The MundaneName: Minako "Koka" Kaiyo
Age: 16
Sanctum City: Palmyra
Description: A round faced, pale japanese girl standing at about 5'4. Her black hair is always tied up into a bun, and her bangs are dyed a dark blue. She is athletically toned, though she had few sharp edges in her physical form. Koka's casual wear is very goth or 'emo'. Blacks, greys, dark blues. She likes a brand of clothing called Girilla and owns several pairs of sneakers, hoodies, and shirts from their collection.
She wears chokers and earrings. Her belly button is pierced with a small blue plastic crystal. She has a gold crucifix tied into her hair. She also has a tattoo of a pyramind with an eye on her upper left arm. A traditional Buddhist swastika, colored blue, is marked on her right ankle, with the words "well-being" drawn in a circle around them. There's also a pentacle on the small of her back, and the wiccan symbol of the triple goddess on her left shoulder blade. Finally on the outside of her left calf is a symbol of the sun, and on her right calf is a symbol of a crescent moon.
She's usually standing with her hands in her pockets and a little pursed-lip smirk on her face, with her shoulders and posture relaxed and comfortable, eyes casually half-lidded. If something catches her attention she will furrow her brow and tilt her head up, pursing her lips slightly in an expression similar to the one in her image. Overall she comes off as being very approachable or very strange depending on if you're cool or not.
Personality: Minako is an altruistic and kind young woman. She's usually in a good mood. Her personality could be described as bubbly, curious, happy go lucky. She expresses this in a somewhat unusual way, though. Koka speaks low, with a calm, relaxed voice. Introverted, she loves talking too and meeting new people but it can be exhausting, so sometimes she will wander off to do as she please by herself. But she always wants to be in the mood to meet new friends, even though she's not always capable of putting in the social effort. She's also a lazy rule breaker and doesn't put too much stock into authority. People who take themselves or their work too seriously might be rubbed the wrong way by Koka, even though she has no intention of doing that.
Koka has thought a lot about death, and has done a lot of spiritual reading. She's adopted schools of thought from various religions, even though she is a self-described cynic and nihilist. The core of her philosophy can be boiled down into "Life is too short and too meaningless to spend time hating other people." She is free spirited and lethargic, frequently sleepy, and she appreciates the simple things. One might thing she is a girl of contradictions, but she really isn't. She's mentally stable, and honest about what she thinks.
The only thing that gets her riled up is pointless violence and the enslavement of other people. When she gets angry, she'll say it, because she's not afraid to voice her mind.
Background: Koka was born in a poor sector of Palmyra. Her father was an abusive, hateful man, and her mother was troubled but loving, in her own way. Koka was born addicted to opiods, and though she kicked the habit the painkillers found in pharmacies have always needed to be avoided lest she give into the addiction in her blood. Her mother never forgave herself for that, but Koka did.
Koka grew up on the streets, and though she never touched opiods again, she never stayed away from pyschedellics. She became a regular dealer, user, and creator, and managed to become an upstanding member of her community. Anyone who might become a drug user would use hers, and stay away from the harder drugs available. It was her home business, even though she was just a kid at the time. Everyone liked Minako, so no one dared mess with her, or else the rest of the community would come down hard. This kind of community lead good naturedness is what lead Minako to discover her anarchist philosophy. She got her tattoos when she was 15 and spent a lot of time in the library, skipping school to go read, an irony that was not lost on her. School taught her how to read but she learned what to read.
Minako discovered she was attuned into magic when she was 12. Darkness itself was her affinity, something Minako thought fitted her. The dark, the subversive, the rebellious and the 'evil'...it always had a calling to her. Can't have light without darkness. Darkness can be warm, comforting, the underside of a blanket. Black was the color of naps. The shadows with which to retreat into safety too. The darkness that awaits everyone at the end of their lives.
Minako wasn't a fan, however, of Nox. Grim pricks who only caused wanton destruction. A disease that needed to be purged. She isn't a hateful sort, but those monsters out there that infect and corrupt innocent people really grind her gears. She would have been happy to stay in her slum but she decided that while anyone could make their community better, she was one of the select few who could wield magic. So she signed up for the academies, hoping to become an Ars Magi. She was already a magical girl, afterall. Do her mother proud and return to her community a better, stronger, more powerful person.
The MagicalArmgaus Name: Pitch Black Obsidian
Gladius: A chain whip. The bottom is an edge bludgeon, and the handle at the top becomes razor sharp and remains connected via a sharp chain.
Parma: Her blue eyes glow brighter. Her skin goes from pale to marble white, and her veins begin to glow cyan. Her hair darkens except for the dyed part. The whites of her eyes turn black, and inky black tears paint thick streaks down the side of her face. Her hair also becomes wilder and longer, though the bun still remains.
Elementum: Darkness
Elementum Abilities: Minako's darkness mostly manifests in the form of a viscious, pitch tar like liquid. She can create a wellspring of it with her cane. She can control the liquid at will, hardening, softening, or manipulating it how she pleases. One of her favorite things to do is to coat her whip with it, allowing it to be incredibly maneuverable and dangerous. She can also use it like a projectile, raising a globule of tar from a puddle and tossing it high speeds, swamping her enemies. Temporary constructs can also be created, the tar forming into slippery spider-web like lines that are full of tension to be pulled and flexed at will.
The pitch tar glitters light blue, catching the light occasionally. Frequently it looks like a field of stars.
The darkness also has a healing property should Minako choose. It can fill most wounds and increase regeneration. Minako however, cannot use this ability on herself.
