How did you discover your powers: Sylvester was fourteen and had just started working at his familyâs restaurant for a few months. On the night in question, he was working the late shift. While he already hated working the late shift, Sylvester was an even fouler mood due to having a large argument with a cousin earlier that day. While in a fume, Sylvester was told to take out the garbage. Once outside, Sylvester took a second to take a deep breath, hoping it would calm him down. It didnât. Sylvester decided to try taking a brief walk to chill out. However, as he began to walk, Sylvesterâs body changed, becoming a glowing ball of energy.
Freaked out by this, Sylvester tried to turn back, but found he had no control over his form. Instead, the ball of energy began flying down the street, then over the roofs of the local businesses. Eventually, Sylvester found himself over the townâs water tower. As he hovered over it, Sylvester transformed back into a human, landing on the water tower. Freaked out, Sylvester didnât see a way down. After a few minutes stuck on top of the water tower, Sylvester tried transforming into the orb again. It took a few tries, but eventually he turned back into the orb and flew back down to street level, before becoming human again. Upon returning to the restaurant, he was questioned about where he went, to which he simply say he needed to take a walk.
General History: Sylvester was born in Brock, Iowa, the heart of the American Midwest. Growing up Sylvester had a large family, as he was the second of four kids, and he had many aunts, uncles, and cousins living in the nearby area. From a young age, Sylvester spent a lot of time at the family restaurant, a passion project for his parents. While not overly successful, the restaurant did make enough money to support the Adrianos adequately. As far as Sylvester could tell, he was living a perfectly normal life.
By the time Sylvester was ten, videos of so called mutants became viral, challenging his worldview. However, his views on mutants would be shaped by the pastor of the local sermon. On a perfectly ordinary Sunday, the pastor delivered a sermon denouncing mutants as unnatural. Sylvesterâs parents agreed with this statement, which meant that he would also adopt this worldview.
But in the small town of Brock, Sylvester never encountered any mutants. The whole mutant thing seemed like some far off problem to Sylvester. That would change during his thirteenth year, when the battle of New York happened. Sylvester was amazed by the heroism of Captain America and the Avengers, causing him to wonder if itâs OK to use superpowers. However, his parents bought into the idea circling online that the Avengers were secret mutants. This line of thinking would cause Sylvester to backpedal on his support of the Avengers.
At the age of fourteen Sylvester got his first job, working in the family restaurant. The first few months were pretty mundane, just washing dishes and floors. But one fateful evening, Sylvesterâs mutant powers activated for the first time. Following this, Sylvester was confused, wondering how he could be a mutant when no one else in his family was. He would end up vowing to keep it a secret.
Another issue would arise for Sylvester, when at the age of seventeen he still hadnât had a girlfriend. Sylvester brushed it off, saying that he was just waiting for the right girl. However, he realized he had never felt that way for any girl. This also confused Sylvester. At the age of eighteen, Sylvester graduated from Brock High School. At first he considered leaving town, but ultimately felt that he couldnât leave his family. Sylvester ended up attending the local community college, entering into an electrician program.
Sylvester would excel at college, and ended up dating a few women, though not for very long. During this time Sylvesterâs father would fall ill, so Sylvesterâs older brother would take over management of the restaurant. After graduating college, Sylvester would take a step back from the restaurant and instead seek an apprenticeship with a local electrician company. It was around this point that he began experimenting with his powers, as his view on mutants had softened.
Things would be good for Sylvester for a while. That was until he was outed as a mutant online. Sylvester had no idea who posted this or how they could of known. Upon reading about it, Sylvesterâs family confronted him, to which he admitted he was a mutant. The Adrianos disowned him, not wanting to have anything to do with him. People in town began talking about Sylvester, cursing his name. This came to a head when he was fired from his company, and then found his apartment vandalized. Not feeling safe in Brock anymore, Sylvester left town, travelling east.
Sylvester ended up in the state of New York, looking for a job as an electrician. However, his name had been blacklisted online, making it very hard to find employment. At his most desperate, Sylvester was contacted by Charles Xavier, who offered him a place at his school. Initially wary, Sylvester would agree, moving into the mansion. He has now been there for three months.
