Name: Hajoong Sunwoo, a.k.a. "Sunha" Hero Name: High Rise Age: 14 Nationality: Korean Rank: 50 Appearance:
Personality: Sunha is a rather talkative fellow, his weight hardly doing anything to keep his mouth shut. Whether talking to himself or to someone else, he always expresses his easy going atmosphere. No obstacle is too tough to give up at, no situation is too depressing to succumb to. He seems almost ignorant to the social ladder that apparently exists, preferring a more cooperating, less competing atmosphere. In general, Sunha is easy to get along with but hard to get to know. He may be a jolly fellow, but that doesn't stop him from being a bit secretive about his life story. He's seen listening to more life stories than saying them. When asked to tell one, he usually tries to change the subject, or divert the question to someone else. But when he does, Sunha usually tells boring, everyday life but in an overly exaggerated fashion. Sunha has a thought that haunts him, to go big. Growing up seeing his parents and his relatives who were among the intelligent people, quite enough to be considered elites, the thought took up a part of Sunha's thoughts. Not to mention his parents telling him about it. He fears he would fail and become a normal person, so he pushes on with a sense of light hearted carelessness.
Quirk: Weight Manipulation Type: Emitter Effect: User can relatively decrease/increase the weight of a target(can be either living or non living thing). The opposite effect with the same relativity. Using this power gradually wears the user out, which means its performance will suffer if the user attempts to use it while exhausted. To affect something, the user must be either touching it or seeing it. The maximum ratio currently is 25% heavier/lighter, with the maximum duration of 1 minute. ex)The user can make a box 20% lighter, which makes himself 20% heavier.
History: His parents were not famous heroes, but they were surely smart. They graduated one of the top universities of his homeland, and used their intelligence to earn themselves a reasonable amount of money(all legal of course). For Sunha's case, his parents wanted him to be a doctor. If he studied real hard he'd make it to the same university and get to live a comfortable life. But the boy didn't find that much brain juice inside him, and decided to challenge something he could invest himself on. Being a superhero caught the boy's mind quickly. Every kid wanted to be one in their early childhood, and he was no exception. The boy had to persuade his parents for it, and faced the expected conflict. The job of a professional hero was too dangerous, too much of a work compared to a doctor. His parents no doubt did not agree. But Sunha didn't give up. If he had to do something big he wanted to do it his way. Finally he got his parents persuaded, under one condition- they won't help him. At all. He was on his own. The boy did what he could with his mind and body, preparing for the school as much as possible. The boy applied to New Heights Academy in hope to pursue his newly established dream.
Exam Report: Points: 2 0 robots were beaten. 1 ribbon was collected. Thanks to his cursed endurance, Sunha was barely able to run throughout the exam, let alone walk. Compared to many who were physically well trained, the boy had a disadvantage of mobility, and hardly had the strength left in him to smash a robot later on.
Costume: Her costume is rather simple at the moment, favouring practicality and function over fashion; a white sports bra and short, similar to the ring attire of a boxer, plain and without ornamentation. She plans on updating this once she decides on a hero name and colour scheme, but the core design likely won’t change; at the moment her only concession towards looking like a hero is a hard white mask in the shape of a kitsune’s face.
Personality: The first impression most people have of Akeno is one of composure and quiet focus, though this of course depends on the context of their first meeting. Above all else she is a hard-working individual who is dedicated to her dream, someone who pushed themselves to excel; as a result she can come across as a little intense at time, but she is also friendly and sociable to those she interacts with.
Akeno has a drive to succeed which means that she always pushes herself to do more, to do better. She expects a lot from herself, sometimes more than she can actually give, and at the same time always sees herself as not achieving as much as she should. She’s harsh on herself, always beating herself up for mistakes and trying to nit-pick or undersell her victories; losses are hard for her but she’s used to them, and while wins are nice they are no reason to stop progressing.
It’s fair to say that Akeno undervalues herself and that she has a self-deprecating view of her capabilities; this leads her to have a competitive streak, insomuch as she doesn’t like to lose and she constantly compares her achievements to those of others. She doesn’t like being outdone by someone, but she never takes it out on the person in question, instead she will only tell herself to set that person’s achievement as her new goal and pursue it.
Although she can be tough on herself, she is generally supportive of others and won’t allow them to be tough on themselves. Instead she pushes others to believe in themselves and to keep moving forward. That being said she is not one to coddle people; it is important, in her opinion, to maintain a firm knowledge of one’s own strengths and limitations so that one can best know how to improve themselves. Harsh truths mixed with genuine compliments are her usual response when asked for her opinion on someone and she’s not someone who ever learned to hold back; she’s exactly as truthful as she would want someone to be with her if she was doing something wrong or needed to improve on something, which can be a little bit much for some people.
Akeno is a sociable person, one who enjoys the company of others but who also values time to herself and doesn’t mind being alone. She’s not exactly outgoing but also doesn’t shy away from social situations, she doesn’t seek the limelight nor is she particularly bothered by it. She maintains a calm, relaxed façade most of the time, her reactions subdued which can make it hard to tell how strongly she feels something even if her exact emotion is easy to decipher; in other words she smiles when she is happy but not broadly, she frowns whether she is annoyed or furious and is only a little quieter than normal when upset.
Quirk: Hothead Type: Emitter Effect: Akeno is able to raise her internal temperature, thereby increasing the heat produced by her body, and in doing so make it so that her skin grows hotter and hotter to the point that making contact with her is painful. Currently this Quirk can increase her temperature to the point that touching her feels like placing your hand on a cast iron radiator that has been on for too long, or sticking your hand under a hot tap; scalding and liable to give a minor burn after several seconds on continuous contact.
The downside of this Quirk is that it can cause her to overheat herself, leaving Akeno feeling lightheaded and even causing her to pass out if she uses it for too long. Additionally, as of right now she is unable to control her Quirk too well, unable to regulate her temperature or limit its usage to a specific part of her body, so it's all or nothing for the moment. However, a side benefit of this Quirk is that she is resistant to both low and high temperatures; cold weather doesn’t have much impact on her as she can raise her temperature to counter the chill and her skin is resistant to heat up to and slightly exceeding her own output, meaning that she cannot burn herself or be burned by something that is as hot as herself.
History: Akeno is tall. She is very tall. A height of 5’ 11” might not seem that impressive to some people, but when you’re 5’ 8” at the age of 13 and are significantly taller than everyone in your class except your teacher, it kind of becomes part of your identity. Along with her height Akeno has always been somewhat gifted athletically, finding it easy to maintain a slim build and having good control over her body; volleyball, basketball, even soccer all came fairly naturally to her and even though she wasn’t as skilled as someone who trained regularly she could make up for some of that with her natural talent and physique.
As a child Akeno was always very active, always playing sports with the boys rather than hanging out with other girls and always trying to keep up with her older brother. She loved swimming especially and the family would often visit the swimming pool in the local gym so she and her brother could swim. When she was 8 her father signed her up for karate lessons after she watched a few too many martial arts movies and expressed an interest, which in Akeno’s case means she wouldn’t stop talking about it until they agreed to let her try it.
It was about a year after this that Akeno first expressed an interest in becoming a hero; although she can’t remember exactly what it was that sparked this interest, perhaps something she had seen on TV or read about, it soon consumed her life. Her karate lessons now became her hero training, she spent hours coming up with costume ideas or hero names and she was always pestering her brother to play heroes and villains with her. While most children went through a phase like this, with Akeno it stuck and as she grew up she began to take it more seriously. She asked to switch dojos to one with a more serious instructor, pushed for more training and looked into hero schools and development programs. The one thing she didn’t do was practice her Quirk, for some reason.
It was still too early for her to attend one of the hero academies however, so alongside her time spend training and dreaming of being a hero she continued to attend a regular school. Once she started attending middle school and she hit her growth spurt it wasn’t long before most of the sports clubs in her school were scouting her out for membership. It was fun for her to be so popular at first and she went along with it, trying out the various club activities while not committing to any one in particular; at this point she was still taking her karate lessons and likely wouldn’t have any extra time for a club anyway, but she still went along with it because it was fun and she might have found one that caught her interest.
Eventually did find one to her liking when she found the school’s wrestling team. By this point she’d been taking karate for years and although she enjoyed it immensely, she wasn’t sure how long she wanted to pursue it once she became a hero. Wrestling was a change of pace, a new way to test herself and a whole new set of challenges to overcome; besides, with the way her Quirk worked grappling was probably a more useful fighting style than just karate on its own anyway, though that wasn’t her first, second or even third thought when she made the decision to join. She was a member of the team for the last two years of middle school before graduating, while she continued to attend karate lessons on the side when possible.
Once Akeno graduated from middle school she was able to begin submitted applications to various hero academies, though due to where she lived and the lack of dormitories at most schools her only real option in Japan was U.A. She was apprehensive about applying to one of the four biggest academies in Japan, but with few options available she did so regardless. However, just as she had feared, she was unable to pass the entrance exam; her Quirk was useless against the robotic combatants and her physical abilities weren’t enough either and she ended the exam with 0 points for combat and only a few for heroic acts.
With her chances of attending the most prestigious hero academy in Japan vanquished, Akeno wasn’t sure what she was going to do until the acceptance letter from New Heights arrived. She had submitted her application on a whim, with little hope of being accepted, but the fact that the school didn’t have a typical entrance exam and the rumours that admittance was random meant she had little reason not to at least try.
It seemed her gamble had paid off. Even if she couldn’t attend U.A., new Heights was almost as good.
Exam Report: The exam at New Heights didn’t go much different to the one at U.A. for Akeno; her Quirk was still too weak to do anything to the robots and she was still unable to score a single point for taking one down in combat. However, this time the added element of the ribbons gave her another chance to score points, but even then she wasn’t able to collect many; time and time again she found herself falling behind those with Quirks that let them move around, always too slow to reach a ribbon, always a step behind. She managed to collect a few, so as not to finish last, but still found herself in the bottom ten students.
Appearance: Kian is currently 155 centimetres tall and eagerly awaits his next growth spurt. He's slim and pale, despite daily jogs outside. His ears are triangle shaped and protruding, giving space for his horns to rest right behind them. His eyes and horns are of similar colours; dark to light blue. Kye has naturally messy, ash blonde hair. The boy is also fairly delicate, possessing slightly feminine features. Kian often slouches and hides behind his bangs, nervousness apparent. Costume: Simple protective clothing, featuring light blue, dark blue, black, and white. It's made from quality material, light, and highly resistant to damage. There is an additional layer of protective padding surrounding his neck and shoulders which relieves muscle strain and prevents his neck from getting broken.
Personality: Cautious but easily influenced. Witty but non-confrontational. Practical, though can be too (self-)critical. Shy, but enjoys company. A thinker and a planner, whose lacklustre physical capabilities often impede his success. Dislikes attention, but craves recognition. Prone to daydreaming or falling to anxiousness, yet determined to try and not waste his own time. Wary of pain, but resigned to effort. A bit of a people pleaser who craves understanding and deep, genuine friendship on the one hand and admires fierce independence as a golden standard on the other.
Quirk: Threaded Horns Type: Mutant Effect: Kian has a pair of segmented keratin horns attached to his head, which he can partially detach from his head, extend them up to a meter and freely manipulate them via a thin (7mm) interwoven fibrous core. These horns basically work like two additional whip-like limbs, which he has full control over. The base of his horns always remains attached to his head, as this is the part which stores a coil of fibre and enables the extension and retraction (or "reeling-in") of the rest of his horn. The detachable part of each horn is composed of seven segments, and these segments can be arranged in several ways: they can all be clustered together together at the end of the fibrous core (like a hooked rope or a fishing line), they can separate from each other while still remaining connected to the string-like core (similar to Bloodborne's threaded cane in its whip form, though obviously less effective), or some of the bottom segments can remain attached to the base while the rest are extended via the cord. The segmented horn pieces cannot be safely removed from the fibrous core; they're stuck to it, and tearing them off hurts.
The largest weakness of the horns is that using them (extending or retracting them, swinging them around etc.) strains the user just as much if not more than using regular limbs for strenuous activities would. They can be used to carry and manipulate small objects, but even with both horns and their respective cores together, trying to affect anything above 10 kilograms would begin to put a strain on Kian (especially his neck is vulnerable). The threaded core of the horns is fairly tough, but sensitive - he can feel touch (incl. proprioception), temperature, and pain through them, which while good for controlling, also means that straining at best results in a physical ache. At worst, the fibrous core gets torn, either because Kian was too reckless in their use, or because an enemy applied enough force to do so. Severing the core or ripping off the extendable part of his horns is enough to knock him unconscious due to the pain it causes him. Both the fibrous core and the keratin exterior of the horn can regenerate within a few hours; faster if Kian consumes plenty of food. In general, he needs to eat at least seven generous meals per day to keep his horns healthy.
History: Kian's parents both had quirks that while very useful in day-to-day life, couldn't be claimed to be hero-material. Even as a young child, Kye had a quiet watchful nature. He compared himself to his parents, because he'd been born with a pair of small horns, which seemed very unlike his father's lizard-like tail or his mother's extendable hair. At four, his horns grew a bit, and in his excitement, Kian stuck them into the wall. When he stepped back, the top of his horn was stuck in the wall, attached to the base by a strange twisty string. Pulling on the string with his hand was very uncomfortable. When he thought fiercely about getting his horns out of the wall, there was a soft whirring within the base of his horns, and the string part brought the stuck horn segments with it, knocking Kian on his bottom when they finally reattached. Like all other kids, he enjoyed playing around with his Quirk. Unfortunately, children are careless creatures, and his playmates often pulled on his horns. Once, some mean bully cut the corded core when Kye's horns were extended, and he passed out. That was when Kian decided he would be very careful how and when he used his Quirk.
Since then, he usually practiced on his own, and did his very best to deflect peer pressure and queries whether he wanted to be a hero - which pretty much everyone did, regardless of their Quirk. Kian secretly admired those confident, boisterous children, but couldn't bring himself to emulate them. Instead, he explored the extents and limits of his Quirk on his lonesome. His progress was somewhat hindered by the growth of his horns; each new segment meant he had to adjust to their weight. The period where his head involuntarily tilted forward because of them was very embarrassing, but Kye eventually overcame it. Extending his horns via their fibrous cores was a daily practice, and he did so often with his eyes closed to attune to the faint sensations the touch-sensitive cord provided. He was too afraid of being mocked or of having too great expectations placed on him to announce to want to be a Hero, and he almost didn't sign up for any of the hero-training academies, but then...Then All-Might stirred his faint hope just enough that Kian thought he might as well give this hero business a try too. His parents were worried at his newly expressed interest, but ultimately supported his decision. He managed to get into New Heights Academy, but that was only the beginning...
Exam Report: This individual showed a capability for strategical searching of an unknown environment, however, his average speed set him at a disadvantage in collecting ribbons; he managed to catch only the one. When encountered by a robotic combatant by his lonesome, the student showed some inspired thinking, tripping the robot and impaling it. However, the strain of doing so seemed too much for him; he was knocked out for the remainder of the competition.
"If you losers can't keep up with me, you deserve to be left in the dust."
Name: Sakimoto, Hiroki
Age: 13
Height: 5' 3"
Weight: 149 lbs
Build:Lean and built, like a track or basketball athlete
Rank: 45
Quirk:Turbine
Quirk Details: His forearms from elbow to wrist are bulbous and expanded tube like structures that look and act like miniature jet engines, open at the elbow and the wrist, his hand going through it as if he was wearing big metal gauntlets. The blades inside of his forearms spin extremely fast drawing in air on the front and expelling it through the other side. If the blades spin the other way, air is drawn in through the back and expelled through the front. This allows him to create a cyclone suction effect that draws in a vacuum of wind, or he blows air through the front with a powerful air blast whatever he's pointing his arm at.
He can dash and fly, but only for a short period of time before his engines stalls.
Description: He has a blue skin tone with red strips across random parts of his body. His turbine wrists appear to be metallic in nature. Hiroki grew up in a competitive family that had deep ties with a hero agency that oversaw Saitama's safety and for that, he has grown up believing that he was going to be a hero. Because of that, he is proud to the point of arrogance. Hiroki's been described as a bit of a hot shot, and a show off. His family didn't discipline him enough even if he did screw up, praising and supporting his ability to jump into action, and this has also given him a bit of a trouble making streak. He believes that he can get away with things that others can't due to his skill and brashness. He's an over achiever when it comes to school, sports, or acts of heroism, and he gets bitter if he's not recognized for his feats. The superiority complex makes him come across as a jerk, a loner, and generally unpleasant.
He's currently in a transition. He recently screwed up. He screwed up so bad that he got others hurt. He realized he can't do this alone, not until he's strong enough to. Despite his propensity to show off and leap before he looks, he's trying to actively take a step back. Become more considerate, tactful. Its a slow going process.
Miscellaneous: Praising his abilities is a great way to get on his good side. His lackeys until now has been more or less his best friends. The opposite is true. Calling him out earns his ire and he constantly believe people are trying to show him up, whether it was their intention or not. He lives in a world of followers and rivals. He needs time to see that sometimes people can just be friends. Music, particularly fast beats and heavy bass get his blood pumping, as is racing. Track is one of his pass times.
Report: Hiroki began the exam with a very strong lead. He actually kicked up dust and stole ribbons from other applicants in order to boost his points, uncaring for things like teamwork or coordination. His drive to win seemed to be his only priority. That changed when he met another applicant whose kinetic energy sapping quirk was a direct counter to his own quirk, this left him practically dead in the water for most of the exam. After the points were tallied, he picked a fight with the one that sabotaged his efforts, pissing off a judge in the meantime. He was almost kicked out of the program before a combination of his parents connections and the endorsement of another judge scored him a spot in the bottom 10.
Appearance Though she stands at a fairly respectable 5’3 for her age, Lyra always wished that she could grow faster, grow taller. Being an Avian Mutant though, means that her bones are hollow and that her body works against attempts to put on muscle or fat on the rest of her body. Mutant that she is, Lyra’s body optimizes her for flight, granting her a whole bag of problems she sometimes wishes she didn’t have to deal with. A high metabolism burns away most of her gains, leaving her with an attractively slim but personally undesirable build. Only the muscles on her lower back and glutes could be considered prominent, and only because those are the muscles that she uses to flap her wings with. These wings, easily thrice the length of her arms, extend out from her lower back and, when not in use, are tucked to form a silhouette akin to a dress.
Beyond her hollowed bones and her wings, Lyra’s nails are naturally black, resembling the talons of a bird of prey, but lacking the hardness necessary to be of any use in piercing or shredding. Her neck is extremely flexible, enabling her to turn her head in directions that would cause others to cringe, and in low light conditions, Lyra’s blue eyes flicker into a gleaming yellow.
Costume Knee-length boots, leather pants, a bomber jacket, a utility vest, aviator goggles, and a parachute are what Lyra calls her costume. Inspired in part by the uniforms of British flying aces, the colors of the costume is rather drab, but she lacks the expertise or artistic sense to change anything up too much.
Personality Lyra is thoughtlessly self-centered, an individual in love with the concept of becoming a hero rather than the spirit of it. She desires the approval of others, but is easily satisfied too; just a bit of attention is more than what she expects most of the time. There is a bit of a pessimistic, defeatist streak inside of her, offset only by the small kernels of accomplishment that Lyra has attained through her short life. Perhaps she thinks she’s being mature by accepting her weaknesses. Perhaps she thinks she’s being smart by focusing on her few strengths. But the cool, distanced way she interacts with others isn’t all that cool at all, not when it comes from the suppression of a yearning to belong, and she certainly could be a bit more of a brat, a bit more ambitious.
But as she is, Lyra’s just happy to have a toe in the spotlight.
On the bright side, Lyra can fly pretty freely, doing all the graceful swoops and dives and spins and sudden stops that any other common bird can do. So long as her wings aren’t damaged and the winds aren’t insane, she can go through the air for as long as her stamina holds, which is usually pretty long. She can also do that weird thing where she breathes in and out at the same time, her hollowed-out bones storing oxygen for her. A bit creepy when she thinks about it too much, but it’s helpful when her human lungs can’t keep up with the demands of her body.
On the un-bright side of things, she has nothing else going for her. Though they may be of denser material than human bone, being hollow still makes it relatively easy for her to break a bone, while her physical deficits means that her human limbs lack in the strength necessary to, say, carry other humans with her while flying, or hurt anything that isn’t made of soft, normal-human flesh. Other mutants can do twenty somersaults in mid-air before kicking through steel plates; Lyra paid for her ability to spurn gravity by being physically below average in every area except for cardio. Which isn’t a problem for any profession, EXCEPT for the Hero profession.
History When Lyra was still young, she thought she would become a phoenix. Her mother, after all, had a fire quirk, and she had already inherited her dad’s mutation of being a bird-girl, so it seemed as if she was destined to be a blazing eagle or a burning hawk. Instead, she was just a normal bird, and her bird wasn’t even that cool. The other kids in class told her that it ate snails and stuff. Gross, really. Only the French ate snails.
Still, being a snail-eating bird-girl who couldn’t set herself on fire wasn’t enough to crush her dream (and the dream of basically every child anywhere in this day and age) of being a hero, so Lyra did what she could. She spent many nights up late, doing heroic research. Like watching cartoons or playing video games or reading comics or browsing the internet. And while it was sorta sad to see random chumps like some ‘Captain Falcon’ being both a bird and a firepuncher, there was still one thing that Lyra could be happy about.
There were heroes everywhere, but only a few of them could actually, truly fly.
She practiced that. She did it for a long time. She lost track of the amount of times the friendly neighborhood police officers told her that her practice was a nuisance to her neighbours and that she should stop exercising her Quirk so freely in a public space. It was a small, silly thing to be proud about, but for the girl who drank milk and curled 5lbs dumbbells every day, knowing that she could fly better than anyone else in class (and better than All Might, who couldn’t fly at all!) was the one thing that kept her going.
Years passed. Her parents were supportively worried, but Lyra remained committed. She sent applications everywhere and anywhere, and though not many fish took the bait, the one that mattered did. New Heights Academy. Didn’t really know anything about the place, of course, but Hawaii was Hawaii! With a small carry-on bag and a whole trunk full of stuff her mom thought was “absolutely necessary” for the dorm life, Lyra headed off on a plane to the place.
Around twelve hours later, she was on the top of the Bot-Ten which, honestly, was a hell lot better than she thought she’d have been.
Exam Report Lyra Winterbourne leveraged her Quirk effectively in the opening stages of exam, her progress unimpeded and unnoticed by any other students due to the bombastic start by Mr. Sakimoto. With her mobility, she was able to acquire all the ribbons placed upon high spots within the environment, but once she accomplished that, she appeared to be either satisfied with that result, or unable to come up anything else for herself to accomplish with the time left. Subsequently, Ms. Winterbourne spent the majority of the exam perched upon a building.
For her lack of long-term planning and disinterest in interacting with her fellow students in any manner, positive or negative, I recommend point deductions from Ms. Winerbourne’s final result.
Name: Kaizen Shinkami Hero Name: The Evolving Hero: Apex Age: 14 Nationality: Japanese Rank: 26 Appearance: A tall and lean young man with long swept back brown hair.
Costume: A sleeveless expandable shirt along with expandable pants. His glasses provide a heads-up display that can store the DNA information of many animals, preventing the need for him to fully rely on his own memory to recall certain DNA combinations. It also shows him which combination he is currently using.
Personality: Kaizen comes across as a charismatic, kind and polite individual among his peers. He can be quite aloof sometimes, especially when he believes its in the best interest for both parties to do so. He is very laid back when it comes to his studies, especially those that involve writing. The only thing that excites him are physical activities that actually posed a challenge to him, which includes fighting strong opponents. He rarely gets truly upset over anything and is always ready to bounce back when he feels defeated. He does well to hide his anger and displeasure around the people around him, only venting it all out against training dummies. He has very low tolerance for unnecessary cruelty and misplaced pride leading to him avoiding classmates who pretend to be superior than others who a ranked lower.
Quirk: Evolution King
Type: Transformation
Effect: Allows its user to modify their DNA, gaining traits of the chosen animal or animals. The user is able to modify the existing structure of their body or grow new parts to replicate parts such as tails, claws and shells.
Drawback: This requires the user to understand the specific genes that are associated with specific traits of animals. As such, the user is limited to traits from animals they have studied. Additionally, each transformation takes energy to undergo, this is especially true for those involving growing new parts. Due to its high energy consumption, Kaizen needs to have large meals each day.
History:
Kaizen comes from a long lineage of animal-based shifters that allows them to transform into various types of animals. However, due to the complexity of his quirk he often fell short in terms of actual performance compared to his relatives, who had more straightforward animal type quirks. During his primary school years, Kaizen was a naughty child who would often play pranks on his friend using simple applications of his quirk. His grades and performance in athletics were relatively average. His family wasn't all too happy about this as they had high expectations for their son. In anger, Kaizen ran away from home leading to him to have a close encounter with a villain that nearly cost him his life, his outlook on life completely changed.
One week before his exam, he had discovered the wonders of coffee, which allowed him to minimize his downtime and continue experimenting on his quirk. With this, he was able to come up with specialized forms that could handle a wide range of situations rather than relying on rapidly changing forms which would expand all his energy. On the night before his entrance exam, he could not sleep due to high caffeine levels. When morning came, he had a hearty breakfast and the strongest coffee he could find, hoping that it would keep him up long enough to get through the exam. It didn't.
Exam Report: This student showed great potential in the first half of the exam. He was able to dispatch a large number of robots with ease and collected enough ribbons to secure a spot at the top ten. However, his sudden collapse led to him losing all his ribbons. According to the medical reports, the cause of the collapse was sleep deprivation.
Misc: Likes to yell "HENSHIN!" before transforming.
Name: Homura Kaijiwara Hero Name: The Huntress Age: 15 Nationality: Japanese Rank: 48 Appearance:
Height: 5'11 Weight: 173lbs Description: A lean athletic build, possessing various scale patches across her body, along with a somewhat beefy lizard-like tail.
Costume: A simple dark blue bodysuit with a flame design, which is capable of adjusting to her size during transformation. Additional accessories include black stretch knee pads, reinforced fingerless gloves, and chunky studded biker boots.
Personality: A short tempered young lady, often choosing violence over peaceful negotiations to settle a dispute. Somewhat selfish and self-absorbed, Homura is generally hostile towards authoritative figures and feels little incentive to follow orders with which she disagrees. She has an unhealthy obsession with winning and reacts negatively to losing in any form. Prompting her to resort to underhanded tactics whenever the opportunity strikes.
Quirk: Kaiju Type: Transformation Effect: Homura's quirk allows her to manipulate the size of her body and transform into a kaiju-like creature, as one would see in Japanese fiction.
Currently, she could only scale up to a maximum height of ten meters. The transformation itself is heavily dependent on angry she gets, so the size often varies in between her base form and maximum form. Still, it's rather small for a self-proclaimed kaiju.
While transformed, she cannot adjust her size at all, she would have to cancel her transformation in order to do so. However, due to the unrefined usage of her quirk, Homura suffers a rather comical side-effect. One of which often shatters her pride as a fighter.
Once a transformation is deactivated, she temporarily reverts to a three foot tall chibi version of herself. It renders her unable to transform again in quick succession. The amount of time spent in her chibi form, is roughly equivalent to the amount of time she spent in her enlarged form.
History: Unlikely as it may seem, Homura was born into a prestigious and rich family. They own a successful support company that rivals the major competitors around the world, but are widely popular in japan. A younger sister to a globally renowned hero 'Crystalys', Shizuyo Kajiwara, the crystal kaiju. Yet, Homura shows no interest in her family's wealth nor does she care about sullying their reputation with her wild behavior. All she cares about is surpassing her sister in the form of a brutal ass kicking and keeping a promise to a close friend.
What annoys her the most, is the fact that her family highly praises the more civilized elder sister, paying no attention to her own successes. This led her to become a troublemaker when she was young and often started fights with anyone who dared to look at her the wrong way. All to shine attention upon herself and establish her own identity, stubbornly refusing to live in her sister's shadow.
Her cousin, Masahashi, was one of Homura's primary targets among the family whenever she wanted to blow off steam. Their relationship had always been rocky, as Shizuyo was responsible for watching over the two whenever she was off duty. It always boiled down to shielding Masahashi from Homura's unglued rage, giving off the impression that she was giving him more attention than her own little sister! On top of that, Masahashi was being groomed to inherit his father's company. Homura didn't care about the inheritance itself, but it angered her to learn that she wasn't even considered to be a potential candidate. Despite how heavily influential her elder sister was to their side of the family.
Adopting an independent attitude, she often sneaked out of the house to do kaiju things. This includes rolling with an unlawful crowd. Specifically, joining unsanctioned fight clubs where quirks were permitted.
Oddly enough, her mother encouraged her mischief behavior, while the father tried to teach her some discipline through martial arts and intensive training. It worked to some extent, but in turn it caused her to become a better fighter and fueled her hatred for her sister. Learning the art of provocation, she bluntly issue challenges to those who catch her eye. Using whatever means to start a fight without being the one to initiate it first, at least from her point of view. Unless of course, her temper gets the better of her.
During one of her matches in an underground fight tournament, one of her opponents suffered a career ending spinal cord injury from Homura's attack. They were closest thing Homura ever had to a rival and best friend. She deeply cherished their battles and memories they shared, but was too stubborn to openly admit it. She wanted to quit fighting after that, fearing that she would make the same mistake again in the future. But, her former rival urged her to keep fighting. Claiming it would be disrespectful to them if she were to give up.
After a bit of sulking and self-reflection, Homura took it upon herself to inherit her rival's dream and become a fighting hero. Her path led her to New Heights, a step closer to her own personal goal.
Exam Report: The exams started out smoothly for Homura as she ended up working together with her cousin, Masahashi. Despite their tense relationship, the two proved they could surprisingly be a fantastic duo. That is until, Masahashi unwisely commented on the side-effect of her quirk. Embarrassed and infuriated, the moment her chibification wore off, Homura relentlessly attacked Masahashi and tossed him around like a ragdoll. Causing unnecessary collateral damage for both parties and penalized their points as a result.
Name: Han Min Hero Name: Cryobreak Age: 14 Nationality: Korean Rank: 7 Appearance:
Personality: Han’s usual characteristic is... laziness. With enough free time given, he spends it by sleeping. He wants to take a break whenever he can, conserve that energy and sleep for whatever he’s gonna do. But other than that, he’s a general nice guy. He looks out for his friends, and won’t hesitate to help them out in times of crisis. Han’s expression hardly changes. His default empty stare and nearly stoic level face is always there for his friends, never betraying their expectations to see it there. He does smile or frown too, but rarely. Everyday life can’t bring enough emotions to change his facial expression. When it does change, it can be quite extreme. Even though it’s hard to motivate this tall frost giant, he does shine when he is motivated. When the situation calls, he can spring into action. His body strength and speed is quite superior compared to his usual sluggish attitude. He’s not the sharpest tool, but he tries his best when he finds the need to. When he was young, Han almost gave his friend a frostbite, a little accident that happened when he couldn’t control his quirk that well. This memory haunts him still, and reminds him of the day every so often. As a result Han tends to hesitate when he uses his quirk to freeze people, making him consciously and unconsciously lower the freezing power so it won’t harm them.
Quirk: Frosty Winter Man Type: Mutant Effect: User can produce cold substance from their body, and gains resistance to freezing to a certain extent. Their body becomes stronger as body temperature drops, but if it goes beyond limit they'll freeze too. The maximum amount of cold substance they can produce before giving the quirk a break is limited. And the colder the substance they are trying to produce, the lesser the max amount. Due to its function, the user also looks deathly pale for somw time after body temperature lowers greatly.
History: Han's early childhood had incidents of his quirk out of control scattered here and there, some small and some big. As his quirk wasn't so strong due to his age and lack of any training, a frosty touch was enough to create a bit of commotion. Once he almost gave his friend a frostbite-a case that still haunts him- and in another case he just froze a whole cup of water. Luckily, thanks to all those mistakes Han learned to control his quirk rather quick, now making sure it won't go out of control at most times. After graduating elementary school, Han started looking for a hero school he could apply for. New Heights caught his interest, as it accepted a small amount of students for its education.
Exam Report: 77 points Han utilized his quirk effectively, enhancing his body to gain enough strength to mutilate the robots. But he spent most of his time running around helping students in danger rather than destroying robots and collecting ribbons.
Personality To call Masahashi as dull as a rock would be a severe understatement. Since childhood he has been raised to inherit his father's company and taught not only by his father, but also by the best tutors money could buy. However, due to his life being devoted to that and nothing else, he has become a rather emotionless fellow and extremely blunt at all times. He can see social cues and can read people to a degree, but since he can't really understand either of them, it all ends up in a mess when he tries to properly communicate with most people.
Quirk Metalbender Type: Emitter Effect As its rather obvious name might suggest, Masahashi's quirk allows him to manipulate all sorts of metals he comes in contact with to a desired shape, or to simply weaken said metal to a degree. However, the rarer and more precious a metal becomes, the harder for Masahashi to use his quirk on them. His near complete lack of imagination also does not help with the more potentially creative uses of his quirk.
History Masahashi was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he was born with the entire silver set of silverware cutlery by his side. Masahashi has had the rather extreme luck of being born to one of Japans richest families as the first son and apparent "heir" of Kajiwara Industries, one of the, if not the actual top hero support companies in Japan, crafting equipment and the like for many of the country's heroes and some even outside the country as well.
And because of that, he was from birth schooled to be not a hero, but simply to absorb all the skills the leader of such a company might need. Empathy, or most emotions really were not part of that curriculum however and as such Masahashi became rather good at reading people, their moods and social cues in general, but because emotions and the like were foreign things to him, he was not able to really put these skills to use all that well.
However, though most people were willing to put up with his rather blunt, machine-like behavior in his life, there was a certain person who didn't care for him at all, even if this person was actually part of his family. Kajiwara Homura, his cousin disliked Masahashi and she often tried to pick on him for entirely foreign reasons as far as the young man was concerned. Only later did he find out that it was both because her own sister, Shizuyo Homura was paying more attention to him than her and because of the fact that his cousin was never even put in line to inherit the company, sending the rather unfortunate message that the girl was unwanted.
After many more years of home-schooling, Masahashi's father, the now aging Kajiwara Takedo realized that his son, as the way he was in his rather emotionless states was in no way fit to inherit the company. So, he rather suddenly decided to have his son join the influential New Heights Academy so that he would be able to learn how to act around other people and to both gain the prestige of becoming both the owner of Kajiwara Industries and a well known hero.
At the same time, Kajiwara Takedo also decided to invest quite a hefty sum into the school itself, for apparently no other reason than just to show his appreciation for the good job the school was doing in raising new heroes.
Exam Report At first, Masahashi used his home-made suit of metal armor to aid him in taking down a few of the smaller robots, using both his suit and his quirk in tandem to help him win against his smaller foes. However soon after the start of the exam, he met up with is cousin who was participating in the exam as well. Despite their differences, the two teamed up and made quite the combo, with Masahashi weakening the metal plating of the robots and Homura smashing them apart.
It would have actually gone quite well, until an offhand remark from the him noting that his cousin looked cuter in her chibi form after her transformation angered Homura and attacked him, resulting in the two actually fighting among one another afterwards, rather than the robots they were there supposed to fight.
Villains beware, you're in for a scare. Do you hear the crows calling?
Name: Desmond Saintcloud Hero Name: Stitch and Sew
Age: 15 | Nationality: Canadian | Rank: 31 (Was held back a year when his quirk manifested, making it difficult for him to walk)
Appearance: Desmond stands tall at over 7 feet, a stature only achieved by his quirks changes on his physical body. Every inch of his skin is living 'hay' or something extremely similar in texture made of living tissue. While they are indeed very tall despite Desmonds age, they can be shorter if they so chose by restructuring their body as they please thanks to their quirk, though it is a far from pleasant experience. Costume: Ragged black clothes, a large brimmed hat, and a ragged straw cape
Personality: Desmond is what the educated may refer to as 'psychotic'. Their mannerisms are often crude, their way of speaking can shift from polite to dismissive to aggressive within seconds based on the topics coming to light. While this is often a problem that creates friction between himself and his peers, it is alarmingly clear that he has others' best interests at heart. They will often put themself in a situation that lets someone else escape. There are other more sinister parts to the scarecrow child that some have noticed as 'concerning'. Desmond has an obsession with the wounded, more specifically the process of needle and thread. To see the wounded literally put back together, one stitch at a time. Now the obvious interest in the medical field of surgery is clearly a good thing for an aspiring Hero-to-be to learn but that obsession coupled with the properties of his quirk has earned him the nickname 'stitches' because they like to sew things together..
Quirk: Scarecrow! Type: Mutant Effect: Desmonds quirk is a peculiar one. The changes to his anatomy from the ground up are a mystery. The most noticable part of his quirk is he is made of straw, with its length, strength, flexibility, every last aspect of each individual strand is controllable though it is taxing to do so. The most major part of Desmonds mutation is the blue slime that acts as his 'organs' or bones, so to speak. Straw is produced through this gelatinous ooze. What is most peculiar is the slimes properties when applied outside of Desmonds body, acting as a replacement to their bone structure and internal organs. The amount of slime Desmond can use up at any given time in miniscule, as it is needed to be converted into straw. When fully used up, Desmond will need time to regenerate the required amount of slime to begin moving again.
History: Scare*grow*ing was a lomg process. Born with a body og straw was difficult to navigate for a child. His body lacked a normal bone structure and it made learning to walk a far longrr process requiring special care as they developed and learned to move unassisted. Desmonds parents were concerned his motor skills were not up to par until he was five, causing them to miss a years worth of school. Now the real meat of his childhood was school life when finally put into it, being something of a scary looking child. Bullying, taunting, threats from teachers concerning his behavior, the usual bag of tragedy that befalls those with a 'villainout look' like Desmond. Even with adversity in their way from the misguided or mistrustful, Desmond tried to be social and friendly until junior high when they began to see videos on the internet of live surgeries. Lacking blood of his own it was fascinating to see and inspired them to use their quirk a little differently. The fascination quickly became an unfortunate sort of obsession. Desmond explains that the precision and life saving application of his straw when made thin enough to be used as thread was the real reason he liked it, but few believe it. Exam Report: Desmonds participation in the exams was nothing truly spectacular to see. Robots were quickly put to the scrap pile through his quirk finding seems in their metal plating and jamming their gears through density manipulation. What was truly terrifying was the scarecrow mans aptitude for 'sewing' himself back together when his reckless charges seemingly endangered their life.
Age: 13 Nationality: America, Land of the Free! Specifically, the city of New York in the state of New York. Rank: 44
Appearance: One could imagine Mark would be a fairly normal guy, if not for his Quirk. One could imagine he'd be fairly light-skinned, and one can tell regardless that he has brown hair on his head, kept short enough to stay out of his eyes, and a fairly decent figure about five feet in height with, if one were to witness them, particularly well-built back muscles for his age. However, if one were not aware of who he was, the first idea of what he might look like would come from his regular shirts, which not only have an extra pair of sleeves underneath the usuals, but two large slits up the back, as if to allow for wings to pass through... and perhaps something else beneath those. Costume: Things only get stranger as one witnesses his costume. Black jeans are simple enough a covering for his lower half, but the upper half could easily be mistaken for part of a knight's plate armour, albeit crafted from titanium and a padded leather lining with a peculiar metallic blue coat of paint over top, alongside further reinforcement of all six limbs - six, as that is the only explanation for the extra arm sleeves and gauntlets. The same slits from before are also present on the back of the breastplate, but part of it is composed of two solid metallic orb-like structures, complete with holes letting air in, as if to allow two small-ish objects to nestle inside with room to freely move about. Most strange is the two-piece helm - the upper half of which seems to be comprised mostly of black-tinted bullet-resistant plastic, solid enough to deflect quite firm strikes, yet covering the majority of the wearer's head with room to spare, especially over the face; and the lower half a facemask of the same metallic blue-coated titanium covering mouth and nose both, strapping on round the back of the wearer's head, but allowing room for... a large metal spike? Hollow, but clearly very sharp... what the hell does the person wearing this need that for?!
Type: Mutant Effect: Mark's Quirk causes him to look very much like a fly - a large pair of transparent insectile wings and a pair of orb-like halteres have sprouted from his back around his shoulder blades; a second pair of arms has erupted from just beneath his armpits; his eyes have transformed into large compound lenses, red with an oil-slick sheen, taking up much of his upper face; most of his body is coated in stiff black hairs, wings and all, with a metallic blue sheen to his skin; and a sturdy proboscis protrudes from between his nose and upper lip, evidently intended to pierce into things.
The primary drawback of this quirk, evidently, is social, given that the vast majority of people will be utterly repulsed by such a visage, made worse by the long-term mental effects of such rejection. The quirk itself, however, is fairly substantial: there is an obvious benefit to wings in the form of flight, something Mark has practiced for a long time to actually achieve the physical strength needed, but this is massively enhanced by his halteres, which essentially act as miniature gyroscopes to pinpoint his position in space relative to other nearby objects, particularly in the horizontal plane, giving him pinpoint accuracy. Further flight effectiveness is achieved by the nature of his eyes giving him a very wide field of view, and the fact that his brain essentially processes the world in slow motion, letting him perceive events that normal people would not react to in time. The potential to detect both infra-red radiation and carbon dioxide emissions is also present in him, though he has yet to discover these properties.
Beyond flight-assisting benefits, his skin is actually somewhat chitinous whilst remaining flexible, and sturdier than one might give it credit for at a glance. Extra arms, evidently, are useful for greater ability to grab or indeed punch things, and can incidentally let him taste objects by placing his hands on them; a power not yet discovered is the capacity to cling to most surfaces by his hands, though he has experienced hints of this through occasional "sweaty hand" mishaps. Lastly, his proboscis is sharp and solid enough to impale flesh, and can both spew out a greenish enzyme-laden acid that is highly effective at breaking down and dissolving proteins, and suck up fluids such as blood and dissolved biomass for sustenance.
Whilst all of these add up to a very substantial powerset, it stands to reason that such extreme physical changes merit obvious weak points. His wings and eyes are large targets, and can be damaged quite easily if a hit lands on them, requiring a fair bit of time to recover from harm; much less obviously, his halteres are extremely sensitive organs, and in fact necessary for him to fly at all: a solid hit to them is debilitating in the same fashion as a kick to the testicles, and if they are destroyed or removed outright, Mark will become utterly unable to fly. Thankfully, he's quite a difficult target to hit and can weather harm to the rest of his body to some extent, further assisted by his costume, but contrariwise, he is in fact very lacking offensively, with just an extra pair of arms and a stabby implement that can spit up acid to his name, and the acid is at present entirely ineffective against non-biological material - a major factor in his initial low rank, evidently. Finally, whilst perhaps a minor issue by comparison, he requires a fair bit of energy to fly properly, usually supplementing a standard diet with plenty of sugar and starch.
Personality: Mark's early life has not been generally easy, and consequently, he developed into a very aggressive person to protect himself. This has not generally helped him to make friends, unsubtle as he is, and in fact it has led to a great deal of problems actually integrating into society over time, to the point of requiring specialised support as a child to acclimate and be somewhat more social in general. He is still prone to sullenness and grudge-holding alike, and might bite your head off with a long rant about how much you suck if you intentionally upset him, but he's at least not likely to hit you with an insult just because you made a comment about his eyes.
That being said, underneath this outer layer of anger is a heavy dose of legitimate loneliness. He knows full-well how his appearance factors in to his social interactions, which contributes greatly to a decent lack of confidence on his part; more specifically, he struggles to let people in even when he isn't taking out his frustration on them, and has had few acquaintances and even fewer friends in his thirteen years of life. Consequently, his hobbies tend to be solo in nature - reading both fiction and non-fiction, computer games, flying practice, and the occasional piece of short fiction, albeit with the level of writing quality one might expect of a thirteen-year-old - but this need to be legitimised has also helped fuel a degree of geniality to those who haven't upset him, and indeed a tendency to help those in need at the drop of a hat. Unusually, he's also gained a degree of knowledge about forging techniques, thanks to circumstances that arose just prior to his acceptance into New Heights.
History: As already stated, Mark's early life has not been generally easy. His father's Quirk, a benign little transformation number he called Bluebottle, mixed with his mother's needle-producing Quirk to produce a setup that seemed only marginally different from the former, save that Mark himself was born looking like a fly, instead of simply transforming into one. The change from Transformation to Mutant rather set the course of Mark's life to be highly negative: despite his best efforts, quite significant smarts, and a name evocative of one of the most well-known public figures in history, he was often bullied in elementary school, with few people willing to talk to him much, and only two other Mutants he could even call friends - and even with them, his behaviour and reputation steadily degraded until they split away for their own sakes when he was about eight.
It was also around this time he first suspected and, with all the gumption of an angry fly child, voiced his concerns that even his parents didn't really love him or even like him. Evidently, loving as they actually were, this was conclusive evidence to them that he needed some form of long-term support, and shortly after, he began seeing a counsellor with quite a positive track record. Between education and therapy sessions, as well as a brief period of time Mark spent on adderall that ended when his parents insisted it was ill-advised, Mark also attended a number of regularly-scheduled groups designed for those living in unfortunate circumstances - say, being part of an impoverished family, or looking like a fly person. Despite everything, these groups did actually help him somewhat, and whilst he never exactly made friends with anybody in them, he could at least talk to them every week or so.
It was one of those children that sparked something resembling interest in hero work - they, naturally, were convinced they'd become a hero, and went on at length about how they'd use their power and how they'd train it every day to get the spot they wanted. Something about that appealed greatly to him - maybe he'd even be liked by people, if he saved them! After getting his therapist's approval, and his parent's encouragement, he began to practice using his powers on a regular basis - part of which was figuring out what flies could do to begin with, before practicing to make proper use of them, including time spent on karate as a martial art, which he excelled in with his enhanced and increasingly-potent precision and slowed temporal perception allowing him to mimic stances and target weak points with ease. In particular, three years were spent furiously flapping his wings on a regular basis, seeming to make little to no progress beyond hovering, only to suddenly take off several feet one morning before school, as it transpired his wing muscles had grown exceptionally strong in the process of all that practice. This power was promptly used to show off in front of one of his bullies, and then to kick said bully in the face for years of humiliation. He maintains to this day that the detention was entirely worth it, even as he recognises the "cool factor" didn't make him any further friends.
Nonetheless, as he grew closer to the typical acceptance age for hero training schools, his father used his connections in construction to get Mark working alongside a local craftsman, helping to forge himself an outfit to enter into heroics with: lightweight, yet tough enough to protect him, and especially to ensure his most important body parts were shielded without being hindered to the greatest possible extent. Both parents also worked with him to start putting applications into as many hero schools as they could, and it was, perhaps, a great deal of good luck that one of those which confirmed his acceptance was within the United States, specifically Hawaii - sun, sand, high-quality education, exclusivity, and he didn't even need a Visa to head there. It pretty much settled the matter: once his last year of standard schooling was over, he headed to New Heights Academy.
Exam Report: Given Markus' flight capacity, and his clear preparation for the exam and future education, it was expected that he would achieve quite positive results. Indeed, his ribbon collecting seemed to go well initially, and he readily evaded most attacks from those robots which targeted him, displaying his Quirk's abilities very efficiently.
However, it became abundantly clear after attempting to help a fellow student in a difficult fight that he was entirely unprepared to fight artificial foes - his fists dealt minimal damage despite targeting weak points, his mouthparts could barely scratch the surface of any metal surfaces he attempted to puncture regardless of its extra reinforcement, and he seemed to shy away from most such fights as a result, panicking when forced into them. Even when he succeeded in puncturing the joints of the one robot he managed to defeat, the acidic substance later found in its systems had hardly corroded the materials at all despite clear danger to biological matter; the machine's disabling was largely due to a combination of physical tearing and short circuiting. Furthermore, he was unfortunate enough to be targeted by Hiroki Sakimoto partway through the exam, being disoriented and grounded by the fellow trainee's Quirk, and losing most of the ribbons he had collected up to that point, leading to reduced performance for the remainder of the exam due to apparent frustration.
It is hardly fair to suggest that Markus is incompetent, nor that he would not be capable of succeeding as a professional hero. Certainly, the theft of so many ribbons so late into the exam could be called "sheer bad luck", given the presence of a Quirk that almost directly countered his own. However, the rules of the examination are clear: preparation to defeat any foe is key, maintaining the right mindset is equally important, and luck must always be a factor considered in a real scenario, though points are given for helping another student without question. Regardless of his starting rank, Markus will have plenty of opportunities to prove himself more effectively throughout the remainder of his education, and we expect that he will rise to match his potential accordingly.

PERSONALITY
Leo is noble and physically overbearing, forgoing pragmatism and acts according to his own impulses. While he is wild and somewhat inconsiderate to others, he is always jovial, values friendship highly, and he holds to a strong 'pride' mentality of which those who he's close to are a part of. When angered, he teeters on a fine line between being a civilized person and wild animal, sometimes letting his feral instincts get the best of him. Also, he lacks near all senses of personal boundaries, there being more than one occasion he goes wherever and whenever he likes.
HISTORY
Let no one ever tell you that Leonard Arthur Dempsey would ever trade his Quirk for someone else's. Never in a million, billion years. But would he admit that growing up with lion cub heads for hands was strange? Maybe but Simba and Aslan were his two best friends and what kid wouldn't want to have their pets go wherever he went. Being born the youngest of a busy family of twelve, Leon was doted on by all his older sisters and mom, getting even more spoiled being the only son after eleven daughters total. He was raised on bedtime stories of heroes, and as a lion the most heroic of beasts it was only natural for him to become a Pro Hero!
But this new dream wasn't without challenge set in place against Leon, already someone who has to work many times harder than the next kid just for the simple task of picking up a pencil in his hand. Academics was something that'd seem to always put a stopper to his heroic aspirations, why stay at all inside a classroom when all three would rather enjoy lazing about under the warm sun? Despite this he would persevere through, damned pencils and pens and all, and Leon now finds his path leading to New Heights, his first step to becoming a true hero to match his wild nature.
QUIRK
Lion Hands | Mutant - Leon, in place of normal hands, has two sentient lion heads that can act independently of him and each other, like letting out the King of the Jungle's mighty roar!
EXAM REPORT
Exam Report: Leon got off to a good, strong start with him taking down a few odd robots before Simba chipped one of his teeth bad on the metal armor of a two-pointer. At which point he ran off impulsively to get him looked at and in the process, running down more than one testee who happened to be in his way.
Evelyn Pryde
Pink Hero: Powerpuff Rank 6
"You should ask me out on a date so we can talk about heroes all night long!"
NAME
Pryde, Evelyn Ruth
GENDER
Female
AGE
14 - May 4th
NATIONALITY
American
APPEARANCE
Height: 5'3 | 9'
Weight: 117 lbs
PERSONALITY
Evelyn generally has a very bubbly personality. She is out-going and sometimes acts flirty, especially with people who share her passion for heroes. She has a romantic vision of love, and has fallen for many different people more than one could count. But still, she is very serious about what it means to be a hero, perhaps even more than some heroes themselves. She is normally very cheerful and bright but can get easily agitated by the smallest things.
HISTORY
Evelyn was born into tragic circumstances, made an orphan when her mother passed away only moments after giving birth and a Pro Hero father who never intended to be in the picture. Yet her story needn't be defined by its beginning, shortly after a couple of missionaries would adopt the newly born infant into their lives and strove to give her a warm and deserving home. Sooner than one would expect, she had grew into a capable, young woman with dreams of becoming a hero, either to draw a connection to the biological father she never knew or live up to the teachings her true parents had instilled in her. And now she finds herself, bubbly personality and all, at New Heights where she hopes to become a truly inspiring hero... and maybe grab a couple of cute dates too!
QUIRK
Armor | Emitter - Evelyn is protected inside a nine foot-tall, pink psionic exskeleton armor, with it she towers over most people and is safe from most forms of physical attacks! Too bad it only disappears when she falls asleep though.
EXAM REPORT
Exam Report: Within the safety of her armor and wielding its mighty power and strength, Evelyn towered over many of the robotic automatons and found it a simple task to bulldoze through many. As for the ribbons, the task of finding them being nine foot-tall and all was challenging and collecting them even more so but once she did, her armor protect her and disabused many of the idea of even trying to steal from her.
Name: Kaison Locke Age: 14 Nationality: Canadian Rank: 33 Appearance: Personality: Adventurous, light-hearted and nonchalant, Kaison tends to not take things seriously, to the point of appearing distant or insensitive in serious situations. He has a flawless poker face in the form of an unfaltering smile and a stoic disposition hiding any troubles he may or may not have. Although he leans towards idealistic, he has a strong sense of responsibility, even if he otherwise seems frustratingly apathetic. Loves various forms of escapism. Quirk: Animation Type: Emitter Effect: Kaison is capable of animating any drawing created using his blood. Even if drawn as two-dimensional, it will use whatever material it was drawn on to form the basis of a three-dimensional body with Kaison's specifications. Although it doesn't damage the material it originated from, If the material is not malleable enough, they will be unable to take shape properly, and the animation will fail, stopping partway. The sturdiest material Kaison can reliably animate on is Layered Card Stock. (Used in business cards or postcards) He's successfully animated cardboard before, but it tends to take a couple of tries, and the stiffer the material, the stiffer his creation, so the practicality is limited.
His creations are autonomous, though the nature of their behavior is decided entirely by Kaison during creation. This includes any personality, motivations, or potential for growth they have, should Kaison see fit to assign them. Once created, they cannot be altered, though they are able to revert back into a drawing if they are on identical material, and can be forced to do so by Kaison. Kaison is unable to alter the nature of pre-existing creations, only able to redraw missing parts and then reanimate them.
Kaison's creations are able to visually animate themselves regardless of how they were originally drawn, letting them physically move in ways Kaison did not explicitly design. However, they are not able to change the makeup of their body, meaning they can't shape-shift into paper planes and back, grow a tail, or do things their material isn't capable of. If a paper drawing was given wings, it could use those wings to fly. However, the same drawing on a thicker material like cardboard would fail to keep itself aloft. If a paper drawing tried to lift something too heavy for it to support, it would rip before it succeeds.
Kaison can impose limitations on a drawing during creation to prohibit them from attempting to exert more force on their body than they can handle, though since they can tell when an object is too heavy for them anyway, there's not much of a point. If one of Kaison's creations loses the majority of its body, it will revert into pieces of paper, and cannot be restored. (Although it can be replicated)
Kaison can only maintain a total of 10 creations. Were he to animate an eleventh before dismissing another, their body would form, but they'd remain an inanimate object. They cannot animate after the fact, but Kaison can return the body to a drawing and then reanimate it from there. History: Kaison was born to a highly successful businessman and his beautiful wife. When Kaison was only two years old, his mother died giving birth to his younger brother. Consequently, his father developed depression and a drinking problem. Due to his young age, he was never familiar with his mother, and his relationship with his father has always been impersonal. His father threw himself upon his work, only to drink whenever he came home. Even so, his father was a drunkard; not neglectful, and he and his brother were generally raised by a series of babysitters and nannies. Their father never really made more time for them than necessary, so they had a lot of time, growing up, to just sit around and play games with each other. Although they had their fair share of video games, they spent most of their time on roleplaying games. Kaison had the same quirk as his mother, and being able to animate the action went a long way towards making storytelling more compelling. As the years passed and his father transitioned from drinking to dating, eventually just telling stories wasn't enough. Kaison wanted to write his own story, and what better story to write than one of a pro hero? The life of a pro hero is full to the brim of action and suspense, as fantastic a scenario as he could reasonably ask for, worthy of being recorded and proliferated...
Well, perhaps that’s just wishful thinking.
Regardless of what the future holds, he figures there's few better potential paths than New Heights. Exam Report: Kaison sent out several animations to scout out and collect ribbons from the surrounding areas. He was able to cover a wide area and avoid confrontation with other students and robots this way, though little by little, his drawings would fail to come back, slowing his progress.
His end result is fairly average, though the loss of so many drawings so quickly was devastating. He hadn't made enough in advance, he believes, nor expect them to be taken out so quickly, thinking they could rely on stealth.
Nationality: South Africa (Slight French accented)
Age: 14
Rank: 13
Appearance:
Quirk Name: SNAPPERS
Quirk Type: Mutation
Description: The user’s body has sprouted a number of bulb shaped growths that resemble the bells of the venus fly trap. The user currently has five of these bulbs, two on her head, two replacing her hands, and one a tail like appendage. Each bulb has a mouth of sharp teeth and a long dexterous tentacle like tongue to seize prey. Bite strength is currently weighed at 3000 psi (roughly a hyena bite) and ‘teeth’ are constantly being replaced as needed. Limited growth and cellular swelling does provide for additional reach past what would be expected. The arms can reach three meters with the tongue extending another three meters. The user is also capable of secreting strong smells defined as attractive or repellant.
Complications: The bulbs themselves have very limited autonomy and can move and bite on their own accord, particularly when the user is not paying attention. Common counter measures are muzzles, chew toys, and dog treats. The growths on her head are the most untamed while her hands are the least. The user also has two mouths and tentacles instead of hands, making it difficult for some manipulations. The user’s body is more plantlike then human, with skin lacking pigmentation and thus looking black in color. Sunlight, water, and certain nutrients are very important for continued health.
Personality: To be honest, if Amy had her way, she’d still act like a happy cheery girl for as long as she can. She knows she needs to grow up sometime but is just trying to enjoy it while she lasts. She tries to be approachable, knowing full well that her weird features probably end up pushing people away. She’s been bullied for it, she caused her parents nothing but trouble, but she hasn’t given up yet. She wants friends, she wants attention, and most importantly she wants to help.
This drive is because she has alot of deep guilt. Even as a kid her quirk has caused alot of trouble for her already struggling family. She tries to not let it affect her every day life but it does lead to a selfless kind of lifestyle. Her natural generosity can be taken advantage of, as her drive to help and for positive attention has led her to pursue actions that she probably shouldn’t have involved herself in.
Her motivation for being a hero is a combination of proving that she’s a good person, wanting to help people, and mostly trying to help her family. If she can earn money, maybe she can repay for everything her parents did for her.
History: Amahle comes from Bloemfontein South Africa. Not the greatest most luxurious city and most of the people there were lower income earners. She inherited her quirk as a combination of her mother who had palm leaves for hair, and her father who had a set of mouths on his legs and shoulders. Neither were particularly powerful, but they were decent hard working folk, a mentality their three kids all learned.
Amy is the middle child, and her quirk really caused her family alot of trouble and financial hardship when she was figuring it out. Without hands she was considered disabled which meant the family had to get more expensive medicine and aid. The snapper gobbled up food, knocked over items, and bit people and pets. She lost count how many times her family had to apologize for her. She got into the same kind of trouble at school, a combination of misbehaving and bullying made this exceptionally difficult for her.
But she couldn’t ask for a better family, who always encouraged and forgave her. She held such guilt and gratitude that became hardworking contributing member of the community, never complaining if she had to work the poor little family shop right after school. She spent her early teens looking for a way to repay them, help them. She wrote out application after application for school to accept her for their Hero Program. She knew it was the best way for someone like her to get real money, and help out others.
New Heights gave her that opportunity.
Exam: Her score in the exam actually wasn’t too big and in a numbers game she’d be middle of the road, but her snappers did great work at doing some damage to the bots, taking ribbons, and most importantly, helping some other contestants not getting hurt. In fact she seemed to prioritize others. There was a point where all five of her snappers were on five separate robots and she decommissioned three of them at once before dealing with the other two. She was on her A game that day and the school was really impressed with her.
Costume: Jamie's costume appears to be a mix of a combat medic's uniform and a celric's robes, giving them a "battle angel" kind of appearance while keeping their black and white color scheme, with little hints of gold here and there.
Personality: At first glance, Jamie comes off as rather stoic. But that can hide the fact that he can be a selfless and kind person, putting other before him. They tend to avoid any conflict, yet don't tolerate anyone they care for being pushed around. And it's hard to break his calm, laid-back demeanor, even in battle. He'd usually the person to come to when someone needs to calm down, and he tends to hide the fact he's a big nerd.
Though no one really dares to make the healer angry.
Quirk: Heaven's Cure Type: Emitter
Effect: Whether it's an ailment or an injury, Jamie's quirk allows him to heal anyone's wounds with a golden light (think Curaga, but more subtle), given they still has the energy for doing so. A passive quirk like this gives them a bit of a disadvantage, since they've yet to master it even.
Depending on how bad the wound is, theres a chance for it to transfer to Jamie instead. Even if he can heal themself, how long it takes can be slowed, like if they were poisoned for example.
History: Compared to others, Jamie's life has been pretty normal. Well, normal for an orphan. He never knew who his parents were, or where he got his quirk from, but he never dwelled on the thought. They were sort of an outcast for a while, till they grew into a habit of helping anyone injured, or stopping fights before people were hurt. Sadly the latter didn't always work, resulting in Jamie getting hurt himself. He became a sort of caretaker for the other kids, but when did he become interested in becoming a hero?
Admittedly, they were persuaded to try and become one, despite their quirk being more for someone on the sidelines. But for a while, Jamie took up an interest in studying heroes, in a more scientific route. From the damage output of attacks, to the side effects of some quirks. Then the thought crossed his mind. That maybe they did need someone like him out there to help.
So Jamie ended up applying for New Heights the first chance he got. He was surprised when he was accepted, but wasn't sure how he will manage in the exam. So they had an idea, focus on the ribbons, help anyone who got hurt in battle. Not even he expected to make it in, and somehow Jamie got into the bottom ten.
Exam Report: Though avoiding confrontations with any and all robots, Jamie Whyte instead assisted the rest of the students during the exam with his healing quirk. He did get a few ribbons while doing so, but it was a surprising act of kindness, nonetheless.
Personality: Amelie is, at heart, a coward by no stretch of the imagination. She dreads pain, both dealing and receiving, faints at the sight of blood and gives up easily when in a hostile encounter. While others around her are quick to act and get into the thick of the action, Amelie is scoping out the places which seem safest to wait things out. She's easily frightened and upset, especially if strangers or people she barely knows. Though she does seem to be a little more comfortable when by the side of her childhood friend Masahashi, though that's more her trying to clean up the social messes he finds himself in.
For the daughter of a maid, who even learned how to become a maid so as to be more useful to her childhood friend...Amelie is terrible at housework and such. Her klutzy nature means she messes up even the simplest of tasks. She is probably more useful for fixing things that she breaks than doing the actual tasks that lead to said breaks.
The girl is also very much a technology nuffie, constantly reading up on the latest inventions and can be found reading manuals or other related material to learn as much on machinery and the like as she can, in case she ever needs the information for her quirk or ideas on how to use it.
Despite her rather...faint of heart nature, she has an innate desire to protect others despite her own short-comings and strives to become a hero to not only protect others but to also overcome her own spinelessness and gain the courage to face her (many) fears head-on, idolizing All Might and especially being motivated by his final stand.
Technokinesis: Emitter Type Quirk
Effect: Amelie was born with that gave her the ability to manipulate machines/technology. Have a broken smartphone? She can fix it. Need someone to stop a rampaging robot? She can stop it, but probably not willing or wanting to. Bunch of broken/spare parts of a machine(s)? She can probably fasten something together given the time.
Her control over machines basically boils down to simple commands or orders, if she's controlling a group she cannot give them separate orders, the group more moving like a hive and she's the queen. While repairing, she needs constant contact and sufficient time to complete the task, a phone taking no time at all while a large robot could take hours to finish depending on the damage taken/repairs needed.
However, every time she uses her quirk, she will slowly grow weaker depending on the task she has completed. Once she reaches a certain threshold, she'll become like Megumin from Konosuba, unable to move for a time and be basically helpless. Well more helpless than usual.
History: Amelie was born to a family of commoners working for the Kajiwara family, her mother as a maid and her father as IT support. Both were born with tech-related abilities, her father the ability to find and fix problems within computers and the like, her mother the ability to control little mechanical puppets her father made. She manifested both quirks a little later than most, at the age of 5.
She and the young heir to the Kajiwara family had almost grown-up together, being of a similar age and her parents working for his allowed for her to visit him rather frequently to give him much needed social interaction, though unlike him the younger girl attended an actual school and thus was able to interact with people other than who his father approved he see. Though even as they grew up, she visited him often, generally whenever she could. They would often play together, taking a fond liking to maid and master in the same vein as her mother and his father.
Her mother and father raised her to be brave, stand up for what you believe and always try to do the right thing. For years, she stood firm to the beliefs ingrained in her from her parents...however, that all changed when she was ten years old. She had never been popular at school, often picked on or made fun of for her heterochromia or from those who were jealous that her parents worked for a family like the Kajiwara. But she still had what she felt was a tight-knit group of friends, people who would watch out for each other no matter what. How wrong she was.
One day, she and her friends were coming home from school when a group of older kids began to harass them, singling out a girl with cat ears to be the target for most of their tormenting. Having enough, Amelie tried to stand up to the bullies, grabbing one of their phones while they were holding it and overloading it in their hands to give them a rather shocking experience. Outraged, the older kids turned on Amelie while her friends turned tail and ran. Amelie barely escaped, though her favorite blouse was torn, cat-girl's tearful apology and their little groups' safety made it worthwhile.
It wasn't until later she would come to regret it, wondering if there had been another way to deal with the situation... A few days passed, and she and her friends decided to meet up on the weekend. They did it rather frequently, so neither she nor her parents thought much of it at the time, but hindsight is always a funny thing.
Long story short, her friends sold her out to the bullies and she got beat up.
After that incident, along with being singled out at school, she dropped out and was home-taught by her mother for awhile, afraid of reaching out to other children her age besides Masa. She had even been assigned as his ‘maid’, to keep her busy and out of trouble more than anything else, before his father decided to enroll him at New Heights Academy, the girl soon following suit.
Exam Report: During the exam, Amelie took control of a few of the robots for the exam, never actually 'defeating' any in the process and only doing so after they had her cornered while giving chase to her over the entirety of the exam area. Once she had control of a handful of robots, she got them to collect ribbons while she hid. However as she began to poll a fair few ribbons, her robots were destroyed by the crossfire of the fight between Mashashi and Homura. Unwilling to come out of hiding, she barely finished outside the Bot ten, only finishing that high because she managed to scrap enough ribbons together.
Age: 15
Nationality: Land Down Under
Height: 5'7/170cm
Rank: 9
Personality: Stephanie is a typical Aussie larrikin, speaking in a manner many believe to be rude or informal. She isn't a fan of sitting around doing nothing, always having to be on the move. She cares little for rules that don't suit her needs at the time, more than happy to bend or outright disregard them if a situation calls for it. Her rowdy, outgoing nature can be offputting at first, as can her thicccc Australian accent and usage of local colloquial terms making her seem incomprehensible at times.
However, if one can get past the somewhat aggressive, but not hostile, first impressions, they'll find her to be a passionate girl with a reckless streak and hunger for thrills, which she satisfies either by fighting or other means. She cares little for her outward appearance, favoring comfort over what's in fashion and will shamelessly walk around in just shorts and singlet.
Her pet hate, however, is to be treated like a girl, or what that would imply. She hates the idea of people thinking she's weak or needs to be protected, all because of the fact she wasn't born a guy. This combined with her hot-headedness and recklessness has landed her in hot water on more than one occasion with the principal.
Unlike others in the top ten, she doesn't look down on others depending on rank or quirk, letting their actions and behaviors be her judge on whether to like a person or not.
Sun for all
Solar Power: Emitter, Accumulation Type Quirk
Effect: Stephanie operates effectively as a walking solar panel and battery rolled into one. Her skin absorbs the sunlight around her, turning it into potential energy that she stores within her own body for later use. Using this energy storage, she is capable of enhancing her physical abilities, to a level comparable with Captain America, and can condense them into 'sunbeams', aka laser-like attacks of varying size depending on the amount of charge allocated. She is also capable of glowing/making a bright flash, allowing her to light up dark or dimly lit areas. She is noticeably stronger while exposed to sunlight, meaning she's weaker when fighting indoors or at night, however.
The downsides, of course, include that she cannot charge her quirk at night, meaning she needs to do all her charging during the day or risk running out. Another is that she can overheat or burn herself if she overdoes things, or overcharges herself. Also when low on charge, her usual outgoing, and boisterous nature is greatly diminished as well, as she enters her 'power saver mode'. History: Born into a large family, Stephanie is one of 13 children and the only girl. Having grown up with 12 older and younger brothers meant she took more to masculine rather than feminine things easier, more than happy to rough-house, get dirty or simply getting into trouble. When her quirk first manifested, however, she almost burned down her family home by magnifying sunrays through her fingers, like playing with a magnifying glass....but 10x more potent. She continued to mess around with her powers, even using it against her siblings when they rough-housed till eventually, they stopped wanting to play with their 'cheating' sister.
She first got a taste for fighting however when she first started attending school, gaining a reputation for a trouble-maker and initiator of many a fight. In her first fight, defending another girl from some bullies, she knocked a kid flat out cold...the rush of taking on their angry friends one by one, dodging punches, kicks, quirks...rumours go that she beat all ten of them up single-handedly, a grin on her face all the while not taking a single hit. Her reputation only grew as she did too, however not a single kid who she beat up had the courage to get her expelled for fear of retaliation.
Eventually, she started growing bored of beating up schoolyard bullies and weaklings and turned to the streets. Picking off muggers and the like gave her a taste of what adults could dish up....which ultimately disappointed her. Her brothers too had disappointing quirks and abilities, so they were a waste of her time. She even joined some underground fighting ring...but she too grew bored of that rather quickly. Once again, small fry was found and beaten. She needed something more challenging, something better.
So the chance to join New Heights Academy, become a hero and fight villains for the sake of the world? Well, she was already on the plane there before anyone could explain the details to her.
Exam Report: Stephanie breezed through the exam, for the most part, destroying robots for fun and collecting the odd ribbon along the way, though she seemed to rather fight for the ribbons than outright take them. The main thing that held her back from a higher mark, however, was her...over the top way of fighting the robots. She dealt as much damage to the exam area as all of the robots combined, hitting both target and supposed allies alike in her no-nonsense, no punches held attacks, her reckless nature endangering others and dropping her ranking as a result. Also as the exam wore on, her power seemed to drop off as her charge got lower and lower.
