman standing about 5 foot 7, long pink hair down to her lower back and cold blue eyes. Akira wasted no time in speaking "Masaru...this is what you've been up to since we left? I'm disappointed in you" Kotomi shook her head as she spoke after Akira "Truly...I know you were always a mischief maker but this is what you do now? play games with peoples lives?" The Head Captain, Masaru chuckled before he replied to the two people he considered friends "How I've missed you both! Any chance of me joining you both on your way back up to the Soul Kings palace? would save me an awful lot of trouble you know..."

Akira raised his right hand to his face and rubbed his eyes with his fingers "Enough with the jokes, you know why we're here Masaru. Let us waste no more time..." Masaru sighed then replied to Akira "I wasn't joking though, I mean...can I buy you both a drink, my favourite bar is just dow-oh nevermind...it's on fire...well it was down there. Well I would have brought you both a drink, had a little catch up and so on but I suppose we can't do that...Very well then. Do your worst" Masaru then threw down his Zanpakuto and raised his arms into the air "So what's the plan? quick death?" Itsumi looked at Masaru shocked and then spoke "S-Sir what're you doing!?" Akira narrowed his eyes at this and spoke "Exactly...what exactly are you doing, do you really expect us to believe you'll just comply peacefully?" Masaru shrugged and then spoke "I've only preached peace have I not? It'd be hypocritical of me to shed blood with my own two hands now wouldn't it?"

Kotomi then chimed in "I don't trust you Masaru, you're always planning something..." Masaru simply chuckled in response to this "Perhaps then, but I have no more planned truly...deliver my fate unto me, I wasn't expecting you both to have become so strong, even I know I'd be wasting my time fighting you both, I'd rather save my former Lieutenant the horror" Akira looked at Kotomi then nodded, they knew what they had to do then. Both appeared either side of Masaru and soon he found himself wrapped in chains, Itsumi found herself simply watching, unable to move a muscle or even speak as Masaru was wrapped in these chains. "Oh these are a snug fit...oh and they're stopping me from using my Reiatsu, well this is a shocker!" Akira shook his head as both him and Kotomi took a few steps back. Then behind Masaru in the sky, a large gate appeared, skeletons on either side with a hand reaching for the centre of the door as it slowly opened and sucked in air.

Masaru looked at the gates behind him shocked "Hell!? You're sending me to Hell!?" he looked back to face Akira and Kotomi who both nodded "It was the fate decided for you, death would have been too quick and painless of a method for you who has made the ultimate betrayal." Akira's gaze was cold as he took his turn to speak "You had your chance to fight for your freedom, I must say I'm glad you didn't...you made this much easier for everyone" Masaru grit his teeth as a large blade began to emerge from the gates of hell "You've got to be shitting me!" Masaru's Zanpakuto on the ground then began to glow bright pink however he quickly found himself impaled through the chest by Itsumi who had tears in her eyes "W-What am I doing!?" Masaru chuckled then smiled at Itsumi "The right thing..." Itsumi stumbled back and fell to her knee's as her Zanpakuto also hit the floor. Masaru was then impaled by the blade from hell that began to slowly pull him back towards it's gates "You should have just killed me...cause I'll be back, you will regret this!"

Akira and Kotomi looked on emotionless as Masaru was dragged back to hell, it's gates closing once he was inside. "Do you believe him?" Akira said, looking down at Kotomi "No. Even he will struggle down there, let's go." With that, the two turned and made their way towards where they came from.

And just like that he was gone, the man that'd started it all found himself sealed in Hell.

The Morning after

The sun slowly began to rise, it's light emerging onto the world and casting the darkness back. It's light travelled across the Soul Society until it hit the battered wreckage that was the Seireitei. The fighting had all but stopped and the dead and wounded were finally being attended to. This place had a long time to go before it was able to operate at full capacity again, it was in utter ruins. Now though it was without any leadership, any Captains and even the majority if not all the lieutenants died...the Soul Society as a whole hadn't seen a darker day, if not for the efforts during the previous thousand years, the Soul Society would find itself at an incredible risk but now was the time to rebuild and to rebuild, there needed to be a leader...

Within the Central 46 chambers, a certain Shinigami was called down and was quickly being asked many questions, somehow Central 46 had wormed their way out of getting slaughtered, although in a usual fashion they were still ungrateful as ever to even be breathing after such an catastrophe "Truly, how could you have not known this would happen!? You worked the closest to him! You were even seen standing at his side when all this was happening! what do you have to say for yourself?" The Shinigami standing in the middle of these 46 holier than thou morons was the 1st Division Lieutenant, Itsumi Yukanna. She kept her head low, her hands to her side and tried to keep her emotions well in check as to not further anger Central 46 "I had no idea this was his plan, I found out when everyone else did. He kept me completely in the dark and made it his every effort to do so. As far as I gathered he'd been planning this for a thousand years...as for being by his side what else was I supposed to do? I may be as strong as some of the previous Captains but I do not possess enough strength alone to kill or even subdue him, he'd have struck me down easily and he made this very clear to me...this was all very well calculated, at least to a degree."

Central 46 were as ever not very pleased with this answer, if ever they'd be pleased by any answer. "You should have done more! our forces are in ruins! Why are we wasting our time with her! She's clearly useless!" Another voice then chimed in "I agree! how can the first divisions Lieutenant be unable to do anything to stop this!?" Then again another voice "Now, now we shouldn't be so harsh on the girl. We know full well what that man was capable of, he's talked his way out of many things that should have had him imprisoned, clearly he knew how to play people to his advantage, even us. This girl is one of our last strong Shinigami and whilst we could punish her, we'd only be playing right into his hands, wouldn't we then just be further carrying out his work by removing even more power from what's left of the Gotei 13?" Many voices and mumbles echoed through the chambers, most in agreeance but some clearly not satisfied still.

"Come now hush!...like it or not the Gotei 13 needs a leader, it needs a Head Captain and she is still the most qualified amongst the Gotei 13's ranks. We have no real choice but to appoint her to that position, let her fix this mess. I believe the work from that alone will serve as some form of punishment...will it not?" Most of the chambers were a bit hesitant but decided to side with those for this motion. "Then it is settled. Itsumi Yukanna, you are here by appointed the new Head Captain of the Gotei 13, do not let the Soul Society down..." There wasn't much to say after this, the less Itsumi said, the better...she'd only dig herself into a deeper hole. Now though she had to face a new challenge, she had to assume her previous Captains position and run the whole show properly now and this show was missing a lot.

Roughly 100 Years later

Itsumi stood on the balcony of her office and looked out into the distance, it overlooked a large portion of the Seireitei which thankfully at this point was fully rebuilt and mostly functioning. Most Divisions had Captains, some had Lieutenants and some were still without any real leadership which made her job more difficult but at least it'd gotten easier for her over the last one hundred years. It felt like an eternity to simply reach this point...but now she was in command of new and inexperienced Shinigami, some of which had taken to their new roles as Captains and Lieutenants and some that continued to get to grips with the duties involved, alas they were strong and so even off that merit alone she had to appoint them.

Still though she couldn't shake the feeling that all this was wrong...it never felt right for her to be wearing the 1st Division Haori, it didn't feel right being the now strongest Shinigami in the Soul Society...she hadn't earned any of this, it all just fell into her lap and she had to just get up and run with it. Like it or not though she was bound to this duty, she couldn't leave it...this was her punishment. She'd be here until she died and that in itself saddened her, regardless though she'd stay strong and do her duty, although the barracks were lonely these days, people tended to avoid the Head Captain for some obvious reasons.

There was then the other issue, in the time that the Shinigami have been rebuilding, the hollows numbers have been swelling due to the Shinigami being unable to deal with them and this has created problems throughout the human world and even the Soul Society, their ranks spilled into the worlds due to Hueco Mundo becoming so full of hollow and having not enough experienced Shinigami to deal with them made it truly horrible in these worlds. Perhaps now though they could begin to fight back...just more of the same in the end though...everything a hundred years ago was for nothing, people just died pointlessly believing that peace would come from it all...they'd likely be rolling in their graves to find everything still the same, perhaps worse.

Prologue is over, hundred year time skip has taken place, post away

The World A Thoroughly Unlikable Person

Shion was sitting cross-legged with her zanpakuto in her lap when she was interrupted from her meditation by the arrival of a message. "Report to the meeting hall." Apparently there was no helping it, she'd have to go. She quickly flash stepped across the Seireitei from the Squad Two barracks to the meeting hall, where she found herself to be the first to arrive. She decided to continue her meditation as she waited for the rest. She re-entered sword zen position and waited.

Okirigae Mosumi

Okirigae stood at Matsurada's memorial, her hand placed on his shoulder. The burns of their battle still marking her arms, bowing her head in respect, she turned her back and shunpo'd back to 11th's barracks. It had taken a while to rebuild the barracks back to normal, but it never had felt like it had gotten back to 100%. Both the lack of Matsurada's and Haruzato's personalities, and Okirigae's icy cold personlity replacing it hadnt exactly been the best for the division. She had tried her best to be better, but her reputation had steered away and left her lonelier then she had felt before. Visiting Mitsue and though she would never admit it, Taro kept her as sane as she could be. But all in all, being Captain wasnt all that it was cracked up to be.

Putting on the 11th Captain Haori, she felt the same way she always did when she slipped her arms through its sleeves, it never felt right but in same way it made her feel as if he was always with her, his last words a constant ringing in the back of her head. Pulled out her thought by the sound of someone approaching the barracks, walking out to see who was visiting, she was unfortunately met with a messenger informing her the captains and their lt were to head to the meeting hall. It had been a while since their last meeting, on account of everyone basically filling roles and forced to clean up and rebuild the divisions. Thinking about grabbing Mitsue to accompany her, she decided against it, as he was probably busy himself. Shunpoing to the meeting hall, she saw that she was second to arrive after Shion. She wasnt exactly friends with her, or even acquaintances, so she opted to let the women continue meditating, twirling her sword in her hands while she waited for the others to show up.

T A R O Y A M A D A

// A N E W E R A

In a most serene manner the butterfly with a message landed neatly atop Taro's head. His wide smile turned to a look of curiosity as his gaze couldn't quite match the curvature of his forehead. The sun was rampant, stretching along the floor as if trying to reach Taro's bent leg like a pining child, thankfully he was sat just out of reach, in the cool calm shade. Lowering his new winged friend in a gentle grasp he was notified of the meeting, a cursory glance at where the sun was in the sky, he had time. He rested a pen on the paper and stood from his chamber desk, allowing himself a moment to watch the flutter of his messenger make its way out of the window.

So strong was the sun's glare the contrast between the hall and it's boundary to the outside world obscured any arrivals. To those inside it must have seemed like the devil himself approached, a strong bright sun blotted from existence by the appearance of one very large silhouetted beast, the warm summer rays snuffed out like candles in his shadow. And yet in walked Taro, his haori settling as the wind struggled to follow him inside with a smile etched across his flat features as if carved in permanently, breaking any tension.

It was a quiet residence. Not many had arrived and those that had were either lost in thought or entertaining themselves. Feeling he should not to usurp the placid tone Taro took his place in the inevitable line-up and mused to himself about the writings he had left unfinished before he was called for.

Shizu Amaya

Sleeping within her room at the division 11 barracks, Shizu was awakened by the sound of someone stopping outside her door and 'knocking', a method used by people that wanted to talk to her immediately. Still a little groggy, Shizu got up and deflated her pillow as she walked to the door, opening it up to receive notification of a meeting she needed to attend.

Thanking the messenger, she closed the door and promptly started to prepare herself for the meeting, taking off her division 11 armband before disrobing her kimono and folding it up. After straightening out the sleeveless and shortened Shihakushō that she wore underneath, she puts her division 11 armband back on, picks up her Zanpakutō, and heads out to the meeting hall at her usual pace.

Upon arriving at the meeting hall, she isn't surprised to see that her captain and others are already there and idling around until the others show up. Deciding to do the same, Shizu found herself some empty space and started to mentally guide herself through a series of swings that she wants to improve on, taking the time to correct her stance and adjust the angle of her blade as she tries to memorize the motions.

Myako Arashi

Soul Society was as always bustling with life in a way. It may not have been the greatest experience of existance, but there were people here. They were all miling about, doing their own things. Some did jobs of different kinds, others just spend their times however they saw fit. Even the thieves were being active! Honestly sometimes they were told to tell souls that this place was a paradise, it was not quite it.

"Nee-sama, will you tell us another story?" A small girl asked in one of the side alleys, as she and about half a dozen other children, were surrounding a woman in a washed out pink dress with floral patterns. The dress looked old, having seen the endless passage of time. Despite it's washed out colors and clearly old status, it was not too bad otherwise. It was still intact and the parts of it that may have been damaged once upon a time, were very carefully and neatly repaired and restored. Some of the children were orphans, others were in families. Didn't make a difference as they always seemed to flock to her whenever she appeared.

"Sure!" She replied with a smile as she started telling them stories of distant lands, weird inventions, outlandish creatures of bizzare proportions and many other things. The kids had fun while she handed out water and food to them. Some of the kids ate it now, others stored it for later to bring home. All in all, they were always gifted something whenever this woman appeared. She'd bring food, toys or clothing to them. She'd stay for a few days and then vanish, reappearing days or weeks later.

This time too, she told them stories of distant lands and weird people who wielded strange powers going on adventures. In the end she send them to head off and start playing. The woman was sitting on a simple stool, watching the children scurry off, chasing each other, pretending to be shinigamis and fighting imaginary hollows. She smiled at the sight, as 2 figures clad in black appeared behind her. She didn't stood up from her spot, neither did she turn to look at them. She simply didn't acknowledge them right now.

"CAPTAIN ARASHI!" One of the figures in black who turned out to be shinigami shouted and bowed." A meeting has been called. All currently appointed captains and lieutenants are to gather." The man explained as he didn't dare look up at the womah who was still ignoring them. She had snuck off from the barracks again. She always did that and they'd have to scatter all across Soul Society and even beyond the city boundries too look for her. This time they luckily found her in time.

Myako didn't turn towards them, instead she just lazily nodded and very slowly stood up from the stool. With a flick of her wrist, the elegant pink dress was undone easily and slipped off her body, revealing a set of black shinigamy uniform underneath. The dress was quickly folded and handed to one of the shinigami who came to call for her. She then reached a hand, but neither of the two helpers moved. She narrowed her eyes and shook her hand a little to remind them to act. Suddenly having been reminded, they snapped to attention and helped her put on her sleeveless Captain Haori on. She shrugged her shoulders a little until the thing was barely hanging off the tips of her shoulders. With this somewhat sloppy, somewhat flirty and somewhat freegoing look, she used Flash Steps to move back in the direction of the Seiretei and towards the meeting place.

It didn't take long to arrive and not to her surprise, some were already present. Shion,Shizu Okirigae and Taro were already present. The first one seemed to be meditating so she didn't bother her and turned to the other three." Hey." She greeted them as she found her spot and without any care in the world simply sat down in the most relaxing manner possible, Zampakuto hanging off her left wrist on a string and a jug of sake on the right wrist." Anyone want some?" She asked and raised the jug.

Mitsue Kurotuo

If there was anyone that loved to rest their eyes under the kindling warmth of the sun it was none other than Mitsue. It was all about appreciating the little things in life and being able to relax in between the hectic flow of life in the Gotei 13. Previously, he had grown accustomed to the chirps and clicks of cicadas back when he was living and now that he was dead, but one thing he had not grown accustomed to was the butterfly trying to perch itself on the tip of his nose. His peace gone he tried to swat whatever it was away before he realized the battle had already been lost. Opening his eyes only furthered his depression, “Another meeting I guess” checking the time, “And I guess I’m late.”

Reluctantly the captain rose and shuffled into his ceremonial garb and made his way to the main hall. A crushed box slithered out of his haori along with his hand as a white stick appeared from being jostled around. A quick smoke was all he needed to get through this and from previous experience he knew quite intimately how to time it. Finally arriving he saw his contemporaries had already made themselves comfortable almost too comfortable with Taro already putting his nose to the grindstone whilst the seasoned alcoholic in Myako was already offering drinks.

“Good grief, maybe I’ll take that drink” he said combing any loose hairs out of the front of his face. Mitsue made his way in between Taro and Okirigae and made himself at home. “You know you’ll poke someone’s eye out if you keep twirling that around Mosumi. I’m offended you didn’t wait for me either or drag me out. That goes for you to Taro you giant door stop.”

Okirigae Mosumi

Watching as more people filled in, Taro stood next to her but remained silent. Though outwardly most would view their relationship as two people who weren't the best of friends, it was actually the opposite. At the beginning of getting to know the big man, she and him hadn't quite gotten along together, but 100 years can change a lot of things. Plus, Taro's ability to be quiet was one of her favorites and she welcomed anyone who could be quiet at the appropriate times. Of course this nice silence was quickly filled with Mayo Arashi's greeting and offering of saki. Sighing, she was shocked the woman even showed up considering her ability to disappear and go slacking off with civilian souls. She was literally the opposite of silence, and in Okirigae's mental dictionary, Mayo's face was placed there for the definition of loud/ a slacker. Shaking her head at the woman for the offer of her drink, she tried to stay as cordial with the other captains as possible now a days. Following in behind her, was none other then Mitsue Kurotuo, who she unforunately considered her best friend. Someone she would be willing to die for even in the event something like that could happen "Good hopefully if the stars are aligned it'll be yours" a small grin replaced her bleak demeanor, before stopping the twirling and resting the sheathed sword tip down, two hands resting on the hilt. "To be honest i half expected you to come with Taro, and both of you two beating me here, but it seems i was wrong to assume you'd be on time. Even the big teddy bear and the resident drinker beat you, you might wanna reconsider your status as captain"

7th Division Captain

Within the training hall of the 7th Division barracks all that could be heard was the sound of Bokken hitting flesh, often followed by a cracking sound and what sounded like a war cry. This went on for hours until it began to slow down and eventually stopped, stood in the middle of the training hall was Kaizo, his arms folded and eyes closed as all around him laid men and women all exhausted from their training or perhaps it was more Kaizo's training. He'd stood there for hours in the same spot whilst every member of his Division hit him with bokken until they were either exhausted or the bokken broke. Kaizo often did this kind of training, he called it endurance training for them and toughness training for him, he'd become quite numb to it all now.

Although he still remembers the days when this was treated more as torture than training, back in the 2nd Division they'd do this for hours on Kaizo to make him stronger and make sure he wouldn't be weak and give up any information. At first it was painful but he grew to enjoy the pain and soon it became a staple of his training. However almost on cue a hell butterfly fluttered in which caught Kaizo's attention "Hm?" The message was delivered, requesting all Captains and Lieutenants to report to the meeting hall "About time, hopefully we get a serious enemy to fight." with that Kaizo adjusted his uniform, dusting the shoulders off before turning and making for the exit of the training hall, pushing the doors open the sun almost violently assaulted his eyes which caused him to squint slightly and speak in irritation "Damn sun...when are we going to get some rain? tch!" With that said Kaizo made a quick exit via Shunpo.

In moments he arrived at the Meeting hall to find a few had already arrived. Kaizo barely knew any of them, he made no effort to get to know them...just wasn't his thing. Kaizo then went to take his place, crossing his arms before having a quick look around and surprise surprise no Noro in sight. He took note of everyone and what they were doing such as meditating, drinking and having a chat, once again...not his thing and so Kaizo then simply opted to close his eyes and wait until the meeting started and the Head Captain arrived.

The Head Captain, 1st Division

Itsumi was sat in her office behind her desk sifting through mountains of paperwork the ideally should have been completed months ago but due to a lack of staff, she had to take most of it upon herself which was stressful, she barely got any sleep these days. Itsumi let out a sigh as she looked up from her desk and then turned her head to the right to look out into the distance "They should be ready by now..." She slid back on her chair and stood up, stepping out and then tucking the chair back under the desk as she then made for the exit of her office. "Still not used to this..." It'd taken her a long time to get even remotely used to being the Head Captain, standing in front of many other powerful Shinigami and effectively giving them orders was just strange and she couldn't even begin to imagine how he-well...she was best off not thinking about that anymore.

After a short walk Itsumi arrived to a rather empty hall...once stood Thirteen Captains and Lieutenants but now it was down to a terribly low number and that was made even lower by some who were too busy with missions, some too busy with their research and then some...ideally one who was simply too lazy to actually show up...She'd have to pay him a visit after they were all done here. As she walked past the Captains and Lieutenants she noticed the alcohol, although admittedly she could smell it before even seeing it. Usually she should be more strict with these things but they all likely needed whatever they could get to relax, a lot of responsibility was weighing on their shoulders after all. Itsumi got to her position and turned to face the rest of the Captains and Lieutenants. "Are we all ready? I'd ask that you put the alcohol away just for now. We've got some potentially concerning information to go through."

Sure enough everyone came to attention though almost not surprisingly Alcohol was offered to Itsumi before the meeting got underway and whilst she was tempted due to how stressed she was feeling she simply shook her head in response before trying to do her best to sound stern and strong "Now that we have everyone's attention, It's time to get this meeting underway. Recently reports have been coming to me from the S.R.D.I about increased activities of hollow in both the Human world and Soul Society, I know...nothing strange there. That is until we look into why even more are coming across. Apparently there have been odd signatures that can only be described as Vasto Lorde level hollow and I don't need to tell you how rare even one of them is"

Itsumi then closed her eyes for a moment before she continued speaking "So you can imagine how the S.R.D.I are freaking out about finding 5 of those signatures and in quite quick succession of one another, one of which has somehow made it's way into the Soul Society but is doing a remarkable job of keeping a low profile. This has lead to all kinds of trouble entering both the Human World and Soul Society, only the other day a Gillian was sighted in the Human world which is something that should never really occur, thankfully it was dealt with before it caused any damage. Then we get onto the next issue which is much stranger...souls just disappearing entirely. Not being killed and going into the great machine that is our universe but entirely disappearing and this is the strangest because we can't find any trace of what has done this. We have our theories but they're just that." Itsumi then took a look at the Captains and Lieutenants around the room before she continued on her next part.

"What I need from you all is to go out and actively hunt this Vasto Lorde, we cannot under any circumstances have this thing running loose. Do not underestimate this thing, we have no idea how strong it really could be and so I suggest pairing up. Lieutenants should stick with a Captain at the very least and be prepared to call back up if needed. Whilst on the hunt for this Vasto Lorde, try to find out anything on these disappearing souls. We can all speculate but we need something solid to try find out what has done this. If you have any questions the feel free to ask, if not...get going. That concludes the meeting." Itsumi felt a bit off, she was never good with these meetings but she at least got across the important information. She would assign them partners but some Captains felt like they were being babied if things were handled in such a way and so she felt it was best if they were left to decide amongst themselves.

Myako Arashi

Myako casually handed out cups of sake to the interested and also started to drink of her own cup. All was good with the world. Some weren't taking the drinks, but that was their own right. In the end it was still fine. She enjoyed it and that was all that mattered. As the head captain walked in, Myako looked at her for a moment when the topic of putting away the alcohol was brought." Alright." She shrugged and downed the rest of the cup in a single motion, putting it away, taking in the expression of someone who was decently focused on the task of listening. After all the alcohol didn't really affect her negatively in any way with the degree of her power and constitution at this point.

The news that were given were rather concerning with the gravity of the situation. Myako raised an eyebrow as she listened. A Vasto Lorde was here? That... how the hell did that happen? She was a captain after all, while some of the lower ranked Shinigami might not have seen even a Gillian since they joined she had and Adjuchas as well. Vasto Lorde was a whole different breed. There were 5 of those? Was the entire population of Vasto Lordes of Hueco Mundo trying to leave? She frowned, each one of those was repotedly stronger than a captain this might be a problem. What was even more problem was the fact that it was keeping a low profile, with it's goal unknown, but that might not need be a bad thing per say. They were intelligent, so there should be reason for it to be here and they could get information if they find it. It might be willing to speak out it's reasons who knew.

"I'm going to start the hunt the one within Soul Society right away. However if a Vasto Lorde is here, we should probably assume that at least Gillians or regular hollows in greater numbers might show up as well at it's beck and call." Myako eventually said when the breifing was more or less over. They needed a hunter to do this and she was the closest thing they had to a hunter. She enjoyed such a chase and the game of it. The only possible negaive was that if a fight broke out, her own power and attack would cause an absurd amount of collateral damage, but it was innevitable.

"It's going to take a while, especially if it really wants to stay hidden, but I will track it down." She added and stretched her arms before fixing her belt that was starting to get a bit loose." Anyone wants to join me for the hunting process?" She asked and looked at those around the room. Her eyes that were usually lazy now had burning flames of anticipation dancing in them. Her inner huntress was roused from it's sleep. Her Zampakuto was anticipating this as well. This was going to be a worthy adversary and prey!

Shizu Amaya

Seeing the head captain arrive, Shizu stopped her practice and sheathed her sword as she waited for the meeting to begin. Taking a good look at head captain Yakanna, Shizu felt her confused feelings and doubts rising to the surface, though they didn't show on her face. What had it been like for her on that night 100 years ago, what had she known, and where had her loyalties layed back then? ...Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Shizu pushed those unanswerable questions out of her head as the meeting started and she brought herself to attention.

Even if she hadn't been capable of putting them aside right then, the concerning news of the hollows and Vasto Lorde would have caught her attention and cleared her mind in an instant. A hollow of that strength just hiding inside the soul society?! And to make matters more concerning, souls were just vanishing without a trace? The thought of a hollow just walking around when combined with the news of disappearances nearly made her shudder in unease and a slight disgust, especially at the end when the fact that Gillians could be summoned was brought up. It would have been one thing if the two had a clear connection, but with almost no obvious connection existing the situation was made all the more concerning.

The meeting adjourned and their objectives given, Shizu took a moment to continue thinking over what they'ed been told while Myako immediately started asking who would join her in her hunt. Excluding the one within the soul society, which still creeped her out a bit, there were four other Vasto Lorde signatures within short succession of each other. With that kind of timing it could only mean that there was either a plan they were co-operating on or that there was something that drove them to leave Hueco Mundo around the same time as eachother.

But each of those reasons only brought up more questions, and right now it was likely better to act then to mull over the uncertainties. Her thinking done, Shizu put her hands behind her head and turned to Okirigae with a smile. "Would you mind if I paired up with you captain Kiri?"
