Height & Weight — 5'6 & 125lbs Body Type — Athletic and toned || Phoebe's body is what most might call on the verge of being ripped -- at least as ripped as one who is also agile could be. She has defined muscles, very little fat but also curves where it counts. Her chest is almost flat and she has a somewhat slim waist. Fashion Style — Feminine edge. || Growing up, she was used to dresses and traditionally Chinese attire, but on the run, she traded that in for a lot of black and loose clothing: Hoodies, flannel, bandanas for when she needs to cover her face, knit caps, combat boots, fingerless gloves, oversized jeans and pants, leather jackets. Makeup-wise, she is heavy on eye-liner and dark tones. || ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 Everything about Phoebe Chang can be summed up in the five F’s: fast, feisty, flirty, fierce, and fucktaculous. Phoebe has always prided herself in never taking no for an answer and letting no man, woman, or child control her. She is a free spirit who flies when she feels like it. Growing under a strict thumb while having an avid love for leather-clad women who take no shit from anyone. That was something that resonated with her and in a lot of ways, it helped defined who she is now. She will be just as likely to send you home with a good time (sexual implication pending) as she is to kick your ass if you press the wrong buttons. Likewise, she has a mouth on her and sometimes uses that superpower for evil. She can be persuasive enough to recruit some kindred spirits for a quote-unquote “helluva good time, alcohol recommended”. Phoebe has a problem with authority and will always question it. She doesn’t like to think of consequences because what fun is that? She lives for the moment and nothing else. If pressed to follow an order or respect some chain of command, this is when her nasty side comes through. Being no stranger to getting punished by authority figureheads who never understood her, she’ll push back until a confrontation happens. And in that case, if she feels daring enough, which she nine times out of ten does, Phoebe will throw the first punch (or spell depending on the level of her pissed off meter). Just... be wary of her. She’s a lot of fun but she doesn’t know when to end it nor how to define it for others. Either you’re with her or get the buttfuck out of her way. 𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙘 𝘼𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 Vibration Magic The common mistake that people make when they think of vibration magic is that it is an offshoot of earth magic and likewise that it is one of wind magic, too. This isn’t necessarily wrong but there are a few technicalities that often go overlooked. Yes, it is true that one may be able to apply to some level of earth and wind magic usage, but in Phoebe’s case, it is a lot more complicated than that. Phoebe specializes in something known as Seismic Vibrations, but in her case, instead of manipulating the dormant seismic magic within the earth and its crust, Phoebe herself is the seismic magic source. Within her is a dormant seismic magical energy that she can draw from for a myriad of uses. By sending seismic pulses through her feet, she can sense up to seven yards in either direction. With her hands, she can send seismic waves to cause destruction on an object or a person (if it came to that). This done by channeling her magic into her palms and unleashing the stored magical energy in the form of barely visible waves of sound-like magical energy. She is also able to apply it through the means of temporary seismic flight, though in her case she has only managed to propel herself into super jumps. As great as her feats are, Phoebe is still quite young and the development of her abilities have not quite peaked yet. She tires herself out easily by using too much of her power. Though she can be a person of focus, sometimes her cockiness makes her overexert and if she tries to expel magic from her being fatigued, it will backfire on her and cause damage to her arms and legs. It’s in her nature to overdo it and she fatigues easily. Additionally, her skillset makes it to where she can only use 2 of her sub-abilities at a time or else the possibilities of fatigue increase. Martial Arts Training Due to her upbringing but specifically her parents being adamant about putting her through the ringer, Phoebe has been forged into a hand-to-hand killer. She never has killed anyone of her own volition, but with a few black belts in Wushu, the potential to deliver one-hit killblows exists inside her. To be honest, she doesn’t like to kill but she has kept up on her training as much as she could. Something about it brings her peace of mind. Weapons Training Another “gift” from her parents. She trained with a myriad of weapons, though the ones that stuck around were short swords. Still, again, not her preferred form of fighting. Peak condition Both life as a slave daughter and on the run has enabled plenty of time for Phoebe to work on her cardio. She might not be able to slam in buildings with a single punch, but she can run a 5K in record time and she can last in hand-to-hand combat longer than most. Might even rival Salem, which is something Phoebe wants to find out for herself. Adaptable Due to her life on the run, Phoebe gained some valuable skills in being able to think on the spot. Change doesn’t effect her like it would most, which makes her ideal for cover missions. She can talk her way out of just about any situation. Of course, she has her own limits and sometimes her personality flaws bleed into this. 𝙃𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 Phoebe hails from an old family. And when we say old, that’s not an over-exaggeration. The Chang family, though in its name they don’t strike you as one who might descend from greatness, they actually have their roots back to the Ming Dynasty. For generations, the Chang family has built a secret organization that, when you strip it all away, is the ruling figure of China, and everyone who thinks the president rules things just proves how good the Chang family is. And for generations, they have molded some of the best and often regarded as the most powerful mages who never made waves. Their real secret comes from the way they can keep their powers a secret. Always ready to use their abilities but never doing so. They blend in and rule from the shadows. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t worked to death. Every member from every generation of the various branches of this Amazon Rainforest-sized family has all been trained in both mortal and magical arts. They have all experienced the trials that every member goes through. Phoebe isn’t any different. In fact, she is the only one of her generation that has shown the potential for any sort of fighting ability. Phoebe was born to the name Phoebe Eloise Chang. She was born on the fourth month of the eleventh day of the 1998 Year of the Tiger. She is the youngest of four children to Lee and Mei Chang. Both of her parents are magic-inclined. Lee is a geomancer who specializes in thermal magic and her mother is a sound-based mage with a focus on manipulation of airwaves. Her older siblings include two older sisters, who are twins, named Wendy and Heidi who were born in 1994, both of which are clairvoyants with varying abilities that pertain to premonitions. Meanwhile, her older brother, who is likely regarded as her closest friend and just two years older than her. His name is Apollo. Like his namesake, he is a mage of the light arts. His powers are mainly used for illusionary purposes. Phoebe always stood out of her siblings for a lot of reasons. She was more rebellious than they ever could be. She challenged her parents’ tyranny that they called parenting. Of course, this always came off as her being disrespectful and disobedient, but her parents also recognized this as her having a fire that none of their children possessed. Being the types that followed tradition in every sense of the word, both Lee and Mei singled out Phoebe for all sorts of training from an early age. They recognized the signs that she would become a powerful mage in her own right one day, but she would need more than just raw magical power to be a force unlike anyone has ever seen. Because of that reason alone, she underwent years of physical, mental, psychological, and borderline abusive “training”. All of those times spent with instructors and faced with stress-inducing changes, though she never wanted to be subjected to it ever again in her life, as she grew up and became a mage, Phoebe didn’t necessarily regret mastering certain skills. When she got her mark, it was something incredible. The mark was supposed to be the representation of your soul, which made a lot of sense because Phoebe had grown up hoping to fly to the moon so her parents could never find her, but she never got close to it. So when the day her mark manifested over her heart, the fact it took the shape of a shattered moon made a lot of sense, if not filled her with even more contempt. And like her mark, when her powers had manifested on her 16th birthday, it was the moment her parents were waiting for. Everyone in the family and those within the Chang Organization realized what gift she truly was and they tried to exploit her. And for two and a half years, they did until Phoebe blew up their world. Literally. Throughout Asia and eventually the Americas, Phoebe’s activities became quite public, though she was never actually spotted on any cameras doing anything. Nobody knows who she was but the fact remained that she had involved herself with groups that specialize in domestic and eco-terrorism. At some point during her 18 months on the run from her family, she found passions that included taking down authority figures. She was involved with several protests that turned violent, acts of terrorism that resulted in over a hundred buildings being destroyed. Her activities amassed not only a cult following of anti-government groups but also the attention of worldwide law enforcement agencies. And yet her face had never been identified. Before anyone could get her face, despite all of her accomplices being captured, she was gone. There was no answer for it but Phoebe knew. The reason behind why she was never caught was because Phoebe slipped into the air and the building tops around her by using her magic. She never was caught because they couldn’t find her. She was never caught because Phoebe Chang knew what to do at almost every exact moment. Sometime in the last seven weeks when Phoebe was roaming the streets of New York, someone had managed to get a message to her. She didn’t know who it was or how they managed to find her, but there was a sort of calling sent out to her. The letter she received was vague but enticing. It mentioned her parents and how they knew she was a mage. In the letter, there was an unreasonable amount of focus on appealing to the side of Phoebe that liked an adventure. She loved risk and there was one line in the letter that stuck out to her. “There is something coming that is more dangerous than anything you have faced.” And she couldn’t help but feel intrigued by it. Something about the way The Guild worded the letter and the stakes they implied that were present made her smile. That’s honestly all it took for her to accept the offer. She joined The Guild not long after that. Oh, if only they could have informed her just what she had signed up for. 𝙈𝙞𝙨𝙘 |
