A very interesting concept, especially since I'm not familiar with that particular comic. You kept the attack/abduction vague, so actually, I'm not going to ask you to remove that part. I am curious, though, what sort of gear does this Bruce even have and utilize? Without his money and resources, what tools and weaponry can I expect from this Bats?

Very reasonable question! Given Bruce can't just afford everything he'd ever desire to fight crime, he's taken the TMNT approach of mainly scavenging supplies for gadgets or jury rigging a lot of things to work. Though Donnie usually has an assortment of tools and between him and Bruce I think they can make basic stuff happen. Some of the things I've had in mind are tools the TMNT already have access to, along with some lesser-rigged bat gadgets. Some of the TMNT stuff is like the eggshell smoke bombs, which are just dried shells with a hole poked in it to drain the contents, then filled with flash powder and sealed back up with wax. Then the electricity grenades that are composed of old baseballs, batteries, and metallic rods. Without upgrades, batarangs are basically just fancy little sharp boomerangs or shurikens so I think they're fine at the end of the day. The grapple gun I didn't think was out of Bruce's reach either, as it's just a glorified grappling hook with extra durability at the end of the day, and the Turtles have had grappling hooks in the past.

Aside from that, Bruce probably still has a lock-picking set, a laser-torch (Something Donnie usually has for his own work and for utility when he needs it) and a high-intensity flashlight that is probably around 1000 lumens. *Possibly* a blow-dart gun of Donnie's design, and enough knowledge to create makeshift darts himself. And with access to flora, he can probably experiment a little and make something that's toxic or has paralyzing properties. Maybe even medicine from the wildlife, even if it's not exactly the most well-working stuff.

Bruce might start out lacking a bit, depending on how much of a prick Mojo is. As he's already been stuck in Mojoworld for a bit already, unless his equipment is gathered and/or restored after his victories, he's probably had less and less to work with unless he can also scavenge off of people he's defeated. I planned for him to do a lot of scavenging as we go along, and try to improvise with whatever he can get his hands on to help push himself further into helping the group, and achieving his own goals. So while these are just things he'd start with, He could gain a lot of new things in the future depending on where we go and what he can get his hands on reasonably.

@Bounce Makes sense. I actually read the 2000 series relatively recently, so I should have remembered aspects of that.

<Snipped quote by Cyrania>

I believe MCU Thor and Loki are still hundreds upon hundreds of years old.

That Thor plot can definitely work, but ultimately that's up to you how you want to have that done. My only concern was the bits that touched upon Mojo. And, yeah, Mojo doesn't conquer worlds. He's an entertainment mogul who just happens to get his talent by abducting them from their worlds - with no care for what that means for those home realities now missing their heroes.

@Potemking Thank you for the clarification. I can explain more about just what the competitors have access to so you're less unsure.

The enslaved gladiators are kept isolated in their private cells. They are removed only to be experimented on/tortured and to compete. They have a collar around their neck at all times until the games begin. This collar inhibits all abilities, and makes you feel weak at all times. Each competitor is given their gear and costumes to change into and wear prior to the games starting. The death games are all broadcast on Mojoworld and the audience loves colorful costumed characters. This is an in-game explanation for why you can have absolutely any costume you want for your character.

You are given the same gear each time - what you had on you at the time of abduction. Your supplies are replenished at the start of each fight. Likewise, any damage to your costume was repaired.

Mild injuries are healed. Severe injuries are only patched enough for you to continue fighting. It is possible, if you desire, that your character has sustained longterm damage from the games. This can be a limp, huge scars, burn marks, hearing loss, etc. It could even be a missing limb or eye or damaged organ. Mojo's people would replace any damaged body parts with cybernetic ones if it ensured they could continue competing. If you wish to have any of these, it is entirely your choice and we can work out the details. All you would have to do is let me know.

At the time of the escape, these characters were being prepared for a gladiator match and as such have freshly repaired costumes and a full stock on their gear and supplies. However, if your character relies on ammo or a finite amount of something, they'll need to be careful using those items moving forward as they will not get automatic restocks and there are no guarantees they'll land on a world where they can find suitable materials to replace them with.

I respect the courage for going full-on Amalgam. No one else has before in any of the previous renditions.

Something else I should clarify here, though, is this: there are two general types of death games Mojo forces his prisoners to compete in. The first are gladiatorial matches between a selected pair or group of the enslaved fighters he's captured. In these matches, you only live if all other fighters are killed, so going without killing would be almost impossible unless you are freshly abducted or solely were forced to compete in the next type of death game. Which are the literal games; deadly gambits and challenges full of twisted traps, murderous automatons, and sadistic, tortuous puzzles. These games are typically done solo, so don't involve any forced killing, but are often psychologically designed to break down the competitors - if they don't break physically and perish, first.

With that new knowledge in mind, you may want to revise the final paragraph just slightly. I'm happy to work with you and anyone else in designing traps and challenges specifically for your characters that you can mention in character.

Thank you. The Amalgam stuff has always been really cool to me. I wish there had been an official amalgam with Peter and Dick. That makes sense on the games.

I thought they were strictly just death matches, so my intention was Pete would try not to kill as much as possible and just beat people, but the people he beat would be executed right in front of him anyway, and the symbiote would use his slowly fracturing sanity to sink its claws in. The puzzle games would probably make more sense though, but the high stress and trauma caused by those would still let the symbiote weasel its way in.

I do have a question. If he was initially put in one of the two types of games, would he stay in that type forever, could he be transferred between the two types depending on what Mojo wanted to see at the time?

All competitors would be put in whatever type of game would provide the most entertainment. It could be different every single time. This is an in-universe explanation so that way you as players can decide on whether or not you want your character to have been murdering people. That's not something I'm going to force on anyone. If accepted, we will talk privately to come up with the details for what your specific challenges were.

Prior to the start of this RP, right before their escape, every accepted character will have been brought to the usual changing room, though this time as a group all seeing one another for the first time. There they would be told they were all to compete against one another to the death, and only one would survive. So, if your character had never competed in the gladiator arena before, this would have been their first experience with that. But they escaped before they fight occurred.

This is very informative and appreciated.

Bruce definitely had an easier time surviving having been restocked for every fight, though I'm certain he's struggled quite a bit and could possibly have some scars to show for it. As far as cybernetics go, I think Bruce could keep his limbs intact but would really have to worry about his body keeping up with the punishment dished out to him. Each fight takes it's toll and simply being human means Bruce will fall apart physically before he ages out of his prime without interference. It's possible he's had to have internal augmentation to keep him going at peak performance value, possibly making him more durable in general so he won't fall apart on them easily. Things like a replacement spine are what I'm thinking of, so he's more durable but also not given much of an edge outside of being a better punching bag if things go south.

As far as supplies go, I didn't expect anything less. It could be a rough road, but that's just how it is. He'll use caution where he can and attempt to not squander his resources, but will expend them if it can prevent a bad situation. If an environment doesn't provide tools or something new he can take for his own use, then he'd simply have to do without. And that might put a hamper on his effectiveness, but nobody's just giving him magic bloodsport handouts anymore to keep him alive. Which he might need to get into a mindset for that, as he may be getting used to the restock mentality and have to come to the realization he's pretty boned if he doesn't use his resources well now. But Bruce can pick up on this fairly easily, I think, so at least that part of the problem won't exist for very long, if at all once they escape.

That helps a lot. Thank you. With that info, I think Pete might have been put in the death puzzle games and as time went on, maybe a few games before the escape, started to use the symbiote attached to him to help him get through the challenges better.

You all have characters that are pretty martial arts focused with leadership skills. Nomad, Batman, Sabretooth, Old Patch, and Dark Web. If you wouldn't mind, can you take the time to describe to me how you envision the character's role inside and outside of combat? Otherwise, I can only see them as their archetypical roles, which makes them all fairly similar.

Having a Batman/Ironman amalgam as a mentor I picture Pete as being a bit more gadget/tech focused than Dick usually is because he's also part Peter. He definitely has martial abilities being trained by Anthony, but I picture Anthony as maybe not being as hyperfocused on martial arts and fighting styles as a standard Batman. I also picture Pete being maybe a little awkward too like Peter so not so much geared toward leadership, at least not at this point in his life. I may age him down a little to go with that.

In combat mostly just the same old Wolverine except less rage and animalistic stuff. Like the difference between someone trained in Krav Maga killing or incapacitating someone swiftly and ruthlessly and one of the typical Wolverine chop everyone up and scream a lot. Less skewering someone and picking them up over his head, more cutting the legs from under someone and finishing them.

John Wick rather than Rambo.

In regard to leadership he's less the on the ground lead by example type he usually is. I picture him as having earned the loyalty of his men in that way long long ago but after establishing himself in Madripoor he now had middlemen there that would be that sort of leader. He's more the scary face and promise of retribution behind the organization than the actual boots on the ground sort.

For the previous questions,

Hex is basically using Hellboys big ass pistol yeah, The Good Samaritan. If you meant the Red Right Hand I don't want him to have the actual kinda squared off giant hand I don't want that. I thought about having him have a burned up right hand or maybe a red glove, but the scarred up face and resurrection are probably enough.

For Old Patch, yes basically and absolutely yes. Going off the old like bushido shit Wolverine often had ties to there are crimes he will neither participate in nor allow anyone to participate in in Madripoor, but he's not a super hero anymore. Maybe a hero to many in Madripoor but not actually a hero. Sort of an anti-hero, means to an end for the law abiding in Madripoor. Some love him and some accept him and are maybe even like grudgingly glad he's around in the same way folks might become accustomed to and fond of a dictator.

On behalf of the bombastic green machine, I feel slighted that Beast Boy was not included for his amazing leadership acumen.

Inside combat, Creed will avoid killing until they force him to. He has fought with defined rules of engagement for the last seventy years. That sense of guilt at operating outside even the least restrictive framework will fuel a smoldering rage.

Victor doesn't mind killing his enemies, but likes to act within his moral framework.

Outside the games if he doesn't have contact with other prisoners, he will use the time to train, meditate and test the limits of his world.

Creed, once it is clear he must kill will do so with speed and efficiency. If they escape he'll act as best he can to get as many victims free and faraway as possible.

It will be very interesting to see how he reacts going from a respected member of society back to being a second class citizen.

And perhaps the triggering event that was avoided for this Victor will be faced wherever he winds up

Not really any comments/concerns for this one, aside from the same bit about how he was abducted - assuming that the final paragraph was to be taken literally. Mostly just curiosities like does he wield a triangular or circular shield and did he and Peggy actually have a life together considering he didn't die? But the latter can obviously be revealed in the IC.

Less literally, more as an overly flowery way to say 'and then he was away'd.' Can cut it out pretty easily.

During the war he primarily wielded the heater shield, which was simple steel and found more value as a symbol for the troops to rally behind than as an actual weapon. A couple'a months before the armistice, though, a final engagement with HYDRA led to him pilfering the round one- made of an alloy with all the properties we know and love. It was meant to be wielded by the Nazi's own version of a super soldier that never came to fruition. There's a heavy dosage of irony in using it how he does these days.

Avoiding specifics? Sort of. They were together for a number of years after the war but before Steve went on the run. He wants to go back to her but knows it'd only endanger them both; there's no way to keep up the fight and be together with her at the same time. Carter's older now and time hasn't been kind. Steve's lifestyle would almost certainly be the end of her.

You all have characters that are pretty martial arts focused with leadership skills. Nomad, Batman, Sabretooth, Old Patch, and Dark Web. If you wouldn't mind, can you take the time to describe to me how you envision the character's role inside and outside of combat? Wellll ain't that unfortunate. In this timeline Steve Rogers is much more of a brawler than in the comics. All he's got to work with is his military training, which was much more focused on tactics and weaponry usage than strict hand to hand. Augmented speed and strength, combined with the shield, make him very dangerous to normal humans. Things get trickier against more skilled or stronger opponents who can cancel his strengths, forcing him to be a bit more clever in his approach. Steve takes advantage of his shield's strange properties and his environment as much as possible, and he's not above pulling a gun when things get messy enough.

This Rogers is not a superhero, he's a soldier. Its a philosophy that'll inevitably lead to him bumping heads with his teammates whenever he starts barking orders or asks people to make uncomfortable decisions. He's' not one to sacrifice his principles- ever- but there's a naivety to the cape-and-tights types that gets on his nerves. Plus, to be honest? All this shit that's going on is totally overwhelming. The man comes from a universe where he's the weirdest thing walking around. And now he's fighting aliens and jumping through dimensions. He's as out of place alongside these super types as mainstream Rogers is in modern times.

I know I originally said I'd make decisions on apps after roughly a week, but I'm going to extend it more. There are a couple of people who are interested but due to IRL events haven't had a chance to get their application up.

Alrighty. So, I am not closing applications yet, but I have made my decision on the first two characters I'll be accepting:

Nomad as played by @Cybermaxx and Six/Spawn as played by @Bounce.

These two players were already invited and officially in the RP from the onset (so there are still two or three open slots, this doesn't change that for anyone else), but just like everyone else they had to go through the character application process. After the first ten days, of all submissions currently seen, these are the two I feel are the best 'starting points,' so to speak, for a team.

With Nomad officially being one of the characters brought into the RP, the other applications that have similar martial/brawler type characters would be largely redundant. I don't want to flood the team with too many of the same archetypes. That being said, if you were one of the people who applied with such a similar character then no worries! You can absolutely submit a new proposal if you are still interested, and I will happily consider anything new you bring to the table.

I think with these two characters accepted it will allow for me to have a more clear picture moving forward of what I will be looking for.

I am going to keep the application process open for another week - May 13th, 12:00 AM EST will be the final deadline. Hopefully, by then everyone who is interested in applying has done so, and those of you who have been here since the start will have had ample time to submit new concepts.

To Bounce and Maxx, please hold off on moving your applications to the character tab until all characters have been accepted.
