So I wasn't sure what to title this as but I figured what I put just gets to the point. I love (not in a weird or sexual way) gay or boy x boy roleplay or stories. I find it cute and fun and I get a lot of ideas. The problem is, is that I'm a girl and it's likely no one wants to do roleplay with someone basically pretending to be a guy. This website and forum and all seems pretty professional from what I've seen, meaning if I did get a chance I'd have to be extremely accurate as to how a male would act and things like that. Anyways, what I'm just trying to really say and figure out, is that if this is ok to do. Most people (on other places) usually reject this idea, though I'm no way trying to scam or say I'm a guy because I'm not! I just want to do roleplay like this.

People have put up interest checks for far stranger things, too. Just hop onto the 1x1 section and browse a bit, I bet you'll find some right away that'll get your head turning. _{I have not fact-checked this and will not held legally accountable for any bamboozling.}

Yeah, exactly what Ammokkx said. Pretty much everyone plays characters of different genders than themselves. There are also many, many people that like all kinds of gender pairings, I've seen no lack of other girls/fujoshi/fujin looking for MxM stories here. It's not so much you are "pretending to be" a male, but you are writing a male character. You aren't trying to dupe anyone into thinking you're male. Pretty different in my opinion.

But seriously, nothing odd about it, but you may find it harder to get a bite for basic interest (the girl doing male thing is no problem). Via a few discord circuits I know someone who's been into MxM and kinks related to male submissives who basically never gets anything.

I thought this was a roleplaying forum, dedicated entirely to playing things we aren’t by pretending to be. I’m not a cool suave medieval swordsman (much as I try to be) but I still play one in roleplays. I think sex/gender is one of the easier things to crossplay. I have a better idea of how to play a woman than I’ll ever have of how to play an alien in a sci-fi idea.

In short: nobody cares if you’re a woman playing a man.

I doubt the majority of people on this site really care if you're a guy playing a female character, a woman playing a male character, nonbinary playing a gendered character, etc. I know I don't, personally speaking.

Though I will say, since you brought up that how you've hardly found anyone wanting MxM, that FxM is definitely the most popular here in RPG's 1x1 section. That's not to say there aren't people looking for MxM RPs, but it might be why you're not having as much as luck as you would prefer finding a potential partner to RP with.

There's actually a 1x1 check for a FxM romance where the OP wants to play their female character along side a male character played by a woman. So go figure.

The only people who flip out over cross play are certain (read: not all) people looking to do erotic roleplays. I guess the idea is that they either A: like the idea that the player on the other side might be enjoying what they are doing to their character or B: They are insecure about their sexuality. Since it doesn't sound like that's what you're looking for, you've got nothing to worry about.

In the 1X1 section, does 'pairings' mean that the two leads will be in a romantic relationship? Is that the expectation? I just thought it meant that the 'pairing' are the two who would be the two leads of the story.

Not necessarily. Pairings are typically more like character archetypes/designs. Yes, they can lean towards/be designed for romance (which is most likely already stated somewhere in their interest check if the OP has mentioned they wish to do romance), but not all pairings have to be romance-based. Ultimately, I'd check in with the person in question about whether or not the pairing you're particularly interested in is romance-based if you're not sure.

Generally, all the internal thought-processes can remain same or similar, maybe a bit more openly competitive but sometimes on a completely different set of priorities. A dude still has fears and insecurities in a relationship and the only differences being cultural norms in when and how they permit themselves to express them.

Usually dudes wanna be problem solvers, even if that means ignoring their emotions best they can and grinding through and then deal with the emotional flak afterwards (assuming their plan to fix things even worked... sometimes they do a big-dumb and make the situation worse before it gets better). And even then if they're an emotional wreck they don't want to let out too many outward signs of weakness, at least not in public, so they put on a brave face and keep calm and carry on, usually telling crude jokes or using morbid humor as a means to cope rather than plastering on a smile and ignoring it, they'd rather make fun of their own fear in order to laugh at it and smile instead. In short, they've mastered the art of griping.

Your mileage may vary. But that's generally my view of how my co-workers behave in a factory-setting since my own behavior is probably not a good baseline.
