Whoever you are, you're bored. Or perhaps you're desperate.

Your world is one you aren't satisfied with any longer. Be it boredom or a desire to escape from your situation, you would take the first opportunity you received to get out of this place forever. Even if it was leaving this world entirely.

And yet, in some way, you are also not a normal person. In some way, you possess some sort of ability that places you aside from others. Perhaps this ability is something that means you're isolated from others because of how you are different. Perhaps it's the reason you want to find somewhere else to live.

Regardless of the reason, you are someone who would freely leave your world, if it meant you were somewhere more suitable, or somewhere you could enjoy yourself better, or somewhere you could escape your current circumstances.

Perhaps it's something that you value more than your very own life.

Whatever the case, whatever the reason, one day you receive a note, addressed to you.

"If you want to escape from this world, if you want to enjoy yourself, if you want your life reinvigorated...

Then come and join us in Nova Terra!"

Below, there was both 'Yes' and 'No'.

And if you circle 'Yes'...

Welcome to the world of Nova Terra!

Shaped like an enormous half-sphere with a livable surface equivalent to the entire surface of the planet of Jupiter, Terra Nova is a world of supernatural creatures and magic! A world where the mythology and fairy tales of other worlds is collected, where creatures from myth and legend walk the streets!

Supported by the Eight Dungeon Pillars, the surface of Nova Terra is divided into thousands of different communities, all with their own unique traits and and people. For example, Wyrm's Hollow is a community populated extensively by lizardfolk, and the community of Mayohiga draws heavily from the mythology of a certain island nation found in numerous other worlds. There is a tremendous breadth of living beings in the world of Nova Terra, and the markets and cafes are filled with a massive variety of different people.

The Eight Dungeon Pillars, too, are strange and incredible. Seeming to support the world itself, the eight pillars each contain an enormous dungeon that stretches all the way to the bottom. They are inhabited with many unusual and dangerous creatures, but also possess many unique resources and treasures. The great dungeons stretch all the way to the underworld, it is said, and no-one has ever seen the bottom.

But it is not simply the dungeons that define this world.

Nova Challenges, competition between any number of parties officiated by one of Nova Terra's game Masters, the draconic nobility. These challenges can be anything, from a game, to a quest, to a battle, and the competitors wager something of their own. The winner claims this wager, and the loser loses it. It can be wealth, or an item, or an ability, or even the loser's very own name. Anything and everything can be wagered in a Nova Challenge. The strongest communities, those closest to the center of Nova Terra, have participated in and won thousands and thousands of these competitions.

And there is one among them...

Once close to the heart of Nova Terra. The Fallen Kingdom, as it is known, of Silver Sun. They were challenged, abruptly, by an extremely powerful Lord of Demons, who created a challenge that appeared possible for them to win.

Pressured into acceptance, they were defeated, losing one of their most powerful members and much of their wealth. They were pushed away from the center of Nova Terra, and certain other communities began to challenge them as well, slowly eating away at their strength. Soon, they were pushed to the very edge.

Even the very fertility of their land has been taken, and many of those who could fight among them have died or been claimed as the prize in a Nova Challenge. All that remains is their name, for a community losing their name is absolute death.

But one of their last remaining members capable of competing, one of Nova Terra's nobility, sent out a letter, to other worlds...

Who will answer?

So as you might be able to tell, this RP is heavily drawn from Problem Children are Coming from Another world, also taking some inspiration from No Game No Life. The player characters will be a maximum of six isekai'd individuals, all from different worlds with their own abilities, as well as natives of Nova Terra. There is no limit to native characters, but I will accept no more then six Isekai'd characters.

Isekai'd champions can be from any variety of different worlds, though they should not be too close to Nova Terra in nature, and I'd prefer if most of them were more or less human. All of them must have some kind of ability. For the most part, I will be judging these abilities on a case-by-case basis, though they can be fairly high-level in terms of power. I don't want all of them to be absurdly earth-shattering or something, and I will not accept mind control, mind-reading, or future sight.

The isekai'd characters have been summoned by a certain member of the desperate community of Silver Sun, to be champions. Of course, they might not exactly know what state Silver Sun is in to begin with...

But how they react to that is all on them.

Well since you wanted to see her, here she is. Still need to work on the backstory, and the abilities may change slightly between now and the final draft when I've had a bit more time to think about things, but this should give you a general idea of what she is. which is a yandere nurse

  • Name: Tsugihara Shiro
  • Age: Currently looks about 14.
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Human (Cursed)
  • Appearance: Quite youthful, definitely short.
  • Personality: Primarily quite polite and composed, Shiro is stand-offish and reluctant to associate with about half of everyone she could possibly meet. The other half she's friendlier with--particularly if she deems them cute or sexy and they're not running in terror, at which point it goes from friendly to "touchy and trying to get into their pants". Although slightly because she doesn't want to be alone and likes warmth, it's mostly because she's a massive pervert, extremely gay, and doesn't have much in the way of impulse control.
  • Abilities: Shiro was once cursed, given as an offering to ward off a vengeful god... and although she's survived, the curse has permanently marked her. The god, after all, was as much a god of snakes and reptiles as a god of health and rebirth, and Shiro carries the physical branding on her back. It also means that she has a lot of abilities related to snakes. The most obvious is that she can communicate with them, summon weaker snakes, and call to any stronger ones that might be around to listen. Both snakes and people also automatically view her as one, to a degree, which is a great help for associating with them... but not with people.
Of course, she can also push the association further, shedding her skin to heal from injuries or reverse ageing, or transform her body steadily into that of a mighty serpent piece by piece. The venom is particularly excruciating.
Fortunately, she can perfectly well survive on raw meat. Unfortunately, anything but meat tends to make her quite sick. Similarly, her body temperature is quite low and she prefers to seek out warmth.
  • Skills: She can start a fire and roast meat well enough, as well as take good care of her clothing.
  • Backstory: It's been a long time since Shiro got stuck with her curse, and as much fun as it is to be that snake in the woods tempting and then sleeping with woodcutters' daughters... well, it's far too lonely, and has way too much hunting for dear for her tastes. Sure she could keep going, but technology is improving and cities are more and more prevalent; the isolated houses where she'd find someone that doesn't mind a snake in human form are a lot rarer.
A new world... a new start... well, that sounds good.
But for Shiro? The more important and more obvious temptation...
... a world with a lot more interesting people is going to have way more cute girls that won't scream in terror.

I'm interested in joining but I have a question.

Question: Of what nature can the six otherworldly characters be? Like do their origins have to within the the same universe as Nova Terra, or can it be across alternate universes, dimensions, planes of existence, and/or times?

Not exactly what I meant. I was more asking to what extent can these other worlds be?
Like could I make a character that has traveled through time? Or one that has come from a world that exists in another dimension?

@Randomness: The other worlds by default are in different universes, but I'd draw the line at timetravel.

So, I have a world hopper character that I like to bring from RP to RP. I'm kinda hoping that that would be okay. Here is the character

I understand if you'd prefer something a little more original, but I like this character and perhaps he might be able to go a little more all out than in the last few RPs he's been in.

@Randomness: Sorry, going to have to decline this. ^^; You can't be someone traveling to different worlds under your own power.

Hmm, I think I under-did myself, and have come up with a rewrite:

  • Name: Shiro, Vessel of the Great Serpent
  • Age: Although currently looking to be a girl of only about 14, Shiro has lived from before the writing of the Kojiki to the Taishō era.
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Human (Sacrifice)
  • Appearance: Youthful and short. That isn't to say that her appearance is normal aside from the colouration; when agitated her eyes become distinctly less than human and her teeth are always slightly... too sharp and odd. Her torso is quite extensively tattooed, originally a clear and unmissable marking of her sacrificial status, but now a better indication of what she carries.
  • Personality: Although seeming quite polite, Shiro can be quite vengeful if spited--denying "sacrifices" in the past was certainly one way to make her extremely irritable. But time has done a lot to mellow her and the serpent out, which has really brought the other things they've always had in common to the forefront... a love of drinking, and a love of girls. Cute girls, sexy girls, elegant ladies, shy ones with nice bodies... Shiro is very open with her affection for all of them. And that's even before she starts working through her prodigious alcohol resistance.
  • Abilities: Shiro is, ultimately, the physical vessel of all the spiritual power of perhaps the mightiest serpent to have ever existed in her world--one could dispute whether the World-Serpent exists, or if Ryūjin would qualify, but otherwise there is little competition. This has a number of effects even when she seems almost completely human: she can talk to snakes, conjure smaller snakes, and call out to any larger or more mystical ones that may exist. But ultimately, people are aware of this discrepancy, that she isn't really that human, even before she sheds her skin to reduce her age or heal some injury, or displays more strength than her body should actually be capable of.
She can freely transform herself towards or away from that full serpent form, growing venemous fangs, scales, or stopping halfway as some form of naga far more able to demonstrate inhuman physical abilities. Or, where size allows, she can become a truly giant snake... and then an even more giant snake... and then an even more giant snake. All the way up to a serpent capable of filling eight valleys and wrapping around eight hills, with eight heads and eight tails.
Atop her snakelike abilities is the possession of the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, usable either by manifesting the sword itself, or simply embedding it in one limb or another. It can direct the wind, augment her strikes with a mighty gale, or just go the fun razor-wind route as the sword gets swung with manic abandon.
  • Skills: Although (literally) monstrously strong and good at surviving, Shiro is not particularly knowledgeable on the specifics of how to fight, or good fighting technique, instead being all about brute force and animalistic instinct. Her use of the Kusanagi epitomises this, treating it more like a sharp club than a sword in any sense. Of course, when you can become a serpent of uncontested size, it tends to work out fairly well.
Her basic survival skills are good, as is her ability to care for her own clothing.
  • Backstory: In Shiro's youth, a mighty serpent terrorised the region, and nobody hoped to oppose it. But the serpent was somewhat intelligent and could be appeased: if families would sacrifice their daughters, then they would be spared its wrath. Indeed, in most regards, could the serpent not be considered no different from the other kami? Perhaps this is how Shiro was lucky to survive, even though already marked for sacrifice, approaching it without fear and displaying a somewhat... unwholesome interest in the serpent's choice of sacrifices. She gained a reprieve and was tasked with being the mighty reptile's messenger, the one to acquire and find further sacrifices, the priestess of such a great monstrosity.
In the end, they over-reached, moving beyond the mere humans to the earthly kami; noteworthy enough that a certain more well known deity was able to trick the serpent and decapitate it, extracting from the body a fine sword... and leaving, of course, the carcass. Dead and harmless were it not for all the fear and reverence it had been accorded and the strength of its spirit. But it wasn't something attached to a place of nature or a concept, and eagerly sought out a proper vessel for itself: the one marked sacrifice it hadn't eaten. Over the many long years, it couldn't be said that a distinction could continue to be drawn between Shiro and the serpent, her similarities were what earned her survival in the first place and after so long... it would not be incorrect to say that Shiro is the Yamata-no-Orochi.
During the many centuries since, Shiro did little that she hadn't been done before, albeit with less human sacrifice involved. She sought out drink and attractive maidens before moving on, bringing ruin to those that would reject or assault her in any way. After the Battle of Dan-no-ura, she took the time to retrieve the stolen sword, and then disappeared into the background of history once again, watching with boredom as the world became less... fantastic, with less supernatural intervention. More organised, with less families remotely on their own to terrorise and court... and trains. Such hazardous things, trains.
Of course she leapt at the opportunity to move to a world where all the fantastic creatures and more were still active; where there were more cute girls to approach directly that wouldn't be so terrified of her appearance.
  • Origin: Isekai
  • Other: Low body temperature, and essentially an alcoholic obligate carnivore who prefers meat raw.
